maybe if we added a bunch of ice too down here…but then you have turkey germs all over the cooler and a waste disposal problem with the brine There’s a reason I never got into the process side of things I’m not actually sure the damn thing would fit into our cooler, it was too tall to defrost it in the sink. d*** kid demanding the biggest on everything. d*** me for not putting my foot down. ETA The Walk of the Penguin Mich posted at the same time I did and I’m pretty sure one of us owes the other a Coke Mich covered the waste disposal, but I will say that using this cooler limited me to about 14lb max. I had a full-sized refrigerator in the basement in the last house, so I went bigger there a couple times. I have a huge stockpot/lobster pot that can hold larger. I don't know how big I *could* go, but it handled a 16lb bird with room to spare. I think we had a 28 lb bird that I did in the cooler….or ice chest. My dad got the biggest bird he could find, and I think that year I was cooking for 15.

I've been trying to get caught up on the thread and am about to give up.
But I wanted to whine. Dh hasn't been to the dentist since high-school - best case scenario. I tried everything I could think of to get him to go and eventually gave up. Today we get to spend $3k on emergency dental work for him. I won't tell him I told him so, but dammit I told him so. He's also talking braces now and that has to wait. Sorry.
In better news I picked up another client. They're saying they can send me 2-4 loans a month which probably means 1-2 but I'll take it. If I get licensed in Texas they have a lot more business too.

I’m going to hate seeing my bills come in next month. Last night, I got notice from Briggs and Riley that they have 30% off. My very well used Victornox bag that I bought at Tuesday Morning back in 2000 has pretty much bit the dust. This was my 22” carry on, that I use for trips up to about a month. If I could, I’d replace it with the exact same model. That bag was an absolute workhorse. It was used and abused for 23 years, including the monthly back and forth I used to do to WA. But it is no longer available, and this bag is probably the closest I’ve found. It also has a lifetime warranty. Fingers crossed it’s what I think it is when it arrives. I hate buying things like this online. You travel enough that you can justify (within reason), purchasing just about any bag you desire. My family is spoiled. DD is in the travel industry. When she first started working for an airline she asked me to buy an Away bag on one of their "sales". When the pandemic hit, she asked for another one. That sale was really good. She has at least 3 away bags and another designer one she got at TJ Max. When I travel, I usually borrow one from her. DS just went on a trip a few weeks ago, and I told him he could take the one his Dad just bought, but he took one of DD's Away bags. I might think about buying him one for Christmas.

Dental visit went well. Timing to bus to back home could have been way better. I need to see an oral surgeon, But what I thought were bits of teeth was most likely parts of an old filling. Now oral surgeon ... because the problem has been there so long, when IDK? My current guess is between 2018 and 2021 but I am not sure, So the tooth has rotted enough it needs to be extracted. More joys of being old and underfunded but well maybe I can save up for a implant there after I get this tooth out. Made an appointment for to get one filling replaced and my 6 month cleaning. So now to call oral surgeon suggestions and go from there. I beg the dental and scheduling gods to be kind to me. I suppose once the tooth gets out, I can eat more normally again.

Love the bracelet, Opti . That's something I would be willing to wear, and I don't wear bracelets very often. DH was supposed to have his last day of vacation today, but things got so chaotic at work that he got called in. Oh well, we did get a lot accomplished while he was home. Thanks, I used to wear cheap rings to my old job to fit in. Sometimes the occasional bracelet. Because of the physical demands and potential mishaps bracelets are the best choice for now. I like my hair long and I have no necklaces really to wear nor do I really want to. I was blessed/cursed with a big chest, so I don't want yet another thing to point to the fact I am a woman with a bigger than average chest. It's obvious enough and I want to cut down customer leers and leans into my space anyway. Minor rant over. Glad DH got stuff done. I actually lucked out and boss was able to get coverage for me being out, so I will be back at work on Friday.

My Land's End carry on was a workhorse and sometimes I curse myself for letting my XBF, almost financee talking me into trading it for a fashion brand from Macys. But the main circle zipper was broken and Lands' end hasn't made anything like it in decades. Had an outside pocket for plane tix. And an outside zipper pocket in addition to the main compartment. It was soft side so weight was not bad. And it had a carry strap so if you had to race across an airport or lug it on small boats and planes, it worked very well. I like the spinners, but they are heavier and just not as flexible as that was. Let us know what you replace it with and how it performs in your next round of travels.

