That is something you will never find in my house. Helman's all the way! I used to do Hellmans. It seems like they changed the formulation a few years ago, and every jar I got tasted off. I switched to Dukes. We don't have Duke's here. I'd like to try it because some people swear by it.

Well, my weekend is starting out great! For the past month I've left the whole house unlocked for the contractors when I head off to work and today was the first day nobody was going to be there, so I figured may as well lock it up. Well..during all the storms the GFI tripped in the garage and the garage door openers wouldn't work. Normally when this happens I would just go get the hidden key for the walk doors out of the barn, but oops...new doors and locks now...key won't work. Call my aunt because she used to have a key for my front door which is a different lock and we went through her whole box of keys and couldn't find it. Keep in mind I also have a keypad on one of the new locks, but it hasn't been set up yet as I haven't been locking the doors. It was on the list for the weekend. So, broke down and called the locksmith. Had to wait almost an hour for him and found out I have very secure locks because he couldn't get any of them to go. I told him to just drill out the front door deadbolt as I was replacing that handleset to match the others eventually anyhow and finally I'm in (much to the relief of Ed who probably had to pee pretty bad by then).
$125 Stupid Tax.
Time to grab a Mike's and sit on the deck since we have a break in the rain.

So Mister is home now, and I gave him a minute before asking if he knew YD was coming by the house today. He said no, he didn’t know and asked if I knew what she came by for. I played along and said that a package for her had been delivered earlier today, and that was probably why she came by.
Because he didn’t say anything after that, I said that I really prefer to get notice like I’ve received the last couple of times she’s come by to get something.
He still did not say anything, so I kept it moving and went on about my business. But if it happens again, and I make a big deal out of it, he won’t be able to truthfully say that I am just acting up, out of the blue. I’ve been more vocal about his daughters and our home, ever since that bs that happened that night. Choosing to ignore what I’ve been saying, and trying to sweep things under the rug to try to get back to “normal”, I am willing to fight about it and insist that something different happens this time, at least IRT to my home and household…..and stand 10 toes deep on that this time, whatever the fallout may be.

andi9899 I like the Baltimore Avenue one. The kitchen is small-ish, but the fencing is good for your pups and I think it's all solid-surface floors which means no carpet replacement.

To me, this is the "work" he should be doing to figure out how a grown ass man gets it together and prioritizes his life. I read what you said about the therapist's thoughts on rewriting contracts depending on circumstances, but so far I feel like you are the one doing all the rewrites. Just saying.

I like the 2nd one better, mostly because I do not like garages that have been turned in to rooms. The house doesn't have a garage. Wonder how you got to the basement before the conversion? Wonder if the Twins could use the doggy door in House #2

The family member I was working on today was at Pearl Harbor. His ship was hit and went down. His parents received a telegram that he was presumed dead.
There are newspaper articles with what the telegram said. Well, he wasn't dead. He served 6 more years in the Navy. I read all about his ship at Pearl Harbor. There were a lot of casualties. I would love to have found an article on what he went through until somebody got him out of the water. It had to have been total chaos.
Don't know how his parents found out he wasn't dead. They were farmers so doubtful they had a phone. Most of my farming family didn't have phones during WWII.

I didn't live in the same area as my parents once I left home until they moved here so the keys were not an issue. When I was home, they gave me a key to use.
Here, we all had keys--mom, dad, sister, me and niece. Since they were in independent living, they didn't have to keep tabs on them like they do in assisted living.
Both my sister and I made the drive there more than once expecting to find dad dead because he would either not have his hearing aids in or have them turned down.
One day I walked slower and slower as I got to the door because the morning paper had not been picked up. He was busy doing word puzzles.

this may be a regional thing, but pasta salad is made with salad dressing (mine are all various vinaigrettes) and macaroni salad is mayo. anyone else? Might be regional. DH calls it macaroni salad and I call it pasta salad for the same thing. DH makes a pasta salad that he thinks is the bees knees, but he makes it with miracle whip and it is very bland and boring. I like getting creative with condiments and leftovers. When the kids were little I made a leftovers pasta salad once that I swear tasted like pizza. I could never replicate it. All I know is I don't like either.

I like this one. The deck looks a little funky on the right side, but might just be a board popping off. It doesn't have a huge backyard with that pole shed taking up a lot of it, but it looks like what is there is all fenced, even going across the driveway.

