Ugh! I just heard Mandisa has died, and they're saying she was found in her home. I know she struggled with depression, and I'm hoping she didn't take her own life. Loved her inspirational music.

I have zero issues having 2FA. It offers some level of protection of my information. Received text that another cousin passed away earlier this week. Took his own life. It's so sad and breaks my heart. Looked it up and it's on the volunteer fire department Facebook page so it happened--in the middle of the fire department's spring BBQ. I'm so sorry. 🥀

And I just got a notice that our health clinic is going to 2-step authentication to access our online portal-what a major PITA. If someone wants to impersonate me and get cheap generic drugs, they are welcome. They would need my DOB to actually pick them up, and I don't think there's a big aftermarket for BP meds and crappy statins. But there is a big market for identify theft and if someone goes to the doctor and uses your insurance you could suddenly be billed for co-pays etc that aren't yours or even worse that persons information gets co-mingled with yours in an electronic health record. It could impact you getting your drugs because after all according to the records you shouldn't be taking those drugs because of the side effects when mixed with the drugs this other person was taking. Another persons information in your health record can have many impacts on your ability to get the correct and proper treatment. That is a very serious risk for those who have so-called "traditional" Medicare. We do not, so I think our risk is somewhat less. I am, however, very vigilant in monitoring our EOB's to make sure nothing hits our accounts that's not ours. Sadly, the bad guys have made life tougher for all of us. This new thing will make life much more challenging for me as I'm uncertain how well my husband can handle the 2-factor authentication with his hearing and vision loss.

Not here, I just paid $578 for a 2020 Buick Envision, my 2018 Chrysler 300 is $886, hubs 2020 Ford truck is $673 and I think that is really good. Our broker put us with Erie Insurance a few years ago. If we move one car will be sold, I sure won't need 2.
Maybe if we get further out from Olympia.
I just looked at a gorgeous house in McCleary, Wa, has a nice big garage for hubs and is one story like we want. I LOVE it, of course it will be gone before we can do anything. And it's on just half an acre, most of what we want. But it has mini splits for heating and cooling, doesn't look like enough to me. That town isn't that far away, it is doable and looks like nice homes out there.

Wow. It's 37 degrees and windy today. Feels like 28 degrees. Brrrrrrr. It’s 80 here. Memory serves me barely but aren’t you in PNW? I am in the PNW. Today was sunny with a high of 68. Slight breezes and a great canal boat ride. We had to rescue another boat due to the motor dying. So lots of decent scenery and nice conversation for almost 2 hours.

Chaperoning DD15 hs choir trip to NYC so they can sing at Carnegie on Tues. Somehow I got assigned 4 soph and 4 fresh girls. Freshies wanted to change 'fits at the airport from airplane clothes to going out for dinner at hard Rock. Yeah, no, our tour group of 60 ain't waiting on you. Got called a bitch and two of them managed to change near baggage claim, including new bras, somewhat discreetly I guess. Their mama's must be proud.
Then they ditched me in times Square. Choir director chased them down 3 blocks away via tracking app. Lord have mercy on me. One more strike and I'm off the hook and they follow her around.
Met other chaperones at airport checkin this morning. One woman proceeded to talk loudly about how tsa better not pull her vibrator from her luggage bc that would be embarrassed. Classy!

Wow, you have guts chaperoning teens anymore. We stopped having trips in the class before us because so many got pregnant, LOL! That was in the 60's so I can only imagine now as they have no respect for authority. It was bad enough back then. Good luck!
I found a dead bird in the garage. They sometimes get in there and can't get out. This is only the second regular size bird the cats have ever gotten, I hate to see that, I don't like them killing birds. But those 2 are predators, they kill mice, small snakes, and shrews. They have even gotten a mole before.

TD pays quite a bit more on his cars, but he’s insuring a 2007 STi that has been rebuilt for racing, and a 2016 Miata. It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s paying over $2000/year insuring those 2 cars. I’m with USAA, he’s with Amica. Separating out our cars like this produced the least, comparable insurance. Adding a third car to his, or his 2 cars, plus house and umbrella to mine wasn’t useful.

