Our current house had two pending sales fall through before we bought it. We were able to get it for 20k less than the previous offers because issues found at inspections made it ineligible to finance with government loans (FHA, VA, and USDA). We had a conventional loan so we were able to buy it, but we did spend a lot more than the 20k fixing the issues that made it ineligible for government of loans.

o.m.g. My stomach has not been happy since late last night. Idk why. Earlier today, I was doubled over several times, because my stomach was hurting so bad. I couldn’t hear and process anything anybody was trying to say to me, my whole world in those moments, was how bad my stomach was hurting. Idk what caused that today. It’s not even over yet, DAMMIT, because I could not eat dinner. I am trying to not let it discourage me so much that I don’t feel like tomorrow can be a fresh start, but oooh weee, I’d really like to just be a normal person and not have all of this dumb shit to deal with. So you can probably already guess what imma say next lol….. Imma just go to bed and try again tomorrow.

Back from the wedding. For awhile today, I wondered if we’d get rain but when we left it was clear. Windy, but clear. Wedding was held at the groom’s family home, which was huge. It was a beautiful location, and there was a magnificent sunset to top it off. Bride arrived in a horse drawn carriage.
DS and I got a snicker. The music the groomsmen and bridesmaids came down the aisle was the same as my sister used 30 years ago (Bryan Adams Everything I do, I do for you). Some of the music started out 1980s/1990s, then a lot of new stuff. Old stuff was thrown in, including Bee Gees but no one knew how to disco.
It was good seeing my brother and his kids today. I think the last time I saw them was 8 years ago.
This is 2 weddings down, one on deck for Sept and another 4 left.

I am enjoying little guy. I was telling him looks like he is going to have a cleft chin and he said how could he. He said mom nor dad has it. So I explained it could be back in the family somewhere though I don't know of anyone that had it. So he was researching recessive genes and I also explained his mom could have half and his dad half. So he is reading further to understand how he could have this. Once he asks a question he starts digging in.
He told me last night because I am afraid of spiders I have arachnophobia, that we have not discussed.
And he is very curious about math. He was doing math and finding the length of the long leg of a triangle.
Then I turn the paper over and he is working on SinA and CosA and I have no idea if his answer is right.
He told me he is going to get an award for perseverance, he will not give up if he doesn't understand something. I think that is a good quality to have. I enjoy listening to him. But I have not done any math like that for over 50 years and never used it so I really don't remember. I wish he could take it now while his little mind is like a sponge.
He just looks up everything. Today I showed him an old manual typewriter like I learned on at the radio station and he explained to me where the home keys are. I told him that's good and he needs to build from that and learn touch typing even if you can talk to computers and have them write.
Then he came back and told me people also have agoraphobia, fear of small places and stuff.
He is fast getting beyond what I can help him with. Yesterday we saw a program on what all the lights mean when the engine is on and which ones are serious or just a warning, so he was watching all that when I started the car today. I told him that is important to know too.
But I teach him little things like how to tell if corn is fresh, by peeling back the ear and popping a kernel with your nail. If its easy and milk comes out its good corn to eat on the cob. Or how to smell the end of a cantaloupe and tell if its ripe.
His Russian is taking off and I think he will be able to communicate with his relatives and I imagine by the time he gets back, he will be speaking it very good.
I am sure enjoying him. I was curious like him too but we did not have the resources to learn at our fingertips like kids do now. I think its wonderful.
We are letting him watch Utube but trying to keep him away from the bad stuff, with me I know what he is watching.
He told me he was looking at a game today that was offensive. In the game they had a comparison to a Pearl Harbor attack and he said that isn't good.

I know in Texas if you had an inspection that report had to go to the next buyer, you could not withhold it. That way the buyer knew what had failed. I don't know if other states do that or not. But in Texas the real estate and inspection industry has a tight hold on buyers and sellers, at least around the cities.

