Dammit. DS’ ADHD meds are OOS at the local pharmacy, called and struck out on a couple of other fronts. We have some extra supply but making plans to trial and figure out dosing schedules for non extended release formulations-have some on hand for booster purposes, musing whether to request the psychiatrist to prescribe more. This has been such a pain, this year! Personally, I don't care for the non extended release type. The highs and lows are too much of a rollercoaster, for me. I hope you find what you need!

I started saving in a 401K at 20 and had profit sharing at that job. I stupidly left just before I vested. Then I cashed out my 401K balance to buy a house. The next Job I got I started saving for retirement again...and I still feel like I just don't have enough. This am we saw on the news about some person that won the Michigan Lottery $25,000 for life. DH wasn't getting it. I told him it is not $25,000 it is $25,000 a year for life. That would make me feel like I could retire with no worries. I am not one for playing the lottery though, so it is very, very unlikely anything like that is in my future.
My pension is $25,000 a year for life. It's enough to live on, although not live well. It would have been more, but I cashed out a significant portion when we moved to California. My only saving grace is universal healthcare. Yeah, I wasn't saying that that alone was enough for me to retire on, but that on top of what we have saved, and SS/Medicare would be enough for me to retire. DH can keep working But what Mich and MPL are saying about the cost of health care gives me pause. I always figured I would have to work until I qualified for Medicare or was close. We will see. My DH really is doing very well, if we had a crystal ball and knew he had 5-8 years at the current job, it would be different, but we don't - so best plan is for us both to keep working. I was going to go in and choose DH's benefits, he is an exclusive agent so he can buy into dental and vision, but not health care. He can also opt into life insurance, long term care (with medical review), and he can defer some of his compensation. We are going to defer at least 10% this year. I have always been leery of it b/c it is not secured in bankruptcy...but he is close enough to retirement, and high enough income that it is worth the risk to defer some $$. DH gave me the code, but the web site was just spinning. So I will do at home. I have until December 5th to set up. If I don't do anything - this years options continue (Vison and Dental). DH called and said he got my new phone. He said I can now call the T-mobile store in town and see if they have the 512 gig phone that I had thought I wanted. He thinks the 264 is enough-he ordered it without consulting with me - cause he is like that. Current phone is 64 Gigs and I have 57.9 gigs used. I offloaded some apps and tried to back up attached to my computer and it still would not run the update. I told him by the time I add back the apps that are not loaded up and add some pictures/videos I could be out of memory again. All my pictures are actually stored in I-cloud. DD said hers are too. Idk what to do about the size of the memory on the phone, I will have to decide tonight.

