Open house pool party in the books and no one wanted to go home. Good time had by all. For most of the time it was basically the same group as last soda inventing playdate, plus his female friend and her sister, who were initiated into the joys of mixing things that were never intended to be mixed. I highly recommend this as an activity for preteen parties. Overheard: Conversation on peach flavoring syrup “Are you supposed to add that to a drink to dilute it?” “You can, but you can also drink it straight!” Recycled the empty bottle this morning “I give that nine point half stars” Comment made to me “Can you be sure to plan the next thing really soon?”. The inflatable castle fell to attack by reusable water balloons…literally. They determined then you could angle the bottom flattish part at the waterfall wall and use it as an inflatable slide. Apparently FF’s clingy-to-the-point-of-toxic former BFF had asked first FF and then DS at school to be invited to the party, FF said DS handled it really well. I’d be fine with her coming if she wanted to hang out with DS but I think it was more about hanging out with FF, who wanted some space. Anyway, I didn’t hear about it till the party was nearly over so letting it lie. We have an absolute crapload of leftovers, partly because you plan for the max and some maybes didn’t make it but also bc I invited parents and siblings (open house) but two of the families were instructed by their offspring in no uncertain terms that they were not allowed to attend. One of the kids blew up his mom’s phone requesting she bring some things by and then apparently kicked her out again when he realized she was hanging around after doing so That particular one has had some separation anxiety so this is simultaneously progress, bittersweet bc yay independence boo growing up, and hilarious bc 11yo logic. What ingredients did you provide for mixing experiments? I can see dd11 and her friends liking that given I found a nasty mix of fruity pebbles, coffee grounds and chocolate syrup.

I need to fix breakfast, grilled cheese for the kids, they always want that and I will have some bacon and eggs.
It is really pretty out today. I'm going to wash the last blanket and the sheets off grandson and my bed today. Next week won't take much to be ready to leave. Mopping and vaccing. We are eating out too much but I don't want to stock more food with only being here another week. And I definitely need to mow. I have not trimmed or worked on the sidewalk like I intended to do.
I am watching on Utube a police chase. Where do people get cars that will go almost 200 mph? I can't tell what kind of car it is as its dark.

You know we were talking about buying from Temu. I bought a top from Amazon and then was just looking through Temu and saw the same exact blouse for about $10 less. Think a lot of sellers are sourcing from the same places.

I'm unclear on the Vanguard side. Was the letter dated 5/31? The initial stamp on that envelope? Because of how Trump and his handpicked postmaster trashed the Post Office, timing is not what it was. It is no longer reasonable or in spec for a letter being mailed on 5/31 to arrive by 6/7. In the past, 5 business days max was the benchmark for mailing cross country. Now I think it is 7 business days. Because of Trump and that postmaster lots of equipment was retired early and processes intentionally trashed. I don't think many businesses have readjusted their timing on things. I called mid-week to get something sent to me. The timing is allegedly 10 business days; however it seems part of that is at least 3 to 4 business days of processing by this company I dealt with. I need to call on Monday to find out if it was even mailed out yet. The initial attempt failed, and the one to my sister in TN took closer to three weeks instead of two to get there. Unless Vanguard easily mailed it more than 8 business days in advance (10 to 14 biz days would be more reasonable actually), I think they probably deserve part of the blame. Nope. The letter was dated the 28th. The envelope was stamped the 31th in Philadelphia. And it was delivered yesterday - the 7th. Since Friday mail is delivered after 5pm I did not see the letter until today. I will call on Monday of course but it just p*sses me of that it takes that long to deliver a letter. Probably more so because it is the result of Fopa's "only the very best" choice of Postmaster General who in his wisdom decided to dismantle/reduce many of the postal services. Like timely delivery... Vanguard headquarters are in Malvern, PA in suburban Philly, so it makes sense that it that is quickly posted in Philly. I'd imagine it went to the Southeastern, PA post office then to Philly for its adventure cross country. Just sucks that whatever happened between origin and destination is all Louis DeJoy's fault.