Good morning, erudite invisipeeps of Y Ma'am, breaking down barriers and building boundaries as needed. Welcome to Sunday, one week to Father's Day and a likely good day in its own right. I hope you savor the day and enjoy a Sunday sundae. I need to hard cook some eggs for breakfasts. The problem of the week is that the remote control that operates the ceiling fan and light in our primary bedroom is missing. Neither DH nor I can remember when we saw it last; the fan stays off in the winter and the light is generally unneeded in this room. I can turn the fan only on by the switch, but only at high speed and it makes a clicking sound after a time that keeps DH awake. A few days ago the fan mysteriously turned on about midnight at a low speed, which pleased me. The next night it switched itself to high speed. So someone in the area must have a remote that shares a signal with our fan, and uses it about midnight. It hasn't happened since. In the meantime I've searched everywhere I can think to for the remote. Also ordered a replacement from Amazon but unfortunately it wasn't a match; I ordered a remote for a Hampton Bay ceiling fan such as we had in Maryland but not here. Now I have a useless to us remote and have no idea which will work for this one. I can't even tell with certainty what brand I have. I know I bought the fan from Costco.com. The ceiling is really high, probably 12 feet, maybe more. I'd replace both remote and receiver if I had the ladder to do so, but I don't. Damn, I wish I could find the remote! Sorry for writing a book, but right now I tend to dwell on things with my sludgy brain. Yesterday we saw some birds at the beach before dawn, mainly gulls. Then I saw the Great Blue Heron fishing in the rocks in the cove:

My poor husband. He hates flying so much. I tried to convince him we needed to be at the airport by 5am this morning. He couldn’t process what I was saying and insisted we didn’t need to be there until 5:30. We missed our flight. I should have been firmer with him. We are driving home now. We will head back in a few hours.

That is good. I did not like that one at all, except for the price that is. When I saw the two contigent offers and no garage, that was an easy no if I was house hunting. Something's up for two sales to fall through. With our current house, we were the third actual contract. The first buyers insisted the roof be replaced. With the timing, it took over two months for that to happen, and the buyers didn’t want to wait that long. However, the previous owners had the roof replaced anyway since that was now a known issue. The second buyer needed up in the hospital with COVID, so they backed out due to medical necessity. At that point, the house had been listed for almost two years. We got it at a really good price, and it’s an excellent house and property.

I want to take my Grandbabies to a safari type thing this summer, where you drive through and see the animals, and can feed them through your car windows. It is less than a 2 hour drive, so it can be a day trip. I also want to take them to Magic Springs, a water park in Hot Springs, AR. That is a little farther. When my children were young, I took them to a water park about 3 hours away in a different direction, and we drove down that morning and came back that evening. I’m old now, I don’t think I want to do it like that lol. I’d rather drive there one day, spend the next day at the water park, and come home the day after that. Which would mean I’d have to finagle an extra day off work, which might require some shenanigans since I don’t have any leave. But it would be worth it to me, to be able to do that with my Grandbabies. They won’t be my babies for forever, and I want to do stuff like that with them and make memories with them, while I can. That is one good thing about my days off work being week days, going places like that won’t be quite as crowded as on the weekend days. I haven’t said anything to Mister yet, it will be at least another month before I can do either anyway. But I will tell him my plans and ask if he’d like to go and take Kiddo. If Mister doesn’t go, I’m not taking Kiddo, because dealing with 4 children by myself is a lot. Just my 3 Grandbabies will be out of my element, I’ve only ever dealt with 2 children at once on trips and such lol. The good thing is that before a couple years ago, going without Mister or another adult, wouldn’t have even been an option, because I’d always been afraid to travel period by myself, even if it’s not far. Even when I did the day trip to a water park with my children, a coworker/friend went too, with her children. We drove our own cars, but still, I was not the only adult. I doubt Mister will go, because he has become even more adamant about not taking off work, now that he is the top manager for his department. I understand the responsibility, but I don’t understand letting a job take over your whole life and not even trying to have some kind of balance with your personal life. But that is him, and I’m not going to let it stop me from doing what I want to do. When I drove to NOLA by myself for a business trip (with encouragement from you all, telling me I could do it), that was a game changer for me. Then I flew to Pittsburgh by myself in April. My boss and another guy I knew were on the same flights, which was comforting to me, even though it wasn’t quite the same as being with someone I had a personal relationship with. That changed the game even more, and made me feel like I can fly by myself too. Not being so afraid to travel by myself makes me feel like I am really, finally growing up. I’d really like to also run away with Mister for a couple of days like we use to do, but I will be happy if I can just do those 2 things with my Grandbabies this summer. I will be in Texas this fall, for the annual seminar for my side gig. I’ve always practically begged Mister to go to the seminars with me, because I was so afraid of traveling by myself. This year, I will ask him to go, but if he doesn’t, I’m good with going by myself. I know it probably sounds silly to most people, but I am really proud of myself for having overcome yet some more of my fears. What part of TX? If it's DFW, I can probably arrange to be there then too.

