On the bright side, written evidence for our past crimes has vanished

I decided to make poached eggs for breakfast. Now, at my age, I've successfully and uneventfully cracked several million eggs, but not today. I guess I don't really know my own strength because one tap and I had egg white everywhere except the little poaching cup. It's truly miraculous how far one egg's white can go, and I'm sure I'll find more throughout the next couple of days despite a thorough kitchen wipe down.

Fortunately, my luck improved and I washed all the windows and sliding door without event. Now I'm off to the shower.

I have a very up busy day today. My ear is feeling better and I need to do some laundry.  I have to put drops in my ear 7 times a day for the next week!  Yikes!

I know. But, it's really sad. I told DH that almost 10 years of our lives have been recorded in some fashion on that thread.  To have it be nearly gone is a little sobering.

I've gone from almost treading water to completely drowning at work. Some of it is my fault, though. I'm noodling on how to keep a project moving forward, and I think I have an answer that makes sense. It is amazing at how few SOPs we have for half of our business. We're never going to be agile because of it.

But, anyway, the noodling replaces the work that I should be doing.

It does feel weird. I was telling DH that the thread is about the little things that really make up life, as well as the big scary things and the milestones. Sometimes just having a safe place to say "I don't wanna adult today" is very healthy. Sure, sometimes we snarl and snap here, but overall, I think the chance to safely vent has probably preserved many other relationships including work and family.

I bought a little poacher for the microwave. You put water up to a line put in the 2 eggs, snap on the top. I like mine a little firmer so 1 minute 30 seconds, drain the water, perfect eggs.  I got ride of all the pans and cups involved in my stove top poacher. Really like this one.

I'm waiting for it to warm up a bit more, its 62 out. I need to go out and pull weeds around my landscaping so hubs won't spray poison around all of it and kill or damage some of my plants again.

Maybe I need to go out now, just to make sure.

I ordered hooks and eyes last night and some twill tape they are using around the waist for some of the newer patterns, couldn't find the tape at our local Walmart, I'm sure Joann's has it but that is in the city.

Checked the other day on patterns, none on sale right now, last week bought one Simplicity for $1.99.  I like Butterick, McCalls, and Vogue much better, they have more detail. Simplicity is truly a good name.

I have probably a couple hundred but don't mind picking up more off and on. I have my red shorts and red, white, and blue top done except for the hook and eye. I'm ready to start sewing my blue shorts and have patterns and fabric picked out for 3 tops. One is blue with white bicycles on it, the next is pink short material and pink, blue, yellow, and white top. The next is oranges, stretchy top with them on white background and orange short material, something different. I have a very pretty tan or taupe fabric for pants also and fabric in muted colors with tan background for a top, thinking of maybe slacks with it, will see when I get to it. I'm going to cut out all the tops and maybe the shorts too for them. Getting my assembly line going, LOL! When I get on a roll I can produce clothes.

Next project is canning the 35 pounds of tomatoes in the freezer and making seasoned sauce, almost out.  I have also found 2 sources of strawberries, my cousin told me about a pick your own, and another small truck garden lady told me about another. I also have 50 pounds of peaches and 2 big bags of pecans on order. The Peach Truck comes up here from Georgia, you get a chance to order from them, their fruit is awesome. Not cheap but excellent quality or has been so far.

I'm getting ready to any 2018 home canned goods, they are still good, but the quality deteriorates a bit over time. I don't have many. 

People talk about nothing to do in retirement, I can' keep up. I need to vac upstairs, and mop down.

Ok, well I was planning to go back to try and figure out what is going on at Pink's house with the car situation.  I missed something.  So I need Pink to summarize the story for me if she is up for rehashing the whole story.

I was awake early this am, just going to get out of bed to walk my Dogs, and DD called.  She said she was standing in her parking lot to go to work and her car was gone.  She lived downtown MKE near Fiserve Forum where the Bucks play.  Her boyfriend has an indoor spot, but they gave her a pass to park on the surface lot.  She pays $100.00 a month to park there.  They towed her car b/c they say the parking pass was not displayed.  DD said it was displayed, but the tag falls off her mirror. They do not open until 9 am, so DD got her boyfriend up, had him drive to our house so she could get our spare car, and went to work.  Then I waited for DH to get ready and went with him to drop the dogs off at my in-laws and headed over to the North Side to get my DD's car.  DH said she would not have been able to get it b/c her name is not on the title.  It cost DH $355 to get it back from the tow lot.  One of my Dogs has to sit on my lap if I am in the passenger seat, and DH was bitching at me over the car issue, and because DD's furniture is all over our house, so I had a stressful morning.

In addition my Brother called last night bitching b/c my Mother apparently wrote 2-3 bad checks to the Dentist.  Apparently my Brother and his wife go to the same dentist and they told my SIL about it.  My Mom told me earlier this week that she wrote the checks and they bounced.  I thought it was b/c the Bank changed and the routing number and the account number changed...But after I talked to my Brother I looked at the letter we got from the bank for our work accounts and it specifically says you can use up your existing checks.  So, I have to go see if what I thought was the case is really what happened.  Brother wants her to stop driving and he things she should move out of her house to some type of assisted living.  I really think she is fine to stay where she is, and I am not sure about her driving.  I have to try to call my sister and see what she thinks.

