I see a lot to like on this one - great square footage for the $$, yard is fully fenced, laundry area is awesome. Kitchen looks good too. Roof looks recent and in good condition. Adjacent properties look well maintained. Only thing I saw in the photos was an area just to the left of the water heater that was sort of dark, stained maybe.

My zucchini bread ended up baked a tad to long. It is a bit crusty on top. I think it will soften up though so I'm not too worried. Sometimes my banana bread does that, and the next day it is fine. Hmmm…I think I prefer it crusty on top.

It seems like the lot size is the biggest you’ve found. Do you like the location? I can definitely understand wanting to update it.

Back home. DH’s eyes swelled shut due to springtime allergies. I’m watching baseball and punching out clovers and hearts for the casino party next month.

this one is actually my favorite so far. carpet and paneling is cosmetic, and may be short change if the hardwood underneath is in good shape. def check that at inspection, if not before if you have the chance.

I'm sitting on the deck, debating what I feel like dealing with cooking for dinner. I just want to go to bed. I'm streaming Grumpier Old Men on the laptop and my former town team in the Cape Cod Baseball League on my phone. tonight is Opening Night and they can three-peat this summer. I hope I can get out to some games this year!

You'd need to get a riding mower. It's really fun.

Still within 15 minutes of downtown KC, but not in the hood. This one I would get a riding mower for. It's the only way I would cut my own grass. My dad will have to pick the mower and maintain it (I'll pay) because I don't know anything about them. I'll just learn how to drive it.

You can paint the paneling. I did in my house in Maryland. THe basement was paneled. I painted it all one light color then painted every third board a very slightly darker and redder color. It came out quite well.
Before you paint you wash it all with Spic and Span, rinse and let dry. Then you don't need to do any sanding.

I swear ‘fore cheese and crackers that I have been really trying lately…. To a certain extent lol….. but Mister still just gets on my nerves more than he ever has. Nothing major enough to cause constant arguments, just a consistent feeling of discontent or something, that I’m not use to feeling IRT him.
We have another appointment for couples counseling in a few days, and I’m not sure I even want to do it. I’m tired of being the one doing most of the real work to try to salvage our relationship. I went through a period recently, where I was willing to use whatever resources I could find, to try to do my part and even try to help him see what his part needs to be, but he isn’t putting any effort into it that I can see, so I’m kinda over that, and mostly thinking again, that I should use my counseling sessions to just work on me and leave my relationship out of it.
I would really prefer that we figure things out and have the life together that we planned to have. But so much has happened to throw us off track, and I can’t get us back on track by myself. We don’t even have to get back on track immediately, I just need to know and see some signs that he even wants to do so. And since I don’t, I will keep the rest of my thoughts to myself.

Yes! Plus I figured I could have my gym/office setup in the basement. That way I can utilize all 4 bedrooms as just that. Plenty of room for people to stay (hint, hint) and still have a bedroom for each of the girls should they have to move back home. Hopefully not. Plus room for my parents if they should have to move in. Again, hopefully not. Plus room for the twins! I think if I look at it and it's in good shape that I'll probably move forward.

Shopping with your tired rising first grader who was not properly socialized due to covid.
it's right above the level of hell hell that is little kid movies.

Oh that is so nice. Had you ever had a deck there before? The one at the house we bought, has no railings or anything either. Going to if hubs will change that. This one has to get railings as it's like 8 feet off the ground. I just noticed last night that the railing is going to butt right up against a window. I'm going to call him Monday and see if he's got any special plans for that. I was thinking to just angle the railing in the last little bit so the window can open 45 degrees or so. It might look a little odd, but that is a window that I do open quite a bit. Love the looks of your deck! Instead of angling the railing, stopping short however much it takes to open your window might work. Thinking a few feet of an opening would not be enough for a person to fall since they would have to walk sideways against siding to get to the open area. A raccoon on the other hand...

I have a deep freezer that’s mostly empty. It is a decent size, so if I put a large *something* in it soon, there should still be enough room for other *things*, if necessary. Still though, I think I prefer a certain poster’s ideas about using available land, and another poster’s scientific knowledge, over FrEEzers, when it is absolutely necessary to deal with wild animals that are running amok and wreaking havoc.

Slept well but had weird dreams (why was I stringing thousands of wooden beads on twine?). I'm headed to the farmers market after breakfast, laundry this afternoon. We're forecast for flooding rains Monday-Wednesday, so I'll hit the grocery store tomorrow. Maybe you were dreaming of making a noose for DH after he told you about giving his expensive toy away?

I'm not sure what is going on with hubs. He is changing so much I can't believe it.
He called this morning and is getting quotes from moving people to load, move, and unload all our furniture. Then he is saying we can get a cleaning service to clean the house. I know I had the windows done one year and that company does make ready work.
If I thought he would ever do something like this I would have fainted. What is happening to my hubs? I'm sure not complaining.
A no no happened today, Hubs told me to take DD and drive by the house and let DD see it too. So we did and I stopped to take a picture. Well the lady had the front door open and walked up and looked out. I felt awkward so I told her I was the person buying the house. She wanted me to come in and I kind of hemmed on that but did. Also she wanted to introduce me to her husband so I did go in. He asked me anything I wanted to know, they were lovely people. I told them the garage was what I wanted to see again and the hobby room. I found out the hobby room has baseboard heat so that's why the bills are high. The garage is really tall so hubs can build shelves in it to store things. It's drywalled and taped but they had never painted it so he wants to do that. I told him we were having a heat pump put in is why we didn't offer more. He said everyone out there had and that was a good idea, he said we just never got around to it. Since the floor is lower in there I'm wondering if we can't come through the wall with a couple of vents from the furnace. Baseboard heat is terribly expensive. Will check with the hvac people to see if that is possible.
I think we are going to have to do a catio, I saw baby bunnies in the yard and the lady said they are all over around there, so I can't see the kitties being a good match. I hope I can get hubs to build one, he has been very accommodating so far.
The husband was kind enough to show DD the room that would be hers and she is excited. Also the lady said all down one side of the house she raised vegetables so that would work for me.

Mid century modern, built in the same year as the house where I grew up. Has some of the same features. Looks like paneling is in the basement. The bathrooms appear to have been nicely remodeled. Mom didn't like the hardwood floors so as soon as shag carpet came to be, she carpeted the living room and bedrooms. When it sold this spring, all the hardwood floors were being used again. No carpet at all.

I'm not sure he can do that? I think as a licensed contractor he's required to build to code and the gap would be a no. I don't like to text him on his weekend, but I will right away Monday morning. I'm hoping he's already realized this issue and has ideas. I need to ask what he's doing about the downspout as well. I still need to have a gutter above that bit of roof so the downspout needs to go through the deck somewhere.

I have a stuff that has varnish and a stain in it. You can buy different colors. Or for the places water got to, I might be able to get some brush on stain that will work. First I will clean it good and no worse than it is I think it will be easy to fix. There is just the 2 doors and the plug wood covers above the doors.
I received the tenant approval form to sign. I'm sure they need license and stuff to check us out, no issue there.

My septic backed up into my basement yesterday. I had to leave work early and clean it. DH popped open the septic ports when he got home from work and it was a pile of toilet paper clogging the drain. He had to shovel it out. And then to get the dog managed to find either the TP in the woods or where I dumped out the shop vac and rolled in it.

Then the railing would end far enough away from the window that you could open it without any worries.