I love the missy so much.
I also was hoping to have more than two hours before I heard "mama, blah blah blah" every 17 seconds.
I wish I was exaggerating the time. DS and DD1 are like quietly watching a movie together. it is sweet. I will be grateful when the missy hits that stage.

Knee Deep in Water Chloe, one thing I've discovered in my research is that newer fans and remotes can be paired. The remote would have a pairing function, a button near the battery often. Look up your remote online. Worth a shot.

I slept fitfully last night. I was having a nightmarish dream and every time I went back to sleep, it just continued.
The dream was when I went in for the check up on my skin cancer, the doctor said it's fatal. He already told me this is 100% curable. Dr Google says the same thing. The dermatogist says the same thing.
My nose is so raw that it hurts to put the topical chemo on. I know it's on my brain and I can't get the thoughts to stop. Wednesday night is the last dose for this round.

My stupid goat. She's getting old and I think she's gotten to the age where she doesn't give a shit about what I want her to do, she's going to do what she wants. She refuses to go into the pen with Gus in the morning anymore and instead makes a break for pretty much anywhere else. The pasture, the hay field, the chicken coop... Every morning is me chasing her around and around. I wouldn't care if she was loose because she eventually pens herself back up, but I don't want her eating the new corn and they've been spraying the clover and I don't want her eating herbicide either. She's getting impossible though and might end up being left locked in the barn during the day for awhile.
Other than chasing the goat, I need to get something done today. Yesterday was kind of a bust. I think I'll start with a trip to Sam's Club. That's an easy one that might get me going. After that I really need to set up my mower with my spare deck. I'm 90% certain this was the deck that ate belts like nobody's business though, so I'm not sure it's a great idea without replacing pulleys first.

Pink Cashmere Your post about taking the grands to Magic Springs made me smile. My DH and I lived in that area for many years, but this was many many years ago. I love Hot Springs! We try to get back there every few years. Last time we visited we stayed in an old motor-court inn that had been restored. Ate at a couple of wonderful restaurants, we just enjoyed it. If McClard's BBQ is still open, you guys should check it out! There is also a good German restaurant at Spencer's Corner! There was an alligator farm and a petting zoo someplace, maybe they are still around?

It's noon and over 90 already. Glad I did my run early. Stopped at Walmart for more sunscreen, came home and made breakfast and iced tea for myself. Will do my blog, wash the kitchen floor and wash my car (the car will get done much later).

Open house pool party in the books and no one wanted to go home. Good time had by all. For most of the time it was basically the same group as last soda inventing playdate, plus his female friend and her sister, who were initiated into the joys of mixing things that were never intended to be mixed. I highly recommend this as an activity for preteen parties. Overheard: Conversation on peach flavoring syrup “Are you supposed to add that to a drink to dilute it?” “You can, but you can also drink it straight!” Recycled the empty bottle this morning “I give that nine point half stars” Comment made to me “Can you be sure to plan the next thing really soon?”. The inflatable castle fell to attack by reusable water balloons…literally. They determined then you could angle the bottom flattish part at the waterfall wall and use it as an inflatable slide. Apparently FF’s clingy-to-the-point-of-toxic former BFF had asked first FF and then DS at school to be invited to the party, FF said DS handled it really well. I’d be fine with her coming if she wanted to hang out with DS but I think it was more about hanging out with FF, who wanted some space. Anyway, I didn’t hear about it till the party was nearly over so letting it lie. We have an absolute crapload of leftovers, partly because you plan for the max and some maybes didn’t make it but also bc I invited parents and siblings (open house) but two of the families were instructed by their offspring in no uncertain terms that they were not allowed to attend. One of the kids blew up his mom’s phone requesting she bring some things by and then apparently kicked her out again when he realized she was hanging around after doing so That particular one has had some separation anxiety so this is simultaneously progress, bittersweet bc yay independence boo growing up, and hilarious bc 11yo logic.

Went to a local sports bars at 10 am to watch the Phillies v. Mets in London. Breakfast sandwich and a couple of screwdrivers is the way to start a Sunday!

What part of TX? If it's DFW, I can probably arrange to be there then too. San Antonio Ooh, I might be able to be in the area at that time!

What a blast, lurkyloo! I laughed to think of the kids in the pool and inventing beverages.
