ATT actually got internet and TV back on at 2 p.m. vs the 9 p.m. originally anticipated so YAY for them. I did use the downtime to make myself work on the book a bit. I'm going to take the Delsym cough suppressant tonight-I skipped it last night and had several coughing spells. Overall though I feel so much better with the additional hours of sleep. Tomorrow I'm going to go for the haircut I missed today what with dealing with the internet outage, and back to the larger grocery store for a dessert portion for Thanksgiving (DH wants either a slice of pumpkin pie or of cheesecake, and I don't care which). I'd like one of each, please. Thank you. A dessert size portion? As in the whole pie? That's what it means to me! LOL I wonder if Costco has any pumpkin pies left? Maybe not likely, but a couple of years ago, they still had some after Thanksgiving, so I might go look. It will be a mad house, I'm sure. But if that's the only part of a TG dinner I get. So be it. I'm worth it! I've been considering getting a rotisserie chicken, to have instead of Turkey. That should be less than $15. And I already have Stove top, mashed potatoes, cranberries and peas. Close enough, since I'm not cooking and will be alone. I'm not trying to impress anyone. And I gave my good roasting pan to DD2, years ago. Stouffer's turkey dinners are TERRIBLE, IMO. I couldn't even make myself eat it. Although I tried a bite of mashed potatoes and gravy. Also 1 bite of stuffing. Then I made up fancy looking dishes, for DD1s dogs, with the rest. They loved it. I thought it was disgusting! Usually Stouffer's does better than that. I'd rather have a cheap hamburger from McDonald's! Sadly, no it won't be a whole pie, or even a 1/2 pie. DH and I have shown that impulse control is not one of our strengths so we will bring home 1 large slice to share. This grocery store has figured out there's a large market for single-serve desserts and offers an immense variety of items from their bakery that way.

I've been looking for half or quarter pies the past week or so, for egg custard. I don't crave sweet very often, but that just tastes like the holidays for me. I haven't seen custard pies at all, nevermind partial ones. I might have to duck in to the pricey grocery store down near M's house. they have always had custard in all the locations I've ever shopped in.

Went to dentist yesterday. Had a toothache that sometimes radiated to entire upper side. X-rays done, exam - no cavities. Dentist determined my bite was annoying nerves of very last molar . He just drilled off some of the bite areas of tooth in front. Took about a minute at most. Miracle! No pain I’m so happy this morning. And happy that I wrote a letter of recommendation for him for dental school when he was my student in organic chem! Plus he gives me a discount!

The town near us doesn't even have bakeries that do this.

Jerseyguy has telemed with an infectious disease doctor from Sloan Kettering. He has labs done and doc can review these. Jerseyguy has a complicated medical history but the telemeds are great. Not needing to travel into NYC. Doc does prescribe and change doses, Doc also consults with other physicians who treat him in person. So telemed not just for simpler medical issues

Last day of parent/teacher conferences. Working until 8pm last Thursday and Friday means we go home at 3pm today and don't have to come in tomorrow. As far as I know there were no angry parents yesterday, but we'll see what today brings.
Here's to Tuesday!

I just got a box of Sanders bump cakes delivered (if this made any sense to you you may be a Midwesterner…) I am a Midwesterner but have never heard of these cakes until today. What piece of the MIdwest are they from? I think they’re Michigan based, so about as far north and east as you can get and still claim Midwest while people from andi’s neck of the woods give you side-eye They are actually bumpy cakes, not bump cakes…extra logs of buttercream frosting across the top then the whole thing covered in chocolate ganache. Totally excessive

The grocery store chain King's Markets in NJ carries individual desserts but availability and customs are very regional. There are also receipes to make small pie tarts and you can just freeze the rest. Give the rest away at your convenience or save for other winter holidays.

The recipe in my chef in a box book is too sweet so I cut it to 60 g of sugar in 500 g of milk, down from 100 g sugar. I should go make that. Back in CA our local Chinese buffets had mini custard tarts, or do you have a Portuguese bakery nearby per chance?

Here's to Tuesday! DD1 had her parent teacher conferences last week. One took all of a minute. I also met with her counselor, because I know the four year path has slightly changed in 30 years, and DS did not prepare us. I got side-eyed for that.

I'm stuck in an area where my closest options are Walmart (no), Stop & Shop, and Market Basket (where I won't be going anywhere near this week....). I'll def have to look into that, though, great idea! I wish I still had a Whole Foods anywhere convenient. I'm 45min on the highway from the closest two, without traffic.

FB messenger keeps blowing up. One of my cousins created a new account, so I messaged him to make sure it was actually him. That got him started and then I got a message from my nephew. I knew right away that he was hacked because he texts my cell.

I am in a wonderful location foodwise. I have access to ShopRite, Whole Foods, Wegmanns, Weis and King's Market if I make a special trip. Oh and Fresh Market which is the highest of high ends. If I had the $$ and a vehicle I would go buy myself a TG meal and refrigerate it. They even have pick up feasts with dessert for the holidays. Oh and Walmart. Stop & Shop is a special trip since the local one closed over town mayor/ taxes. Two years later idiot town has no one in that spot at all.

chiver78 Any diners/restaurants near you that serve that pie? They should have slices to go. Or Door Dash and don't even go anywhere.

Mister and I just had a conversation. I told him that I’d be a damn fool to be over 25 years in with my employer, and able to retire in 5-7 years, to give the retirement money and benefits up by giving up my job, and let all of that go, trying to mooch off of him. That just doesn’t even make logical sense. I am so deeply offended, not only because of the implications that I am a gold digger, but because he must also think I am stupid and a dummy and not intelligent at all, if he thinks I’ve dealt with all the shit I have with my employer, for all these years, to now just give up the end goal….. a decent retirement with benefits that many jobs these days don’t offer….. when I am so close to the light at the end of the tunnel. Just to suddenly be trifling and try to mooch off of and depend on him. Like I am BooBoo the Fool. If I were willing to be objective and honest , I would say that overall, the conversation was productive, but I am ornery enough these days, angry enough all over again, and still so deep in my feelings, that I really want to say that it’s still all a bunch of BULLSHIT. How did I even get here?! Did he really say that again?! Please let me punch him in the face! I'll fly myself down there and back. Did you remind him that you made more money than him when you got together? How were you to know that his income would go up so much? You could have found a guy with a bunch of money up front if you were trying to be a gold digger. He didn't have any gold to dig then, yet you chose him. That pisses me off for you.

I've pretty much sorted out the guest room. Just need to hang some of our pictures and then address the office. Next I need to sort out the kitchen including stashing drinks, sharpen knives, make Chex mix and flatten cardboard for recycling. And bring DD to pick up scrips at CVS, plus get DH's phone case at Verizon. And make some beef stew, since the knives will be sharp. I'm sure I've forgotten something.
ETA: Laundry. I forgot laundry and making cranberry sauce.

Seriously WTF? There is zero excuse for that kind of behavior. I'd be so tempted to hit below the belt. The common denominator here is Mister. His crappy previous choices in women and his enabling of his daughters and parents should not be projected onto you Pink. You are your own woman and if he can't see that he doesn't deserve you.
