I'm not surprised by this at all. When you have conservatives telling people that the brown people are trying to eradicate white people, the wackadoos come up with stuff like this. White people be white peopling. Weeeelll have you seen how many kids Nick Cannon has now?

Requested two discounts on previous purchases today. one was $13.25 and the other was $55 or so. DH and I have done ok, but why did I think when I was in my 40's that maybe I could maybe stop working, and here I am on the cusp of 60 still working, and feeling like I need to work as long as possible. I occurred to me over the weekend that if politicians are going to start telling people that working until 68 or 70 is realistic, they will start budgeting for retirement like they have until 68-70 to save up the $$ they will need, and that they will budget as if they need less $$ for retirement. It is a disaster waiting to happen. I started saving in a 401K at 20 and had profit sharing at that job. I stupidly left just before I vested. Then I cashed out my 401K balance to buy a house. The next Job I got I started saving for retirement again...and I still feel like I just don't have enough. This am we saw on the news about some person that won the Michigan Lottery $25,000 for life. DH wasn't getting it. I told him it is not $25,000 it is $25,000 a year for life. That would make me feel like I could retire with no worries. I am not one for playing the lottery though, so it is very, very unlikely anything like that is in my future. I talked to my brother yesterday and told him I think we should talk to Mom about quitting driving again. He of course would like to put Mom in an assisted living type place right away. I just am not ready to go that far yet. Still feel like I should quit working and have my mom come live with us. DH is on board to have her live with us, but I just don't think he realistically understands what that would involve. We had friends taking care of their mom with Demetia, at home and they never left her alone. When we saw them at friend's parties they never came together, as someone always stayed home with the mom. Mom could live another 5 or more years. I feel a lot of quilt b/c my Mom cared for my bedridden father at home, right up until the end of his life. It is very hard to think about doing less for her. I really, really cannot wrap my mind around still working when I’m 60yo. When I started having issues and pain here there and what seemed like everywhere, from wear and tear in my body, long before my stomach went haywire, my PCP that retired, expressed concern over whether I would be able to work long enough to retire. On one hand, I am glad I started putting money in my retirement account from day 1 at my job, when I was 26yo. On the other hand, retirement seemed so far away, that I treated it more like a savings account for some years, and took loans and withdrawals from it. I also think now about how when I started my current job, I kept work part time at my previous job, just long enough to be vested for a stock option they’d given us. And I immediately sold it. That was 25 years ago, and I walked away with $10k. That employer is still doing booming business, so sometimes I wonder how much the stock would be worth if I hadn’t sold it. So far, my family has taken care of our elders when they are unable to care for themselves any longer. But nobody had a Mom like mine. I have had to accept that I am not built the way the rest of my family is, and that my Mom is something different too. Actually, I’m not so bad, because I would’ve waited in my Grandmother hand and foot, if that had been needed. My Mom messed up by trying to force me to be responsible for her just because she didn’t want to be responsible for herself. She basically ruined the relationship, even though I kept pleading with her to stop, and telling her that she was ruining our relationship and how it was making me feel that she was trying to use me. I mean ugly crying and sobbing and begging her to just please stop, and act right, more than once. She didn’t stop. I can’t get past that. I eventually started yelling and cussing, which I’m not proud of either, because even though I cuss like a sailor, I’d never even cussed when my Mom could hear me, let alone while I was talking to her. It’s crazy, but me yelling and cussing got better results than all of my tears and begging. I’m the kind of person that if I love you, I will tell you when and how you are hurting me, so that when I change how I deal with you, you can’t honestly say you don’t know why. Now, I don’t see myself being able to be my Mom’s caretaker, the years she mistreated me messed that up. I would resent doing it, instead of doing it just out of love for her. I am not okay with the way I feel about my Mom, but I try not to be hard on myself about it, because I know I did everything I could, to try to avoid getting to this place.