The guy that is fixing our deck, I got his name and contact info from a cousin after he did some work for my cousin a few years ago.
So I called my cousin a few days ago, and told him that we were having this guy do some work for us, and I just wanted to reconfirm with him that this guy does good work. He assured me that this guy is trustworthy and does good work.
My cousin called me back today and told me that he’d called the guy himself yesterday and told him that I’m his relative, and he expects him to take good care of me with the work I’m trusting him to do.
This is the same cousin that I’ve said I met for the first time around 10 years ago, when our family reunion was in New Orleans. I went out one night with him and a couple of other cousins I’d never met before. He and the other male cousin were very protective of us females, and everywhere we went, any man that was interested in us females, were denied access to us, unless we told our male cousins that it was okay. It was like having our own personal bodyguards, and I am not ashamed to say that I loved it.
He lived in Ohio at the time, where he was burn and bred, but moved to the area where I live some years ago, because he met and married a woman that lived in this area.
He is truly a family man. With his wife, children and grandchildren, and even with everybody else that is, or he considers family.
We are distant cousins, but I am very glad to know him and be part of his family.

I like both the Baltimore and Colorado house andi9899Third dress arrived this afternoon. It is freaking heavy as the bodice is beaded. TD likes this one, I like the other one better. The new one will need about 6” taken off the length. Even on my tip toes, it dragged on the ground and it looks like it has a small train. Hell no! Next dresses to arrive Monday and Tuesday, due to tracking.

Time to grab a Mike's and sit on the deck since we have a break in the rain. When the ghosts and spirits really got active in my house, I got locked outside and had to call a locksmith to get back in my house. I freely admit how scary I am about certain things, and I’d really prefer to not even believe in ghosts and spirits, but the shit that happened during that time period was not just me being scary. It really was some weird ass shit that really happened, and had no logical explanation. It was a holiday weekend evening and the locksmith that came out didn’t do anything that I couldn’t have done if I was willing to damage the door.

Ok, after all those concoctions I'll give you one of my favorites. It is very simple and extremely dutch - hagelslag! Good white white, preferably toasted, bread generously topped with butter and hagelslag aka chocolate sprinkles. Really good chocolate. And the generous amount of butter is to keep the hagelslag in place When my kids did international day in elementary school, we had a hands-on activity where we made this snack. We were fortunate to locate the good sprinkles in an international grocery store. The kids loved it!

Wonder if the Twins could use the doggy door in House #2 I don't think they make doggy doors big enough for the twins. Also, Jackson went to the vet today. He lost about 10 pounds, so he came in at 96. He hasn't been under 100 pounds for years. And the lumps are just lipomas and not cancerous. Yay!

They make dog doors for any size dog, but they don't really have to be all that big even for a large dog. They squeeze through.

I'm taking my dad to both open houses tomorrow. That way he can spot something that looks like it might break. Or if I have to change something to be how I want it, he can tell me how big a project/expense it will be.

Today's Greek pasta salad was bow-tie pasta, sundried tomatoes, yellow bell pepper, red onion, feta cheese, tons of fresh parsley, and a Greek dressing. I take mine down the Italian path subbing in fresh mozzarella and Italian dressing, and sometimes adding diced chicken breast to make a one-dish meal. Artichoke hearts make a good addition to either version. I loved pineapple and shrimp grilled kebabs.

You aren't Motel 6 and the light should not be on all the time. And you certainly aren't an Amazon locker site for convenient delivery. I ASSume she is living with her Mom now, so I don’t really understand why she is still having stuff delivered here. But that is more me just wondering why, and not me saying she shouldn’t do that. I am not looking forward to asking Mister why there was no communication today, but I feel like it is necessary to ask. I haven’t gone so far as to want to change the codes on the keypads to get in the garage and inside the house from the garage, which would ensure that nobody can get in the garage and inside the house except him and I. I feel like that is a sign that I’m not trying to be an asshole about it, I am just being clear about what I am comfortable with and what I’m not comfortable with. I could just change the codes on both keypads myself, if I really want to. But I’m not trying to lock her or OD out of the house. My children did not always have access to my house after they were adults, to come and go as they pleased. They both had/have a key that works on all of the doors, doorknobs and deadbolts, except the wood door on the front of the house. That is the only lock that requires a different key, and I did not give my children that key. Their keys work to open the door to the house inside the garage, but you gotta be able to open the garage door first, and it doesn’t have a keypad. The key also unlocks the security door on the back of the house, but if the sliding door is also locked, you still can’t get past that without breaking something. So, the only way for them to get inside, was for me to leave the wood door in the front of the house unlocked, which I usually did. So even though my children have always had keys to my house, if the wood door on the front of the house was locked, they still couldn’t just pop up at any time in my house unannounced. That was a happy medium for me, letting them have access, but also being able to ensure they couldn’t just pop up inside whenever, since I was a single woman and did things that single people tend to do. Besides me trying to ensure that they didn’t walk in on something we all preferred they rather not see, my kids knew that I am scary, and respected that enough that they knew to say loudly “hey Momma, it’s me”, to avoid me being startled and afraid because someone was in my house unexpectedly. Maybe, in her mind, she IS still living with you? And could it be she's using Mister’s account/credit card to order things, so it gets sent to Mister's house?

