My annuity statement for January 1 has federal withholding. I don't know how it was calculated but it's different than this year's number.
The only Medicare Part B statement I am missing is December. I get everything online.

I spent a lot of money buying Christmas cards today. That is because everywhere I went had no cards but lots of other stuff I wanted (and bought). I did end up finding 1 box at Walgreen's and 2 at CVS.
I tried really hard not to buy decorations since I gave away 6 totes worth when I moved here last summer. But I started collecting these holiday birds from Michael's a couple of years ago. They are about 6" tall. Walmart had one today that was about 18" tall that I had to have.''
At least it isn't an old pickup hauling a Christmas tree. That is going to date the 2020s one day. And, yes, I have my share including an ornament of a tree in a wheelbarrow.

I've pretty much confirmed it is my cube mate who is smearing me to my manager. Apparently she tells other people "All DQ does is play on Facebook all day" which my co-workers ignore because they know I don't and people should be entitled to take a break but my manager laps it up. I am tempted to tit for tat but it would not be worth it to stoop to her level. A proper manager would be investigating her claims and personally if I was her manager would be telling her if she's got enough time to spread gossip and literally monitor her coworkers down to the minute we need to find HER more work to do and if she doesn't knock it off as of yesterday we're visiting HR. Which is why I would never make it as a corporate manager. It doesn't really solve anything to know BUT it keeps me from getting paranoid and turning against my other coworkers. And it helps with if I need documentation because there isn't any real proof I am failing at my job besides their bitching. My SIL said I have the right to have HR present if she makes claims like that again. That gives me the opportunity to challenge her with HR present. Our software tracks everything I enter in so I can show exactly how many submissions I've done each month. I already went through all the paperwork she claims I "ignored" and can show it wasn't my paperwork. She also suggested I seriously consider opening a complaint. I can tell HR I don't actually want to do anything at the moment but I want documentation in place that a coworker is slandering me and my manager is eating up using that to possibly sabotage my efforts to move elsewhere into another job. Then when/if the poop hits the fan I go there first. I have been warned that the coworker has done this to other people and seems to enjoy it. How miserale of a person are you that this is what you get enjoyment out of?! It is exhausting that two people can cause that much drama and misery and that one can influence my career. BUT I am doing what my therapist said and controlling what I can control in the situation.

I have not had to visit the DMV for license issues since I got married 14 years ago and it was a huge hassle considering that the state I was moving from and the state I was moving to had a combined database at the time. I went back 3 times because they proof they needed was a utility bill in my name. DH ended up putting my name on the phone bill (landline at the time) and even that was a hassle. DMVs are a different beast. Amen. I renewed my license before my 11/25 birthday and I still don't have it in the mail. I just have the paper one. I need to call them tomorrow and I don't want to.

Doubtful. Honestly, they are probably both too old to even be considered for adoption and I don’t know if they want to. I always thought doing emergency fosters over a weekend would be a way to give back to the community and have some time with kids. One of my bosses did this, I remember him rushing home one time as he and his wife would need to take care of an infant over the weekend. If I had a house still, I’d take in older children and raise them but not babies or young children. I don’t think DS would do it and I’m unsure about her. I’m concerned about how DIL will feel if she doesn’t have a baby.

Saw a charge for $89+ from Apple on DH's VISA and for a minute thought it was fraud. Nope, just renewal of his My Fitness Pal subscription, whew!
Tub drain is real slow so have to call plumber tomorrow and schedule a clean-out. I have palpitations and queasy stomach in case they find the main sewer line is compromised. I told DH I'm about ready to have the damn thing replaced instead of waiting for the other shoe to drop someday. He's all about being a male, an engineer, and an asshole and I am about done with all that. I do not give one of the flying F----'s what it costs - I'm the one who will have to deal with an elderly 2-year old whiner while living in a hotel and then come back to a major cleaning job, plus restoration of the yard, sprinkler, and lighting systems. "But I don't want to spend the $$ on that" - yeah, you want to bathe in the sink and s--t in a bucket? "Well, maybe it's time to move to an apartment." And good luck on selling the house with a failed line. Lord, I look back with fondness on the days when he had a brain cell, could hear, his winky worked, and he occasionally acted like an adult. Good ole days for sure!

