I am on the longest plane ride of my life. The actual flight is 4 hours, so bad enough. But we were delayed almost 2 hours for various issues, so instead of already being at my destination I’m still on my way. I’m so tired of this airplane.
The silver lining tho is that this is a work trip and bc I’m delayed I get out of set up type activities. So when I finally land I can just head straight to my hotel and find a snack before I have to be presentable for evening activities. Not sorry to miss all the pre-event “fun”.

Well eff. I just figured out I needed to file form 8621 due to some inherited stock, and that form is not supported by turbotax. Which means a paper return or a preparer Put it on the list of sh!t I didn’t want to worry about…and make a note to sell that particular holding Although really, if the difference is collectibles tax rate (28%) vs our current cap gains rate of 23.8%…also, my holdings are under the 50K l8mit for MFJ so maybe I’m okay?

Winding up my work day. I was on vacation last week, but we were so busy I'm still exhausted.
We had two birthdays to celebrate a week apart. In between those two days we did Kiddo's friend party and our beach vacation. Then Kiddo's actual birthday day and ended it all with Father's Day for DH. I'm still tired!
Trying to settle into a normal summer schedule now. We had two weeks of summer/no school but a lot of that was planning all the stuff for birthday and vacation. Kiddo still has her martial arts twice a week. Lots of free activities at the library on various days. Did manage to snag a spot for swimming lessons back in the beginning of March. Those started today. First lesson didn't go well. Kiddo was terrified to put her face in the water. While not unusual, DH and I are waiting to see how tomorrow goes. Fingers crossed it'll be better than today. We don't need her to be an Olympic swimmer, but she needs to be comfortable and confident enough in the water to be safe in a 6ft deep pool.
Also have some home maintenance/repairs to take care of. We haven't been putting it off due to cost, but due to time. Trying to schedule and coordinate service people drives me batty. And since DH has a set M-F schedule, I'm already doing a lot of kid related transport during the school year so it's difficult for me to flex my work days much more. With DH home this summer though, he has the time and availability to get some of these things taken care of.
Brooks the cat is still spoiled rotten. I finally ordered him a cat tree. We had one for our previous cats and got rid of it after they passed. I'd been waffling about getting another one. Part of it is the memory of our other cats, and part of it is the space. But, Brooks is less and less interested in his existing scratching posts/toys and he is also getting more creative in finding places to nap that are up high. Though, admittedly, there aren't a lot of up high places for him around the house. Back of the sofa or loveseat is about the highest thing we have in the living room for him. Anyways, cat tree will be here tomorrow.

Well, we had a fabulous time with DD2 and the grand-little. He was just a puddle of tears when it was time to say goodbye at the airport!
He is such a sweet boy. I hope life doesn’t steal that sweetness away.

I'm back home from the ortho, parked on the deck looking up the bone he thinks might have sustained a fracture. I'm streaming the news on my phone, but I'm also hearing what sounds like karaoke from some neighbor's backyard. lol.... it's not any of the immediate neighbors, but a few houses down toward the pond. whoever it is needs to not quit their day job. update from the appointment though - I have acquired another brace for now. it's this multi-strapped lace-up thing that reminds me of the solid one I have for my wrist a couple times a year. when I got home, I took my car out to 7-11 (maybe a half mile, R/T) to see what I felt. I think I might actually be able to drive with this new brace, obv doubling up with the bootie. and not, let's drive to Fenway on Friday, but I don't have to wait for someone else to pick me up to go buy produce at the grocery store for the pups. THAT is a win! but, back to my foot - Dr says there's no full breaks, I'd have been screaming with how he was manipulating my foot to poke around. but, between explaining where I'm feeling pain after I do X or Y and where I winced/squirmed during that major manipulation, he thinks there might be a fracture of what's called the cuboid bone. I've got an order for a CT scan at the local hospital, slated for Wed. I'm gonna call my insurance company in the am to insist they hurry up and approve it since it's already been 3w since I wiped out.

I am sitting in the garage with the door up, in my own little world. It started raining again, and I was like “wait, where is Newbie”?!
So I said Newbie, where are you, and she got up from the other side of my car, to come see what I wanted. Then I felt bad for making her get up for nothing.
She is so laid back that it’s easy to forget she’s even around.
I’d like to think that since it’s raining, I could bring Boy out too, but I’m not sure that I wouldn’t end up having to chase after him even in the rain, and that would really upset my nerves.

But I was wondering if it was anywhere close to you. nope! but thank you for checking in. that plane landed way out on Outer Cape in Eastham. I actually found out about it when I got home from a concert last night with my parents. we were in Hyannis for the show, and I live about 10min over the bridge and off-Cape. Eastham is a solid hour from me without summer traffic.

