Eating breakfast looking for my motivation. Need to have a very productive day at work. I think it ran away with mine. They are probably out throwing bricks off the interstate right now.

So, about 9 years ago, Beth mailed me a fishing pole for the peanut, that her daughter had outgrown.
I am hoping that she is smiling watching the missy use it now.

lol.... he's still a puppy, even at 2. that's just generally the line in the sand with puppy vs adult chow, all the shots, etc. give him a kiss for me tonight, please. he did come home! He has been an ass again, just since my last post so I will give him a kiss from you later tonight, or tomorrow. He is the most loveable PITA, well I really need to spell it out this time…. PAIN IN THE ASS! that I’ve ever dealt with, human or animal. The video I posted on FB is really minor, when it comes to his shenanigans. But even with all of his bs, it’s impossible to not love him, and I do love his uglass even though he drives me nuts sometimes. he's your boy, I completely understand. lol.... some of the shit that LD does just to be a nudge? Punk would never have been allowed to do that. BUT, Punk has the loophole from the "GET OUT OF MY KITCHEN!!" rule, that she can be nearby on a threshold of another room. LD just nopes out when I put on the Momma Boom voice.

Well, another big fire broke out in the mountains close to me today. I had to go out of town today for work, and when I got about an hour out from home, I could see the smoke plume that was huge. By the time I got home, my town was super smoky and the sun was red. It looks like it blew up really fast.

aw, pupper is testing and pushing boundaries. he's still not yet 2y, right? sorry you got soaked, though. He will be 2yo next month. I was so proud of him for a while, and telling him he was a good boy because he was being a good boy, staying put and not running off. Then he just jumped up and ran off. If it makes you feel better the twins are 8 and have no recall. I just keep them contained at all times. Something to change with future dogs.

So this is interesting.
One of the jobs I applied for a year ago. I was given a second interview. Like, I just checked, to confirm I applied a year ago.
If you include that job notice, they are now on their third round of hiring for that very position.
They had to refill the position 2-3 months after the time I applied. They wouldn't give me a second chance when I applied to that.
Now, it's open a third time.
I think I dodged a bullet with that one. Generally that kind of turn over only happens when there's something off.

Why do I have zero, zip, nada, absolutely no paper napkins in the house? Obviously I didn't put them on the list so I guess we will be "fine dining" for a few days with paper towels until the flooding rains pass. Definitely got TP so we're all good lol.....this is going to be me in a few weeks when I finally run out of Woolite. I think it's easily been a year since I have bought any, b/c I had 4 XL bottles of it after a few trips of thinking I needed a new bottle. lol... I'm finally on the last huge bottle of it, and it's about halfway gone. Lol, a couple of weeks ago I sent a package of napkins to my MIL b/c I had about four in my kitchen. I just don’t hVe that kind of storage space.

Both were let go for unsatisfactory job performance. Neither fully understood their tasks after multiple explanations and work throughs with them. For one of them, their attention to detail wasn’t there either. All this to say it may not be pickiness per se but the other people just didn’t work out for some reason. People do tend to think they can perform than what they do at times. 🤷♀️

Good morning, able invisipeeps, preparing for meals, miscreant pups and wild storms or just the day. Welcome to Tuesday. I hope alll who are searching for their motivation find reason in the fact that Thursday's coming. Thursday you can do standing on your head, it requires so little of you. For everyone I hope this day treats you with gentle respect and rewards your efforts. Bought a window a/c yesterday for DD. It will be delivered today. She is sensitive to heat, so it's important considering today our heat wave commences. $247 from Walmart and they deliver, a good thing since I actively avoid that store when possible and it's almost always possible. Today I'm going to the local grocery store and picking up live lobster at $6.99/lb. This is my favorite food of all and since I'm a foodie that's saying a lot. Yesterday's pre dawn was pretty spectacular:

Morning all. Drinking coffee and eating breakfast. Going to be a long day since it was another night of tossing and turning.
Oh well motivation is still MIA.

That's happened to me before with other posters where I'm always sort of surprised that they have actual voices!

Wildfires are terrifying. I watched the documentary about the Paradise fire as well as an Australian one about the Churchill fires and they were incredibly sobering.

People do tend to think they can perform than what they do at times. 🤷♀️ Not saying this is what happened at your company but I've noticed places are hiring now for "personality" and not focusing on skills. The last actual interview I did he flat out said they don't care about skills they want to know "you'll be a good fit". Which I am starting to think is code for they want someone who will behave and know their place. Then I remembered later that the HR person said they are having a hard time keeping people in the position. Gee I wonder why?! I think I may have ended up dodging a bullet the more I think about it. It is the same with Captain Dipshit. He can't find his way out of a paper bag but he follows my manager around like a puppy and they liked that he doesn't have a lot of ambition which means he will stay put. He screws up everything he touches and frustrates the crap out of the rest of us but gosh darn it he's so chipper! Much better compared to a snippy incompetent bitch like me. I wouldn't be shocked if he made associate long before I did. Another person who is trying to get out of the lab has had the same experience. It's really odd and I feel like it's a direct outcome of the pandemic. Now that a lot of people know their value and expect to get something for it employers have switched tactics. They are using personality to look for doormats who will happily work for peanuts for the sheer honor of being hired. Which echoes what the higher ups said in the annual department circle jerk. While at the same time complaining they can't retain people and they don't understand what they could possibly do to combat it. ETA: Also noticed an uptick on places wanting you to do multiple interviews and homework. My coworker was up to interview #4 and they wanted him to take an Excel assessment and write an outline of all his goals for the first 6 months on the job. He turned that one down. I feel like that is also a way to screen people out. If you get someone to do that much unpaid homework and jump through that many hoops you're banking on you got someone who will be a doormat. People who refuse to do it are clearly not motivated or a good fit for the company. It's an honor to do several hours of unpaid labor before even getting hired.

DD and I are home, we are beat. I have basically been up since yesterday morning. The plane had to go a different route and we skirted a huge area of bad weather you could see all the lightning out of the left side of the window.
Hubs picked us up, good trip back from Indianapolis. We stopped at the local diner and got breakfast. DD is so tired she is in bed already. She was dragging.
I came in and the house looks nice, hubs had mopped and washed all the throw rugs. He had everything neat, but he said the kitty room needed more cleaning. I was surprised to see things so neat and clean.
I have got to get busy starting tomorrow, soooo much to do, oh my. I'm tired thinking about it.
Hubs still says he won't like it up there, but he will. He did the same thing when we moved to Texas. Son and DIL are looking forward to him being there and grandson will be thrilled. He is already kind of upset grandpa will be there while he is in Russia. And he can't believe that grandpa is going to be there all the time. He is all excited.
I have got to go to bed, I'm absolutely beat. Later all.

I live about seventy miles away, but due to a highway closure about 5000 people had to evacuate to my town. They couldn't go any other direction. The city, county, and churches pulled together and opened several shelters at a moment's notice. They are saying structures have been lost, but thankfully so far no loss of life.

Kicking off the first week of summer camp. Made it through Fathers Day ok yesterday, although DS was in rare form I’m also apparently still pissed at MiL for skipping DS’ graduation: showed FIL a pic of it since he’d wondered about how DS’ height compared to the rest of his class, did not offer to show MiL. FIL gets a pass bc even getting into his wheelchair is a major production. My parents with all their flaws would never, ever have missed a grandkid graduation that was only a mile away. Um...only a mile away Yeah, that's not okay.
DH and I removed a medicine cabinet and sconce lighting from our basement bathroom. He then put in a new electrical box for the light fixture we bought. I have been patching the sheetrock and have two coats of mud on the wall. I went and picked up the sink cabinets, so we are getting close to putting this bathroom back together. The new floor has been down for almost two months. The room has already been painted two coats, so just need to touch up where the repairs have been made. I plan to order a quartz countertop with an undermount sink once we get the cabinets set. This bathroom was the last blast of 1977 decorating left in our house. I did leave the harvest gold fiberglass shower in place. Future generations need to learn from past mistakes. It took almost 10 years to get all the updating done in this house. The only remaining change I really desire in this house is to add main floor laundry. Two things: I'm paying someone right now to move the light fixture in one of my bathrooms. I'm not at all cool enough to do all that you describe! Second, that's awesome that you've made it through the updating of the entire house.
My old lawnmower is done already. Seriously? They told me weeks. Have to plan another road trip. Wait...what? I thought you traded it in

We actually got hail late last night, but at least it didn't last long, and I didn't see anything bigger than pea-sized. You rest up, as you've accomplished a lot in the last week.

I am on the longest plane ride of my life. The actual flight is 4 hours, so bad enough. But we were delayed almost 2 hours for various issues, so instead of already being at my destination I’m still on my way. I’m so tired of this airplane. The silver lining tho is that this is a work trip and bc I’m delayed I get out of set up type activities. So when I finally land I can just head straight to my hotel and find a snack before I have to be presentable for evening activities. Not sorry to miss all the pre-event “fun”. Ugh...I don't fly very often, just a few times per year. All the delays drive me nuts. How's the conference?I'm back home from the ortho, parked on the deck looking up the bone he thinks might have sustained a fracture. I'm streaming the news on my phone, but I'm also hearing what sounds like karaoke from some neighbor's backyard. lol.... it's not any of the immediate neighbors, but a few houses down toward the pond. whoever it is needs to not quit their day job. update from the appointment though - I have acquired another brace for now. it's this multi-strapped lace-up thing that reminds me of the solid one I have for my wrist a couple times a year. when I got home, I took my car out to 7-11 (maybe a half mile, R/T) to see what I felt. I think I might actually be able to drive with this new brace, obv doubling up with the bootie. and not, let's drive to Fenway on Friday, but I don't have to wait for someone else to pick me up to go buy produce at the grocery store for the pups. THAT is a win! but, back to my foot - Dr says there's no full breaks, I'd have been screaming with how he was manipulating my foot to poke around. but, between explaining where I'm feeling pain after I do X or Y and where I winced/squirmed during that major manipulation, he thinks there might be a fracture of what's called the cuboid bone. I've got an order for a CT scan at the local hospital, slated for Wed. I'm gonna call my insurance company in the am to insist they hurry up and approve it since it's already been 3w since I wiped out. That is quite the tumble you took. I didn't realize it had been three weeks already.
Why do I have zero, zip, nada, absolutely no paper napkins in the house? Obviously I didn't put them on the list so I guess we will be "fine dining" for a few days with paper towels until the flooding rains pass. Definitely got TP so we're all good Paper napkins are in my house somewhere. We use cloth napkins on a daily basis.