MFP is still a thing? wow! I didn't realize that.
I'm currently up to my eyeballs in stacks of paperwork to shred. I'm putting serious consideration into bringing it all to UPS for 79c/lb for bulk shredding. my poor shredder probably wouldn't survive this. I decided I didn't need 3y worth of work wet signatures that got scanned into batch records. I kept 2023, but the work stack is easily over 1' tall. oy.
but, I've made amazing progress in filing away vet bills, tax records and car service docs. and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to declare this room cleaned and ready for 2024 after this afternoon.

I dunno. Maybe they're getting stricter? I'm just following their document and I know they were sticklers when I got mine.
eta: Also, part of our problem is he was using so many different address the last couple years so nothing matches. We pulled up his pay stub from when he was working his internship last summer and he has his apartment address that he's not even at anymore. It wouldn't let him change it anymore either, so I made sure he switched everything to paperless, so his W2 didn't end up getting mailed to his old apartment. Your tax form showing him as a dependent? Will that work? ETA: how long was his license expired? I know they said not expired, but if it expired recently, maybe they’ll let it slip? His license was a no-go. It expired 6 months ago. I think his tax return should have worked, but I was worried because we do them ourselves and they're not signed or dated or anything. Just the Turbo Tax print out of a filled in 1040, which anyone could have done right before. A transcript of his taxes from the IRS would have had everything he needed though, but he got it taken care of with a brokerage statement and a paystub. Luckily he brought extra stuff because they rejected his university paystub due to the pay date not being until tomorrow. He also had one from the temp agency from when he worked with them back in January.
After all that, he only got the Real ID and not the enhanced license and I think the only difference is having to pay the $15 fee. Oh well. He still has a passport for border crossings, but it would have been nice had he had the card too.

alright, I've gotten the office set every which way except vaccuming....I'll do that tomorrow. both pups are terrified of the vac, and it's pitch dark out. I'll throw them both outside in the morning and crank out the vac in here then. and then, I'll move on to my bedroom....hopefully making enough progress to also vac that tomorrow.

It's cold and snowy. I'm debating going to Chipotle. T2 is out of town this week, so I don’t want to cook. I could door daah, but I have trust issues with strangers transporting my food lately. I've seen some interesting things on the internet. I really don't want to go outside.

I'm going to take it to my uncle's house to burn.

BUT I am doing what my therapist said and controlling what I can control in the situation. I'm sorry, Drama. It sounds like your cube mate is a piece of work. Is there any way you can get a different cube mate? She has to be a miserable person. All you can control is your work when you have a co-worker who is trying to get you out of there.

I'm finishing my homemade moonshine. It is SO good! I'd like another jar! (Just sayin') 😁 I got little sample jars at the liquor store and my niece and I tried them. It wasn't that bad. I though it was going to be really harsh, but it wasn’t. I may get full size jars of some of them. I expected much harsher too. That's why I liked it, I could feel/taste it, without the harshness. And I got a whole jar! ❤ I didn't know you could buy it pre-made. I think I need to try that! Was there more than one brand?

I've been going round and round with UPS since December 23 when they delivered a package to me that is not mine. It's not even in the correct town. I called probably 5 minutes after the driver left. I was on hold almost an hour and then got told nothing would happen until today but thank you for your honesty. Now I have had two calls from UPS in the last hour. They are finally to my call. The first call was to see if I still have it and would I put it on the porch. Yes and that's where it's been all this time. Second call was to tell me no one can get here until tomorrow so would I put it on the porch in the morning. Told him it says it needs to be refrigerated. It's been on the porch since then because it's cooler out there than it is in the house. Okay. They will get it tomorrow. I feel really bad for the recipient. I did think about putting it in the trash this morning, but I didn't because it isn't my package.

I'm a minimalist with paperwork. About the only things I keep are receipts from work on the cars and tax stuff. I have back all the way to like 94 with taxes, but the past 15 years or so it's mostly digital anyhow so 30 years of taxes only fills one banker box. Pretty much everything else gets tossed quickly. I have paperless delivery for everything and get almost zero mail. I tell my neighbors not to even bother checking it when I'm on vacation. Just let the few pieces of junk mail collect until I get home.

