Yikes! Sorry about the snake, Pink. I'm glad you all are safe.
Countrygirl, I'm sorry for all you're going through with your MIL. But I'm glad you have your DGS there, as a distraction.
Soupandstew, I'm glad your results came back good.
Chiver, I'm sorry you're having work issues. I hope your boss will help.
I know there are more, that I missed. I apologize. Please know that I care.
Hugs ♡❤♡

Do you have water sitting out on the deck for the dog? In Texas when it got brutally hot they would come to the outside faucet area as there was moisture around there. I forget what state you are in.
It could be a copperhead, we had them in Texas.
When we bought this house the seller said there were lots of snakes around here. I have only seen one in the 10 years we have lived here. But we keep the lawn mowed down and all the weeds cleared out so they don't hang around much in areas like this. The one I did see was a small green snake that stuck it's head up about a foot outside our bedroom window. Never saw it again.
But right now I bet they are just looking for water.
Sorry it scared you, I killed several at the house in Texas.

My husband was there for sometime today. From reading information here I did not know about people dying, I would not be surprised if someone has tried to give her water. I know they told me they were using those swabs on her mouth.
Hubs said she did not move at all while he was there, and the hospice people came in to bathe her. They told him sometimes moving them caused them to pass. But like I said before this poor lady is going to hang in there I feel. They stopped all meds at least a week ago. What a sad situation for her and for the people caring for her.
He is going to go see her everyday till she passes I guess, not sure what else to do. With my mom it happened pretty quickly. She got pneumonia, we did not treat and she only lasted overnight till the next day.

Sorry it scared you, I killed several at the house in Texas. We do have a water bowl on the deck for the dog. Mister is religious about emptying it and turning it over every evening. I rinse it out and fill it with fresh water during the day when Newbie goes out on the deck with me. After the squirrels started eating my tomatoes, we tried leaving water in the bowl, but they still ate my tomatoes, so now Mister is back to emptying it and turning it over every evening. It rained a lot last night, my little rain gauge has almost 2 inches of water in it, and it wasn’t as hot today as it has been lately. Lower 90’s instead of upper 90’s or 100 and above degrees. Mister thinks that’s maybe why the snake was on the move today, because of the rain last night and slightly cooler temps. He seems to think that when it gets brutally hot again (starting tomorrow) they will go back into hiding. That’s just his idea, idk how accurate it is, if at all. Since it’s been explained to me that king snakes aren’t venemous and eat some of the stuff I’d prefer not be near my house, including other snakes, I’ve tried to adopt a live and let live policy for them. But I need them to stay off the deck, and away from me. I’m not sure the one today was a king snake though. I didn’t linger, trying to get a good look at it, I just ran. I don’t think I’m brave enough to kill a snake. If it was after one of my grandchildren, yeah, I’d do anything to protect them. Other than that though, I’m running for my life.

We are going to the Y earlier tomorrow. The instructor is going to have little guy jump off the diving board and they won't do it when anyone is there. I think there is a life guard there too, there always is. She had him sitting on the bottom of the pool today and springing up. He swam a bit without his float on today.
I talked to son and told him he really needs to continue lessons, he is wondering if he can continue in group lessons now. I don't see why not. He isn't afraid, of course I worry that he is too brave, but that is just me.
Next year the pool will be open in town so that should work well. Also if he needs more lessons I'm sure they will be giving them.

@pink what kind of a snake was it? I’d have freaked out in your shoes too, but personally I’d feel better if I knew it was a „harmless“ variety. I’m not sure. Mr. T said he thought it was a king snake and pulled a picture up of one on his phone. Mrs. T and I disagreed that it looked like the picture, that the markings on the one on the deck were more diamond shaped. She got a better look at it than I did though, since all that registered in my head was “SNAKE” before I took off running. She described the eyes and shape of its head and said she didn’t think it was venemous, but it still didn’t look like the picture Mr. T showed us. The ones Mister has seen before, have been king snakes, he thinks. But Mrs T and I were talking today about how people in the neighborhood have been saying they’ve seen water moccasins and I’ve seen on the NextDoor App, people talking about, I think copperheads. What happened today is exactly one of the reasons I hate them. Because they can sneak up on you without you hearing or seeing them. It was only about 3 feet from me when it knocked the broom over. It scares the crap out of me thinking that it could have gotten even closer if the broom falling hadn’t made me turn and look behind me.Well, the same can be said for kittens.