We are tired, hubs and I are working our butts off. DD and I had a docs appointment and then she had an IV Infusion today, we were late and they were even later. Didn't get home till 4. I was beat so forgot to stop for scrips and going to the bank.
The docs are great, all are helping us get 3 months of meds if possible. Our primary care doc is going to India for 2 weeks, said it will be busy there visiting family, but she said she is calling in daily to see what patients need. So if we need something just leave a message. She is putting in 3 months of scripts for everything. We can have someone pick them up and mail them from here if need be, so think we will be ok until we get situated.
Hubs moved his urologists appointment up, and I have one more we need to move to a closer date. I got the cats in for Tuesday to get their shots up to date. I'm flying Smoke and Tigger is going up with hubs.
I am working on emptying the cabinets in the garage. All kinds of stuff. Some to the trash, some in front of the house for free, items in the garage to be sold. I have purged a lot today. A few fishing items for son which he will take. We need to bring up 2 more big tables, and clean the one in the garage. The first one is overloaded already. We have one double clothing rack up and its loaded.
I started pulling shovels and garden tools out of the shed, trying to get a variety of stuff. When hubs gets back he is having a sale just from the garages. I'm sure he can. I packed one big box full of TP from our COVID days and topped it off with some items in the basement. I'm going into high gear this week.
My closet has had all the winter clothes packed into 2 suitcases. I have most of my shoes packed and purses. I will keep at it. I am going to get rid of more and more. I told hubs even if the sale falls through things will be in better shape and we will be ready for the next sale. But I think it will be fine.
Tomorrow is another day, with more and more work to do. I'm selling everything cheap to get rid of it. If I don't its going to Goodwill and the local Fathers Arms sfree store.

believe me, I have tried to tell him MANY, MANY times about putting all that money toward retirement instead of paying off the house early, but he is dead set on paying it off early. He calculates the extra money being paid in interest and figures we are avoiding paying that money if we pay it off early. I tell him I agree, but if we take that "pay off early" money and put it into our 401ks (we do the match) and our brokerage accounts that we will make more money in growth/dividends than the interest we're accruing. His desire to pay off the house seems to be more of an emotional decision than a financial one - he is EXTREMELY debt-averse. He also says that once the house is paid off we can put that extra money toward our retirement. I remind him that we are losing out on the beneficial compound interest by delaying the loading of our retirement accounts. And we go round and round... it is what it is at this point. that is why personal finance is personal. you guys will make it work. I am kind of doing both. Stopped paying extra on my house. It is sub 3% interest. Paid off DH’s truck b/c it was about 5.45% interest. I invest about 45% of my earnings in my 401k and max my HSA (also invested). The plan to invest in the stock market and let your $$grow is only good if we don’t have a major crash. If that happens, paying off debt early doesn’t look so bad.

Good morning, good invisipeeps with Hellman's aversion and with Hellman's affection on all things, salad and not. Welcome to Saturday. I hope your day is amazing; happy and fulfilling, and offers good company as befits your emotional sails. I want Greek and related food from the international grocery near soupandstew . It sounds fantastic. I'm wondering how ken a.k.a OMK 's mother had the recipe the restaurant I worked in 45 years ago used for cole slaw dressing. Wait staff, of which I was one, prepared salads there and so I mixed my share of many pounds of the stuff. Today I'll be off to the one of the chain of islands visible from the beach here, to paint and relax. The weather should be good until after we're back. We'll see. This is the sunrise yesterday on the beach after the shortest night of the year:
