- Canada geese are migratory and as such protected under the law - I have never heard anyone claim they are tasty - they shit all over the place and have made my condo complex a stopover on their flights north/sound - they are clumsy IMO and use my roof for landing and takeoff - they are LOUD both vocally and in their roof maneuvers And they are driving me nuts with their racket so now I am trying to figure out how to get rid of them without risking either fines or jail. Unsuccessfully I may add. They managed to get rid of them in a park nearby but that caused them to go to other places with water - in other words a bunch of them came here

I told a friend of mine that sometimes I buy ham or sausage for Sushi. "Oh, you shouldn't feed him that!! It's not good for him!" "He's an ancient cat, and 90 in human years. Why should I withhold the food he loves? When I'm 96, are you going to tell me to eat lentils instead of bacon, because it's better for my blood cholesterol? At that point, who cares?"

Balloons, scarecrows and flags should also work.

Our vehicle coverage went up $614 last year which was a 29% increase. We had been warned that many were seeing an increase of 50% or more, so we were happy. On the homeowner side, our premium went up $100 which was a wonderful surprise as forecast was for 30-50% there too. In fact, our agent says we had the smallest increase homeowner coverage among all their clients. So many factors are driving the increases. Our agent said natural disasters, increased repair costs (a new tailgate on some pickups costs $10,000), high accident rates, and claims fraud are the biggest culprits. We see the same in South Dakota. The main culprit for our zip code is hail. Big storm last year, now everyone is getting a new roof in addition to the vehicle damage.

Remember...PICTURES! 🤣 (Just saying it would be funny to see. It may very well work!)

Here in north Jersey many of the Canada geese are no longer migratory. They stay in the big corporate parks. DD was gifted some Canadian goose breast fillets by a hunter friend. She said they were like steak

I bought rhubarb. I know what i could make with it. I don't know what to do with it.
It is a predicament.
I'd make a crisp, but we are already starting the season of our lives in which we will be continually eating birthday cake for the next few weeks. So, i want to wait for a while.
I think I'll make bread..I can freeze it for later.
It seems strange to make food that only DH and I will eat though.
I can give some away, too.

She said they were like steak I am afraid that is what is happening here - they are having goslings.. Kind of cute but they imprint here IMO and that is not a good thing. The fact that they don't migrate lime they should also does not change their protected status. I can't put anything on the roof however IF I could maybe a barbeque would be an idea Just my luck that wood frame multi unit buildings are not allowed to use (fire powered) barbeques due to fire danger. What a tale of woe I am spinning here. Did I mention that, despite the geese, I truly love living here? If not, I am saying it right now: this is a very nice place to be.

I'm in a beautiful costal town, New London. There'sa Michael Jackson tribute show.
We're going for dinner first and then to see the show.
The town is gorgeous. I want to come back in summer and maybe stay for a weekend.
I'm so proud of myself. I had to take I95 to come here and I did it like a pro

DD decided she didn't want to go out tonight to eat, doesn't matter to me. We ate lunch while in town. The grocery had their cookout today, ribeye steak sandwiches, but DD wanted McD's, yuck. That was good. But she wants fish again tonight, she said those were so good. I looked for the stringy strips of onions but they didn't have those just regular onion rings. I did see some onion petals breaded but they were $10.49 for a small box, uhhh, no, that's crazy. I bought some breaded mushrooms from the hot foods section so may heat those with it. Also bought cukes we both said salad is good. I dress it with avocado oil, garlic salt, and rice vinegar, low cal and so good.
Likely won't fix it till about 6 or 7, we don't get hungry early.
Going to wash more stuff almost have 2 cabinets of fabric emptied, have 2 more and lots of other on shelving. The town is going to get inundated with fabric, LOL! I may try to sell some of it when I have a yard sale, will see. I'm going to sell 2 book cases, a shredder, maybe an exercycle, if hubs can get it upstairs, canning jars, odds and ends of all kinds of stuff. Some big canning kettles and items, Xmas decorations, stuff in the garage. I have a big cabinet in the 3rd bedroom I may try to sell. Would like to sell this big solid wood desk, I paid $1300 for it years ago. The top of the desk needs refinished, sure I could get more if I did from it. I may, it came from the furniture store in Houston about 20 years ago, likely be lucky to get $200 out of it. Really it and the couch needs to go to the furniture store to sell. There are also little cabinets, magazine racks and stuff. A lot more stuff I can't think of right now.