Babysitter here, back at work and three hours and counting till I can settle in on the pies, stuffing, and adult beverages.

In fairness, I hadn’t been since before DS was born. I kinda figure I got off easy with the amount of work I needed done this summer

Someone talk to me about Hulu?what shows/movies do they have that are worth watching? They have a Black Friday (BF) deal of 12 months @$0.99/month and I might be interested.
I really wanted to add Britbox but their deal is $10/3 months. Nice but I'll be gone for almost two of those months so that is not going to happen?
Any other good streaming deals out there that you know of?

I had a Tumi travel backpack I used for travel, and it ripped. Hell, even the backpacks I used in college and crammed heavy textbooks in never ripped like this. I replaced it several years ago with a (cheaper) NorthFace, which had better pockets for organization. The Tumi backpack was heavier, and uncomfortable on the shoulders.

At work not really wanting to work. I'm tired from a foster cat staying in my room and being a complete and utter twat. Tonight I have to take one of my cats to the vet for her yearly shots then after I her at home, I have to brave the grocery store for cat food for another foster. THAT twat will only eat ONE brand of dry food. Jeez. Good thing I like her in spite of her biting.

(An infected tooth can lead to the infection going throughout his entire body.) I get it, I'm married too, and sometimes they are so "thick" when it comes to common-sense maintenance of the human body.

I'm amazed at the number of people who ignore their teeth. I wish I had a dime for everyone who has come onto my hip group and has whined that they can't get a replacement until they get clearance from a dentist and the dentist won't clear them because they need a LOT of work done in their mouth.
FWIW, my dentist has actually infected a joint replacement. The ADA and the AAOS goes back and forth about this and flip flops every time they converge to discuss this. The statement has now flipped the other way, for prophylactic antibiotics! Anyway, when my dentist infected this guy, he discussed this with the surgeon and the surgeon told him that the most recent statement said it was unnecessary. Fast forward a couple months, this guy went through the same madness I dealt with. So as a result, I don't get touched unless I have antibiotics on board.
In dental research, there is soooo much that affects your general health. Bad diabetes and can't get your sugars under control? Shown. Heart disease exacerbated? Yep, shown as well. Preterm birth? Yep. And before I get off the dental bandwagon, the cause of more school days missed than any other is tooth pain.

It's been a hot minute since I stopped Hulu but it had a lot of the older shows - golden girls, fresh prince, Frasier, etc that I liked. Also The Handmaids Tale which should release its final season "soon".

I'm annoyed af at dh because we've had the funds and time and I've even offered to make appointments etc. But I'm not surprised in general that people avoid the dentist. It's expensive, painful, embarrassing, the insurance options are crap and theres a sales pitch vibe to it that can be really icky.

Grrrr.......anyone have a wet noodle I can use? I need to flay TD with it. This is the only legwork he has to do, I do everything else. I am trying to get the visa information in the mail. Last night, I dragged him downtown to get passport photos taken. About a month ago, I mentioned to him that Vietnam requires that we have proof of overseas medical insurance before receiving a visa, so he was going to contact that person he gets our insurance from. As of this morning, he has not contacted his person. So as I'm putting the packet together (and was planning on sending it out via FedEx this afternoon), I ask him to send me the link for our policy so I can print it out to send it off. He's scrambling now, but doesn't think his person will get it to him before next week. This is not getting sent out today, which means we are going to need to pay for expedited service. The check I need to write has just gone up by $200.

Survived the interstate with DD15 driving. She did it for the first time last weekend with paid instructor.
Picked up another teen. They've decided to make cobbler so I'm sitting in aldi parking lot while they have my credit card. Couldn't pay me to go in a store today but they likely won't even notice the chaos.

I told the super that if he doesn't fix the front door in the lobby, I want a chain for my front door. I want the chain anyway, after that Not From Bell Telephone guy knocked on my door. I opened the door, but I didn't let him in. With a chain, I could ask him to slip me some sort of ID, before I open any door. The lobby door is broken, and anybody can just walk in. I told the super that I don't feel safe. I have a pair of Simon's huge shoes outside my apartment door, so miscreants will think that a big man lives here, and a just a helpless old woman.