DD is moving out of her apartment as of tomorrow, she has been living with her boyfriend for a few months and to get the parking pass she had to be added to the lease - she has been on the lease there for a month or two already.  She hated the neighbors in her old apartment - working for the airline they often get up to go to work at 3:30 am so they go to be early.  The kids upstairs were very noisy late into the night, so she just stopped trying to sleep there a long time ago.

So, anyways a good amount of her possessions came to my house b/c her boyfriend kind of likes living downtown, and he will be up for promotion and moving on to another city within maybe 6 months so he extended his existing lease.  His apartment was already furnished, and is only a one bedroom. DD is trying to get a management position too, and she may land in an entirely different city than him.  She has a few things to move yet, but all the larger stuff is out.  She said she can do what is left herself.  I think a desk, the Keurig, and some miscellaneous stuff.

Right now she has a cube shelf and her chairs from her kitchen table in my entryway and that is part of what DH was bitching about.  I have places I want the pieces to go, but I can not accomplish it myself without DH helping, it remains to be seen if he will cooperate.  He can be very stubborn about things.

Going to call the car dealer for a report on my car today too.  They have had it for Two weeks today.

DD called to tell me that she talked to the Property Management Office about her car being towed.  They said in additon to her car being towed at least one other other tenant car was recently towed from the lot.  They initially offered to pay 1/2 the towing bill.  DD's response was, so you are telling me that not only was I inconvenienced this am, I also had to inconvenience my boyfriend to get up and drive me to my parents to borrow one of their cars, inconvenience my parents to go to the tow lot and retrieve the car, I was an hour and a half late for work, and since my employee parking pass is in my car, I had to pay $15.00 for parking and in return for all that you will only make me pay half the towing costs?  So, they guy said alright, bring me a receipt for the towing and we will re-imburse you.  DH said he was going to ask for a receipt on letterhead, hopefully he got it, b/c they wanted cash.

I am ready for a cocktail.  I have been all morning - and I am really not one to drink.

We were in the 48hundred region. I was keeping track a bit as I wanted to post on page 5000. 

It was really disconcerting to see the thread was only 2 pages this morning. Like most I have a morning ritual: after getting up and putting coffee on I head over here to see how everyone's day has started. Only after I pour my first cup of coffee will I look at how the rest of the world (you know everyone not part of our little virtual village) is doing.

We are finally making decisions.

We decided to pay the truck ins a month at a time as he is going to use it to put the big white rock in the front ditch. I did the weed eating when he was gone, it is very hard, he said there will be a day he can no longer do it. So, putting heavy duty weed block down and those rocks, the same highway departments use. Then he will only have to spray weed killer once or twice a year out there
He can sell the truck after he finishes that. It costs us almost a $1000 a year and we rarely use it.

The house that is coming up vacant, we are going to paint inside, put in new floor coverings and try to sell it for 2 months. We are going to ask $75k, it's a small house but is brick and has a brick garage connected by an enclosed breezeway, next to a church. A very cute little place with some huge trees in a small town. A couple of blocks from the school. If we cannot sell by lowering to $70k we can rent it for at least $550 a month. Expenses on it are minimal, about $1000 a year for insurance and property taxes.

I have all ins and property taxes paid for the year on personal. And property taxes on the other property. Also all the license plates renewed. In July, bill for rental property insurance, I even paid all my estimated state taxes for the year. I hate owing anything.

One reason to sell it, they are talking about closing that elementary school and will make it less desirable. The school isn't all that old, hate to see that happen.

I've taken day trips with DS and family from Des Moines to visit the Zoo (even though Des Moines has a pretty good one) but DH and I always left straight for home after the B-H meeting. One notable exception was when he dropped me off at the airport so I could head for a business trip to Bangalore and then drove home. Did you know there aren't any nonstops from Omaha to Bangalore?

I made it to the hotel, it's *really* nice. I can't wait to see what the function rooms look like tonight. my room is pretty big, the bathroom is HUGE! I'm annoyed I couldn't park my own car, though. another city hotel's valet burned out a clutch on me, I'm really picky about who I allow to drive my car. oh well. 

now to see about lunch while I wait on my vendor to provide the document I've been asking for, for over a week. this food hall is a couple blocks over, I might head that way. if I don't find something I like, I can always grab an overpriced salad from the hotel bar. lol....

Don't know what page we were on, but I am sad about it also. Almost feels like the passing of an old and dear friend. So many memories that cannot be revisited again.

this cafe is on the same block as my hotel, so I just grabbed a panini and came back to the room. chicken and fresh mozzarella, pressed. except I got provolone b/c they were out of mozz. it's still tasty! I just wish I'd grabbed napkins on my way out. oops...

Stayed at Marriott residence inn in Boston before Easter also on points. Finally after more than 2 years using some of the many points I have