We got the SS statements and DH's insurance card in today's mail so that's a couple of things I won't have to deal with going forward. Still cautiously optimistic I/we can get needed groceries for New Year's weekend even with a diversion for me to wait on the plumber. I think my mani/pedi appointment on Thursday will be toast

Was there more than one brand? Good 'shine is amazing and the store-bought stuff is very nice too. I was also surprised at the smoothness the first time a friend gifted me with home brew. I'm amazed at the artistry of home distilling from mead to 'shine and some of my neighbors have very impressive distilleries, a long, long way from the image of backwoods hillbillies. It's not an inexpensive hobby either.

Have beef empanadas baking in the oven. Made the dough from scratch, puff pastry. This was an all afternoon endeavor. They taste great but too much work and clean up involved. These are a once in a blue moon thing and I need to be in the right frame of mind to make. I caught myself being short with others in my house who like to eat but who don’t help with any of the clean up. And there is that one annoying person who brings their dirty plate and cup to the sink while I am cleaning.

Probably due in part to all those years spent working in software development, I'm miserable with hard copy. I have none of the right instincts for it. I don't organize it or file it, and am always at a loss when trying to find some bit of paper that is not in the vital records file. Now that one, I use. It contains passports and marriage license and deeds, stuff like that. Everything else lives happily on my hard drive.

Christmas, my most difficult holiday, is over and I survived another year. I always have sadness on December 26 as my 11 month old niece died of spinal meningitis. Such sadness. I see a Christmas card is being returned for the wrong address. I checked and I had the incorrect address in my spreadsheet. A new card will go out today. DN3 sent me a text last night that all financing is in place and they close on their new home a week from Friday. Should be able to get it in working order before baby girl is due to arrive on March 31. I am so glad his stepson will have his own room that isn't up a steep stairs about 2 feet wide. That's because the house was built in 1860. Hugs ♡ My nephew died on Christmas day, about 5 years ago. He was my favorite. He used to sneak over, to come hang out with me (adult), because his dad has been holding a grudge against me, ever since my nephew was born. My sister is not allowed to see, or speak to me, since he got mad at me. Such a jerk. But if she really wanted to, she would. Or at least, that's what I believe. People make time, for those they want. A matter of priority. That's her choice. (She lives approximately 2 miles from me.) It happened because I stood up for her, to him, on Christmas. He was embarrassed.

So much easier to search for something with the search bar of my computer than digging through totes of unorganized papers, and with cloud storage backup I can access whatever I need whether I'm at home or work.
I totally get how it would make things harder on people if I was dead or incapacitated though, so really need to get working on updating my "If I die" binder.

I had just let it pile up a bit too long this time.

Once or twice a year, a company in my city, has a free shredding event. All you have to do, is drop it off (drive thu/parking lot). I dropped mine off once. It made me a little nervous. But it would make me nervous to take it anywhere. Only because it has personal stuff written in it. But they wouldn't know who I am, or anyone else. And it's not that personal, really. Plus they were old. I have a bunch of notebooks I've written in. I need to drop them off this summer, so I have space to put things again. I'd rather have someone at the drop off place read something, then my one of my daughters, after something happened to me, or because they had to move me. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, or be embarrassed by a comment I made/wrote down.

It's cold and snowy. I'm debating going to Chipotle. T2 is out of town this week, so I don’t want to cook. I could door daah, but I have trust issues with strangers transporting my food lately. I've seen some interesting things on the internet. I really don't want to go outside. In case anyone was wondering, I made homemade hamburger helper. Not much to cook, but still dinner. I cut up a salad so I can be healthy too.

I got little sample jars at the liquor store and my niece and I tried them. I don't knkw how many brands there are out there, but I see Ole Smoky brand at the liquor store. It's what I bought. They have a ton of different flavors too.

That would annoy me too! I rarely leave any dirty dishes in the sink. My biggest fault is leaving junk/mail, or clean clothes on the side of my bed I don't sleep on. I do clean it up periodically, so I can change my sheets. LOL
