We have a few inexpensive cameras outside, but they work well for us. A few weeks ago some guy was coming to our door, and DH met him at the door. He was selling a security system. He looked around and the first thing he said was "I bet you have problems with those cameras". DH replied "I met you at the door before you knocked. They are fine. Go away."

That's a fantastic creation. I'm so glad, too, that your DS will have a blast with it. It's great to be doing things just for the fun they create.

I also just realized that Friday is a holiday, so my work week just got better.

I'm seriously second guessing the oral surgeon I picked and paid $1500 to because insurance won't pay. First he was in a dentist office renting space. That was weird and the virtual dental assistant too. Now he's moved within the same building and is located in an eye doctor's office! I just reviewed the website again and sure enough for TMJ it mentions x-rays which he never did. And now he's in a damn eye doctor's office they certainly don't have the equipment. I thought at least some of the initial office visits could be covered so I picked one in network with my medical insurance. My choices were slim. That sounds shady. I say bail.

The watch party was lots of fun - I saw a lot of old friends and our candidate appears to be winning by a very substantial margin

Sheesh! Are the door-to-door salesmen getting more ballsy now, or what? First, it gets dark early here now, and someone first rings the doorbell, so I'm cooking dinner & ignoring it. Then they start knocking on the door. I have 2 neighbors, one a widow, who occasionally need our help, so I answer the door, and of course it's some idiot selling something. I told him flat out that dinner was on the stove & I have to get back to it. He says "you can have someone else stir dinner", which of course made me mad. I didn't cuss him out, but I did say he could leave any paperwork by the door, and I shut the door on him. Rude! I am pretty sure I would’ve cussed him out and insulted his Momma. Can I borrow you? Puh-leez? I'll even give you treats & cocktails...

I lie and tell door to door sales people that we rent. That usually sends them on their way right away. Every now and then one will start trying to ask if the landlord would want to do whatever it is and I wish them luck in finding out.

Babysitting niblings tonight. They were in bed but awake by the time I got here to relieve bil parents so not exactly fun babysitting but I'm so glad sil called and asked and glad we could help.
First night back to the dojo tonight was great. I've continued with private lessons but still good to be back.

I'm still up. Was going to bed and hubs woke up and has the telly on watching elections returns. The dems are doing ok. I'm so happy Ohio won the right to get an abortion and made it a constitutional amendment.
Like I told them on facebook. Women retaining this right will make it better for women wanting to have babies. The ob gyn's won't leave their states and the mother and baby will have way better care. It will likely reduce fatalities. So it's a win win.

Good morning, fierce and fiesty invisipeeps, thwarting unrequested sales people and applauding electoral results where appropriate. Welcome to Wednesday. I hope your day satisfies every dimension of you, putting vexations to rest and easing aching bodies while offering a magnificent dessert. Today we may be prepping for a show tomorrow, don't know for sure yet. If it's held and outdoors we need to buy some battery-operated lighting. If indoors we may not go. The venue doesn't really support indoor traffic; other activities are a block away and it seems unlikely we'd get many customers. I'm cool either way but would be just as glad to not be lugging the canopy, table, chairs, display rack and everything else out to put them away again in the dark. Yesterday it rained all morning so we didn't get to the beach. Franklin the Dog was mournful. So, after the rain broke and we dropped of all the things for the arts center show that begins Saturday we went to the long and beautiful town beach. The surf burst its energy on the shore. I know this picture has been taken by others 1000's of times, but to me it never gets old:

At the local warehouse club, there used to be a company that would aggressively harass you about home remodels on the way out the door. I told them we rented. I later saw bad reviews of them on the local Facebook page.
Especially if I'm home alone, I don't answer the door if I'm not expecting someone or a package. Front curtains stay closed a lot because the afternoon sun really bakes the front of the house. Great in winter not so much in July. It's my house, I didn't invite you, go away.

I was wondering why all the pets were in our bed when I woke up this morning. Turns out we had an earthquake in the middle of the night. DH and I slept right through it. The thing lasted about ninety seconds.

Y'all, I just lost a whole 80 pound dog. I couldn't find Macy for the life of me. The poor thing had been locked in my room. I didn't know she was in there. When I opened the door she darted out of there like she'd been locked up for years. She was only missing for about an hour before I realized I hadn't seen her in a while.

I did that to Punk once in the old house. I didn't realize she'd followed me downstairs when I changed over the laundry. she was downstairs in the pitch dark for about an hour before mooch or I realized it.

We got a hand addressed handwritten letter from a different town and return address names I didn’t recognize. Turned out it was realtors asking if we’d be willing to sell our house to their prospect. Probably best they weren’t there in person, my knee jerk answer was somewhere between “F*** no you twats” and running them out of town on a rail I have no patience for salespeople. I’m not wired that way; I am allergic to wasting people’s time.

I gloriously slept in on my own til almost 730am, and took my sweet time unloading and reloading the dishwasher with whatever didn't fit last night. I'm freshly showered, about to get dressed and pack up some extra layers for LD and me, and we're going to hit the road in a little bit. it's cold today! I'm looking at taking route 6A as far down Cape as the pups will let me, seeking out cool places to explore along the way.

I can hear DH do his interview in the basement. What I heard sounds good. I haven't said anything about it because I don't want to jinx it.
Even if he doesn't get this job, we learned that we can still get (expensive) health insurance through his workplace. I really need him to get this job, though.

DH answered the door and said not interested. She said what number would it take. He replied 'one meeeeellion dollars' a la Austin Powers complete with pinky finger on his mouth and closed the door. DD15 and I couldn't stop laughing. I sit right by the front windows when I'm working from home. I totally ignore anyone who knocks. One guy came over and started knocking on the window right next to me. I just kept on working. I have a good laugh after they leave all confused why I don't answer. Figure it's better to waste their time knocking than mine answering.

I’ve started answering through my doorbell camera sometimes, even if I am home. One, so whoever it is knows they are on camera. And also so I can do the equivalent of “hanging up” if they annoy me.

One day I kept hearing Boy whining, and I couldn’t find him. I thought he was with Mister in his wannabe man cave at first. I looked all over the house for him, it turned out that he was in the bathroom in the hall and the door was closed. I’m pretty sure Kiddo had closed him up in the bathroom, even though he denied it. Mister and I didn’t do it, and Kiddo was the only person here. Boy will open doors sometimes, but he doesn’t close them. Plus, he would never close himself somewhere away from everybody.

Gwen accidently locked Wilbur in her closet. He apparently crawled in then when she was getting her clothes and didn't follow her out. We couldn't find him anywhere and then heard frantic scratching inside the closet. She felt so bad.

My chocolate lab once locked herself in the bathroom. In her effort to get out, she pulled out a drawer in the vanity right next to the doorway. The drawer blocked us from being able to open the door to let her out. We had to cut through the drywall so we could reach in, push the drawer back into the vanity, and open the door to let her out. The trickiest part was trying to remember where, exactly, the electrical outlet was on that wall so we didn't electrocute ourselves in the process.
