I just got home from a late lunch at a bar/restaurant where mooch's band used to play. the bartender is a friend of mine, her husband's my stone works guy. I haven't seen her in awhile, I live too far to just take a long lunch and go see her on a random weekday. it was probably almost 2pm when I finally got there today. we chatted in between other customers for almost 2h while I worked on my huge Cobb salad and a couple cocktails. and I managed to be sitting at the bar with yet another person that also grew up in my hometown. lol......idk what it is about that particular place, but this is easily the 4th or 5th person that grew up a few streets over from me - a solid HOUR away from this place. right now, I'm waiting on some rice to cook for the pups. I'll blast a plate of it in the freezer to feed them close to their normal time (they ate late this am, so it's not a big deal) and let the rest cool before I pack it up. I'm also checking out flights to MIA/FLL for next month to see if jumping in on the annual cruise in Jan is feasible. I didn't book it this year, for a bunch of reasons. but my attitude IRT work, and the thought of being on a cruise ship in the Caribbean in January, rather than in frozen New England, is appealing. and I have a bunch of options for upper bunks to jump in on. Mom is up for pup care, I just need to figure out the rest of the logistics, re: cash flow. I'm most likely pulling the trigger on this.

I just got home from Hobby Lobby. I only go there once or twice a year, and today I remembered why (besides some of their politics). Only one cashier. They did eventually add a second cashier, but a woman in front of me had a cart stuffed full.

When I got home a bit ago from my wonderfully relaxing mani/pedi, I had a notification that this really hideous person in our community who will be elected to the board had "connected" with me. Uh, no, you haven't, I just deleted you. I consider Nextdoor the sewer system of social media and highly destructive to our community, especially as used by this woman to spew her venom. I have NO connections there. She's delusional.

I've heard only negative things about Nextdoor. Where I lived in Maryland we had a fine active neighborhood listserve that a couple of people tried to replace with ND, but got only a few takers. I have no interest in it myself.

Back from sunset at the beach. It was cold, especially considering the absolute temperature was above 40 degrees. I should have worn my deep winter jacket, and gloves. But Franklin the Dog is happy.

I took a short walk outside with DS & DH. It's 56 degrees, but you can definitely feel the cool in the air once you step out of the sunshine. I've gotta soak all the warmth in before Winter decides to show up.

I am mean. Sped teacher wrote back addressing me as Mrs loo. I corrected her that I am Dr loo although she can refer to me as Dr Formername if it’s too hard for her to keep straight from my husband who is also Dr loo. cc’d the principal, still working on finding an advocate.

I don’t look at it often, but NextDoor doesn’t seem that bad for my neighborhood. People trying to find owners for lost dogs, warnings about crimes, community oriented stuff, and people looking for lawn services. I haven’t seen any hateful stuff, but then again, I’m not on it much.
I really, really do not like the hours they changed me to at my job. My dislike is getting worse instead of better. I don’t like it that I have to come home in the dark now. I REALLY don’t like my hours overlapping with evening shift. They are crazy. The employees and the supervisors and managers. Every day, it’s some shit, and it’s all just freaking ridiculous. Also, some recent local criminal activity has me a bit more than unnerved about my safety at work. I don’t want to say too much, so you all will just have to trust that if I explained, you would understand.
I am still not in a good mood.

Apparently DH can be trained to follow my example. He came downstairs for dinner asking about where he could get a flu shot.

You have good reason(s) to not be in a good place right now, Pink Cashmere. It sucks. Let yourself be cranky, cantankerous and put out by the shit going on in your life. Then maybe you can respond in a way that works for you. I hope so anyway. Rooting for you. Can you ask to have your hours changed back?

Eating ice cream--mocha almond--while Franklin the Dog snoozes. DH is putting together items for the festival Saturday. I didn't accomplish what I'd hoped to today, but it will have to do. In the immortal words of Dr. Suess, this "day is done. Tomorrow is another one. Every day from far to near, funny things are everywhere."

All I can say is strongly dislike my new A/P system. What system is it? We use Sage Construction & Real Estate. I will keep using it until forced to change. I know it has its issues but I have been using it for 18 years and will use it as long as I can, as well

I just had a blueberry yogurt with pecans for dessert tonight. Now I'm munching on some raisins, can't eat many though lots of sugar in them.
We Just finished watching our nightly episodes of Gotham, hubs and I are watching together so neither of us are allowed to watch ahead. It's a pretty raw show, I would not want young kids to watch it.
Good meeting with DD's reps with the state and DD is going out with her behavior therapist next Tuesday. She actually came in and talked with them for a bit. Before that she had been in a mood. We enjoy having them, very nice people.
I'm wondering if any of you that live around Olympia, Wa know of a reputable garage builder. His neighborhood is built out so no one really building anything and no one he knows to ask. I'm going to ask our park manager, she had a good recommendation for a furnace installer. Our son is going to get one built if he can find someone. We need that done to move a bunch of our tools up there.
It got to 67 here this afternoon, the breeze was cool but still this is Nov, so wow. They are talking 50 to 60% chance of rain in the next few days, I sure hope so. It's getting desperate here.