Pink Cashmere For a limited time only, I and certain other posters are offering a 2 for 1 special. We will take care of Mister (if he doesn't move his stuff in the bedroom) and your therapist (if she cancels another appointment) for one low price of a sleepover, meal, and drinks. Seriously, I hope your therapist comes through for you and you can discuss the items you want to with her. He didn’t clean his mess in the bedroom. So the dog beds and all the shit he had in the floor, is in his wanna be man cave and all the crap on his dresser and nightstand is in a box. So the bedroom is clean, except something is wrong with the damn carpet cleaner. The water and solution wouldn’t come out at all at first, then it finally started coming out a little, but not correctly. I’m sure something is clogged. I took apart the parts I could figure out how to get apart and cleaned it, but it still didn’t work right. So I am aggravated and unhappy about that. No matter how slowly and thoroughly I vacuum before I clean the carpets, the carpet cleaner still leaves clumps of dog fur on the floor. What I cleaned out of it today, was a LOT of dog fur. The vacuum cleaner works, you can see all the dog fur it picks up in the clear canister. But it’s obviously still not getting all of it, and the thought of that is . I am pretty much disgusted with carpet at this point.

This white people has had more than enough of the white people like her. I'm still baffled how an excess of melanin makes you a bad person. Same. Let me tell you, being the melanated one can suck sometimes. On the plus side, our food is well seasoned. except you're missing the heat!

I spent a couple of hours on the book today between taking DH back and forth to the dealership for an oil change. I finished the family history section which may have been the worst of it in terms of redundancy. He wrote a lot about his dysfunctional parents which I think was cathartic for him, but I had to heavily edit for readability. Tomorrow I'll move on to birth and early life through elementary-middle school which will be somewhat less challenging. I'm toying with moving his confrontations with "isms", racism and antisemitism, throughout his life to a separate section, outside the chronology.
At this point, my office looks like his living room in miniature, every horizontal surface covered in paper with notes only I can understand.

I'm moving forward, through October with recording, have to print my depn schedule and enter it. I only see a couple of items we added this year and since the properties have not been in service this year, I should be good. Well the PO was but the bathroom work was done in 2022, so that's good.
His grandma's place was sold in Jan so done. PO is October, and other house November so I'm getting there.
I am going to keep at it till I finish as I want to be able to spend a month without thinking about it. If I don't will stay awake at night thinking about it. Work stuff used to bother me like that. I will finish all I have to enter through my last statement. Then I can print off the check register for this year and check with the invoices I printed off Amazon to check if I have them recorded.
I found why there were so many that hubs had and we didn't use, it was for stuff he bought while in Washington working on the mobile. Didn't dawn on me he had gotten that much stuff, so it's getting lots better.
I am going to be more careful with my credit card as it has been so compromised, don't want it happening again.
I have accounted for everything except the occasional charges for $7.99 and $11.99. They seem to be prime video but we pay for that by the year and its not owed. Hubs said he might have subscribed to something not realizing it. I have checked the channels and all my amazon spots and don't see anything. But I'm wondering if DIL may be looking at something or little guy when at the house. I may have to call amazon on those to find out. There are maybe 1 or 2 each a month. I will do that later right now need to finish what I'm doing instead.

My office is covered in paper right now, but its getting more and more organized.
I don't know what happened with the touchup this time but my hair is not soft and pretty like normal. I need to ask the beautician if she used something different on it. I go there because I like the way it comes out, shiny and easy to manage. Not so much right now, who knows why.
My sweet kitty left my paper box on my desk and is over here lying beside me. Dinner is done, I need to put leftovers away and load the d/w. We had spinach tortelini's with garlic basil spaghetti sauce.
We are also eating our pantry down and the one freezer so we are doing pretty good. I am out of ground round. I opened a package that said ground bacon?? I must have picked it up at Odon as ground beef. Never heard of it before. So hubs looked it up and says you can use it in a lot of dishes. Seem's kind of bad for cholesterol though. I will try some it with something. We thought about frying and using for toppings but I can't see a way to thoroughly soak the grease off it. I'm going to look up some suggestions for its use.
Might as well take a shower, fix my hair and than get back to work. Want to finish as much as I can of this stuff tonight. I need to get it done as I need to do cleaning before I leave. I want to leave things clean for hubs.
He said he is doing a little better, that he thinks the exercises are starting to help. We don't think he will ever be back like he was, but think it can get better. It may just be too early for him to try and travel, He said don't worry about it, for DD and I to go whether he can this time or not. He will sees the kids when he takes the boat up in about April. But every year you miss you can never get back.

20, 40, 60 -- it's still not what I'd expected, but it's good over all. Add 70 to it and you are describing me. Not that I mind but it is a bit odd that I wasn't right about even one of all those decades (shows you how much I know LOL) Same. None went the way I would have expected and I don't like where I am today. Mostly because of location which is not easily changed.

