My maternal grandfather would cut the turkey at the table according to my mom.
Paternal grandma didn't.
I thought about it but we didn't have room on the table. Breaking it down on the kitchen counter made more sense.

Baked chicken legs were good, bread dressing was good. Cake in our future. Early bedtime too.
I'm glad for the good food and family and friends that many of you shared with today. For those celebrating Black Friday tomorrow, happy deal hunting!

I am so full... We had a 23 and a 20 pound turkey and they are mostly cleaned up. Our family takes it all off the bone and serves it in a roaster with all the juices from the pan rather than carving the bird at the table. I have a full pan of potatoes left because there were three other options for potatoes and my aunt sent me home with a lot of leftovers, including two almost full pies. There were 12 pies and they probably only ate 7 of them. I'm going to be serving potatoes and pie for every meal this weekend. Neither kid is going to be home tonight, so I'm going to just get chores done and veg out watching Netflix.
I don't think I have ever seen a turkey carved at the head table. is that seriously a thing, other than what I've seen in the movies? Yes, I know lots of people that do it. My ex's family always does. It's just part of their ritual along with saying grace and/or going around the table and saying what you're thankful for. They carve it and fill a platter, then move the bird to a side buffet table so it's out of the way. Our family is too big (typically 30-40 people). More than one person makes a turkey and brings it so easier to do the dumping together in roasters method. Plus everyone is seated at multiple tables all over and if they're at my aunts like today they're on different floors of the house, so food is just a buffet set up in the kitchen, not family style at the table.

Dad said L enjoyed Thanksgiving. I said good I was trying to make her feel welcome.
And I was attempting to show off a bit.
I don't really count last year I was a mess. This year I put on my hostess hat and allowed Gwen to unleash her inner interior designer.
I tell you ordering the big things like the turkey and making some sides is the way to go. $119 to feed 8. Turkey, rolls, gravy, potatoes and two sides.
Would have cost me more to cook it all from scratch.
WAY less stressful and I can get everything done the day before. Day of throw it in the oven to reheat and enjoy the parade on TV.

My little dog just had her millionth conference of the day with the neighborhood dogs. My theory is they're trying to figure out why everyone had turkey on the same day.

I was tired and feeling bad all over again. I took 2 more Backaid pills and took a nap. I had baked the rolls and after the nap made the pineapple upside down cake. I just ate a piece, was good. Hubs fixed dinner for he and DD, I just heated up some green beans, that was it. I may have some more.
I did manage to vac our bedroom, bathroom, and closet, just too much cat hair. Than took a shower and washed my hair. I look awful, sweats on, dark under my eyes, hair a mess. At least I feel cleaner now. And I need to dry and put away a load of clothes.
I hope to sweep the rest of the house tomorrow. I read second shot of shingles vaccine can have more side effects and I've had every one listed. Next time will read that. But 2 or 3 days and I will be fine.
May do 2 more months of recons and get those entered.
May go to bed early tonight. I thought I yelled and hollered all night last night but hubs said he didn't hear me. I was dreaming, think it had to do with Gotham we have been watching and all the weird characters on it. But what a night, LOL! My baby is snuggled up next to me again. This morning he kept sniffing me and laying beside me, love that little cat. When I go to the bathroom, he jumps up on the toilet tank, than will purr in my ear or meow at me, he is a little talker..

I've been finish-finishing projects. There's room for DD's BF on the couch now. And there's room now to set things down on our side table.

Sugar coma this morning, turkey coma tonight. Everything was quite good, we didn’t eat half the turkey, TD cut up 3 thighs and there were 6 thighs and a breast he did on the grill. I used my ricer for the potatoes…..sooo good. I need a break before pie.

I was up extra early this morning taking out the garbage. I managed to crisp up a batch of cinnamon rolls, then found out that there is a colony of otters in my canal! I couldn't figure out what type of animal was playing off the dock across from me and had to grab the glasses and phone. They are adorable and I am so chuffed that I saw them this morning.
I found my door wreath and small tree which I had to restring with lights. Also got lights around the front door, holiday and winter theme pictures were also brought out and placed around the house.
Happy to read that most had a decent day.

Woke up early, about an hour ago. Stressed out and sick so unlikely I'll sleep b4 my alarm goes off in under an hour so here I am. Did not prepack my tote last night for work because I had an unfortunate phone call with YS. She worked TG day and the day b4 Thanksgiving, so the two busiest days for alcohol and was exhausted.
I am now only sleeping 4 hours at best and maybe only 2 to 4 hours at night on my worst night this week. This is crash and burn territory for me, so it is dangerous to show up at work but since I am still new to my manager it is also dangerous not to. So I promised I would definitely be in so I will keep that promise. I will leave at lunchtime if I get in a bad way like I was on Monday.
Moonshadow has had his Vitamin C crunchy and his pellets for the morning. Will top up his water and put in some hay before I leave to walk to the bus station. Of course the temps have crashed and it will be below freezing for real while I wait. This stop does at least have a shelter, so that is one plus.
Need to order groceries ASAR aka as soon as reasonable. There are two day specials I want and physically I don't think I should try to add in a 1/2 mile or 1 mile round trip walk to my day today. Or sacrifice my lunch hour since I am so marginal as it is. I will hope it will be dead , but it is BF and we were closed, closed OMG on TG day so who knows?

