Ugh. I can't find DD2s cat. I think she got closed in a room, or someplace, when the police were here, last night. I keep hearing her crying, I think. But the second she hears me up, looking for her, she's quiet as a church mouse. I've looked everywhere and called her, 4-5 times today. Nothing. All the bedrooms doors and closets are open, so she shouldn't be trapped in a room. But then, why can't I find her (haven't seen her)? And why do I keep hearing her crying? I barely have the strength to walk out of the bedroom, much less, keep looking through this whole house, a billion times, looking for a cat who could be anywhere (inside). I keep thinking, she'll come out, when she's ready. But why is she crying, for hours on end, like she's locked in a room or something? Cats can be such strange creatures. Any suggestions? I think she must be in the basement (where her food and water are), or in the garage. But if she wants out, why doesn't she come out, when I open the door? I call her and look for her? She's not afraid of me. Or me, of her. Weird. And why does she keep going to silent mode, when I'm looking for her, then start crying again, the minute, I lay back down, in bed? She and I are the only ones in the house. And have been the only ones, for a week now. Maybe she just misses her family? Is that possible? I'll go down and check to be sure she's been eating and drinking. Then I'll know she's likely okay, somewhere. Cats! As a lifelong cat owner and occasional cat sitter, is there ANY possibility she is somehow under the bed, inside the innerspring, or otherwise in a crazy sub-bed space that cats will go to. You are right, cats! And yes, they do miss their families and don't like any changes in their daily routines even if they love the people present during that time.

TMR - rattle the cat food to make a lot of noise esp around her feeding times. She'll come out. Cats fit everywhere and at least you can hear her so she's in the house.

I could go with nephew to concert but that doesn't solve problem of me being home to get Christmas things done like getting the tree decorated. I came to this local boutique to pick up my stuff and they were closed. There was a sign that said back in 10 minutes so I'm waiting. I hope the person just ran across the street to get food or something. Otherwise I've wasted over a hour of my time tonight when it's precious. So go with your nephew. Then invite him over to decorate tree. Other Christmas stuff - maybe it doesn’t get done. But so what

Toomuchreality hoping you are starting to feel better. If you’re worse suggest you go to ER. You might need iv antibiotics for pneumonia. Please take care of yourself! Thanks! I'm on my second round of antibiotics, currently. A different type than the first ones. The first ones were for type B pneumonia. The ones I'm on now, are for A typical pneumonia (less common). The first dr said she didn't think I had pneumonia yet, and was trying to catch it, before it turned to pneumonia. When I saw my regular doctor on Tuesday, she said she could hear it, in both of my lungs. Xrays were taken, to confirm. Came back positive. She then gave me a different antibiotic. Said if not cleared up in 2 weeks, we'll take the next step. She said my heart looks enlarged on one side now. (It wasn't a year ago.) I feel more confident in my own dr's diagnosis. But she has more information about what has been tried and what tests have been done, so that makes sense. I'm not ready to go to the ER yet. Although I am miserable. I want to see if the new antibiotics work/help, first. I hate hospitals. You can't get any rest there, hooked up to all their machines and monitors. Here's hoping for the best! (I didn't know there were different types of pneumonia, until last Tuesday.)

I'll go down and check to be sure she's been eating and drinking. Then I'll know she's likely okay, somewhere. Cats! If you suspect she might be in the basement (for example) do you have her bedding you could put out in the basement where she might recognize her own scent? How about her litter box? Make sure it is scooped out of crap. If you then find the litter disturbed you will know she isn't locked up some where. My thoughts exactly. Her food is automatically dispensed 4 times a day, so if there's food in her bowl, that's a good indicator, since she always eats it immediately. She normally sleeps in DDs bed, at night, or on a barstool during the day. I'm going now, to check her food, water and clean her litter box again, even though I just did it, 2 days ago. I need to know when she had it all renewed, so there's no guessing. Thanks for your response. I haven't had a cat in 40 years, that's why I asked for suggestions. I appreciate yours.

This is an interesting factoid from the 'net It is common for many winning racehorses to sire 300 plus foals, as people are often eager to get the next champion. For example, the legendary Secretariat sired a total of 663 foals. After retiring from racing on April 10, 1940, Seabiscuit lived at stud Ridgewood Ranch in Willits, California. However, during his life, Seabiscuit only sired 108 foals. Out of all of his offspring, two horses, Sea Sovereign and Sea Swallow, were moderately successful racehorses.Ironically, Secretariat sired relatively few winners himself and certainly nothing that measured up to his superstar status. Genetics, nutrition and training all play a role in success in every equine sport, but nothing can predict what animal will have that indefinable "it" factor that makes a legend. Some call it "heart" and you can't breed it, only pray you recognize it when it's there. Another interesting factoid. Secretariats first foal was born to an Appaloosa mare just a few miles from my house. I was only 4 so don't remember it, but our small town was crawling with news reporters when that happened.. First Secretary couldn't race himself due to a late birthday but he was pretty sought after as a stud in Appaloosa racing. That's really interesting as I know the thoroughbred registry is sort of a closed thing, but I know nothing about the Appaloosa registry. Do you know how the colts were registered-did they get dual status? The thoroughbred registry is one of the few that still requires live cover versus artificial insemination so he had to get the deed done in person.

UPDATE: Cat has been found!
I didn't actually find her, so I don't know where she was, if I need to find her again. But while I was cleaning her litter box (really cleaning well) , I noticed she hadn't eaten her food, which concerned me a lot. So I emptied the food from the dish, then washed the dish well and when I went back into her room, to replace the dish, there she was! Sitting by her food bowl. I talked to her and gave her some love. Then put a little food in her dish (like what I'd thrown out), in case she was hungry. Then I petted her again and thanked her for coming out.
So we're all good again.
Thanks for the suggestions and help!
I'm now doing my laundry, so I'll have clean clothes and pajamas to wear, for the next 2-3 days, until I get to go home!

Do you know how the colts were registered-did they get dual status? The thoroughbred registry is one of the few that still requires live cover versus artificial insemination so he had to get the deed done in person. First Secretary was only registered as an Appaloosa. The Appaloosa breed has two registry levels. Regular registry (shows all the color characteristics) and breeding stock which are offspring of a registered Appy that has no color. Breeding stock Appys can only be bred to full regular register Appys if you want to register their offspring. Regular registry Apps with color can be bred to other registered Apps, breeding stock apps or registered Quarter Horses, Thoroughbreds or Arabians. First Secretary was the result of a test breeding to a pretty fugly mare and Clairborne Farms refused to allow Secretariats name to be on the registration, but Nankivils (the ones that bought her), pitched a fit and said they were going to put "Unknown Thoroughbred Triple Crown Winner" as the sire. Secretariat was the only living Triple Crown winner. They eventually relented and allowed his name to be put on the registration. Appaloosas and Appaloosa racing was pretty big back in the 70's and 80's in MN and I actually managed an Appaloosa show/race barn with a World Champion Secretariat granddaughter. This is First Secretary as a baby.

What a beautiful foal! I had the privilege of meeting a "grandchild" of Secretariat many years ago. I was visiting the farm of a lady who does animal rescues, and most of her babies are miniature horses, but she had the opportunity to get this big, beautiful Thoroughbred, and she just couldn't say no. I often wonder if she found a new home for him, or if she decided to keep him. He sure was handsome!

The client appreciation dinner our contractor threw tonight was amazing! The one common thread was we were all customers, yet we sat with a couple we hadn't seen in 4-5 years and had a wonderful conversation about their journey taking care of a special need adult son. And then I met DH's barber who lives and works in a neighboring area. Great Mexican food, plenty of alcohol, trivia games, door prizes, and goody bags. Great night and now it's good night, all!

We are here, I'm tired, got DD's clothes changed and her jams on. Had to go in and get her glasses off her she was so tired.
Son was not feeling good, he got his second shingles shot and it got him like it did me. Hated for him to have to drive to Seatec today.
It was only 60 when we got here, its now up to 70, only been home a couple of hours. But it still feels cold in here, all the furnishings have to get warm too.
DD wasn't hungry but I was, so found a can of salmon and ate some and some canned oranges, so that was dinner for me.
I need to get the new shower heads on the showers maybe tomorrow, the chlorine in the water is rough on my skin, that's for sure and they will filter it out, so need to get them up.
About ready for bed, I'm tired.

Good morning, you founts of erudition, come to me riding the ether to Y Ma'am. Welcome to Friday! I hope your day provides you with warmth and hope, and offers a tremendous dessert. And that no one pees on your pancakes. I'm glad, toomuchreality, that you found the cat and that you're getting treatment for the other type of pneumonia. Glad you made it to Washington, countrygirl2. Thank you for sharing your knowledge of horses and equine breeding, minnesotapaintlady. And, of course, your genius with personal money management. I received the last half of my order for frames from Michael's yesterday. Now I'm surrounded by boxes in the living room. Need to catalog them and bring them down to the basement once we have them sorted and put a few to use right away. Also need to prepare for tomorrow, when DH together with DSis will do one fair and I'll do another 1/2 hour away. I'd already agreed to do the one away when we learned of the one in town right here, so this is how we're handling it. It's cold again this morning, in the 20's. This was yesterday's sunrise, with Brants paddling by:

The upper sections will be warmer. We also spent 10 minutes standing by the ice talking to a friend. I could see my breath. I just didn't think about it being so cold. I think the last time we saw these kids play was pre covid. I will be packing accordingly when we see them late January. It also wasn't cold enough outside then that I would have had hat or gloves in the car. I need to get moving on my list today. I need to pack and get the Christmas tree at least in place. I also think I'm going to give the Trans Siberian Orchestra tickets to our nephew. I really don't want to but DH's work screwed us by making his Christmas party a week later than the save the date they got. Apparently nephew really wants to go but I didn't know this when we bought tickets. I've seen them several times and this is a hard year for me to give up fun stuff but I just know by Friday night, DH will be miserable and it will not be pleasant. My boss has been so rude to me this year that when the invitation came to my Christmas party I told DH “Yeah, we’re not going to that”. He said “Good, because I promised my friends we would go to their party this year”. Party is tonight, in Chicago. I just have to come up with something to wear. I also have been working long hours the past few weeks. My house is an absolute mess. I would love to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra. It is a great gift for your nephew, but I can imagine your disappointment over not going yourself. I haven’t been by my Mom’s since Saturday, talked to her for a minute on Monday night and Tuesday morning to remind her of something. I haven’t checked her email in a week. I need to make a final list of car issues before warranty expires. There is one or two service updates that should be applied, but they are not US ones, so don’t know if Zi can get dealer to do them. To live in a country that actually protects consumers.

Had a great time at the hockey game last night and didn’t freeze! The home team lost in overtime but oh well. I got to put some faces with names too. Didn’t get home until almost 1am. DH offered to take DD1 to school this morning so I got to sleep in (some). I’m awake now so will get ready for work soon then head in.

I realized the links they had sent me in email were reset password and select your auth type. After resetting my password multiple times and the auth timing out, I did not want to go to square one. Luckily the conglomerate website had a link to the portal and a massive dropdown where you selected where you actually went to see a medical professional. Might check it out on the weekend and see how many locations there are or more importantly how many are in areas I might need/want in the future.
Glad I did not have to reboot the laptop. Might try to do bday cards in RL or figure out how to do virtual cards by phone a week from now. My niece has the same birthday as one of my BFF's sons. Sadly my free email changed their interface so I get a reminder via email for my niece, but was unable to do it for my nephew. In addition I don't think there has been a year since he was born that I was not sick and in crash and burn mode. Sigh.
I'd ask Crestie to make breakfast but that could only lead to bad things for me, so ...

Welcome to my world except for that sleep for 12 hours bit. I did sleep over 5 hours but did not quite make 6. I think this time of transition (autumn, fall) plus the time change makes many people sick or under the weather.

I'm joining the club in regards to supervisors.
I got told I'm single handedly ruining productivity and customer satisfaction in the lab again.
I started tracking my productivity after the last time I'm averaging 50 submissions a week, close to 200 a month. I get them all out within 24 hours or less. Worst case 48 if I get slammed.
Nope apparently I'm supposed to literally be same day. Nobody told me this. In fact I remember my work BFF and I getting our asses handed to use precisely for doing what I've been told I am supposed to be doing now.
I'm not supposed to sit down or take a break . I'm only allowed to sit if I am entering data otherwise I must be visibly up and working or cleaning or asking for stuff. I get a 30 minute lunch that's it.
Which I'm tempted to talk to HR about because I'm categorized as hourly but exempt so I can't get overtime. If I'm hourly I get two 15 minute breaks.
I usually don't take them I sprinkle sitting for a few minutes to check email and stuff.
If they want to hammer I'm hourly then I'm thinking of parking my ass for 15 minutes twice a day. With emails from HR saying I can.
And now I'm snippy. Apparently asking if a customer would have the proper forms this time to ensure I can quickly turn things around as instructed was rude. I'm not supposed to ask about those things anymore.
Even though if I don't have everything I need and thus have to fill it all out myself which takes time and cuts into my productivity which I then get in trouble for.
Really hoping one of these two jobs pans out. DH is encouraging me to look elsewhere in the new year.
Honestly I wouldn't mind this job as much if I had anyone else as my manager. I don't hear this from anyone else I work with. Unless they are gossiping behind my back the only person who thinks I'm destroying the lab is my manager.

I have a feeling it has to do with all this KPI crap our big wig keeps touting but us peons have never been told what our individual KPIs are.
We all know we're now being tracked but not by what or how.
As soon as he touted it I knew I was in for it. We're not a production floor. We're a lab. My duties change by the hour.
I'm probably fucking with someone's bonus.
If you want me to meet all these data points fine but then tell me what data you're measuring! I don't appreciate being told I'm failing when I don't know what "success" is being defined as.
I HATE this kind of shit. It never works in a lab and you end up losing people over it. I've seen people get bugs up their butt with it multiple times. It seems to go in and out of fashion every few years.

I'm probably fucking with someone's bonus. No worries, they probably deserve it. If you want me to meet all these data points fine but then tell me what data you're measuring! I don't appreciate being told I'm failing when I don't know what "success" is being defined as. I hated when I got the "people said" line. If you can't tell me who, tell me how many people. And if you won't give that up I've learned its an attempted mind f*ck because it is you trying to get me in trouble thinking it will make you look better. My guess is they are looking to cut headcount and/or pay. Sorry. I HATE this kind of shit. It never works in a lab and you end up losing people over it. I've seen people get bugs up their butt with it multiple times. It seems to go in and out of fashion every few years. Do you have any connections that can find out, even if its what areas are they trying to measure?

I just proposed a new policy for the inherited "problem" construction account. I saved them $50K. I'm thinking they probably like the new account manager better. 😁
