I love it Chloe!
And, DH and I chatted briefly, and we agreed that we'll take her to see an ENT when things settle down a little bit.
I would like to wait until the current covid/RSV/whatever else spike goes down. I don't even know how long it will take to get an appointment.

We’re those neighbors. You're my favorite kind of neighbor! I love Christmas yard decorations. The bigger more elaborate the better. Just call me Clark Griswold.

I'm going to need to run out and get some egg nog and OJ. The OJ is for cooking. Trying to gauge a "reasonable" hour to go, when the hell that is other people doesn't completely overtake the store. Maybe I'll just go to Cumby's. Yeah, that's a better idea.

How is Simon doing, weltz ? Hope things are better for him and his family. He's hanging in there, thanks. Melody is looking into grief councelling on the West Island. He was trying to cope with the death of his friend, then BAM! Another friend of his dies.

giramomma , DS had a lot of ear infections as a toddler. He needed speech therapy starting in kindergarten and the therapist commented that he would benefit from seeing an ENT doc. His tonsils, which were huge, were blocking his airway when he spoke certain sounds. They came out and he never had another ear infection, nor did he need speech therapy for much longer. Just another vote for taking Missy to see an ENT. DN2 also had tons of ear infections. Enough that he needed speech therapy. He had also taught his younger brother to speak his language. Only the two of them knew what they were talking about. So DN3 ended up in speech therapy but not the ear infections. They both got so frustrated because no one else could understand them. I believe the tonsils for DN2 did come out as my sister was still upset with out mom, who didn't believe in removing tonsils. Sister suffered a lot for that. They didn't come out until she was a teenager and the doctor finally got through to mom. The great nephew here that I babysat for also got ear infections. He did the tubes. He screamed so much that the parents refused to get the tubes for their daughter. Neither of them were bad enough to need speech therapy.

It is pouring rain so nothing going on outside. Fortunately, I mowed the whole yard this week and we really do need the rain. It is cold out there (for us) and dark and I have some hot tea here. I actually look forward to the grey and chilly days because tea tastes so special then - it's truly warming. Like you, we in Texas don't normally get truly cold, but tend to shiver at anything under 60. Same here. I a such a wimp. I turn my car heater on when I am driving to or from swim practice and it's below 60.

He didn't even care if he met them or not. That's when I knew he was feeling very bad.

What's worse is we have to go Sunday to get the fresh food for Monday's dinner. Fortunately, DH is a morning person and will get there as they're opening.

DD#2 comes home today. (Although, she has never lived in this house, so is it "coming home" or is it "visiting"? She's only 21. Only Miss Grandbaby has her own official room in this house. None of our children do.)
Anyhoo, chores to today which includes the wrapping of presents. We held way back on present-purchasing this year. I was feeling pretty good about it until yesterday when I started feeling guilty about it. Trying to make it to Monday without buying a bunch of stuff that our children don't need, don't want, and if they did could buy themselves.
I've been a bad pet owner and let Bill the Dog's left eye get too gunky. I've been doing a twice-daily warm compresses and bought an eye solution I keep squirting in there. He actually accepts the squirting far better than the compress. I think a duct is clogged, but it is looking better.

We moved away from our kids childhood home in GA to AL when our youngest was in 3rd year of college, and he was always grumpy about not having “ his room”. But he survived. None of my kids ever see a need to go back to the small city they grew up in.

I am miserable. Head ache, sore throat, coughing, now nose running, not in my lungs but I get choked if I lay down. So still in the recliner and worn out. I made an appt with Indigo or rather on their wait list, she said 3 hours and they will text me and I have 15 minutes to get there. I can get there in about that time, it isn't far from here. If I don't get better this time I'm finding an ER to go to. I was on day 7 of the amoxicillin and its done nothing. I am so damn aggravated this is not a time to be sick.
And no I haven't had a covid test but they likely will this time.
Going to try and sleep a bit more. I used my inhaler to see if that will help.

I got a very hot batch of serranos today, waaay hotter than I’m comfortable with. The sauce got a glut of cream tonight. I threw the whole peppers in without taking out the seeds and ribs. Always hard to guess what you will get with peppers. I usually leave half intact and remove the seeds on the other half. It really is a crap shoot as to how hot the peppers are. Normally, I have TD do a taste test and he gives me an idea of how hot they are. I should have used all 4, but without the seeds and ribs. It really is amazing how a glug of cream will mute it some.

Sorry to read CG2, but the holidays generally are a time that people do become sick. Someone made the good point that even without the flu and Covid, we generally eat different things during the holidays which might mess with our immune system and health.

DD1 doesn't like pecans, which I didn't know.
I'm now making a second batch of pretzel chocolate things with kisses and M&Ms.
Like the molasses cookies, I am not making a third batch before christmas.

