I know everything is bigger in Texas, but every now and then I see a number that surprises me. My county has 701 polling locations for tomorrow's election. Some of the odder ones are a faux castle, a fire station, a funeral home, and numerous personal garages. Glad I voted early.

Doubtful. I live in between two very red states. I'm always going to assume the worst. I think your assumption is warranted. I don't think there are too many jobs where gender identity or sexual orientation is relevant. I could see where it could be for the business. It may be different now but I remember a time, and I am only 48, where companies received tax incentives or other financial gains by hiring women or POC - or could at least claim to be diverse. Maybe it is along that vein. I would not answer the question though, especially considering where she lives.

I met a woman named Michael who got terrific responses to her job applications. When they called there was always some confusion, though. my mom was a print model before she got married. one of her female coworkers was named George. I guess the woman was the youngest of 5 or 6 daughters and Dad was insistent that "he got his 'George' " before they stopped having kids. re: Michael, specifically though - Michael Michele

I am completely fall’d out. Apple picking (was last weekend for u pick), baked two apple pies to use up the last of the previous picks, spent hours and hours cleaning up leaves. DH spent most of the weekend dealing with a minor pool emergency. Good weekend, but very very full. How do errands and adulting expand to fill all available time? Completely mindblowing that Thanksgiving is less than 3 weeks away MIL is insisting that FIL will be able to come to our house. I am planning to be able to pivot and schlep everything over there anyway since most nights they can’t even make it down to their communal dining room SIL is bringing her partner which means at least I don’t need to worry about cleaning the guest room, they stay at a hotel when they both come. Playing Taylor Swift in the background as I fiddle with a data analysis that is way harder than it ought to be. I continue to like her music but the songs really kinda blur together. I suppose that’s a plus when I’m supposed to be concentrating on work

not sure if you're in an office or WFH, so this may not be helpful info. but, I've found that the murder shows on HLN generally have a consistent volume and make fantastic background noise. the current episode of Very Scary People is covering John Gotti. the previous 2h were a deep dive into the evil actions of Israel Keyes. bonus - the series host is D.o.n.n.i.e Wahlberg

Because I''m working 7 days a week, 12 hour days M-F. It would be fun if circumstances were different.
Plus ages and stages of kids. We're in the dinner at 4pm or 8pm stage at least 4 nights a week and almost none of that is fun imo. Speaking of....I need to get my chicken in the crockpot. It sounds awesome, but most days it’s a win if I get DS fed dinner that includes any form of veggies. Meanwhile there may or may not be something there for DH, and I wind up scarfing Halloween candy more nibbling on things than any official dinner And I am less oversubscribed than gira ( Less organized and less awesome too, but also less oversubscribed.) Weekends allow a little more scope for cooking with DS, but by the time he’s done homework and cello and duolingo on a weeknight and I’ve finished work no one has any bandwidth left…or any patience

Mission accomplished! Covid shot is done until next time, whenever that is. Had a fabulous older nurse, too. I've always had good luck with older nurses when it comes to IV's, shots, whatever, as you hardly feel a thing.

I do bake with the kids, though. Mostly because I can use marshmallows as math manipulatives and the kids have no idea. I think between the girls, they could handle making cut out cookies without me.
I'm also really not that organized. I just ask a lot of just in time questions so I look organized. I really am trying to avoid a real-life home alone situation.

I definitely just got out some "I need to SCREAM!" energy between calls by using my leafblower on the deck, my car, the driveway. it's the little things. next call is in 9min.

ahhh......one more day til Wed off. <ohhhhhhmmmmmmm> I was just asked if I had opened a deviation record (I'm a QA approver, I can't open them) for a deviation nobody ever told me about. I did a deep inbox search for individual keywords, and nothing came up. so, please tell me how I can open a record for something I don't know about? oh wait, you can't. and you're still all too ready to throw me under the bus for shit I can't control.

