So, here's my son, upset and crying, and all I could say was 'Oh. He's dying AGAIN? I hope he has life insruance."

Hubs said his mom is still hanging in there. He said all the time he was there he never noted her breathing changing, it was labored. She of course is in a bad way, its just how long the poor old thing can drag it out.
They have thought a couple of times she would pass away. I don't think she has been taking food or water for days. But then she drank little water anyway so likely spent a lot of time dehydrated.
You know she and I think her mom and others used to make iced tea, they loaded it with that artificial sweetener. I finally quit using it many years ago, the stuff isn't good for you. I know we are still getting that stuff in our diet drinks but not the same kind. She also used those pans lined with that self-stick coating till it was totally gone. I have read that both contribute to Alzheimer's. I quit cooking in aluminum long ago and started using iron and steel only.
I try to be careful; I so hope hubs never gets this; I don't want to see this happen to this able man. That scares me more than anything.

I quit cooking in aluminum long ago and started using iron and steel only. I try to be careful; I so hope hubs never gets this; I don't want to see this happen to this able man. That scares me more than anything. No food or water produces feelings of euphoria in dying patients. When families would ask that we just let their loved ones go, it's NO food or water. There was always some idiot nurse's aide, who would force sips of water on a dying patient...."But she's thirsty!", prolonging a long and painful death. All the progress we made putting the patient in a state of euphoria, undone by a few sips of water! “What my patients have told me over the last 25 years is that when they stop eating and drinking, there’s nothing unpleasant about it -- in fact, it can be quite blissful and euphoric,” said Dr. Perry G. Fine, vice president of medical affairs at the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization in Arlington, Va. “It’s a very smooth, graceful and elegant way to go.” ------------ That pain of hunger is only felt by those who subsist on small amounts of food and water -- victims of famine, for instance, or concentration camp inmates. They become ravenous as their bodies crave more fuel, Sullivan said. www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2005-mar-23-sci-schiavodeath23-story.html

Trying to be productive at work and failing miserably. I have a very stressful week ahead of me. Just a heads up I may not be around much this week.

I love reading correspondence between attorneys, especially when one of them has a razor-sharp mind and tongue. I'm going to have one phrase printed out and framed for my office wall, "...your nominal representation of your mythical anonymous clients..." If this freak show makes it onto a courtroom docket, I want to have front row seats for the hearing. Based on the ignorance and arrogance shown by opposing counsel in his correspondence, the fool will probably get smacked down by the judge in the first 15 minutes, if not sooner. Something tells me this guy may have missed Courtroom Smarts 101, "Don't try to tell the judge the law or how to rule on your case", which goes double if the judge is female.

sorry for the vague details, I'm not thrilled about this event here. chatting with my boss about a current roadblock I have, I asked him to respond to an email thread (with a wide distribution) because the pair of guys that are the roadblock ignore me, and go around me any chance they get. they want to lump onto a deviation of mine because something they did - without involving me as site lead - led to another problem for the same documentation. I responded back to the full distribution that the two aren't related, b/c I wasn't involved with the change control that drove the doc update that didn't happen for YOUR issue. why you're not involving the site QA lead in your own records doesn't mean that I now own the deviations that result from it. sorry boys, those are YOURS. I said to my boss today, I've got a sour thought about the stereotypes of some Indian men and their opinion of a woman telling them what to do. because that's exactly what this feels like. I've lived it before, and these two aren't speaking over any men on calls....just the women in various roles. I also said, it wasn't anything I would ever say in an open call, but would appreciate his chiming in to the thread because maybe these assholes would listen to him saying the same thing I have been.

to everyone who needs them. Being a klutz finally caught up with me at work this morning. Sliced my thumb pretty good on the blade of the Ninja blender. Bled A LOT. My coworker joked I will bleed all over the floor but won't donate blood. Dude I'd LOVE to do it but the weight limit prevents me. Clearly I have enough blood to spare as evidenced by the sink. Blood doesn't bother me with what I do for a living. I am more scared of getting in trouble. That and dealing with employee health which yay I don't have to do that here! I put a band aid and some gauze and I'm fine. This did make me long for the day of jeans with snaps. I had a bit of difficulty in the bathroom turns out you need your thumbs to button your pants. In case you guys weren't aware of that. yet another reason pants should be optional That is why I like pull up pants that expand with me . Also no need to mess with difficult buttons or unzipped zippers where I unknowingly expose myself.

Just back over the border and on the way to pick up the mutt.
I thought about next year trying to rent a cabin for a week and bringing Harriet with us, but apparently no dogs allowed in cabins. B&B we stayed outdoes not allow dogs either. I’ll probably book there next year too, nice place and comfortable beds.

