Hellmans here also! But I have been using half sour cream with the Hellman’s for potato and tuna salads I mix a tad of Stonewall Kitchen Aioli with mayo when using mayo in certain foods. Depending on food. And I stress “tad”. It’s a flavor all it’s own. My favorite is Lemon Herb but they have lots of flavors! I only mention the brand because like Hellmans only brand I use. I’ve tried others over the years and

tallguy , you must be related to my DH. That man won't eat anything with mayo, Miracle Whip, or anything good. So, no potato salad, no pasta salad, no cole slaw. I just tell him he doesn't know what he's missing while I eat those foods in front of him. The only thing that makes me sad is I never mastered my Mom's potato salad, because why make it for one person? At least my DS will eat pasta salad. In 18 years of marriage that is the only thing my EXMIL complimented me on.

Might be regional. DH calls it macaroni salad and I call it pasta salad for the same thing. DH makes a pasta salad that he thinks is the bees knees, but he makes it with miracle whip and it is very bland and boring. I like getting creative with condiments and leftovers. When the kids were little I made a leftovers pasta salad once that I swear tasted like pizza. I could never replicate it.

Macaroni salad has mayo, not pasta salad. I make spaghetti salad with McCormick Salad Supreme seasoning added to the Good Seasons DIY salad dressing. Just add veggies of choice (I do kalamata olives, cucumber, tomato, red onion). I loathe the gross pasta salads with a bottle of Italian dressing and generic orange cheese cubes in them. 🤮

DH just got the mail -- "The things we have to teach our children!" DS4 got a jury duty survey, and apparently neglected to put any postage on it! He's probably never snail mailed a letter in his life. I'm not even sure why he didn't do the survey online, pretty sure I did last year.

I got a first interview for the job that I just applied for earlier this week.
It is recorded, which I'm I little meh about.
So, for those keeping score. Through the end of this month, I need to do the recording for the first interview, apply for another job, and prep for my second interview.
And, staying on top of DH for schedule changes he forgot about so I can do all this.

My mothers coleslaw dressing: 1 cup mayo 1/3 cup sugar 3 tbsp vinegar 1 tsp mustard celery seed (no amount was given) We buy pre-cut veg mix. Mix in dressing but don't use too much because it will get more moist after sitting for awhile. This is close to the recipe that my mom used. We don't use mustard. And we don't measure. It's all done to taste. We are a miracle whip family.

I have been battling issues with my sinuses off and on, since the very beginning of May. It has been pretty bad sometimes, then gets better a few days later. Only to get bad again.
So this morning it was bad again. I woke up with my face, head, ears and teeth hurting, and my body aching. I’ve been struggling through it, but this morning, I just couldn’t. So I called in and didn’t go to work. I had FMLA for years, because of my sinus issues, but I do not right now.
Anyway, some hours ago a package was delivered and it was addressed to YD. So I figured she would be coming over one day soon to get it. The last 2 times she’s come to get something, after the time I asked her if her Dad knew she was coming over, Mister has let me know she was coming that day.
So not long ago, I was coming out of the house into the garage and was startled to see someone in the garage, which was YD. I was startled enough that I said something like “oh shit” before I could catch myself. That’s not actually what I said, I don’t remember exactly what I said, but it wasn’t cuss words. And it came out because I was so startled to see someone period, before my brain registered that it was YD.
So then I said “hello”. She said “hey” just barely loud enough for me to hear her. I said “your package is in the entryway”. By that time, she was going in the door to the house and she mumbled something that I didn’t catch and I didn’t bother asking her what she said.
I am going to ask Mister if he knew she was coming by today. Of course I should’ve been at work and not at home when she came, but the last time, Mister sent me a text to let me know she was coming by, as I was getting ready for work, which was obviously also a work day for me too.
I didn’t get all of the anxiety symptoms today, that I’ve had since the latest bs, and I’m glad about that. But to me, it seems like they might feel like enough time has passed for them to start trying to ease their way back to their status quo and sweep things under the rug like they’ve always done. I still object to that, and I still object to her just randomly popping up without notice, until they have had some real conversations, which has still not happened as far as I know.
I want to be clear that I am not trying to bar her from our house. I am just objecting to her popping up randomly, when it’s been made very clear that not only does she really dislike me, but she also has little or no respect for her Dad. This is our home, and I don’t feel like I am being unreasonable with not being okay with her having free access to pop up whenever she wants to, with no communication beforehand. If she was still staying with us, I would be more willing to just suck it up, since a person should have the freedom to come and go where they live. But she’s not stayed here since that horrible night and has only come over a few times since, to get clothes and such, so I think that’s different from her living here. And no matter where she spends her nights and her time, it wouldn’t be as much of an issue as it is to me now with her popping up without prior communication, if not for that night that changed so many things for me.
If you have such strong ill feelings about me and Mister, and don’t want to even deal with him, or be at our house, why even have packages delivered here? The package delivered today was not the first one after all of that bs happened.

so I'm sitting here on the deck rn, knowing that I'm eating a $300 concert ticket for tonight at Fenway. Hootie, Edwin, Collective Soul, BNL. my crew is in section A1 on the field. whoooooooo......... tomorrow is 4w since I wiped out on the basement stairs. with no breaks, time healing is 6-8wks. I don't at all mean to joke about self harm, but if I had to reset the clock on resting this ankle, I might need a chaperon around the house. so I'm streaming reruns with a few cocktails, and I'll be in bed not long after sunset. my baseball bud isn't leaving NJ til 8ish, he said, so the spare key is already set out for him and we'll just hang out and doze til he keys in at whatever hour.