And when I was saying how much I appreciated Mr and Mrs T trying to get the snake for me, I forgot to say that Mrs. T said Mr. T is afraid of them and the last one that got in their yard, she had to deal with it.
That makes it even more awesome that they showed up for me. If I could be their kind of scared, and still do shit anyway instead of running, that would be great.

Today is my son's birthday. His dad called to wish him a happy birthday and to tell him he's got Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Now DS can't stop crying. What a shitty thing to do on his birthday! Your Ex is really an A-Hole to say that on your son's birthday

You should get a mongoose. They kill snakes....little snakes, big snakes and King Cobras. I would much rather have the snakes (as long as they weren't venomous). The mongoose would kill all my chickens. We saw mongooses at Diamondhead. The locals said to stay away from them because they were mean.

I am still sitting on the deck with Mister and Newbie keeping me company. It’s almost dark now, so I gotta go inside. I DEFINITELY can’t sit out here in the dark anymore.

Shouldn't it be mongeese? English is weird. Look at that face! Does it look mean to you?

I looked it up cause I wondered, too. Everything I found said "mongooses" is preferred. The ones we saw weren't as cute as this guy. The were really quick, too, darting in and out of foliage. I was afraid they'd run up my leg or something lol.

Well, hubs mom is finally out of her pain and done with the horrible Alzehimer's. I think as much as anything hubs feels relief for her. Our son is wondering if he needs to come down, I told him at this point I would not worry about it. Of course, he feels like he should, I'm sure. But he came to see her when she still knew him, same with my mom so I think that is more important.
95 years old, quite a long life.
He changed his mind about cremation, we are going with a closed casket with a service at the cemetery, honestly, I think that is better.
All of you and your families, rest well and have peace this night.

I am working on reconciling DD's account, I've let them all go for 6 months, bad me. But it won't be bad, and will do MIL's next. Then our LLC. It's past catch up time. But none are as involved as they used to be.

Good morning, introspective invisipeeps, making your way through the days. Happy Tuesday to you. I hope your day offers you contentment and serenity.
Yesterday my next-door neighbor agreed with no problem at all to allow our Pod to be placed in her driveway next week. One huge problem resolved. Now, what very nice thing can I do for her/give to her as a thank you? She's a snowbird in I think her late 60's or 70's.
I'm hoping today my new sink and garbage disposal are installed. Shades due to arrive; I'll put them up Thursday with help from DSis. Today I'll finish the major cleaning step of the process of deodorizing the great cat pee stink. Once as much paint as I can get off is gone and the concrete has dried for at least 24 hours I'll use the enzymatic cleaner. Already it's much, much better.
I made reservations yesterday for a rental car and then a rental cargo van* to retrieve the rest of our belongings from Virginia. We'll go there the week after next week which is when the Pod will be delivered and emptied.
*The van costs $1000 one way to rent and there's no guarantee it will be a van. They could "upgrade" it to a box truck, like it or not. THere's a shortage of vans. A large part of me wants to just abandon everything there!

Morning all. Eating breakfast trying to locate my motivation. finnime Are the items in VA heavy. Would it be more economical to UPS or Fedex items? Thought on thank you gift for your neighbor - baked treat or gift card to a restaurant.

Thanks for the thank you ideas, ners. The items in Virginia are in aggregate bulky and heavy, yes. I guess this will be our vacation this year, didn't have the extra $$ in the budget.
