Ran a half marathon this morning and was only 40 seconds off my personal best. Ugh! But I'm 4.5 years older and in a different age group and I didn't train that hard, so I'll consider it a win.
Took a long bath and now thinking about eating. Kids have a basketball awards party later, I will have to rally for that.

And now the hall closet has been cleaned out. Lots of sheets for the charity bag, and cleaned out the first aid supplies. Now I have so much expired stuff to replace.

I wish I could run. Have not been able to for many a year, too hard on my feet. I do need to get downstairs and walk on the treadmill and start using my weights again.
I keep thinking I need someone to clean my house. Well actually all I need is less stuff to clean around and it will be easy to take care of. I keep trying but see things that are "just to nice to get rid of" and put them back. I need to get over that mindset and just do it. I think it comes from my mom saving everything just in case we might need it.
House I'm looking for.
Big kitchen-eat in with bar. Mud room with w/d and closet or a shower and commode would be nice.
Master bedroom downstairs but preferably on one level.
A game room or bonus room for my hobbies
3 bedrooms or 4 if one if its a bonus room
Walk in closets for us and DD
Oversized garage for hubs or 3 car garage
On a 1/3 to 1/2 acre
I want to be in town or close to town, don't want to have to drive a long way as we age. Where delivery is available would be good too.
A covered patio would be nice but can live with just a patio/// Oh and I almost forgot a heat pump for heating and AC much cheaper to run
Plus items I wouldn't turn down, a greenhouse Fire pit Fenced yard Nice landscaping that is easy to maintain
What we will get? What has a decent price and hopefully only needs cosmetics to fix. Or who knows
Anyway I know what I want, but getting there is the BIG issue.

Happy birthday Weltz. Remember new year = new experiences. I hope one of those experiences for your next year of life is no more getting, or staying, sick

Dc and I volunteered at the rabbit rescue house to clean again and we still didn't come home with a bunny. I think that deserves an award. Like a bunny.
There was one of the giant breeds there that was sooooo cute. He's not on their adoption list though. They were working on bonding him to someone when we left. The bonded girls we liked so much last time must have been adopted.
Giant rabbits and mini farm animals are my goal though. With plenty of loving tabby cats thrown in for good measure.

I'm going to go through the medicine cabinet and see what's expired and what we need to replace. Our quarterly OTC benefit ($40 for each of us) starts January 1 so I'll go shopping then. We don't use very many OTC products but I can always use band aids, Polysporin, etc.

We went to lunch at a fun Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant we love. We were 2 of the 3 Caucasian customers. You know it's authentic when you have to ask for a knife and fork - chopsticks are standard on every table.
Got get up early and get my car to a 9 a.m. service appointment.

sounds like it's time to learn to use chopsticks. happy birthday, weltz. I hope you're feeling better soon! today hasn't at all been how I thought it would go, but that's not a bad thing. I just took a different way to get there pups were looking miserable around 11am, so I threw them in the car and we set off for a drive. we took a scenic route and made a few stops before going back to our old neighborhood, where I picked up deli tuna salad (for me) and sliced American cheese (for them) at the village market. we then went over to the fish market around the corner and I picked a gorgeous salmon filet that I thought I'd cook tonight. except I've been snacking over this football game that was way more interesting than expected. lol... so the salmon will wait for tomorrow. I'd planned to prep cook today, for them, but I don't have enough clean containers for what I'd planned to cook up. so that will also wait. I've got enough going on that it can wait til after I meet finnime on Wednesday morning to pick up calendars, as I've got nothing else planned for the rest of that day off. I do need to make up both beds with clean sheets before I wipe out for the night, though. tonight won't be late, with my 3h interlude of insomnia overnight last night. happy Sunday, kids!

I'm still outside, taking care of some correspondence on the laptop I'd been streaming football on. I'm freezing my tuchus off, and am heading inside soon. it's dusk-ish, at 5pm, the day after losing DST. while I hope the timing jolt helps the insomnia, I can't help but get back up on my soapbox and rail about how evil it is that it's dusk at 3pm in January, and can we finally approve whatever mechanism needs to happen that Boston and NB Canada are in the same damn time zone? be it permanent DST or a move to AST, I don't give a flying f*ck, just get it done.

Made the alligator his little purple cape. It works. It amuses me and anyone whose watch Fantasia would get it.
Now I'm doing Christmas wreath surgery. I didn't know the ones we took from grandma's were made of foam.
DH set crap on them and they snapped in half. I'm hot gluing them back together.
The green one is done for. I need another foam piece and I can recreate it. The stuff she made it with is still intact.

I have good kids. Ds caught me a shiny pokemon while I was napping. He named it yourwelcomemom. LOL
We're closing in on dinner. I bought strawberries and raspberries fresh, and made the slaw, so dinner is almost done.
The peanut is clean.
The futon is down.
Breakfast is ready for tomorrow,
After the missy goes to bed I can start on tomorrow's dinner. Maybe I can even start before bedtime.
We kept up with the dishes.
I didn't even freak about the cost of groceries.
Tomorrow is day 5 for DH. He'll start to re-engage on evening schlepping.
I even took a nap in my bed. For a hour today.
I didn't think any of this was possible.

Happy birthday, weltz . Our church has a tradition where they read the names of those who have passed away and ring a bell + light a candle. It is part of All Hallowed Day. They call these people "saints" who have passed away. Somehow I misread the email and thought the secretary was gathering a list of those who served in the Armed Services since Friday is Veteran's Day. So I put DH's name on the list. The thing is that people whose names ertr being read aloud died in the past year. DH was not only not a member of this church but died four years ago. So I was startled when his name was read out, the bell rung, and a candle lit. He certainly would never want his name on a list of "saints." And it made me cry since he was buried four years ago tomorrow. So I felt awkward and sad and everything else. Then I decided it was a message from God. DH and I never talked much about religion although he knew how I felt. And he offered to go with me, but neither of us went. He knew he was dying and told me he would see me in heaven, but that may have just been to make me feel better. Only God knows. And that's what I decided. God was telling me not to worry about it. I know a lot of you have ambivalent and even negative feelings about organized religion. But I do feel better about tomorrow.

Okay, I just printed out 200+ pages of book revisions for my author. And I can't sing the praises of my ancient HP LaserJet enough. That thing has been cranking out black and white copies for well over a decade and never blinks. I would love a color laser but those things are huge and I just don't have the space in my little office and really can't justify the cost for the relatively few times I would print in color.

LMAO. I've told ya'll about our semi feral cat, whose only sounds she ever makes sounds like Beaker from the Muppets "meep". I just heard a sound from the porch that sounded a lot like when our last cat was playing with am almost dead mouse, like a screeching. It was the cat scaring off another cat, and the sound, though very muted, was like the siren from a nearby fire department. 🤣

A little bit ago I mentioned we were going to check out the open house at a new 55+ apartment community. We went today and it was very nice, definitely something we would consider. BUT, as with any new development - single family homes, townhomes, condos, apartments - it is very important to recognize that pretty things in a glossy full-color brochure are not the same as actual things already built. "Coming soon!" is a nice thought, but if an amenity such as gym, swimming pool, whatever is important to you be aware that it may be a bit before it happens and no real guarantee it will. I was just a little bit leery of that today because the community center and gym were "coming soon" and those are very important to us.
They did have excellent secured garages and on-site storage lockers (for separate fees, of course), some pretty good layouts, and are pre-wired for security systems. I think we could do a 2-bedroom with a den/office as a third space. That would give DH his TV room and me a she-cave/office.

Cooking is way over rated. I remember when DH and I would cook together and try out new meals weekly. It seems so quaint that we did that.