San Antonio is a fun city. I’ll also be there this fall (probably more than I’d like to be, haha) for work. So many fun things to do an good restaurants to try! I was thinking about taking the girls there for a weekend. It's a good trip. I just need to find a sitter for the twins.

I'm really going to have to get my ass in gear this summer.
And I don't want to.
I want to you know, rest, relax and indulge in hobbies.
We still haven't recovered from the clusterf that was 2021.
I can see the writing on the wall, though. I think the next two years, we're going to be so busy we won't know if we are coming or going.
And, sure, I guess DD1 having her license eventually will help. But it's not going to make up for having three kids in the thick of things, and all the extra things of senior year, plus getting the peanut ready for high school.
(Sit with that one, a moment folks. The peanut has two more years and then starts high school).

Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, many others out of a showroom are good for 150+. DH did 110 on a closed track in a Cadillac V. Right now he's drooling over some little Toyota thing that produces 300 hp straight off the showroom floor, no modifications.

Sounds like andi made it to the airport, and the bar, long before I made it home. Jeez, I'm following Malarky next time. 495 sucked for about an hour. Bretta wouldn't let me use the bathroom by myself. I think she might have missed me. I don't think she smelled the foot that Murphy bathed this morning. Hera's just like feed me and Peaches won't come out from behind her perch. Nothing new there.

A ton of those little packets of Kool Aid flavor, the ones where you add the sugar, in various flavors-thought for sure I overbought but there are only about four left of 20-30. I previously provided fresh lemons and limes and a juicing thingy but those were ignored as clearly too healthy Last time I set out plastic measuring cups and cylinders , which were well used but they did fine this time when I forgot them. I had clear disposable cups, normal size and shot glass size for tasting, and plastic gold flecked stir sticks. Also something to record their creations (last time little spiral notebooks, this time recipe cards) and they really enjoyed the star stamp I bought for ranking Did not acquire, and should have: a plastic waterproof disposable tablecloth. You’ll want paper towels at the ready too. I hid the milk

Usual Sunday here - breakfast, cleaning, shower. I made out next week's menus, and I've done most of the brokerage reconciliations. Local meteorologist says something may pop up in the Gulf next weekend, maybe first named storm, so I'll have to hit the store and the bank on Wednesday for storm foods and extra cash. Got a meeting tomorrow night - last month's lasted 2-1/2 hours

I watched a good reel on FB yesterday, some comedian whose name I don't remember. He specializes in dead pan one-liners. He said, "Oh, excuse me, would you please repeat that? I was distracted wondering how closely your parents were related."

It's a champagne-soaked and emissions-heavy weekend in Montreal. 115 private jets of the super-rich have landed at Mirabel airport. I'm watching the F1 race on TV. The stands are packed, despite the drizzle. It's a beautiful track, on an island.

Simon and Melody visited yesterday. It was nice to see them, despite their heavy hearts about putting their cat down. They said the people at the SPCA were super-nice and only charged them $15, so Simon gave them a big donation

The first time I had to put a cat down was in 1979 or 80. I don't know if individual cremation was a thing yet. The vet only offered Humane Society cremation.
He was the same vet that put down Benjamin many years later and I was offered his cremains and Humane Society cremation was not mentioned.

I took both DDs and DD1’s best friend to our neighborhood pool today. My mom met us at the pool for a bit too. A good time was had by all! The girls were hungry so ordered Dominos. The best friend is gluten-free so it was quicker to order pizza that cook something. While DD1 was finish eating, best friend and DD2 are playing with Play-doh. I’m getting ready to get DD2 and get her showered before best friend goes home. Not sure when her mom picks her up.

That 6 hr drive took me about 4 hours. My personal best was 90 in a Nissan pickup truck. Good fun on an empty highway. Now the speed limit on our crowded urban freeways is 60-65, most folks do 70-80 and it's scary AF. Guy shot and killed this weekend for driving the limit.

Me: Was I doing something wrong officer? Officer: I clocked you doing 97. Me: My car won’t go that fast! He laughed and asked if I had cruise control Me: Yes sir Him: put it on cruise till you leave Louisiana! I still had to cross another state in a hurry in order to get to work. This was on a Monday. I was only 30 minutes late!! Ah, the good old days.