You may have read this already, but its still good. DIARY OF A SNOW SHOVELER: Moved to North Dakota this fall. We heard that summers are fun and winter is beautiful. We think there is no more beautiful a place in the whole world! December 8 - 6:00 PM It started to snow. The first snow of the season and the wife and I took our cocktails and sat for hours by the window watching the huge soft flakes drift down from heaven. It looked like a Grandma Moses print. So romantic, we felt like newlyweds again. I love snow! December 9 - We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Can there be a more lovely place in the whole world? Moving here was the best idea I've ever had! Shoveled for the first time in years and felt like a boy again. I did both our driveway and the sidewalks. This afternoon the snowplow came along and covered up the sidewalks and closed in the driveway, so I got to shovel again. What a perfect life! December 12 - The sun has melted all our lovely snow. Such a disappointment! My neighbor tells me not to worry- we'll definitely have a white Christmas. No snow on Christmas would be awful! Bob says we'll have so much snow by the end of winter, that I'll never want to see snow again. I don't think that's possible. Bob is such a nice man, I'm glad he's our neighbor. December 14 - Snow, lovely snow! 8 inches last night. The temperature dropped to -20. The cold makes everything sparkle so. The wind took my breath away, but I warmed up by shoveling the driveway and sidewalks. This is the life! The snowplow came back this afternoon and buried everything again. I didn't realize I would have to do quite this much shoveling, but I'll certainly get back in shape this way. I wish I wouldn't huff and puff so. December 15 - 20 inches forecast. Sold my van and bought a 4x4 Blazer. Bought snow tires for the wife's car and 2 extra shovels. Stocked the freezer. The wife wants a wood stove in case the electricity goes out. I think that's silly. We aren't in Alaska, after all. December 16 - Ice storm this morning. Fell on my ass on the ice in the driveway putting down salt. Hurt like hell. The wife laughed for an hour, which I think was very cruel. December 17 - Still way below freezing. Roads are too icy to go anywhere. Electricity was off for 5 hours. I had to pile the blankets on to stay warm. Nothing to do but stare at the wife and try not to irritate her. Guess I should've bought a wood stove, but won't admit it to her. God! I hate it when she's right. I can't believe I'm freezing to death in my own living room. December 20 - Electricity's back on, but had another 14 inches of the damn stuff last night. More shoveling! Took all day. The damn snowplow came by twice. Tried to find a neighbor kid to shovel, but. they said they're too busy playing hockey. I think they're lying. Called the only hardware store around to see about buying a snow blower and they're out. Might have another shipment in March. I think they're lying. Bob says I have to shovel or the city will have it done and bill me. I think he's lying. December 22 - Bob was right about a white Christmas because 13 more inches of the white shit fell today, and it's so cold, it probably won't melt till August. Took me 45 minutes to get all dressed up to go out to shovel and then I had to piss. By the time I got undressed, pissed and dressed again, I was too tired to shovel. Tried to hire Bob-who has a plow on his truck-for the rest of the winter, but he says he's too busy. I think the asshole is lying. December 23 - Only 2 inches of snow today. And it warmed up to 0. The wife wanted me to decorate the front of the house this morning. What is she, nuts?!! Why didn't she tell me to do that a month ago. She says she did but I think she's lying. December 24 - 6 inches - Snow packed so hard by snowplow, l broke the shovel. Thought I was having a heart attack. If I ever catch the son of a bitch who drives that snow plow, I'll drag him through the snow by his balls and beat him to death with my broken shovel. I know he hides around the corner and waits for me to finish shoveling, and then he comes down the street...at a 100 miles an hour and throws snow all over where I've just been! Tonight the wife wanted me to sing Christmas carols with her and open our presents...but I was too busy watching for the damn snowplow. December 25 - Merry f---ing Christmas! 20 more inches of the damn slop tonight - snowed in. The idea of shoveling makes my blood boil. God, I hate the snow! Then the snowplow driver came by asking for a donation and I hit him over the head with my shovel. The wife says I have a bad attitude. I think she's a fricking idiot. If I have to watch "It's A Wonderful Life" one more time, I'm going to feed her through a chipper shredder. December 26 - Still snowed in. Why the hell did I ever move here? It was all HER idea. She's really getting on my nerves. December 27 - Temperature dropped to -30 and the pipes froze; plumber came after 14 hours of waiting for him, he only charged me $4,400 to replace all my pipes. December 28 - Warmed up to above -20. Still snowed in. The BITCH is driving me crazy!!! December 29 - 10 more inches. Bob says I have to shovel the roof or it could cave in. That's the silliest thing I ever heard. How dumb does he think I am? December 30 - Roof caved in. I beat up the snow plow driver, and now he is suing me for a million dollars, not only for the beating I gave him, but also for trying to shove the broken snow shovel up his ass. The wife went home to her mother. Nine more inches predicted. December 31 - I set fire to what's left of the house. No more shoveling. January 8 - Feel so good. I just love those little white pills they keep giving me. Why am I tied to the bed -Author Unknown

I ordered hubs custom seat covers for his truck, just the front. I think its the same company I got the ones for his 2006 Lincoln from. They were on sale, so a decent price. That is his Christmas present, like he said it's ok if they don't get here on time. He actually liked the idea so I feel good that I got him something he likes. Not a shirt and stuff like that. We have really scaled back this year. Not for financial reasons, just for lack of anything we need..
Little guy has his presents purchased, need to mail. I don't have anything for DIL son, or DD. I'm usually done by now. Oh boy, not good. I will have a lot to do from the 8th to the 25th. But that's ok, will keep me out of trouble.

Got DD to the chiropractor so she is happy. She said it really helps. Talked to son a bit and they are trying little guy in soccer. Maybe something like that he can do on his own. He tried baseball and son said he had to watch him swinging a bat around and him not paying attention to others doing the same. We will see how this turns out. He needs to do something to burn energy that's for sure. I suggested they come here as son is off a month but he said little guy is in school and in soccer now so hard to leave. I guess hubs will be alone for Xmas, he doesn't care but I do a lot more than he does. I want to get him front seatcovers for his 2021 truck. He has caught something he wears on the front seat and has torn it on the side and looks awful plus its going to tear more. So just the front 2 are needed and the passenger just so they match. baseball is horrible for hyper little boys. Way too much waiting, and if you think about it, the rules are pretty complicated. ETA: Football too. Soccer, hockey, and lacrosse are great. Also, swimming and running would tire them out too.