My Smokey is a fun cat. He has been running up and down the stairs to the basement when I go up and down. And when I'm pulling books he is flopped on the shelf above purring. I was sorting fabric in other cabinets and he was on an empty shelf above doing the same thing, talking to me and purring. He does the same with hubs when he is working on something. We both get a kick out of him. Tigger doesn't do that, but he is still friendly.
I can call Smoke and he 99.5% of the time like a dog will come running. Hubs was looking for him the other evening and had picked him up, I didn't know it and was calling him. Hubs said he was trying like crazy to get down, but he already had him so managed to get him in. I know I'm always saying he doesn't care for them but he gets them in feeds the, and empties litter boxes when I'm gone. Maybe just because I love them so much, but I don't think so, LOL!
His friend down the road that gave them to us bought him a Tshirt, that says, real men love cats. Yep, he wears it, LOL!
The internet repair guy is coming tomorrow afternoon, I finally had to call to get the buffering fixed, it's something outside. It's driving me crazy buffering like that.

countrygirl2 I can relate to the shock of moving from a LCOL to a HCOL. We moved from little tiny Victoria, TX to big old Houston in 1991. Yes, the salaries were a bit higher but the COL was a LOT higher - everything including housing, insurance, groceries, gasoline, clothing. So we went from owning a small house to renting an even smaller house while spending more on the basics. It was tough at first, but I fell back on my frugal aka impoverished background and remembered how to cook cheaply and shop resale. Eventually we were able to buy a small fixer-upper and here we are all those years later. It's actually been the best experience of our life, learning to embrace the world around us and being blessed with incredible neighbors. Best wishes for the journey you have ahead.

I have to find out if DD will qualify for medicaid. They look at family assets I guess. Our income is going way down because of sale of the rentals. 5% of $100k is nothing like the rent income we had from that investment, that is going to hurt. So we will be paying more for everything with less income. We do have money in savings but a lot of it is in 401k's and IRA's so what we see is not what we are going to end up with after taxes. They just ask for gross? it just says savings no distinction in what it is. I dropped figures in the questionaire and of course it said hubs nor I qualify for anything, we were not applying and the way the form was structured it was obvious only for DD. Also it asked who they lived with and none of the categories were parents?? Only adult-other,so I am wondering if she will qualify for health care. It says she would not qualify for cash help or food help, that's fine, we don't need that. It has a category for disabled I need to look at and see if it explains more. Even if she has to pay something for her health care, that's ok too, long as it doesn't eat up all her funds. She needs money for hair cuts, clothing, shoes, dental work, glasses, incontinent needs, those are not cheap, and anything else she needs, we charge her rent and then use the money for her needs. Have to, to keep her assets under $2k. I just ordered her a wheelchair/walker so she can go places with us where she has to walk. She has only been to the theater at Capital Mall because its all she can do to get there. She almost passed out at the ballet just waiting for DIL to park the car and come back. I want her to be able to go with us. We jump through hoop after hoop, each year here she has to be recertified for her medicaid coverage.
Hubs and my health care premiums are over $1000 a month now with scrips on top of that, we have to pay a lot out of pocket. now in Indiana DD had to start paying a premium for her meds insurance on medicaid, not much, but I expect it to get more each year. Yes, we have money, but its getting eaten up believe me. The cost of living is not going down, its going up. We likely should not have sold our rentals yet, but once he was diagnosed with cancer I think we both kind of panicked.
Well it is what it is, we know that we can get coverage up there for us, now I have to find out about DD, I will when I'm up there. If we can't, obviously we cannot move, we will just have to stay here and do what we can to take care of ourselves. And we can afford to live here. I have already cut expenses and once we sell his folks house, we can cut more. We will keep the place up there and hope we can keep traveling back and forth for the foreseeable future. But I'm continuing to declutter anyway, stuff needs cleared out no matter where we live.
I just cleared out the 3rd bedroom closet except for a big container of paper, pencils, and supplies.

In the story I was reading last night a woman is wondering about why a handsome guy takes such an interest in her. She tells her friend "and he has a cat. Aren't men who love cats serial killers?" Note that I know a fair share of cat loving men and, to the best of my knowledge, none of them are killers serial or otherwise.

She scares Abby too. Doesn't help when we got back from gym recital I said "OMG Oikerella isn't where I left her she must be loose in the house!"🤣 I have what is starting to look like a very dark demented Wonderland going on on one side of my dresser and I love it. The doll was a fantastic addition.

