Very strange that the only inside pics are kitchen and a hallway.

Very strange that the only inside pics are kitchen and a hallway. This always bothers me. Why can't you see the rest of the house? There is a poor quality picture of a bedroom. These houses are mostly built in the early 1960's and remind me so much of the home where I grew up.

What flavor of Mike's? Sorry to hear about your entry dilemma. Black Cherry. Not my favorite, but it will do. Back Cherry is my absolute favorite of the Mike’s products!! What’s your favorite of them?

The remark that the previous purchaser couldn't get financing is a big red flag that the property did not pass inspection. It does have a lot of potential if you can get it for the right price and are willing to do a lot of updates over time. On the plus side, the roof and siding look decent. The lack of bathroom photos is scary though

After breakfast I cleaned the bathrooms and now I'm going to shower! After lunch I'll hit Aldi and maybe do a little dusting. Need to print out the Discover statement too.

Rant below. I'm taking a break here. Angry vacuuming isn't making me feel better.
You know, I would really love to spend down our money and enjoy life.
Shit, I would even have loved to take sick leave for my cancer treatment.
My 40s have taught me it's still going to get worse.
If I spend down all my sick leave when i can tolerate cancer treatment pretty ok in my 40s, what's going to happen when it comes back and is metastatic?
I can promise you, I have exactly 0 interest in working full time when the cancer comes back. It's not an if in my mind. It's just a when at this point. My body has a mutation that is never going away. I am a ticking time bomb.
And what if I'm wrong? So what? I completely stop the day job at 56.
Same thing with our taxable. Or take money out of our roth for that matter.
Sure, we could piss away the money now, in drips and drabs.
What happens when the cancer comes back and chemo gives me some good time? I'll be really sad that when I'm still doing well, we can't take a big family trip(s) to make memories. I don't want our last big family trip to be an overnight in a tacky tourist trap because I was hell bent on making my life easier now.
I also want to make sure there is ample money for DH, so he can continue to work part time and be there for the kids.
Thankfully, I've been a good enough parent that they will actually mourn me when I die.
After seeing what losing a mom when you are still a minor does to a kid with my college roommate, I don't want my kids to go through that.
And, yes, I could be lucky enough that I still could have a normal life span.
I'm also not naive enough to think that I'll be able to see the missy graduate high school.
And in my world, while we do have money, it is still a finite resource. We have a lot of levers we can pull. Unfortunately, we can only pull them once. So I'd better pull them for exactly the right reasons at the right time. There is no room for error.

Lousy pics. It’s huge at 3000+ sq ft, but most pics of the back yard? Why? ETA: Any big jobs, you are likely looking at needing to do some asbestos abatement. This would most likely be in floor tiles, so if they haven’t been replaced, this will add to the price of the job.

Yep when the money is in a 401k, remember you don't get all that. We for the first time are taking $100,000 out of a 401k and the federal is 20% and the state is over 3% they withhold those so your taxes are paid, hopefully we get some of it back at tax time but I kind of doubt it..
I would advise of meeting the matches and putting the savings elsewhere.
I am so tired today as is hubs. He is taking things off the top shelves for me in the basement and I'm selling, selling, selling. I have to carry all that up as he is leaving tomorrow for Washington.

andi9899, check for flooding. If they have redfin in your location, it shows where the water comes up to. Likely just averages, but you can get an idea. You don't want to get a flood house. Or maybe there is something close by that is undesirable, sewage plant or something?

Driving home. Should be home by 11:00. DH is an early riser and does the driving, so we left the hotel at 5:30am. Then I went back to sleep for an hour.
Therapy journaling question
2. What do you spend most of your money on? What are you budgeting for? When you think of wanting money, what do you honestly and authentically want?

I'd like to see more pictures, like are those hardwood floors damaged, or are they in good shape? I actually could live here, I'd just change some paint colors, get the wood floors sanded & refinished if they need some love. Long term I might redo those kitchen cabinets, but for the price it's not bad for what we're seeing. What's behind the property? Is it farmland, or a public park?

Sittng at the eye doctors. No plans to get dilated but I will be picking out new glasses. Current ones are so scratched up it's ridiculous. Will probably get one overpriced pair here then try Warby Parker for another. I thought about contacts again but I stare at screens too much and I'm thinking they'll dry up and pop out. At least they did when I used to fall asleep in my college classes. Such a pain.

I will go hide under the bed with my bottle now!!

I like both of these, but I prefer the second house because it still has its garage. I have always preferred to park the car in the garage just to get it out of the weather. Our current home only has a single garage, and it has become DH's man cave. No room for the car.

Old eyes here but can anyone tell me what is that on top of fridge? I've looked three times so that is my limit trying to figure something out. When I saw the pictures I wondered if the is a FSBO. Most agents have pretty much professional looking pictures. Or maybe they wanted people to inquire since not much to go by. Just a thought.

I feel a sense of foreboding, since it has fallen out of contract twice in the past few months and there are no pictures for most of the interior. ETA: The realtor is telling us in all caps that it needs work, compared to my husband's last fixer that was called a "handyman's delight" in friendly lower case letters.

I googled the address and pulled up the realtor.com listing to try to find more pictures, and it has the realtor listed there. It seems odd that there are two pending sales on Zillow, but realtor.com just shows one price change and no sales.

I think the rendering plant could really stink. I don't know for sure google it and see.
I looked at a place good price, lovely place. When I went to street view, there were 2 huge tanks to the left and to their right was a community park. In front of their house all kinds of signs that said no parking. You sure wouldn't have known from the pictures with the listing.

I'm punting Pride. It is just too damn hot to be dancing in the street, even though I could probably do it nearly naked. Somehow, sitting under this fan in front of this laptop, and yattering about various retirement strategies and the importance of one's marginal tax rate seems like more fun. How did I ever get this boring?