This was the first thing that knocked us into IRMAA. IRMAA is based on your income 2 years prior, so my IRMAA in 2024 is going to be based off the 2022 tax return. Go look at what IRMAA levels are to see where you’d fall. IRMAA also hits the Plan D plans for prescriptions as well. About phones, lack of memory has mainly been the impetus for us to get a new phone. I think our current phones are 512 GB.

This was me 2 weeks ago. I couldn't stop coughing, couldn't breathe, and threw up. I finally went to the pharmacy and asked for help picking an OTC cough suppressant that wouldn't be a problem with my high blood pressure. After double-checking, the pharmacy angel recommended original Delsym which did the trick. It's a liquid and 1 dose lasts 12 hours. Thanks for this info! I will give this a try, later today. I really hope it helps! High blood pressure is something, I also deal with. So good to know. TMR part of my issue is hydration and weather changes. Overnight, I went from seems to be improving to weather drops in temp and humidity significantly. So, I was itching all over my body. Dehydrated in and out and wondering WTE? What did I miss? So I bought some high-end bath salts while under the influence of learning my fave chocolate store was closing. Wish I had looked for bath oils instead. I watch my salt intake because sometimes I don't have enough stuff to balance it out, especially when farm stands and fresh produce are less common and more expensive. So, Sunday I bought the best-looking discounted watermelon, because I can eat my hydration. Had almost totally lost my desire to eat until survival mode kicked in. Entire body had moisture taken out of it, felt like instantaneously, but maybe it was just one painful long RT bus trip.

The awareness that she has of where the opposing players are and what plays to make - I haven't seen that in many young kids. It can be complicated. The bat thing is a big pet peeve of mine - that needs to be addressed by the coaches. They need to be on those kids that bats are on the ground unless it is their turn in the warmup circle. My youngest prefers the faster pace of basketball - though hates taking her turn on the bench. They both love swimming. I think that's the best exercise / exhaustion technique for young kids! FWIW, they're 9 and 7.

I survived jury duty and promptly finished my cold cup of coffee. Going to find something to eat and get back to work. I didn't get chosen. It was assault with a deadly weapon, firing at a house, fleeing, evading arrest, and some other stuff. Also, there is no way in hell I would hire the defense attorney for myself, ever.

I probably dislike trump as much or more than anyone. However, we are watching Rosalynn Carter's funeral. It is all very classy except, Melania Trump is there and they have not once acknowledged her in any way. They did say all the first ladies a few times, but the rest they said by name. I have been snubbed before and its definitely not a good feeling. Unless it was directed from the family this should not have happened. They are a good family and it seems odd to me, when they preached love that this would happen. Why can't all parties stop doing such as this.

After breakfast I got my author from birth through age thirteen. Tomorrow and Thursday I'll try to get him through high school including athletics, summer jobs, and off to college. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow afternoon to follow up on the change in statins and will go get an early blood draw Friday. Thursday is the third try to get a working sink sprayer. DH picked up his watch today and, surprisingly, there was no charge for the work. It might have been operator error

I have not done much today.
Have not hit the books yet. Sigh
DD and I ate breakfast at McD's, hubs forgot he had an appt so took off for it and did not eat. He had a Snickers ice cream or something on the way home. He is eating doritos and dip, he bought a whole bunch of junk food the other day, I told him he will end up with dementia like his mom, he is not feeding his brain. He does take vitamins. If he doesn't like what I make he will eat junk. And he knew I was going to bake some brownies and DD some lemon bars so we already had junk for this day. I don't bake as much as I used to thankfully.
Doesn't like chicken, fish, only some pork items, steaks, beef stew meat, and ground round. Will eat barbecue, spinach, peas, carrots, and salad. Noodles, mashed potatoes, potatoes in any form. He ate so much rice working overseas, he doesn't care much for it. He will eat cereals, not the sugar coated stuff either. At least he will eat a baked potato tonight with toppings so that is something.
DD will eat more of a variety than he does.
I will just have to cook more of what he likes I guess, of late have not been doing a good job of cooking. Today I had a mango smoothie and a can of pears packed in their own juice, poured the juice off. We are going to the city tomorrow and I'm stocking up on fruit, about the only fruit he eats is bananas. If he has it he wants tons of sugar on it like in a pie. I eat most fruits raw and fresh, though raw veggies near bedtime are starting to bother me.