My nerves are SO bad. I was sitting on the deck, Newbie was down in the grass. I keep a broom on the deck in the corner between the chimney and sliding door. The broom fell over and the noise made me turn around and look and it was a big ass snake on the deck. I took off running, screaming Mister’s name and yelling for Newbie and she ran behind me out the gate. I came around the house and went inside through the garage. I left my phone on the deck. Mister had JUST left, for a dentist appointment. YD and I were peeping through the sliding door and it had moved, so she offered to get my phone for me, my phone was just a few steps away, but I was terrified. After she got back inside and I slammed the door shut again, I was still looking for it through the door and saw just the tip of its tail, under the firepit. Mr and Mrs T both came over to try to get it, but it got away and ran under the deck. No more deck time for me. I’m SO glad it knocked the broom over, because it was behind me, and if not for the noise when the broom fell, it could’ve been right next to me before I saw it. My hands are still shaking and my heart is still racing.

Hope you can catch your breath soon, Pink. Make loud noises when you go outside; stomp your feet or something.

I looked for the what's for dinner thread and couldn't find it. I make a skillet recipe out of the ingredients for stuffed green peppers. Much easier, tastes the same.
I had left over sliced peppers and chopped onion. I just browned the meat, made the rice and put the peppers and onions in to steam with tomato soup.

Evidently, Barbara's family doesn't like her beau, either. It's not just me. He's not allowed to go see her...it's in her chart. He wanted to bring her home. Sure, an alcoholic forklift operator knows just how to treat a post-op patient with a pulmonary embolism and severe head trauma. What could possibly go wrong? It wouldn't surprise me at all, if by the time she's discharged, he will have sold all her stuff.

Thank you for the hug and understanding. Mister knows how much I enjoy sitting on the deck and he doesn’t want me to be afraid to do what I enjoy, so he insisted I come out with him for a while even though he doesn’t sit outside when it’s hot. Newbie is sniffing all around where it was and where it went off the deck. I’m pretty sure if she’d been on the deck instead of down in the grass, it wouldn’t have been able to get so close to me without me knowing, but I’m kinda glad she wasn’t up here, because I don’t want her to tangle with a snake and get bitten. I’m also glad she is obedient and I only had to scream her name once as I was running across the deck and she immediately came running out the gate with me. I appreciate what Mister is trying to do by getting me to come back outside and coming with me, but I’m still super nervous.

JFC. DH got a debt collection notice. Due date on the debt is May 11. He went in circles with them (pest control company) bc he refused to make a portal account and they wouldn’t take a card over the phone, they finally gave him a paper bill and he mailed the check two weeks ago.

Wow.

And I want to say that Mr and Mrs T are so awesome for trying to come to my rescue. I love them!
I told Mrs. T she’s my hero and she said she was scared. She didn’t seem scared to me. She was right up there with Mr. T, trying to get it.

@pink what kind of a snake was it? I’d have freaked out in your shoes too, but personally I’d feel better if I knew it was a „harmless“ variety.

That was cute. I was watching BBC's Green Planet earlier today and there's a diver who tiger sharks love. They jostle each other to get on his lap, and to get petted. They love it. Green Planet is wondrful! The photography is phenomenal and the stories are really interesting.

I don't know if it's the heat or getting up a little earlier than normal, but I am BEAT. Took the car to this old guy who is more than willing to ignore any rules about catalytic converters. LOL He was a little creepy, but my stepdad who is a car guy vouches for him. He says he'll patch it up without charging an arm and a leg.

@pink what kind of a snake was it? I’d have freaked out in your shoes too, but personally I’d feel better if I knew it was a „harmless“ variety. I’m not sure. Mr. T said he thought it was a king snake and pulled a picture up of one on his phone. Mrs. T and I disagreed that it looked like the picture, that the markings on the one on the deck were more diamond shaped. She got a better look at it than I did though, since all that registered in my head was “SNAKE” before I took off running. She described the eyes and shape of its head and said she didn’t think it was venemous, but it still didn’t look like the picture Mr. T showed us. The ones Mister has seen before, have been king snakes, he thinks. But Mrs T and I were talking today about how people in the neighborhood have been saying they’ve seen water moccasins and I’ve seen on the NextDoor App, people talking about, I think copperheads. What happened today is exactly one of the reasons I hate them. Because they can sneak up on you without you hearing or seeing them. It was only about 3 feet from me when it knocked the broom over. It scares the crap out of me thinking that it could have gotten even closer if the broom falling hadn’t made me turn and look behind me.

My results were normal. Huge thanks to everyone who sent virtual hugs and positive thoughts my way. I know my fear level is irrational and I'm working on it year by year. Being able to lean on you folks is very helpful.

So, here's my son, upset and crying, and all I could say was 'Oh. He's dying AGAIN? I hope he has life insruance." I'm sorry, but I love this response! So I "liked" it. I don't mean to offend you/anyone. Well done!
