I am miserable. Head ache, sore throat, coughing, now nose running, not in my lungs but I get choked if I lay down. So still in the recliner and worn out. I made an appt with Indigo or rather on their wait list, she said 3 hours and they will text me and I have 15 minutes to get there. I can get there in about that time, it isn't far from here. If I don't get better this time I'm finding an ER to go to. I was on day 7 of the amoxicillin and its done nothing. I am so damn aggravated this is not a time to be sick. And no I haven't had a covid test but they likely will this time. Going to try and sleep a bit more. I used my inhaler to see if that will help. Since you say you only get sick when staying at your Washington home, have you considered an environmental concern like mold? As I recall, the modular is quite old, sat empty for some time before you bought it, and I don't recall you saying it was professionally inspected before purchase. If you had a bacterial or viral infection, it seems likely your daughter would catch it because you have very close daily contact with her (brushing teeth, washing hair etc) and you haven't mentioned her being ill. An antibiotic like amoxicillin only treats bacterial infections so perhaps that's why you aren't improving while taking it. Maybe getting a mold inspection or allergy tests (aren't there lots of fir trees in WA?) could help long term. Hope you feel better soon so you can enjoy the holidays with your family It is much more likely her grandson is the culprit. Children of this age are vectors for disease. I’d lay odds on this before mold.

And visits to WA are also her max exposure to her grandson during the school year when his exposure to classmates is the greatest. I guess there's not much a person can do about that other than try to bolster their own immune system.

I’d lay odds on this before mold. A trip to Toronto to see a day care kid and I got hand, foot and mouth disease. Never considered I would catch it. In fact, all 4 adults who were in the apartment during that time caught it and we were washing our hands and hand sanitizing constantly. His parents now wear masks when he brings home stuff from day care. He hasn't brought as much stuff home this fall so they haven't had him sick one week and them the next and starting over with him the next week.

well, Walmart was beyond insane, so I turned around and walked out. I hit the grocery store instead, and overpaid for what I needed for the pups. but I also grabbed a sushi roll for myself b/c I apparently haven't eaten enough today and realized I was dizzy again. I was able to hit the UPS store to drop my SHEIN return and hit up the packy next door for a bottle of prosecco. we are now in for the day, and I'm going to get back to cleaning/purging. I went to Walmart yesterday and today. I ordered curbside. I don't go inside as is, I'm definitely not doing it this time of year.

I got sucked into some murder shows on HLN while I was snacking on sushi, and haven't gotten to more cleaning/purging yet. I think today's all set for that, I'll make the beds with clean sheets and pick back up tomorrow. I've got til 1/2. Who the Bleep Did I Marry by chance.

Got the kid home and am waiting for my potatoes to bake for awhile before starting the pork chops. I have absolutely nothing left to do for Christmas prep except buy one Roblox gift card and that I don't have to get done until next Saturday. Hoping I can get the kids to play some games tonight.

They gave up on wrapping my big gift.🤣
I got an InstaPot!
So excited. I can get rid of several other gadgets that have been gifted to me over the years.
I could make yogurt in this thing. Probably not going to but I COULD.
I want to try the steam feature.

I absolutely love mine for bean soups, collard greens, making the base for my chili, beef tongue, goat curry and other things a lot of folks don't eat. In other words, the tough stuff that would otherwise take 2-3 hours on the stove. I have friends who ADORE the yogurt making ability.

countrygirl2, definitely get tested for Covid. And taz157, it's almost unbelievable that you have Covid at your house two times in a row at Christmas. Since we lost my FIL to Covid, I'd tell your Dad to stay away, & you'll get together once everyone is healthy.

He’s lung capacity is at 40% due to COPD diagnosed this year so he may not come.

Well, I christened my new countertops. I made a cake and accidentally missed the button when I was trying to eject the button. "Clean up on Aisle 1, and 2, and 3 . . . "
And my neighbor from across the street came to see them. I was sort of down that no one will have seen those or my decorations this year. It is my first year here so it was sort of special. But between the countertop guys and the plumbers, it just didn't work out for my family or friends to come over.
Add to that the fact that my daughter-in-law's mother's dementia is going downhill very quickly. I don't know if it is Alzheimer's or not. Anyway, her mother got lost in her own house! They were trying to wait until the second one joined the military after graduation to move her in, but now they aren't sure that they can. They have four kids, but they will make it work.
I also found out that the oldest dropped out of college. His father is still upset about it, mostly because he didn't tell them until he absolutely had to. I told his dad to cut grandson some slack. He didn't want to go to college in the first place even though his grades and ACT scores got him scholarships, which he promptly lost. He's working full-time and planning on going to trade school in the fall. It is disappointing--he is a fourth-generation college student so it has always been "when you go to college" and not "if." But it has to be his decision.
His brother, the one who is graduating this spring, also doesn't want to go to college. This is a kid who made a 4 on the AP European history exam as a ninth grader and scored a 34 in reading on the ACT even though he doesn't really enjoy reading. In other words, these are smart kids. Well, sometimes. The military is a terrible choice for him because he is on the autism spectrum with a smart mouth. But, again, it has to be his decision.
I hope he at least lives through boot camp.