DD1 and I will do the pretzel chocolate with kisses and M&Ms too. We had planned to do it today but I woke up feeling like crud. I feel a tiny better but I want to nap. Also, DH took over the kitchen island that we planned to use for a project he’s working on next to the kitchen. I’m off the take a nap instead.

well, Walmart was beyond insane, so I turned around and walked out. I hit the grocery store instead, and overpaid for what I needed for the pups. but I also grabbed a sushi roll for myself b/c I apparently haven't eaten enough today and realized I was dizzy again. I was able to hit the UPS store to drop my SHEIN return and hit up the packy next door for a bottle of prosecco. we are now in for the day, and I'm going to get back to cleaning/purging.

Might have to get prescription tomorrow. Bus has been delayed per app for over 30 minutes. I think the extended route into Hillside still has flooding so they are just letting busses get stuck or in long-term traffic? I wish they would split some of the route up. Hope early morning will work. Walk back from the pharmacy would be mostly uphill. Maybe the universe does not want me to get my prescription or any water. I did not order any cases of water but just a couple bottles to tide me over. Which of course were out of stock. Sigh. And rain is predicted for when work starts up again on Tuesday, because apparently the area needs more flooding.

I’m hiding out in my home office while DH finishes his wrapping. In the last hour I’ve gone thru my closet and packed a bag to be donated, wrapped my last gift, and am now checking in here. If I get a chance I’m going to take a quick walk soon before the rain comes. Given the humidity of the last few days, I almost welcome the downpour they are calling for.

After breakfast I mopped the floors and showered. DH vacuumed and changed the sheets and ran that load. I've changed the towels and have that load going now. We went to the grocery store which was surprisingly quiet and picked up a few desserts to share tomorrow night and Christmas Day - a miniature apple pie and a very large piece of tres leches cake.
I'm clearing out the freezer so tonight will be a Thai chicken curry with the last chicken tenders plus the frozen pumpkin puree and coconut milk. I think breakfast might be egg drop soup and the last of the steam buns.

Waiting for a blueberry banana lemon crumb cake to finish baking. That's for breakfast for the next two days. I did add extra blueberries and the banana to make it healthier. Will be picking up a seafood order tomorrow morning, very early and then hitting the green market.

But I am somewhat confused by what you describe. It sounds tome like you picked up a virus somewhere, cold, flu, Covid, whatever - but a virus nonetheless. My "medical training" is strictly limited to a couple of first aid courses I took way back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. However, I seem to remember that antibiotics do nothing for a virus So unless there is some bacterial infection I would expect amoxicillin to do nothing? Surely they must have an idea what is going on? Why else would they have prescribed an antibiotic? I hope you get a better answer today. Get well soon

I got sucked into some murder shows on HLN while I was snacking on sushi, and haven't gotten to more cleaning/purging yet. I think today's all set for that, I'll make the beds with clean sheets and pick back up tomorrow. I've got til 1/2.

Motherf$&&er - I tested positive for Covid. I had a fever (99s to 100.2), felt blah, and had chills periodically today. I took a nap but thought I should take a test to be responsible. Damn test came back positive.
No one else has symptoms. On Thursday, DD1 was tired for part of the afternoon (after school ended) but bounced back by bedtime. She’s been her normal self ever since along with DD2 and DH.
Hopefully I’m the only one that gets it. It has happened before. 🤷♀️🤷♀️
If it’s like how I felt before, I feel like blah today and be back to normal self tomorrow.
My parents were to come for Christmas. When we got Covid on Christmas Day last year, we let my parents know then too. My mom didn’t come but my dad did (my parents are divorced). I’ve already let my mom know. She’s playing it by ear on if she’ll come over. I’ve left a message for my dad. Most likely, he’ll come over.
I hope this doesn’t change our New Year’s Eve plans. We were supposed to go to a friend’s house. We had the same plans last year and had to cancel because of Covid. 🤞🤞🤞 I’m the only one that gets it and we can still keep our plans.

Since you say you only get sick when staying at your Washington home, have you considered an environmental concern like mold? As I recall, the modular is quite old, sat empty for some time before you bought it, and I don't recall you saying it was professionally inspected before purchase. If you had a bacterial or viral infection, it seems likely your daughter would catch it because you have very close daily contact with her (brushing teeth, washing hair etc) and you haven't mentioned her being ill. An antibiotic like amoxicillin only treats bacterial infections so perhaps that's why you aren't improving while taking it. Maybe getting a mold inspection or allergy tests (aren't there lots of fir trees in WA?) could help long term. Hope you feel better soon so you can enjoy the holidays with your family

Bummer about the Covid, Taz. I hope it is just the blahs for a day.
I have risen from a 1.5 hour nap.
We are going to go out for a bit to look at holiday lights. I'll have to make one more batch of bars tonight.
