cheers, I definitely missed all of that. I hope she figures it out soon and vacates your house, though. she doesn't sound like a pleasant roommate most of the time.

Now that was... odd. They have been working on developing an earthquake warning app and, because I an an unapologetic nerd, I have downloaded that prototype app a while back. You are supposed to get a 10-15 second warning. Today for the first time that thing went off. So I grabbed my phone and went to the one "safe" place in my home (lots of glass in every room) and went to my safe place. Nothing happened, so I checked for earthquakes near me and sure enough: there was one right when the alarm went off. Not that big at 4.6 but I must live outside the wave area for that one. I felt a little silly sitting braced in my hallway through nothing - still the fact there was a quake means I need to heed these warnings, feeling silly or not... No need to feel silly about that. I wish we had a warning like that, here. Better safe, than sorry! I wonder if I'd run out to the street? I don't want to be buried in rubble. I'm glad you and your home, are safe! That might be my go-to once we are past the proto type period and have an idea of how long we have before the shaking starts. I live in a second (top) floor condo and really done want to be thrown of the stairs when a big one hits. Those stairs are very steep.

Today I took care of most of the nuisance paperwork I had piled up, but still couldn't find the ambition to fill out the insurance reimbursement forms for the eye exam and new glasses we got back in August-my give-a-damn is totally broken. I will do it tomorrow a.m.
Just realized there are two more folks coming to tonight's budget committee meeting which will be interesting. I want to get a read on the newest person, the one running for treasurer in 2024. She's shy, socially awkward, and rather bright but the jury is still out on her motivations and trustworthiness.

I think I missed something. I know your sister was house-sitting for you and TD while you sailed the world, but what is this mess that means she's still living with you guys? Yep. I misjudged things here. I thought she’d look for some place south to move to, a lot cheaper (and redder) than the PNW and have a plan by the time we got back. She’s decided she likes it here and is trying to figure it out. To get into any sort of house is going to be a minimum of $500k, and she can’t do that. Nothing other than a house is acceptable. Show her all the nice houses for under 200K in Arkansas.

Things have gone rather smoothly. She does try to give TD and I privacy, and stay downstairs a lot. She does help with the dog and will go grocery shopping and cook.

Good things can happen in 3's right? Because a really nice third thing would be a job falling in one of our laps right now.

I was sick the last few days, took Monday off. Came to work yesterday, and my IBS-d kicked up, which stressed me out more, I did not want to leave work as I had already taken Monday off. Today I am very nauseated, still have a bit of sneezing and drainage going on but not too bad, but my stomach is really upset. Since Pink has been posting about her GI issues and the relationship to Stress, I am wondering it it is just stress. Just working stresses me out. I often wonder if I should just stop working and keep up with my house and the business accounting. DH is really doing well...but we have 5 and 6 years until we are eligible for Medicare and DH does not feel really secure in his job. So, I keep coming to work every day. I think I will at least try to get us a cleaning lady. DD is home on Thursday and Friday, so maybe I can get a cleaning lady on Thursdays when she is home. At least if they clean the main area of the house things would be a lot easier. I am often too tired to do much when I get home in the Evening. In the am, I get up about 6 am, walk the dogs, take a shower and feed the Rabbits before I drive to work. It takes about 40 minutes. In the evening, I leave work, go to MIL's pick up my dogs and drive home. That takes about 1 and a half hours, then I walk the dogs again for another 30 minutes and feed the Rabbits again. DH cooks dinner. I might watch and hour of TV before bed. Before I left for work this am, I also loaded the dishwasher. DH worked late last night, he got home at 8:30 ish. He is trying to capture an $8,000 production bonus. He pretty much has earned it already and he has 12 working days left (he works Saturdays). DH also laid a floor and painted at his office this week. He won 4 tickets to the Badgers vs. Indiana Hoosiers Nov 4th but told his Manager to give them to someone else as he has too much to get done before winter. I am not a big Football fan, so I don't really care - I would go...but he is right we have way too much maintenance to get done before the snow flies. ETA. DD has accepted a different job (assuming she passes the background check), and she will go for training in January, then she is not sure where she will end up, so she is most likely only living with us until the end of the year. A lot of your post struck chords with me, but I’ll just say that I really hope you feel better soon.