It's never a good thing when we have a name for a storm, spaghetti models for where it makes landfall, and the local news says don't park your car on the street. It's going to be fun to see some of my neighbors scramble because they have a full garage, a 4-car driveway, and 5 cars. First car I find parked in my yard or driveway without permission will have to be towed off b/c it won't be drivable. I do have 3 driveway spaces for rent @ $200/each

I did end up bringing Boy outside and it is raining hard enough that he is content staying in the garage. So hopefully he is learning to just relax with me, like Newbie does when I tell her to. I’m not really counting on it though lol.
I really wish I had a covered outdoor space to sit in when it’s raining. I didn’t have that at my other house either, and I use to sit in the garage with the door up sometimes there too, to watch the rain and soak up the sounds of it.
Several rainy and gloomy days in a row, is not good for my mental health because I NEED sunshine, but I can appreciate an occasional rainy day, and the sounds of normal thunderstorms are good sleeping sounds for me. “Normal”, as in not resulting in tornado watches and warnings, which is not unusual where I live.

So Boy just decided to wander out into the front yard, despite me telling him NO. He didn’t go far, but I had to go out in the rain to make him come back. So guess where he is now……. INSIDE the damn house.

so in building dinner bowls for the pups, I realized I'm apparently cooking a bunch tonight. I was all set to nuke a can of soup or toss some trashy frozen appetizers on a sheet pan for myself. pups need rice, a green veg (I have asparagus waiting to broil), and a little more protein at least for breakfast. I really wasn't feeling the need to bleach a bunch of stuff, but I will need to after budging those packages of BSCB.

Beef, pork, seafood - Lysol is good enough but I'm not playing with poultry.

Why do I have zero, zip, nada, absolutely no paper napkins in the house? Obviously I didn't put them on the list so I guess we will be "fine dining" for a few days with paper towels until the flooding rains pass. Definitely got TP so we're all good

Beef, pork, seafood - Lysol is good enough but I'm not playing with poultry. I'm usually pretty even-handed with raw meat or seafood, and that means full-on bleach as a rule. but I didn't realize til I got home with 2 family packs of BSCB that one of them was openly leaking. I actually ended up tossing the reusable bag from shopping, it was that bad. so I already know I'm cleaning the edged shelf and unpacking both packages, tossing the pair of salsa jars that were also on the shelf, and then dousing the counter once I'm done. oh, and the dishwasher is running now and won't get unloaded til the am, so the sink will be full overnight. that wasn't where my head was at after coming home from the ortho with yet another brace this afternoon. I just wanna go to bed. woof.

I think it's easily been a year since I have bought any, b/c I had 4 XL bottles of it after a few trips of thinking I needed a new bottle. lol... I'm finally on the last huge bottle of it, and it's about halfway gone.

We are more than mildly excited to discover a new Lebanese bakery not to far from us. Our fav closed last year when the founders retired and we've been missing them a lot. The new place has a wonderful menu with some items that are new to us (and we fell in love with Lebanese food in the mid-90's). They have green and black teas with your choice of mint or cardamon, plus several coffee selections. We'll check them out this weekend I think. If they offer the turkish or Persian coffee with cardamom, try it please. Its just a tiny shot, but very tasty.

TheOtherMe I am sorry about this current challenge, but hopeful that it will be temporary. We are all pulling for you to get better The process was explained to me in words. I wish I would have been shown pictures. I might have decided to go straight to surgery and be done with it. Since I return to surgeon next week, I may decide no more chemo just to get it over with. If he suggests doing another 3 weeks of chemo, I do know what I will look like and how awful it looks. It's much worse tonight than it was this morning. Think DN1 was correct in that it's getting worse very fast and will get better just as fast. I am still not going to bandage it. I do want to hide and not let anyone see me.

I am hoping I sleep better tonight. I set the alarm to take the trash from the garage to the end of the drive in the morning. I don't want to go out in the sun at all. I was warned the sun will make it feel like it's burning and I don't need that.
Cat boxes are clean. Trash is in the bin. It just needs to go to the curb in the morning before the sun comes up.
The people who said they would come and trim my lilac tree quit responding. Why bother if first you are going to postpone, postpone and then quit responding?
I am going to ask DN3 if he can trim it. He was able to spend the weekend in Newton at the Iowa Speedway for the races with his best bud. I didn't know he liked races. I know they are loud and loud noses bother him since his concussions. He also doesn't drink. In the pictures his friend posted, everyone except DN1 has beer in their hands. He can't drink since the concussions either.
If he agrees to trim the tree, I am going to suggest that he not bring his step son because the little guy is so empathatic that he would be quite upset by how I look and I don't want to upset him.

My old lawnmower is done already. Seriously? They told me weeks. Have to plan another road trip. So you didn't get another one? Did they just have a loaner?

No, I got another one...with a big-assed snowblower that took a forklift to unload. I assumed I would just have two with one as a backup or for dual mowing with a kid, but I didn't think they'd get the old one done so fast. I don't know when I'll get back down there. Probably not until Saturday as it's quite a haul and I have to borrow the truck and trailer again.

Definitely got TP so we're all good I bought a LOT of TP before DD's wedding just in case we got a bunch of unexpected company. Mercifully, the relatives left us alone, and just met everyone at the church. I now have enough TP to last probably another 4 weeks. Probably a good thing, since we've got rain in our forecast all week long.

PAIN IN THE ASS! that I’ve ever dealt with, human or animal. The video I posted on FB is really minor, when it comes to his shenanigans. But even with all of his bs, it’s impossible to not love him, and I do love his uglass even though he drives me nuts sometimes.