Then maybe you can respond in a way that works for you. I hope so anyway. Rooting for you. Can you ask to have your hours changed back? Thank you for rooting for me. I can ask, just like any of us can ask for anything lol. The answer will be no. Our union has been working on it for me and all the other people whose times they changed. The answer is no. The odd thing is that a few people simply ignored the changed hours they were supposed to have started working, and so far nothing has been done about it. So it looks like I could’ve just played crazy and waited for them to say or do something about it. Management where I work is more unorganized than I’ve ever seen since I’ve been there. They’ve never been all that sharp, but it is unbelievable now. When I say they are crazy, here’s a tidbit…. The second in command in my building was under investigation a few months ago, for calling a male employee who is openly gay, a f@$$0+ and a s/&&%. On the workroom floor, in front of other employees. This manager has been known for screaming and cursing at employees for years, but they promoted her to her current position anyway, earlier this year. As far as we know, nothing came of the investigation, even though there were witnesses, including a supervisor that told the truth, in a written statement, about what he saw and heard. I’ve heard that he got between them and tried, to no avail, to get the manager away from the employee, but she kept ducking and running around the supervisor to get back in the employee’s face, yelling and screaming more insults, because the employee fired back and said her husband likes it, and she lost it. Out of all of that, the only thing I am certain about is that she initially called him those derogatory names, and there were witnesses. I wasn’t there, but everybody isn’t going to tell the same lie, or even admit they witnessed something, especially when it is going against a member of management, who could retaliate against them for being truthful about witnessing bad behavior. The manager is still in the same position of authority over the employee she screamed those vile things at. How is that okay? Imo, it’s not, but that’s how it goes where I work. That is just one example of what I mean when I say it is a toxic environment. It’s not as bad on the day shift, but it is horrible on the evening and night shift. The manager above works a mix of the day and evening shifts, but that particular incident happened with an employee that works the evening shift. I have lots of stories, about things that you wouldn’t believe goes on in a place of business. That is the kind of shit I don’t want to deal with now that my hours overlap with the evening shift. It’s a lot of wild and crazy shit that goes on on those shifts, the employees are crazy and the supervisors and managers are crazy, and I want nothing to do with any of it. I just want to go to work, do my job and get the hell away from there when it’s time for me to go home, without all the extra shit.

Ugh, Pink Cashmere, that's just horrible. I think I'd develop PTSD working in such an environment. I don't know what I'd do exactly, probably nothing, but in a lot of ways that's worse.

Good morning, industrious invisipeeps, toiling away at keeping things together. Welcome to Thursday. I hope you find good in what this day has to offer you and you feel hope for the future you. Today I need to bring DD to an appointment. Otherwise the day is clear. I need to both prepare for Saturday's show and Thanksgiving, so there's that. We are in a spot of relative warmth for a couple days as chiver78 pointed out. One thing I have to do is put the cover over the window a/c since I've decided to leave it in the window for the winter. Here are sunset from the day before yesterday, and yesterday's sunrise, at the beach:

Need to get moving. I have 15 minutes to get out of the house so I can get to work 1/2 hour early. Have a hard 10:00 AM deadline that I need to meet.

It's Thursday morning. I've been at work for 33 hours already this week. (I've not left my house yet this morning.) Including Sunday and Tuesday evening, I WFH another six hours. Today is a 12.5 hour day as is tomorrow. I do get next Wed - Fri off though.
Okay, I'm done whining. I'll go get ready for school.

I think holidays just create more work for educators. But that's not to say, do away with them. That's a real grind, Knee Deep in Water Chloe.

About to leave for grocery pick and will pick up a chai on the way home.
Just waiting for the text that my order is ready.
Yesterday I ordered some meals that are ready to reheat from a place that uses only organic food. They usually have many vegetarian choices. It is not a subscription so not something I am tied in to every week.
I will be having turkey made out of veggies and nuts. Can't wait to see how it tastes. I once had tofu turkey that was near inedible.
I also ordered green bean casserole. No cream of mushroom soup or green beans from a can. I like green bean casserole so I'm looking forward to that

No subscription either so I think I'll drop by when I am out and about today. They have a grab and go so don't have to order ahead unless you want something particular and ready for pickup. Keeping fingers crossed that I'll like it since I am getting tired of cooking LOL Like I ever liked to cook. Good luck with your order!!

Dh and I almost got divorced last night because he argued that grapes can and should go in Watergate salad. Maraschino cherries are allowed but my grandmother's version does not include them. Some people put nuts in it but that's pushing it. It's whipped cream, pistachio pudding, marshmallows and crushed pineapple. That is IT.
