I just proposed a new policy for the inherited "problem" construction account. I saved them $50K. I'm thinking they probably like the new account manager better. 😁 On Linked In I have been getting a lot of interest about insurance analysis jobs recently. I do not think I will will go that route.

Please give me strength and good thoughts today. Of course, after I got the doctor's note to HR b4 9AM, several phone contacts(one text, one VM?) follow from my boss. I am not going to look at them until after their business day ends. I have a lot to accomplish including using the Neti Pot to improve my sinus health. I'd bet with 86% certainty none of what she sent me needs to be dealt with any earlier than Monday.
Going to shake out fleece and hopefully wash the old stuff today and hang to dry. The new stuff just went in and I think I need to change the pee pads every two days because of his increased peeing and pooping. Unfortunately, yesterday one of his nails started bleeding. Not sure if he tried to groom himself and just bit too high up or whether it was due to other causes. I immediately bathed him etc. and I want to wash the piece of fleece he got blood on yesterday when I picked him up. Fresh red like what's coming out of one of my sinuses.

Good idea. Insurance is a weird profession. Nobody grows up aspiring to be in insurance like they do doctors and police officers. Once you get in you either quickly decide it's not for you or you become a lifer. I'm not sure which direction is better/worse.

Last night was our last SLAP at Mykonos. I’m pretty sorry about this because this was one of the first restaurants in this city that TD took me to. Food was excellent, as usual. At 4:30, the parking lot was so full that we had to park on the street. We had a reservation for 12. When we got there, there was a line of people trying to get into the bar. When we left, every single table was full at the restaurant.
There were 3 waitstaff in the restaurant, and they were running their feet off. The girl we had did a fabulous job for us, and I suspect that she walked out with a $500 tip just from us. Most of us were tipping ~50%.

currently waiting on a recruiter to call me. she moved our appointment to 1130 after she realized she'd double booked herself for 11. I'll give her another 10min before I write this off.

Test drove our new tamale source for breakfast with eggs - the tamales are really good. Their tomatillo salsa is deadly, one spoon had me sweating profusely. This motivated me to scrub down the bathrooms and mop bathroom floors. Then I was still alert enough to reconcile the bank statement, enter my CC statement, and log into DH's retirement account to change the settings so he will continue to get his annual statement by mail. I know they HATE people like him but too bad - he would never figure out how to get his statement online so they will just have to kill a tree and mail the damn thing.

I'm going with my sister and BIL tonight to see Napoleon. It's a new theater with a bar and big reclining chairs with footrests, instead of rows of uncomfortable seats. Then they're coming over for focaccia with bacon and onion topping, and wine.

I bought a turkey yesterday...no particular reason, other than it was on sale. It's living on my balcony while it's below freezing. It's going to warm up soon, so I had better eat a lot of stuff from my freezer to make room.

Slight break in the rain today. Need to go to the grocery store, and DS wants to go too. She won’t get off work until 1. Hope the rain stays away that long.

Are 10 pairs of cowboy boots too many for one person to own? Asking for a friend.

After yesterday's rousing meeting I decided to apply for a job at a totally different company.
I match a good portion of their requirements.
Pays $70-80k a year which is $20k more than I make now.
Plus it's in Council Bluffs so more of my income comes home due to no more Nebraska tax.
I'd be dumb not to try.
Especially since it seems I have no future here unless I can get out of this department.
And they wonder why they did so bad on the employee satisfaction survey HR had a talk with them.
Oh yeah it's because we're ungrateful shots who can't just be happy they haven't fired us yet.
Can't wait to see the results of last week's survey!

Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, x large number. So HR #2 just called on my home phone line, and I answered it only because I just left a VM for the place that I am on the waiting list for. I did give a nice disclaimer which has the benefit of being true. I am not responsible in the moment for anything I do or say while I am returning from repeated less than 4 hours sleep to somewhat functional. The boss now has a doctor's note. What in the heck does she really need before Monday? Nothing. Of that I am fairly certain because they wanted #2 to call me to see how I sound I would bet. That's my old job shit. That's harassment because you don't know how to manage after all this time. Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy. There are people I want to punch 30 years into the future or perhaps 50 years into the past.

I don't know how to tune the focus piece on my phone yet, and I had turned it off ... i.e. turned off Do Not Disturb even though all I am waiting for is a neighbor who is moving out to contact me. He said he might have time today to take me to a grocery store to get Romaine lettuce for Moon Shadow and maybe I can get a few other things if he's not too exhausted or tapped for time.
Argggggggggggggggggggh.
Damn busybody small workplaces.

I have this beautiful Ariat pair that I may never get to wear again unless I drop my pandemic weight etc.

This is the shit I dealt with constantly at the facility of no caring for employees. It was worse. Like Opti has lots of papers and docs to sue with kind of bad. The Aides used to use their husbands to call in because they would browbeat people to come in and then later pretend they did not force you and they "did not put a gun to your head".

But yes some things are obvious this year because it is round #2. Lost focus last night and forgot to take my second med with dinner. Read more of the side effects and So it will be longer than a "10" day course of antibiotics. Joy. Now I'll be counting the damn things daily probably.

I have a feeling it has to do with all this KPI crap our big wig keeps touting but us peons have never been told what our individual KPIs are. We all know we're now being tracked but not by what or how.
As soon as he touted it I knew I was in for it. We're not a production floor. We're a lab. My duties change by the hour. I'm probably fucking with someone's bonus. If you want me to meet all these data points fine but then tell me what data you're measuring! I don't appreciate being told I'm failing when I don't know what "success" is being defined as. I HATE this kind of shit. It never works in a lab and you end up losing people over it. I've seen people get bugs up their butt with it multiple times. It seems to go in and out of fashion every few years. I'd put this question in writing to your boss and see what happens.

I got a late start today but I have sunshine!
Drinking tea. I have to change and trim the pampas so it doesn't look so...straggly and beat down.

I like this particular theatre because there's plenty of free parking and it's always empty. There will probably be about six people watching the movie. It's in a predominately Jewish neighbourhood, and it's a Friday night during Hanukkah. Very special time. The theatre probably makes its money showing kids' movies during the day. Problem is, it's no longer a Cineplex Odeon, but a Starz theatre. I have $50 worth of gift cards for Cineplex Odeon.

I think the only thing one can refer to would be the goals in the annual review if there is one. I know ours are supposed to be updated quarterly by our managers but that usually doesn’t happen so it’s a problem when we’re writing our annual review for the previous year and a bunch of goals have changed over that time period. Would you be able to ask those specific things to be put on your goal list so you all know exactly what they want you to do.?