My pension is $25,000 a year for life. It's enough to live on, although not live well. It would have been more, but I cashed out a significant portion when we moved to California. My only saving grace is universal healthcare.

this is a lot of me being all up in my head lately, too. it's def not a fun place to be. 😕 hugs, lady. We can be triplets. I want to have a house paid for by the time I retire as well. It really does seem like it's going to take a lot to get that accomplished Especially since I'm now 45 with aging parents. I feel like I'll have to work until I'm 70 in order to get it done. By then, my parents likely won't be here anymore. This means I'll likely still be working while also having a hospital set up in said house. I got divorced when I was your age. No money but a cheap apartment, an old car, and two jobs got me by. At age 70, my house is paid for but it is because I took the balance out of my Roth. I owed $20k on the house I sold to buy this house so I would have been 72 when it was paid off. No mortgage was my dream, too. I did the hospital set up with DH. He had no money, by the way, but he paid his way with his SS check. And I didn't need his money because I was willing to work hard. I still do even though I am officially retired. In other words, I know what you are going to go through. You, chiver78, and Pink Cashmere will make it happen, though. I believe that. It won't be easy, and it won't necessarily be "fun." But it will be worth it.

I've been trying to pay my mortgage for a few days and the website is down. Turns out there was a cyber attack. I'm not seeing any kind of ETA when it will be back up. I called, and they said just try back in a few days, but there won't be any late fees for December payments. That doesn't sound too promising.

I have used bacon grease for potato leek soup, bean and more recently for chowder when I couldn't find a chunk of guanciale or salt pork. After you render the fat out of it, use the remains as a crumbled top for the soup. It probably would be good made into a carbonara too.

These finally came inside last night, under less than ideal circumstances, despite what I have been saying for weeks now. I won’t even get into all of that, I am just going to hope for the best now that they are inside. They are Meyer lemon trees. The bigger one, this will be its 3rd winter with us, and so far, not 1 lemon. It blooms, like it is starting to do now, but no viable lemons so far. It didn’t bloom at all this summer, but then it barely survived this past winter, and I actually thought it was dead, dead, for real, which is why I have the smaller one lol. They are already dropping leaves, and at this point, I have more potential flowers on both plants, than leaves. They are in my “yoga” room, and between the dropped leaves and dropped flowers, they will make a big mess, going by the past winters with the bigger one. But the flowers, if they manage to stay on the plants, smell SO good, and I am looking forward to that scent in that room, even if I still don’t get any lemons. I didn’t try very hard to find the Gardening thread, so y’all got stuck with this post. PS: If any of you have any helpful hints or tricks to help me help them, please share. Idk what the heck I am doing, I’ve read about caring for them, but I’m still mostly just winging it.

So my Christmas tree is finally done. For the last week I had a very "classy" tree up with nothing but silver glass ornaments some of which are about as old as I am, tiny white lights, and an angel on top that I bought somewhere in the world because it reminded me of the angel my parents had. Today I put all the ornaments, or rather as many as I could get on it, that make the tree mine: these represent firsts (like sons' first Christmases), gifts some from people long passed, the silver bell that still has the seating card from DS2 & DDIL wedding, vacations, friends etc. Lastly there was the piece de resistance: it made me both feel old, even if it is not the oldest ornament I have by several decades, and as always slightly nauseated. Today was the 40th anniversary of putting up the "Angel of Food Poisoning ". I keep and use all the ornaments the kids made when they were little. And When DS1 was 5yo they made a paper angel in class which he very proudly gifted to me. The angel is made of red/white/green paper. No surprise there but their teacher had them use green paper for the face -> food poisoning!!!

I just died for a minute. When I bought my Pacheco jersey, my niece said it fit fine in the store. I literally took my sweater off (I had a shirt on underneath) and asked my niece if it fit ok in the middle of the store. I got home and it's far too big and I want to take it back. I looked for the receipt and I can't find it. I put all my receipts from that day together, and all I could find was my Coach receipt. I was looking all over for the $130 scrap of paper. Luckily I found it on my dresser. Crisis averted. Carry on.

