Good morning and welcome to Sunday, Cyber Monday eve, you beautiful people. I hope your day is rewarding in the best sense of the word. Today will be another cold one. It's 25 degrees out right now. I must get my heated gloves out and charge them up. It's time. My home, built in 1950, has radiators which make it cozy. Winter is getting here. I need to put away the scarecrow decoration and pull out the wreath. Will take out the tree some day this week. It's only 4 1/2' high, just right for us. I'm planning on decorating a little most days rather than one big push. Yesterday was a fine day. It always is when I see DSis. We talked and laughed and laughed some more. To quote Jackie Gleason, how sweet it is! The sunrise yesterday, too, was lovely in the cold. Here are Brants swimming by the sun as it just begins to break the horizon.

Couldn't sleep so I took dh's phone to finish getting his photos from 2021. Now I'm debating just straight splitting our 2021 album into 2 books.
Also grabbed a couple of his pictures of us from 2023 to do Christmas cards. Get those ordered today, take gift inventory, and try to get finished up.

Just finished loading the dehydrator with venison for jerky. Had intended to put it on last night while we slept, but with my pissy attitude and needing to go back to bed yesterday morning I didn't make the marinade until last night.

I love that we have pics on phone and computer but always thinking they will disappear from site and program changes over the years. I love that we have photos from early 1900s and can look at them.

Meh. I hemmed and hawed and I missed some good sales. DH got me a joanne's GC for St. Nicks last year. I found it while I was cleaning off our mantle. Which frankly, was not a high lift.

My ex BIL and his wife used to bring their dogs to everything and the one was dangerous. He was a big dog and a fear biter and not well socialized rescues (despite them taking them everywhere as adults). He would sit on the steps and growl at people going by and there were so many kids. If you tried to tell them to lock them in a bedroom or a horse stall they would get all offended that "their" children were discriminated against while everyone else's could run amok. I guess I'm kind of a hard-ass. You bring your dog to my place without an invitation, unless it's a pocket dog it gets sent to my fenced-in yard. Sucks to be you if they don't like it, but hey, my house, my rules. Why are pocket dogs acceptable and not others? The pocket dogs that are babied tend to be the worst behaved.

And I should be doing all the things. I am a little meh. Or maybe a lot, since I've meh'ed twice in less than an hour.

Found a bit done by Stephen Colbert in his show, that made me laugh. CG2 will probably see this, but someone can tag her or PM because I think this is hysterical.
It starts I think right b4 the news of Ozempic and the fake commercial created for the show.

HB Andi, actual date in the month 25 or 24? (I don't know what day it is. I survived work and was useful enough this last 1 and a half working days. Off tomorrow and then back to work all day for Cyber monday. I think it is the 26th now here in NJ. The 25th.

Yuck. We got a few inches of snow. Not enough to complain about normally, but I'm driving DS home this morning, so it's enough to make the roads slick. I'm hoping once I get off the ridge and into the valley, it will look better than it does here.

Wow that must be easy to remember and inconvenient because of when Thanksgiving and Christmas fall. <--- Warning stream of conciousness, do not read below this line if you have issues with your day of birth, etc. My day is 23. I asked for the Earth to pick a lane, sometimes on my birthday sometimes before etc. So I personally am glad that the Earth got reasonable and admitted it was older than me, but it kind of sucks now because I used to go to nature reserves and walk around etc. for my birthday. Its harder to time the crowds now.
My service date for my first FT job out of college was the 25th of June. Its emblazoned on my soul right after remembering my own date of birth.

I am trying to stop some of the gift giving too. The kids need nothing. But we have to get something for DD and for grandson. It is almost impossible to find things any of us need. As son said what do we do exchange money or gift cards? It is all a commercial push, we realize that, but to break that habit is a hard one. Like grandson was thinking a metal detector might be fun. Wouldn't you know, he already has one, sigh. Our homes are stuffed, its a waste of money yet we just keep doing it. Maybe we can change some of that this year. Way late, I need to go to bed. I can't find my gas ex and boy do I need it tonight, burping, belching, and farts. If isn't one silly thing with me its another. Grandson is old enough to understand experiences as gifts. Is there a local zoo, science center, etc that you could get tickets to?

We've been to several zoos, and the Portland Zoo is by far our favorite.

Good church service over Zoom today. Recorded sermon closed with a poet who lived in the Seattle area. Even featured Paul Tilleck Lutheran theologian. So some googling in my future.
But first to identify what could be lunch. Road ttip to get groceries TBD soon.

azucena I had not heard the statement about anger as an easy emotion, but that really spoke to me. I think I need to kick in for your therapist too.

Fixed breakfast while laundry was churning, it's now dried and folded. Mopped the floors and scrubbed down the kitchen. We're going to Aldi after lunch. I have part of the week's menus figured out - need to finish that off. I feel sloth-dom coming on this afternoon - probably binge watching 90 Day Fiancee

I like to do unique things if I can for Christmas.
This year I framed my grandfather's honorary discharge certificate for Bob. I know it'll mean something to him.
Back in 2021 I got my dad a ton of various fast food gift cards because he was running around dealing with grandma and GU. That way he could grab something on the go and not worry about expense.
I used to get my mom things she'd want but never buy herself like a really nice anti aging serum. Yes she specifically named the brand so it was safe.😉
This year I went to Etsy and ordered DH a custom flannel that says Where I Go My Dog Goes.
When I'm in the mood gift giving can be one of my love languages.

I have even wrapped small gifts to put in the stocking so the kids had something to unwrap when they were younger.

I consider Christmas to be more personal and for giving the gifts that people want but don't want to spend/ waste the money on the themselves.

My pumpkin pie is baking at present.
The food I got was very good but the casserole was much too big for one person. I should have frozen half of it. Live and learn.
I also got one one of the individual sized casseroles I bought. Hopefully that tastes good. I didn't see the option for a single serving for the green bean casserole. I'm guessing that is because it was Thanksgiving. For this week's recipes (I am not buying any), there is a single serving for casserole of the week.
I will be taking Amelia to the vet tomorrow. She's having a flare of stomatitis. It's a disease that has no cure. Vet said last time she is in the early stages and we don't need to talk about the end of her life any time soon. She pretty miserable at the moment.
She is so fat that I have to call them to come to the car and help me bring her in. She binges and purges the weight loss food, so I need to talk to him about that. At least I don't have any more on order.

Speaking of gifts the dang Uggs showed up today. In a labeled box. Which Gwen spotted from 10 feet.
I let her open them. I needed to know if they fit anyhow so I could exchange. This version is in high demand so probably better to check before they all sold out again.
And I'm currently the best mom.🥰

It's funny how gift giving changes as the kids get older, spent some of this morning telling DD11 she couldn't order something online with her own money. Finally, dd15 said dummy that means Santa (air quotes) already bought it.

Thx for the offers of chipping in for therapy. My health insurance is unbelievably good and includes mental health with no deductible or copay. Makes it a no brainer for all 4 of us to use it regularly and part of the reason that I kept putting up with my butthead boss.

I told Gwen she'd have less to open if I gave them to her now.
She said it's fine. She just doesn't want like two lip glosses and one sock and that's it on Christmas.
So guess what my smart ass is going to be putting in a gift bag under the tree? 🤣

It is dry. My poor cut out cookie dough was awful to work with. I think they will be OK.Or at least nothing that frosting and an inch of sprinkles won't fix. I'll probably try again next weekend.