Today's Greek pasta salad was bow-tie pasta, sundried tomatoes, yellow bell pepper, red onion, feta cheese, tons of fresh parsley, and a Greek dressing. I take mine down the Italian path subbing in fresh mozzarella and Italian dressing, and sometimes adding diced chicken breast to make a one-dish meal. Artichoke hearts make a good addition to either version.

Does anyone remember something called Hawaiian macaroni salad? I think the everyday version was elbow mac, cubed SPAM, drained, canned pineapple chunks, and mayo. The fancy version was cubed ham, cubed fresh pineapple and mayo. Personally, I hated both versions. I love pineapple but not with something savory like meat or seafood.

I have an account with Amazon. Today’s mail had a LARGE promotional mailer addressed to me using my previous married name. I haven’t had that name in 22 years. Not only that, I opened the account in my current married name.

The only pasta salad I can tolerate is an orzo salad. It contains Kalamata olives, sun dried tomatoes, fresh basil, radicchio and toasted pine nuts. The dressing basalmic vinegar, olive oil and garlic. I haven’t made it in awhile since TD hates radicchio and my sister can’t do olives.

Soup’s post 70125 & Mich’s post 70130 sound yummy except for sun-dried tomatoes. I just don’t like them. I have tried and I just don’t. Otherwise I love tomatoes.

I grew up with Miracle Whip, but have never bought it as an adult. I use 90% of the mayo in this house, TD doesn’t like it at all. I got the biggest laugh about this. When I was incapacitated, he had potato salad for a work gathering. I came out to the kitchen and tasted it. He very sparingly used mayo…..not enough to hold the salad together. I told him it needed more mayo, and desperately needed salt. He ignored me. When he brought the bowl of potato salad home, it had barely been touched and he had no idea why (despite me telling him). Fast forward a year, I’m back on my feet and making potato salad. He’s chowing down on it by the bowl full and can’t understand why, despite him using the same ingredients that he liked mine, but no one wanted his. To this day, he has absolutely no idea how much mayo I put into potato salad, and if he knew he’d be horrified. He can’t get past it due to his aversion to mayo. DH is the same with mayo. Though he eats no potato, tuna, chicken salad, etc - but he will kill some cole slaw, lol. I include it in some things without telling him. It is not a taste thing for him. Men are weird. I prefer my mom's coleslaw which is vinegar dressing instead of mayo.

You aren't Motel 6 and the light should not be on all the time. And you certainly aren't an Amazon locker site for convenient delivery. I ASSume she is living with her Mom now, so I don’t really understand why she is still having stuff delivered here. But that is more me just wondering why, and not me saying she shouldn’t do that. I am not looking forward to asking Mister why there was no communication today, but I feel like it is necessary to ask. I haven’t gone so far as to want to change the codes on the keypads to get in the garage and inside the house from the garage, which would ensure that nobody can get in the garage and inside the house except him and I. I feel like that is a sign that I’m not trying to be an asshole about it, I am just being clear about what I am comfortable with and what I’m not comfortable with. I could just change the codes on both keypads myself, if I really want to. But I’m not trying to lock her or OD out of the house. My children did not always have access to my house after they were adults, to come and go as they pleased. They both had/have a key that works on all of the doors, doorknobs and deadbolts, except the wood door on the front of the house. That is the only lock that requires a different key, and I did not give my children that key. Their keys work to open the door to the house inside the garage, but you gotta be able to open the garage door first, and it doesn’t have a keypad. The key also unlocks the security door on the back of the house, but if the sliding door is also locked, you still can’t get past that without breaking something. So, the only way for them to get inside, was for me to leave the wood door in the front of the house unlocked, which I usually did. So even though my children have always had keys to my house, if the wood door on the front of the house was locked, they still couldn’t just pop up at any time in my house unannounced. That was a happy medium for me, letting them have access, but also being able to ensure they couldn’t just pop up inside whenever, since I was a single woman and did things that single people tend to do. Besides me trying to ensure that they didn’t walk in on something we all preferred they rather not see, my kids knew that I am scary, and respected that enough that they knew to say loudly “hey Momma, it’s me”, to avoid me being startled and afraid because someone was in my house unexpectedly.

Miracle whip today doesn't taste anything like mir.whip from 35-40years ago its pretty vile now. I'll take mayo anytime, but no preferences--ive used Publix brand mayo and hellmans but whatever is on sale is what I'll buy. Have heard good things about dukes but have never tried it
