my mom told me about this when I called her on my drive home from getting my phone fixed. I hadn't heard about it at all. but pretty much all of my FB memories this morning were around how my sister and I did a whirlwind trip up to see Memere because the aunts had my dad convinced that she wasn't surviving the weekend. we got there and she was fine enough to give my sister shit b/c her by-then DH hadn't been up to meet her yet. lol.... Memere lived another almost 4y. sis and I both said shit, I'm glad none of us are travelling this year. yeesh.

Will that allow me to open the door a crack (while it's still locked) when I ask for ID?

Yeah, whoever was in it accelerated when asked to go to a secondary inspection, and that's when it exploded. The FBI and the RCMP are on it.

Spent the day running around getting things done and then cleaning things in the house that no one will care about but me. Just learned that a girl in my graduating high school class buried her dad today. Priorities reset. Done for the day, showered, and Hallmark Christmas movies the rest of the night for me.

Someone talk to me about Hulu?what shows/movies do they have that are worth watching? They have a Black Friday (BF) deal of 12 months @$0.99/month and I might be interested. I really wanted to add Britbox but their deal is $10/3 months. Nice but I'll be gone for almost two of those months so that is not going to happen? Any other good streaming deals out there that you know of? I watched Masked Singer, DWTS, 9-1-1 (both the original and Lonestar), Grey's Anatomy, and a bunch of movies. I'd do it.

Im.still waiting for family pictures. We took them on 10/14. I really thought I'd have them in time to get Christmas cards out "early" this year.
I asked our photographer for status at 3 weeks and she thought 1 more week which I knew wouldn't happen. I figure I'll wait till Monday and reach out again. That'll be 6 weeks.
Photographer is a coworker of dh's and we didn't know it when we asked about doing pictures but she's been through absolute hell. I don't want to not be supportive of what she's going through, but also get an idea if I need to give up on getting these for Christmas cards.

Picked up the food from Hyvee.
Got the Watergate salad made. Sweet potatoes are almost done. Gwen is finishing the fruit salad. I made cranberry sauce this morning.
She's making pumpkin pie. I attempted a chess pie using brown butter.
I'm pooped.

All done except cake is in oven and decided to do stuffing tomorrow to avert food poisoning. Now I need to dust, vacuum, clean bathroom, do dishes and take a shower. Will do icing later, too; am thinking ganache.
I've told people around 2:00 tomorrow would be good. ODB will be here very early, though, to start turkey. Should be a fine day. At least, I hope.

The pecan pie is no longer whole. It's just the two of us, so it doesn't matter. DH is taking a nap, but I suspect the pumpkin pie will be started on before sundown.

Grrrrr......
So it doesn't really matter too much about not getting the travel insurance because I can't get our flight itinerary from Singapore Air. We had copies of our passport on file with the consolidator that we use, but last year I renewed my passport, so the new passport wasn't on file. New pics of passport sent, hopefully our flight reservations have not disappeared into thin air or I am going to be most unhappy.
Took off to mail a package, and ran by Costco to gas up. Costco still runs about $1 less/gallon, so it's really worth the trip. I passed 2 Fred Meyers and a Whole Paycheck. Parking lots were utter zoos, glad I made no plans to go today. Costco's gas bar was nearly empty, even though Costco was a mess too. Many Canadian cars in the lot, they're probably regretting not waiting until the weekend!

They're saying it could not have been a terrorist attack because the car was a Bentley.

Grabbing a short break after fixing dinner, finishing up on Thanksgiving prep, and sweeping the floors.
I plan to do as little as possible tomorrow - read the papers, start cooking the turkey early (so the sides can go in later when we are ready to actually eat), maybe throw in a load of laundry. Pull out the holiday decorations and decide how to use them.

Dressing made and refrigerated. Stock for gravy stashed. Cinnamon rolls for breakfast tomorrow are rising. Rolls for dinner being made. Cranberry relish made. All that’s left is to peel potatoes and get them in water, and clean green beans.
TD’s doing pies when he gets home from work. Hopefully, by then all the dinner prep is over and he doesn’t need to trip over people working in the kitchen.
Dinner tonight is pizza. Take out.

Picked up my food for tomorrow.
DN3 called to let me know they have had an offer accepted to buy a house, but it's contingent on selling their current house. That listing goes live on Monday. I might be getting my basement back.