About ready to fix dinner, as I said before DD wants fish again, I'm happy, love good fish. Will add mac salad, and cole slaw with it instead of a salad.
I didn't count but got all my purses well, except 8 in one of the slightly smaller size totes, will put the 8 in with the shoes in a big tote. I can get purses out of there so no issue, wanted to make sure I could. I could likely fit in the rest on the ends and may later when we actually get ready to move. I checked all for ink pens, candy or anything that could melt and ruin them or leak. I'm guessing 30 or more, will count them one day. I found 3 that I had never used, whoops! I need to recheck and see if I want to get rid of any. But a year ago I purged a bunch and kept the leather ones. There are maybe 4 that are not, so these are the good ones. One of the big containers will hold all my shoes. They are see through so I can tell what is in them, though I may label them anyway.
I quit for today, I did good. I started washing throw rugs so I can clean the floors, may finish washing those tonight. If it had not been so cold I would have gotten my wringer washer out to use.
Will be back June the 11th. The renter is going to try and be out in July, I gave him his deposit back to help him this month. He is a decent guy. We don't mind helping people who are trying to help themselves. He has to pay for moving the mobile, so that is really going to cost him. I will sign it over to him before it is moved, we do not want any liability for that.

This is how having a child changes you.
DS 4 years ago before hi daughter was born. She will watch educational TV only, don’t want her hooked on commercial programs or Disney. Don’t want to lie to her about fantasies like Santa Claus.
This year. Overnight trip to Santa’s Norrh Pole Village. Posts pics of DD in full Frozen princess costume singing Frozen songs.

Countrygirl Your assets should not be considered for your DD Medicaid, only hers. Probably $2000 or less No reason to put your assets on a questionnaire. It will only cause questions and problems. You’re not applying for Medicaid Suggest you ask her rep in Indiana if family assets count, probably not cause she’s on Medicaid already there

Just sat down in Broadway theater to see Chicago. Had two cokes with dinner so should manage to stay awake. My feet are so tired from walking.
Picture trying to herd a group of 55 teens and 15 adults thru the subway. No Bueno! I 100% don't recommend.

The dog goes home tomorrow and I'm quite ready for him to go. I am 100% his person and he can't be away from me for a single second, so unless I crate him he's glued to my side and I'm tripping over him constantly...and he's a 70 pound dog. He's driving me batty.
Anyhow, got the trim off in all the rooms and all off the carpet pulled up and the rooms mostly cleaned out. I'm beat and might end up sleeping on the couch tonight because everything that was hanging in DS's closet is now piled on my bed and I don't feel like dealing with it tonight. I still don't have the window in and haven't worked on the duct tape mess again yet either, but I did actually find our Goo Gone. So minor win.

I've been lazy AF today. Between kind of a rough week at work and the outside of my house getting torn all to hell, I slept in today and just kind of lazed around. The sun came out a little bit ago, so I went out and did a little work in the yard. We're going to grill out in a little bit and it will probably be an early night for me.

Icy Hot did wonders for my knee and Pinot Grigio did too. Supper was late because landscaper was late, but the roses are planted. Tired, but in a really good way. Gotta mop floors tomorrow and prep the weekly menus. Old man author called again and we had a good conversation-he's coming Monday morning. It's still sort of weird to be in a mutually respectful relationship with him at this point in life but it's interesting too.

Well.
I used eyebrow stencils and had a meltdown. A big one.
I do think they actually look ok. And in a picture it will be fine. But it still looks fake. I'm not fooling anyone.
I think I've settled on what I need for formal picture taking in the workplace.
I wish I lived closer to Andi, because I'd just have her do my makeup for the day and be done with it.
My biggest conundrum is whether or not I should pony up for the expensive foundation or get a drugstore brand. I'll probably use it pretty religiously, so I feel like I could spend more.
I may be buying blush that is called orgasm. We'll see how much I decide to break the bank.
I should try to use lash serum. They aren't awful, after the chemo. Just not what they used to be.
It should all be over soon. I'll try and not b*tch about it too much. I really hate it. For so very many reasons.

I never wear makeup and because of that have zero skill with it either, so the few times I "needed" to, I just paid to have it done by a professional.

But not putting them when they ask, would that not be considered lying or trying to hide assets? I didn't understand that either. No Indiana has never asked us what we have in checking or savings.

Go for broke and draw the black rectangle old lady eyebrows above where they are supposed to go.
I had a customer with those back at the old resturant. Drawn on brows, shoe polish black bob and bright red lipstick.
Everytime.
And the brightest turtleneck sweaters you could see from space.
She was a great lady. I want to be her when I get old.