Good morning and welcome to (Black) Friday, Y Ma'am invisipeeps, enjoying time off for good behavior. I hope your day is smooth and easy. You have earned this day of rest. Yesterday was wonderful. I am so happy to see family gathered here including 3 small children who got their ya yas out running in the large park across the street. The turkey was done hours early, so it rested and was delicious. I have one whole pie left over and half a cake. We feasted well, talked and talked and feasted more. Perfect. The sun rose yesterday morning unobscured by clouds. Before dawn, flocks of tiny dinosaurs danced in the sky and on the water, grateful to not be turkeys.

Need to get moving. I'm picking up niece and nephew for a day of fun so their mom can shop. Besides stocking stuffers I'm mostly cash for Christmas. I do buy for DH and this year DS requested a heated jacket, which Amazon had as BF deal earlier in the week so that is done. Rest will be cash or gift cards.

Last night, I got my recons all ready through Oct, will have to put in manually I don't have the check writing function for no more than I write. The volume is way way down as we sold properties.
I am better today, have fatigue. The one really bad site is a very swollen, hot arm, just part of it.
I have frozen rolls that make cinnamon rolls and could do those. But think I will just let us finish the cake first. l We had a snack for breakfast. DD yogurt and strawberry milk, hubs his usual corn flakes, with nuts, honey, and raisins. Me a banana and cup of coffee, yeah, broke down and had one. I may also have a blueberry yogurt with pecans, yummy.
Nothing else going on. We are watching about the Israeli prisoner release.
I may end up with a nap.

I'm having a veggie burger for breakfast, before packing up the pups to go for a walk. I'm going to open some windows to air out the kitchen while we are out. it definitely smells like I fried all the things in here yesterday lol...

Thanksgiving went really well. I'm about to enter a food coma. Dad fed Charlotte a stupid amount of turkey. She's cool with him now even let him pet her. Wilbur has no idea what Thanksgiving is but food! My chess pie came out I am pretty happy about that. The turkey was really good considering it came cooked already. Very juicy unlike grandma's super dry bird. No drama. Archie was a bit of a pill but we occupied him with the peppa pig van. That's how I won over my cousin's dog. He went from barking at me to laying his head in my lap. I'm not above bribery.

Got my black Friday shopping done. I booked a cruise to Hawaii for DH and I in January. We like to think we are easy to shop for!

I had a piece of pumpkin pie for breakfast. I should get up and shower. We're going black Friday shopping soon. After this my wallet is closing for a while. I did get a bunch of deals though. Some things were needed and some were not.

I need to get moving. I have a massage booked today, then I might round out the pampering with a mani/pedi afterwards. I’d like to get a workout in first, but that means I need to get off the couch get to it.

I'm about to go to a website that is in French to buy the Toddler clothes for Christmas. That what his mom says he needs. I agree with her that he has too many toys and electronics and doesn't need more so please don't buy more. I will abide by her wishes but I know my sister will say it's not Christmas without toys.
She also complains that they didn't get rid of his 1 year old toy blocks that he has now assigned numbers to and uses them in his math games. It makes it hard on the parents because only he knows the number of the blocks. Sometimes he switches up on them.

The last of my 3 loads of laundry is in the dryer, and DH will run the sheets after lunch. The toilets are scrubbed and I've gathered up the autumn decorations so I can begin wrapping and stowing them in bins this afternoon. I hope to get both Halloween and autumn (two trips - I like pumpkins and ghouls )to the storage locker tomorrow and bring back some of the Christmas. I'll run by Aldi this afternoon. Dinner is shrimp scampi-ish and steamed broccoli.

Mister’s dinner turned out to be delicious. He also cooked 2 sweet potato pies and a peach cobbler. He’d never cooked either before. That’s how I knew he was in his feelings, his Mom was known for her desserts. Her peach cobblers always got gobbled up almost immediately. So he wanted to bake something to remind him of her. The dinner part was mostly an afterthought lol.
We didn’t have any company, which was fine with us. My children and grandchildren went to their Dad’s parents’ house yesterday. Their Dad was there, idk who else. DS was reluctant to go, because of the way they have treated him, and he doesn’t really fool with his Dad either. He really only went because DD practically begged him to, so she’d have an ally, because she’s not always really comfortable around their grandparents anymore either. DS said it went well, so that’s good.
After Mister and I ate dinner, we somehow ended up watching the Wizard of Oz, of all things. YD got back home around 12:30, and Boy had a fit when he heard her, which woke us up. He would not stop barking until Mister got up and opened the bedroom door so Boy could go investigate. Once Boy realized it was her and not a stranger, he came on back to our bedroom and went back to bed. I’m going to tell YD that when she comes home after we’ve gone to bed and Boy is barking, she needs to say something so he will know it’s her and stop barking. I don’t think 12:30 is too late for her to come home, and I don’t think Boy is being a bad dog for barking when he hears somebody coming in the house, but something needs to happen so he doesn’t go on and on because he doesn’t know who it is.

I picked up a few Amazon Black Friday things. I've got a grocery pickup in a little bit, then I'll be in for the day. Been snacking on turkey all morning, so I guess I'll make a slider with leftover rolls at lunch.

Waiting for my niece to get here so we can go shopping. I'm hoping Rally House has a black Friday sale. I want to get an Isiah Pacheco jersey, but I'm too cheap to pay $130 for it.

I need to put an order into Ulta today. They have my face wash on sale, and I only have one bottle remaining.
As soon as we get coffee in us, and dressed, we are making a run across the border for dim sum.