Today has been difficult. I didn’t even want to get out of bed, but I forced myself to. Then I went back to bed about an hour later because my stomach was hurting. I had to get back out of bed because Mister had sent a text saying the groceries would be ready for pickup, between 2 and 3pm. Which meant I was supposed to pick them up, since he is still at work during that time and today was my day off work. I managed to do enough laundry to have things together for my work week that starts tomorrow. I still did not shampoo my hair. I ended up cooking pasta Fagioli (sp?) soup and garlic bread for dinner. I didn’t want to cook, but I gotta eat. He is trying to be nice to me, and keeps asking me what I need. What I really need is to not waste any more of my time with a fucking asshole. But I don’t say that, I just say idk. The only thing I know to do right now is focus on me, at least enough to be able to go to work and get my money, so I can build my war chest, as Laterbloomer called it. I am not interested in further discussions with him, or really anything concerning him. I am concerned about me, myself and I. I have an appointment later this month with my unreliable counselor. Idc if the appointment actually happens or not. I am over therapy too. I wouldn’t be crazy if people would just stop playing with me, including so called “professionals” in the medical community. I’m just not even close to being in a good place right now. But I won’t be here forever, and eventually I WILL get to a better place mentally. I am sure of that. That’s pretty much all I have to hold on to, while I work through trying to get there. I’m wondering if before you got sick and missed so much work — Did you always buy the groceries or pick them up? I noticed that Mister didn’t ask you if you could pick up the groceries before he placed the order. He just expected that you would. My XH also called me a gold digger and it wasn’t because he had anything when we got together. We sat on floor pillows because he didn’t have any living room furniture. It was partly grief and partly upset that things weren’t the way they were before. I wasn’t working because I was dealing with health issues and setting up a non profit organization. That wasn’t enough for him. After my Mom passed away, my Dad wanted so much for everything to be the same that he paid to restart her business. Never mind that she had no customers and still had cases of product stacked in the garage. I wonder is Mister aware that you ran out of PTO? I think the comments about gold digging by my XH and Mister aren’t referring to getting together but about the current situation. We both bought groceries. He usually only bought them when the teens were coming over, to make sure they had the kind of food they like. The grocery thing that day, had a back story in a prior post, and I felt like he was being ugly making it for pickup at the time he did. Yes, he knew when I ran out of PTO. But he also knows I started using my savings instead of asking him for money for my personal expenses. I also still paid the cable/internet bill, he did have to start paying the bill for electricity, gas and water though.

Kiddo loves to run the kitchenaid mixer so we got the frosting made. I did have to shoo her out of the kitchen while I frosted the cake. I wasn't going fast enough to suit her because she wanted to lick the bowl. I sent her to the living room until I was done. I left her enough in the bowl for a nice little spoonful so she was happy.

Mister ended up deciding to cook Thanksgiving dinner. The menu is kind of haphazard, but I don’t care since this is his thing and last minute. He is all over the place, because this is not like the first time we had our own Thanksgiving dinner a couple years before we moved here. That was our choice (and I cooked, with my Mom telling me what to do and helping), now we have no choice but to have our own traditions.
When I got home from work, he’d already started cooking.
Speaking of getting hime from work, it took an hour and 20 minutes to get home this evening, when it usually takes between 30-40 minutes. It takes up to 40 minutes now, because due to my “new” work hours, I run into traffic at a certain point in weekdays. It took so long today because there was a multi car accident on the expressway. I didn’t count them, but there were at least 10 cars involved, and 2 or 3 lanes of traffic blocked/closed. The worst part was that I was stuck on the flyover that terrifies me even on a good day, for about 20 minutes. By the time I saw that cars were sitting still in it, it was too late for me to take another route. I was a nervous wreck the whole time I was stuck in it.
I finally made it home, and almost immediately fixed an adult beverage. Mister does not expect me to help him cook, which is good because I don’t feel like it and I don’t want to. I did unload the dishwasher before I sat down though, in case he was inclined to clean as he goes. If not, I might load it before I go to bed. I don’t mind doing that when he does the cooking.

Hi Kids! I just got back from Target. Not by choice, but of course no one told me we were getting too low on dishwasher soap & garbage bags. You can't get through Thanksgiving weekend without a lot of both, and I'm not planning on going out on Black Friday.

Pink, I agree with you on the grocery pick up. Its basically saying he thinks groceries are your job. Its one thing for you to have made that agreement, but it reads as if you two have fallen into various roles over time.

So glad I pre-made dinner for tonight yesterday, I was BEAT when we got home. Not sure why. I mean, it was 5 hours of driving, but I do that a lot and we went to the zoo, but only did about half of it because stepmom was having a hard time. It just seemed like a really long day. I'm blaming in on my 8 year old ADHD nephew being along.

No the backstory I referred to was that the night before, I asked if he had completed the order he’d asked me to start a few days before. He said no, he needed to look at his bank account, and I called bullshit on that, because I knew he had plenty of money. He was basically playing crazy, and I guess didn’t expect me to call him in it. But I did, so he completed the order and made the pickup time at a time he would still be at work and I’d have to pick it up.

I was going to tell you to tell him to change the time so he can pick them up. Then I remembered I am twice divorced. Don't take relationship advice from me. Unless you're looking to get out.