I'm finally on the last huge bottle of it, and it's about halfway gone. For me, it's Pinesol. Part of the problem is at my previous house, the cleaner used my supplies, but at this house the cleaners bring in their own supplies. Maybe I should donate the Pinesol to somewhere? I have at least three costco jugs in the garage.
TheOtherMe I am sorry about this current challenge, but hopeful that it will be temporary. We are all pulling for you to get better The process was explained to me in words. I wish I would have been shown pictures. I might have decided to go straight to surgery and be done with it. Since I return to surgeon next week, I may decide no more chemo just to get it over with. If he suggests doing another 3 weeks of chemo, I do know what I will look like and how awful it looks. It's much worse tonight than it was this morning. Think DN1 was correct in that it's getting worse very fast and will get better just as fast. I am still not going to bandage it. I do want to hide and not let anyone see me.

Somehow it's the latter half of June so I need to step up my search for a third vehicle as DD15 will become DD16 on 7/31. Any tips on good used vehicle websites? I'd rather not deal with slimy sales guys even if that means paying a bit more.
We currently have a 2019 crv with 30k miles on it that DH drives. Both DD and I feel like it's too small when we drive it, but he loves it.
I drive a 2013 sienna that just passed 168k miles. DD would love it as a hand me down.
I'd still need a minivan bc I'll be hauling around DD11 and her friends for the next several years. Used siennas hold their value and are hard to come by. Ideally I'd like to stay around the 100k mileage range so it has lots of life left. Prefer leather seats for ease of cleanup. Slightly newer with a better backup camera would be nice. Was hoping to stay around $15k but could push closer to $20k for the right deal.
I've also been watching for Highlanders or the larger frame Rav4 because I think DD would like those too.
I've run across a couple of rebuilt titles. Stay clear of those? We had a terrible hail storm a month ago so seeing some 'totaled' from that. I could care less about cosmetics so might be tempted by one of those if it's clear that's why it's rebuilt.

I'm so over this weather. It's been storming every damn day. Not all day, but every single day with torrential downpours. My yard is becoming a swamp and we haven't been able to make hay. Forecast is for more storms tonight, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. At least it's usually late afternoons or evenings and so far hasn't interrupted the contractors much, but after today it might. As much as I love coming home everyday to see what having 6 full time employees have done to fix things up while I was gone, I'm kind of ready for it all to be done. I've had people working on the place since mid-May.

I've run across a couple of rebuilt titles. Stay clear of those? We had a terrible hail storm a month ago so seeing some 'totaled' from that. I could care less about cosmetics so might be tempted by one of those if it's clear that's why it's rebuilt. I've had several, but my dad does autobody as a hobby and was the one that fixed most of them up so I knew exactly what it was and that they were fixed up properly. I also bought one rebuilt from the yard where they did the work, but my dad was familiar with the place and looked it over before I bought. There are a lot of car flippers out there that do shoddy work and I would probably not buy one without his assistance. The exception would be a hail damaged vehicle. I actually was looking for one when shopping for a car for older DS. I would have bought it not even fixed. Pre-dented teen car. LOL
Definitely request photos of what it looked like before they fixed it.

No. I like my other one and they don't give much on trade, but I thought I was going to be stuck until mid-July with no mower which is a hell no. I can barely make it 4 days without it getting bad with how much rain we've been getting.

I've had two but the first one was a friend of my dad's who is a mechanic. He rebuilt the engine of my 1993 Ford Taurus.
The second was my dad's 2005 Impala. It got rear ended so there was a lot of body work involved. The cost to repair the back of the car was more than the value of the car so the insurance company scrapped it.
My dad could fix it with help from a friend for $2500. I needed a new car because the previous car I just talked about finally rusted out. So I paid him to do the work and got myself a car that ran for another 7 years.
DH's current car is now a rebuilt because the cost to repair the damage after he was side swiped is more than the value of the car, at least according to their mechanics. All the car needs is a new passenger door and some touch up to the paint. The car runs fine. We are keeping it because in a couple years Gwen will need one. It's got less than 100,000 miles on it and will be a good teen driver car.
Definitely have someone you trust look over the car before you agree to purchase it. I would never buy one without having my dad give it a complete look over and even having him drive it first. He can recognize/hear noises I don't always pick up.

Storms are missing me. It's quite dark this morning, but doesn't seem like it's going to rain.
I could actually use some rain.
When I got my chai today, I was greeted with my name and I hope you start feeling better soon.
It was just the weekend help being shocked and not able to hide it.