I need to run get the mail and run out to the gas station for lemons and limes (because I don't feel like running all the way to town). But it is 34 degrees and the wind is howling so I don't wanna.

good effing lord, it's freezing out there today. it's only a 15 degree difference from yesterday, but today definitely feels like winter. woof. I ran out to the grocery store after my last call to pick up a couple things I ran out of for pup dinner tonight. and then when I got back, I stood outside with the landscapers to ask a few questions about the remaining work. I'm wearing a pretty cozy fleece today, since the door's been open for part of the day so the pups could supervise, but jeez. I need to sign off a couple things before I log off tonight, but I need to wait til my hands thaw out so I can actually do so.

It was 17 below windchill this morning and my door locks are frozen. Luckily, it's unlikely there is anyone walking around stealing from cars today...not that I have anything very valuable in there anyhow.

With windchill it is low 20s now. I do not have the clothing I had when I lived in IL and IN. MPL, I m worried about my door lock to my place. I am a little more protected than the first floor peeps, but it really depends on how the wind blows and the sustained wind direction.

Last month I found a couple of packages of Patak's Lentil Tikka Masala which I served last night with basmati rice and garlic naan. It was a hit so I'll look for it next time I'm at one of the ethnic groceries. I checked the Patak website and they have some awesome curry recipes on the website so I may grab a couple jars of their simmer sauces too. And I just printed out an Instant Pot recipe for butternut squash curry with coconut milk and Thai curry paste.
Tonight will be crispy ground beef tacos with avocado and tomatoes. Tomorrow might will be baked tilapia and some steamed green beans.

good effing lord, it's freezing out there today. it's only a 15 degree difference from yesterday, but today definitely feels like winter. My car door locks won't work. It was 17 below windchill this morning and my door locks are frozen. Luckily, it's unlikely there is anyone walking around stealing from cars today...not that I have anything very valuable in there anyhow. yeah, no. there's a reason I moved to the beach. it's generally milder here (in both directions) than even an hour inland where I moved from.

After I do my blood draw Friday morning, I'm going to take the last two bins of autumn to the storage locker and bring back the first load of Christmas. It will be December 1 which means a veritable zoo as people move on the first but it can't be helped-I am determined to get Christmas stuff up this weekend. Then next week I have to do what little gift shopping we do - three gift cards, two really good bottles of wine, maybe an upscale rain gauge for the couple next door, and something for the disabled hermit bachelor across the street. And maybe something from Lush Cosmetics for my partner in crime, Madam President.
And then there's the Christmas cards.

With windchill it is low 20s now. I do not have the clothing I had when I lived in IL and IN. MPL, I m worried about my door lock to my place. I am a little more protected than the first floor peeps, but it really depends on how the wind blows and the sustained wind direction. I washed my car last night which probably wasn't wise, but it was top to bottom salt.

Made it to the store. I was incorrect, the temp was 27 without the wind chill. I hate winter.

28 here and 18 with the windchill. I do not carry the mailbox key with my house key. DH does. I told him he could get the mail that it was too cold for me to go back out once I got inside.
I had a meeting with some west coast coworkers today. They were cold and it was 57 there at 830am. 57 would seem tropical.
Once I warm up I guess I'm going to cook because it is too damn cold to go out. It feels like a day in which I'd make DH take me out but too cold. In office days drain me and leave me with a massive headache.

No matter when I do so, it WILL rain within 24 hours, even during summer - our dry season!

It's 19 with a feels like of 12 and it is COLD. Obviously, the snow is not melting.
I am looking forward to my basketball team playing tonight. They are now down to #7. Will be fun to see how they react to the first loss of the season. This is not supposed to be a good team they are playing, but one never knows.

But you probably don't want that all over your just washed car. IDK.

Little bit jealous you get to follow a team up close and personal after college. I love basketball. Me and YS are fans of both bball and football, but cheered much more for bball because of being indoors and fewer fans in the stands. I can play bball, but never learned enough to be good at scoring.

Temp here, is 39°. Feels like C O L D! Actually, I haven't been outside yet, today. But it looks cold. Actually, I haven't looked outside yet, either. 😄 But the sky is grey and dreary. I can't imagine that it's warm.