Good morning, insured invisipeeps, staying safe or not on the internet. Welcome to Saturday. I hope your day is free of troubles, that everything that matters goes smoothly, you have cause to lol and time to loll. Yesterday was a good day. I finally got the knobs on my 75yo kitchen cabinets. The two that had screws royally stuck were taken care of, too, after I bought WD40 and channel lock pliers. Also made a sour cream coffee cake, plus DH and I went out for a fabulous meal of shrimp and local scallops in medeira sause on the creamiest risotto. We share an entree now when we go out most of the time. DH's appetite is just not hearty. I finally at the end understood why I have 2 parts to the patio chair I've been putting together. It's a glider! Some things make much more sense now. Today is supposed to be rainy for a good part of the day, and cool, in the 40's. The weather matters so much when you walk every morning at dawn. Yesterday, like the day before, began with a quick fading in then out of pinks and reds in the clouds. By the time the sun was due to arrive, all was gray again and the sun, blanketed. THis is 15 minutes before sunrise:

What the heck is wrong with people? And why so lenient? I took two tours to Europe with our orchestra in college. We were told, one strike, and we were on a plane home. If my girls behaved like that, they would pretty much have no social life. We'd go back to, I can't trust out out of my sight, so you have to stay in my sight for natural consequences, except for showering and toileting. I only had to do that twice for the kids; once when the peanut was an infant and once about 5 years later. One day of that got the point across pretty quick. I hope you still can have an enjoyable trip.

My insurance went up way more than I expected for both homeowner's and auto.
My insurance in the Boulder area was much more than it is here. There's more traffice and it's prone to fire and hail storms.
The year I lived in the mountains, my auto insurance was much higher than it was when I moved back to Boulder.

The church took the youth group to some kind of Jamboree in New Orleans when I worked there. One boy was in the group, so they had both a male and female chaperone.
One of the teens decided to text back home that she was sleeping with the male chaperone. She had gotten in trouble with him for other things, so she got back at him. She refused to shower and both chaperones told me it was hot and humid. The roommates complained about the smell and both chaperones to her in to the female chaperone's room and made her shower.
She did get sent home and she deserved it.

CU has a semester at sea program where they travel around the world. Stops depend on what is going on in the world and what professors they recruit.
A professor I knew and his wife and kids went one semester. They warned the kids that if you use drugs, in many of these countries you will be arrested and there is nothing the program can do to get you out. Of course, they left kids in prison at every port. You would think they would have learned early on that using drugs in port was not a good idea.
Other kids were put on planes at the next port for rule breaking.
My sister was a chaperon when the high school band went to DC to be part of the inauguration parade for Clinton. They went by bus but the kids who misbehaved were put on a plane home. Several were put on planes. She said it was a one strike and you are gone situation.

Luckily the soph group I got is super chill. 8 girls is too much to watch. One of the sophs has been in NYC multiple times and the other 3 are level headed so I can give them some leniency. Director and I had stern chat with freshies. These girls snap chatted their way thru LaGuardia. One got up at 5 this morning to start getting ready for 8 am hotel departure. It is what it is. Makes my glad my own girls aren't like this.
Sitting in Carnegie rehearsal space with about 300 teens for 4 hour rehearsal. 10 mins in they already sound good enough to give me chills.
DD15 is overly appreciative of me being here so it's going to be fun sharing this experience with her even though we are both already people'd out. We see Chicago on Broadway tonight. She's already unsure if she wants to come back bc it's just overwhelming. She said we might just keep seeing shows in stl, indy, and maybe chicago.

Meanwhile dh and dd11 took the train to kc to spend the weekend at the Waterpark. He said she's having a blast and looks so happy in pics.
Bonus teen stayed with a friend's fam last night, but has asked to come home tonight so my mom will be tagging in.
Both these trips were planned months in advance. Dh offered to add bonus teen but she said no thanks. Thurs night she was even kinda sad that we were all leaving. He will be home sun afternoon so things will normalize for her again.