I thought I posted on here not long ago but don't see it here. I have made order out of chaos!! October is closed, in good condition, I have 2 sales of property booked only one more to go. Depn table was updated from last year, nothing added this one, so far. I am hoping to finish November the statement is out, shouldn't take long. Printed out and checked off invoices from Amazon, none of the ones I checked have been posted, not a ton of money but will still post them. I have odds and ends of things to clear up and post, some cash tickets and a few from debt cards. I went through a lot of receipts and payments, realized a lot of them came from Washington when hubs was painting and doing things up there, so pitched those. Books are current to date. Need to be clean at year end so they can be closed out. Next is DD's, but hers doesn't have a lot in it this year either. I could wait till I get home and may have to. I just have a better time if things like that aren't hanging over my head to do. Tomorrow, DD to chiropractor, next day go with hubs to docs appointment. But I can work on those in the afternoon. We want to know how much for taxes we have to pay soon as possible, and get it over with. We sure made no money on rentals last year, but did on the sales at least.

Good morning, diligent invisipeeps, keeping your lives tamed. Welecome to Tuesday. I hope your day is free of irritants and lets you glide through the hours. And that you enjoy a fabulous dessert if you're so inclined, or imbibe if that is your preference. I spent most of yesterday working on electronic files, getting together a large-ish order from my website. I did no Cyber Monday shopping, which surprises me; I had planned to. Need to think of what to get DH, and also what I want to receive. We could, of course, not exchange gifts but I like the giving and getting, too. I did get my extended family's Bombas socks, so we're good there. I do need to think of something to send DS in Denver. Today's plans include expelling some cardboard to the recycling center and clearing away the last of Thnksgiving china and silver. I should wash the kitchen floor, too, but I probably won't. Instead I'll look for a W2 job, just to see what's out there. It was cold but not painful at all yesterday at the beach. We had a wildly high full moon tide. The tiny dinosaurs rode the wind, staying in place 15 feet up, gliding:

I am SO FREAKING TIRED of coughing constantly! It has been going on for 2 weeks. I had a cold, when it started. I plan on calling the clinic, where my PCP works at 8am, to see if I can get in to see someone tomorrow, as a 'sick, walk in' appt. I'm not thrilled to see a different doctor, because they always ask a bunch of questions, that don't pertain to the reason I'm there. And I keep thinking that they're not going to give me anything, or do anything for me. Except tell me to drink lots of fluids and get some rest. But desperation is setting in. Sometimes I get coughing so much, I can't even get a grasp of air. And tonight I was coughing so hard, I threw up. Yuck. Neither Coricidin HBP, or Mucinex is helping.
I'm over it. I just want it to stop.
HAPPY TUESDAY!

Ack, I am still having speed and conciseness issues. I just email this as a precaution, until I get into our employee hour logging system and see what she has requested. Thinking off the cuff while waking up while sick, so ... I sent this out TMI in case MoonShadow and other crap derail me b4 they open.
So point out my flaws in the below. But way better if someone has good boilerplate for crazy situations, that would be very helpful
))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Boss name and rest of my coworkers,
I will be out sick today. Did not hit my needed 4or more hours of sleep last night, but i am close. I am improving.
I have to tow my non driveable BMW back to my parking spot in the short term. I will aim for right when they open. as I am waking up, maybe 7AM at the body shop in NJ town (Thurs AM and AAA call to pick the car up and possibly me soon after.
Details to be worked.
Do not have in person's doctor's appointment arranged yet; required for me to get flu test. Required by Summit Health to treat me for flu!
Emoji
Much calling and begging required for me to get a rider ther and back because my doctor is not on the bus line. Working on that as well. Emailing this now b4 I get into Paylocity, so you know the basics of now.
Not in today.
In tomorrow?
Hopefully not in Thursday AM to tow car to my parking spot. Hopefully that part is complete around when we open at business new acrounm.

Your boss needs none of that. At best, it will irritate her to have to read an essay about your personal life to find out when you’ll be out of work. At worst, it gives her unnecessary ammo to use against you later.
“Dear boss—I’m not feeling well and unfortunately won’t be in today. Apologies for any inconvenience this might cause. I’ll keep you posted.”

Over the past few weeks we've spent time confirming plans with one of our nieces. We bought tickets for a Christmas show. Anyway I go to download the tickets to my phone and we've got 4 not 3. I hope MIL put the date on her calendar when we bought them. She was supposed to be the 4th. I called DH but of course his phone ringer is off.