It is much more likely her grandson is the culprit. Children of this age are vectors for disease. I’d lay odds on this before mold. I thought I was healthy and then I had children. JFC. If the zombie apocalypse ever happens it will start in either a school or daycare. Gwen brings strep home every single year. That's always fun. My coworkers who had elementary school aged kids were probably out 5 days for every one day I was out. Occasionally, I got the disease and pestilence third hand, through one of the parents at work. When one mentioned a sick kid, it was pretty much a guarantee that my coworker would be out a few days later. I got pretty good at exiting stage right the minute someone mentioned a sick kid. I read a really interesting book about the modeling of disease pandemics around schools. It was a very interesting read, and I think parts of it was used during Covid. It was my light beach reading on one of TD’s dive trips.

We just got back from our border run. TD wanted to get tart shells so he could make butter tarts. He tried the other night to put pastry into a muffin tin and wound up eating the tarts with a spoon out of the muffin tin, the pastry was glued to the tin.
We also brought some bulk candy you can only get up there, along with corn syrup (to make more butter tarts). When they asked us what we were bringing back, he just said sugar in all forms. Border guard just laughed.

Work tells us just to wear a mask those days if we're feeling better as covid doesn't get any special treatment for sick days anymore.

I didn’t start being terrorized by kiddie germs until my nephew came to live with me when my children were around 11 and 13yo. One New Year’s Eve, nephew got sick and witching 24 hours everybody in my house was sick. Even though it was probably unrelated, I will always remember that 1 of my dogs even threw up on New Year’s Day that year. FF some years, DD gave birth to DGS, and even though he was current on all his vaccinations, within a week of him starting daycare, he got sick. So sick that we ended up taking him to the ER and they admitted him. Tests said he had RSV and nurses asked DD if anybody else in the home was sick. Guess who the ONE person that was sick besides DGS was…. me. After that, I have always tried to stay away from my Grandbabies when they are sick, even when they were living with me. I loved on them from a distance lol. Let me tell it, kiddie germs have superpowers when it comes to adults.

He was down for about a week, she spent 6 weeks in ICU. The year I went to MN to sit my niece (2 years) and nephew (4) while m6 sister and her DH went to Mexico. My nephew caught a cold and gave it to me. There is nothing like standing in front of a fully stocked medicine cabinet full of kid meds at 2 am, trying to figure how how much of a bottle of a decongestant do I need to drink for an adult dose. That cold was the worst one I remember ever having.

2 of my coworkers died this week. One, I remember fondly even though he took a job at a sister facility some years ago. The other one, B, his death hit a lot harder because we still worked the same shift, in the same building, and talked a lot. He is the coworker I may have mentioned last year, when his Dad and his daughter both died within a week. His Mom also died last year.
He had been talking about retiring for 2 or 3 years, and had finally made his mind up to go on and do it. His last day of employment was supposed to be next week, 12/31.
One of his family members found him dead in his garage. Apparently he had a heart attack. He was a good guy, and it really hurt to learn that he died.
Him and the other coworker dying this week made me think about how my coworkers don’t seem to live long lives, something I’d never really thought about before even with all the deaths over the years. Today, I tried to think of any that lived even into their 70’s. From what I can remember over the years, the ones that worked long enough to even retire, if they retired in their 60’s, they didn’t make it to their 70’s.
That has put even more shit on my mind, about how life can be so much shorter than we think it will be. Hell, Mister’s parents didn’t even make it to their 70’s. But why do so many of my coworkers die before they are even 70yo? There have been so many, more than I talk about here. A couple weeks ago, a supervisor was found slumped over a desk at work, and rushed to a hospital. Last I heard a few days ago, she was still unconscious and her family said it would be a miracle if she came back. She is in her 60’s
I apologize for talking about this shit so close to Christmas, but I really am very sad about my coworkers dying, especially B, and genuinely upset about all this death shit.

I go there largely for protein and produce for the pups. I have a very hard time having someone else whose job is solely to check the boxes be responsible for picking my produce. I feel that. I think today was the first time I bought produce from there curbside. It consisted of cilantro, tomatillos, and poblano peppers. Basically if they don't look rotten, they're good. I couldn't have them pick out delicate produce. Usually what I buy curbside is packaged.