Someone asked were my kitties fixed. Every animal I get is fixed, always. So that is not Smokes issue, I think during covid he just became attached to us and did not get socialized at all. But I thought he would get better and has not.
I got my errands done, everyplace of course was absolutely packed. Got them done just slower.
The pharmacy at Walmart wasn't bad so I got my last vaccination, my second shingles shot. I asked about hubs. He needs to go get it quick. The pharmacist said if he starts chemo it gets a lot more complicated. Like me the last one he needs for now. We haven't gotten his results yet, they told him should be on the patient portal this afternoon.
I did pick up a small turkey breast roast, 3 pounds and put it in the freezer. I will have it with dressing and noodles one day in the spring.
Also bought some fresh green beans, need to break and cook those. I LOVE green beans, especially fresh.
It's 44 out, pretty durn cool, but comfy and cozy in here.
I think I will let the Rhodes rolls rise and bake them tonight, make my pineapple upside down cake too. Made mac and cheese last night, will likely add it to our dinner. Those rolls are as close to home made as I can find.
Oh, and our grocer does sell slices of pie, they were not very big and $1.99 each!

I’ve been to Walmart twice today and once to Aldi. One of the Walmart trips was this morning by myself. Around lunchtime was another Walmart trip and Aldi with DD1. DH left a couple of minutes ago to back to Aldi for another block of cream cheese for tomorrow. I realized I had enjoy for a single recipe of crab dip while we are going to double it. DH offered to go and I wasn’t going to turn him down.

I got a very nice or appears to be Patricia Nash bag, had not heard of them before, but saw them online. I have not used it yet, its bigger than a regular bag but smaller and not as heavy as what I had to travel with. Will see how it goes on my next trip It's leather and lined inside with what appears to be suede. I like it so far. TJ Maxx gets some very nice ones at times.

Of course they bill at the real rates after that, so I would have to cancel right away, but I might do it. I have to get my Cable bill cut down, only one provider so I have to keep them for Internet. But since the TV is very dead and my bill went from about $110 to $180 in a little over a year, no service changes except the old router died and they had to give me the new Altice box. The biggest plus for this box is it takes up less room on my art supply stand.

I've been to Aldi, Walmart and 2 grocery stores today. I tried to do some of it last night but there was a big rain storm. Nothing was crazy like I expected.
Although our Aldi is never a problem since they put in 10 self check outs. It no longer takes me twice as long to check out as to get my stuff.

success! I found my custard pie. it's a full one, so I'll see how much I can work through this long weekend. it will absolutely be breakfast tomorrow morning. more success! I got a text that the replacement screen for my phone is in. so I detoured over that way, and learned something about the inner workings of my phone. and, that I picked a winner last time around as far as being a huge PITA to fix the screen for. oops. this casing is a smidge thicker than the original, which means I'm going to need to figure out a new option for a case when I buy a new one as the only reason this still fits in the old one is b/c the current is cracked on a corner to be a little more flexible. fail - I ordered a new pair of OOfos slides the other day, and they arrived while I was out. I ordered the wrong size, though. the things are listed as "Men's Slides" but the numbered sizes are actually Women's/Men's and the first number is how they are listed under "Men's Slides". these are two sizes too small. I was so excited b/c there was a narrow option, but this was the only size that offered that. bugger.

When the cake comes out of the oven the cornbread goes in. That is the last thing to bake for today. We will frost the cake later this evening.
We turned on music and Kiddo made the pumpkin pie and cake. She was over it and didn't want to make the cornbread though. DH hauled the kitchenaid mixer in and out of the pantry for us. And he washed the dishes.
Way more fun and less stressful than years past. Now to get Kiddo an afternoon snack and negotiate bath time before my sibling arrives tonight.

The chicken legs are thawing in the fridge for baking tomorrow. In a bit I'll dice the onions, celery, and mushrooms for the dressing ready to sauté in butter before going in the dressing tomorrow. He wanted spinach/artichoke dip and chips to snack on mid-day, and I'll do cheese and crackers left over from the other night.