I have been battling a migraine for a week now. I beat it down with meds so I can function, but it stays in pre-migrainal stage and doesn't just go away. It's getting a little old... Anyhow, up on the docket for today. Pulling all the trim out of my basement bedrooms and computer room. The baseboard trim and the stuff going along the ledge and around the windows. Kind of sad how shitty everything is going to look...especially my guest room which is literally the ONLY nice room in my house (in that it's perfectly clean and no clutter). It's all going to stay that way for a long time too as I won't be able to afford to fix it.

Coffee and breakfast and EPL so far. I have an American Greetings account, and I've texted a bday card to Miss Grandbaby (via her parents). However, the sound is not working on it when they open it. This one is a talking cat, and by golly I want it to work!
We'll get up off the couch soon and do chores. Then we're heading to see DD#2 and her boyfriend. There's a food fair where they live, and the weather is great today.

Migrainus sustainus, that's called. Really. When I've had that problem my neurologist put me on 5 days of prednisone, and because that takes a day to kick in, 1 day of percocet. Was a tremendous relief. Call your doctor and see if they'll help.

The neurologist for DD has tried a lot of things. Botox didn't work, she is getting an IV infusion every 3 months and takes Nurtec daily, seems to be helping her more than other meds did for migraines, there is lots of things they can try now.
Hubs called and he said little guy was up till 2. I said you let him stay up that late? I'm betting he fell asleep and didn't realize it. He said he went in and made him go to bed. I told him don't do that tonight, he told me he bets he falls asleep pretty early tonight. Hubs said he has changed all the TV stuff around and on his iPad. I bet he has, LOL! He was getting ready to get him up and go see what son was doing today. I think if we are up there he and his dad will spend a lot of time together. DIL said son doesn't have many friends up there and none in the neighborhood where they live so will be good for both of them. I'm sure little guy will see grandpa every evening next week too, he really misses him and hubs doesn't get up there often. We need to do it before we are to old to do things with him.
So the 29th I am off to go up there too.
I am pretty much off coffee and I'm still tired from lack of caffeine. today plan to run over and see if the free store is open. I need to get rid of stuff so I can load up more. I haven't done anything this morning. Got dressed to go out and pull weeds, it looked so pretty out. Checked the temp and its 47, nope, not going to happen. So need to get busy in here. It's noon and all we have done is eat breakfast. I did pick up so the robot sweeper could run. All the plug cords it likes to get tangled in.
So will see if we go out to eat or not today, haven't decided yet.
Need to at least do something constructive.

I don't usually have problems. I've been on a daily med for about 10 years now and Imitrix almost always knocks it out within 2 hours (although it can leave me feeling sick and sometimes I have to re-dose for a couple days). Fighting one for a week is not typical for me at all.
I'm also really slow to go to the Imitrix and break the pills in half and never take a full dose. I'm paranoid I'll develop a tolerance so I only use it as a last resort.

Went to the Oddities expo and finally found a companion for Lady Squeakers. They are going to have tea together on my dresser. DH is not thrilled.

Our vehicle coverage went up $614 last year which was a 29% increase. We had been warned that many were seeing an increase of 50% or more, so we were happy. On the homeowner side, our premium went up $100 which was a wonderful surprise as forecast was for 30-50% there too. In fact, our agent says we had the smallest increase homeowner coverage among all their clients.
So many factors are driving the increases. Our agent said natural disasters, increased repair costs (a new tailgate on some pickups costs $10,000), high accident rates, and claims fraud are the biggest culprits.

I survived the plant swap, but standing and walking on concrete for 3 hours has my knee screaming. As always, it was fun because we saw old friends and neighbors, and lots of new ones too. The love of plants knows no limits so we had toddlers to a 93-year young avid gardener. The plants were varied and amazing, the compost talk was awesome, and we gave out great door prizes like $25 Home Depot gift cards. We had free oak, pecan, birch, and pine trees to give out too.