I am having doctor or hospital applications ask now the gender at birth instead of anything else. Ok, off to the closing I go. I survived last night but was 3AM before I could sleep. What a miserable night. Sure going to be way more careful on what I eat again. Processed foods are just not for me. I need to cook or be very very careful what I eat. The closer to fresh I can get, the better off I am. Were the Tamales, Mexican Tamales, made with Masa? I can't eat anything with corn in i anymore. It gives me horrible diarrhea. Also, no corn tortillas, Corn meal, Corn Syrup, Popcorn etc. Come to find out it is on the Low Fod Map diet I was just given by the GI doctor I went to. I had not question she was on the right track, because I had already identified many of the foods on the list as problematic for me. www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/wellness-and-prevention/fodmap-diet-what-you-need-to-knowwww.idealnutrition.com.au/fodmap-food-list/My Grand Nephew is doing better. My niece reported on the Caring Bridge site that B was awake from 4 am yesterday to 5 am this morning and was pretty upset that he could not have a bottle. He took 2.5 oz with the speech pathologist and is cleared to bottle feed from now on. His NG tube can be removed as soon as he can continue to take full feeds and oral meds. He is also weaned down to .5 liters of oxygen from 2.0 liters yesterday. He no longer is on any sedation or pain meds besides Tylenol. She hopes they will go to a step down unit tomorrow. This was his second heart surgery. He is 3.5 months old. Mom is going back to work (she is a nurse) and Dad will stay home with Baby B for the next 2 weeks. Thanks for all your prayers.

Just finished a salad for lunch. I've been to the PO and to Michael's; next to Costco then back to walk Franklin the Dog. Then, prepare to drop off items tomorrow for the show. Need to sticker things and work up an inventory.
DH wants to do this show in the smallish city next to us on Thursday. I have misgivings--it'll be late afternoon/evening, so dark, and it will likely be rainy and chilly. But it's a city-run affair with lots going on. THey're closing off a couple blocks of a street. And, DH is really interested. I'm inclined at this point to go willingly along with anything he wants. Life is short.

The dealership needs to replace a part that is not in stock so I have to bring it back Wednesday which screws up another day for both me and DH. I am not amused.

Eating lunch. Wondering yet again why the 1/2 of lunch flies by while the 8 hours of work drags.

Yeah, no. I was known as a pretty mellow person at work always trying to help out (contract manager) but the very rare occasions when someone tried this game on me they discovered that Dante's Circles of Hell was an unfinished work. There is indeed a tenth circle and they just landed in it. Not a single person made that same mistake twice - all while I stayed very polite BTW but I am quite capable of scaring the crap out of anyone if I feel it is necessary

T2 is looking for a daytime job instead of nighttime. She had an application ask if she identifies as LGBTQ. I don't think they can do that. It also asked if she's a cis, trans, or nonbinary individual. I'm also thinking that's illegal. swamp I don't know what kind of job T2 is looking for, or how much she makes but I know two airlines are very good with LBTQ people. DD has worked with quite of few LBTQ individuals and also many minorities. We have friends with a son who works at another airline. He was a Flight Attendant. He married a same sex flight attendant from South America. Not only did he get promoted to Management, but his partner was hired on in the American Division of the airline, which will make their lives much easier. Most jobs now are FT with benes, but they might have seasonal employees at some airports. DD started in college and was initially seasonal. She was hired as Permanent before her first seasonal stint was over. I just pulled a T-shirt out of the dryer that was a Pride Shirt with the airline insignia on it too. Starbucks always did the same when she worked there. I know some people want to go back to the dark ages, but not everyone agrees with them. We have quite a few friends and family in the LBTQ group. A cousin of mine, a cousin's son, a niece and a nephew. DH has I think 3 cousins that are Gay, the Son of the friend I mentioned. DH also has a friend from College, and a Counselor from College that he stayed in touch with. DD has two HS friends that are gay (and she knew this in HS). My Senator from Wisconsin has been elected 2x with the majority of the statewide vote, and we have had State Representatives that are LBTQ also. I mean really, I often wonder if that many people are really willing to go to the extremes some in the GOP are talking about. I think they are just trying to appeal to the extremes in the party so they can cobble together a majority vote, but idk when they will have gone too far for people to still vote for them. I remember a poster here who refused to believe that the Republicans would actually repeal Roe v. Wade entirely and look how fast that happened.

Well, any idea I had of an organized week has totally gone to the dogs. I had my author guy on the calendar for tomorrow, but he requested a re-schedule to Thursday because he's up to his eyeballs in edits I suggested. Tomorrow a.m. therefore is only DH's annual wellness visit with his doctor (which explains why he has been and will be a total PITA for a week before and after, super white coat phobic). Wednesday will be another trip to the dealership to replace my rear tweeter or woofer (yeah, I'm very immature and that sounds funny to me either way). So Thursday is now my author, and Friday is the AC guy for the heater check-up. Saturday lunch will therefore be some danged good chicken pho complete with lots of Thai basil and jalapenos for me. DH doesn't like pho so I've already informed him he's on his own for his Saturday lunch. At least the female tech at the dealership laughed at my "Piss Off" keychain.