Just found out one of my new producers is younger than my kids. I feel really old now. my moment for that was when I realized there were MLB players born in the 2000s. I graduated college in 2001. so, similar there. but we're only a few weeks from being the same age again. lol... Yeah. Also me when I add drivers born in the 2000s to policies.

Happy belated birthday, TheOtherMe. weltz, your son's situation sounds absolutely miserable. I hope for an easing of the tension in the near future. I imagine you are very worried for everyone's safety and well-being. Knee Deep in Water Chloe, I hope things take a turn for the better at your work.

What are they arguing over still? Haven't they been divorced for years now and the kids are all grown and gone? Spousal support. He was ordered to pay it when she stepped out of the workforce 20 years ago. She was making more money than he, and both were earning $120k+/year. Since it was in a highly technical field, her stepping out allowed his income to soar while she managed to get a toe back in 4 years ago for $50k. Judge has ruled he owes her spousal support since her career to the hit to benefit his. He was ordered to pay, paid a few years then stopped. Another judge ordered the same and he refused to pay. He demanded mediation, and walked out of it. It’s going back to the last judge who ordered the support until his retirement. My sister’s income has gone up about 25%, but not near what it would have been. That's messed up. I hope she gets the money she deserves. Her ex is a dick.

So apparently my brain is not working properly. All last night and today, I was thinking I needed to leave at 2:20 for my Doctor appointment today. It was not until I got in the car at 2:20, that it clicked that there was no way I would make it to my appointment on time, by 2:30. Or even by 2:45, within their 15 minute grace period. Never mind that you sit in the waiting room for longer than 15 minutes after your appointment time anyway, that’s their rule. So I called and the lady I spoke to said I’d have to reschedule my appointment. By then I was out of sorts and when she offered me an appointment Friday at 10:45am, I just said okay.
But then I was even more out of sorts, because I do NOT need to say I need to leave work for a Doctor appointment Friday. So I called back and rescheduled my rescheduled appointment for Tuesday, my day off from work. I was SO upset and disgusted with myself for missing my appointment today.
While I was so out of sorts with all of that, and before I called them the last time, I was sitting at a light with an arrow, to make a left turn to get on the expressway. When there was a break between cars, I made my turn. The arrow was RED, so I ran the light. Which upset my nerves further and I was yelling on the inside wtf is wrong with me.
Idk why my brain is not working properly, so I decided to just sit my ass down somewhere and try not to do anything that requires me to have some common sense for the rest of the day an night. Because WTF?!

If you are upset, generally you aren't thinking clearly. Sorry you missed your appointment and I hope it works out better next Tuesday.

If she's racist (not saying she is), it's a mecca for them. If she's in computers she'll also likely be the smartest person in town.

Carrot is officially over his extreme paranoia of needles. He had to have an ingrown toenail cut out today and needed to get two shots in his toe before they dug it out. 🤢 The kid can do that without flinching flu shots should be a breeze this year.

If you are upset, generally you aren't thinking clearly. Sorry you missed your appointment and I hope it works out better next Tuesday. I got upset about running the light because first of all, I am big on driving safely. Second of all, a lot of intersections here have cameras to ticket drivers that run red lights. Idk if that intersection has one or not. But if it does, that means Mister will get a ticket in the mail, because the vehicle I was driving is registered in his name. I’d called him to vent when I first realized I wouldn’t make it to my appointment on time, and I told him about me running the light, so a ticket won’t be a surprise to him. He didn’t get upset when I told him what I’d done, even though he knew what I was driving. I just don’t like it that if a ticket is coming, it will be in his name instead of mine. I don’t have an issue paying it, I just hate that it will be on his driving record instead of mine, when I’m the one that did it. That’s one of the reasons I don’t like driving other people’s vehicles.

I just listened to the evening news, and apparently Joran van der Sloot finally admitted to killing Natalee Holloway with a cinder block back in 2005. this was part of his plea agreement for the extortion case he was extradited back to Alabama to face. www.nytimes.com/2023/10/18/us/van-der-sloot-holloway-murder.htmlnow if we could finally find Madeleine McCann, my 20s can rest. 🥀

Yeah, but Arkansas. If you weren't born there what could be the appeal. from what Mich has posted about her sister, I think she'd fit in well down there. From my admittedly very limited anecdotal data of family that was born and raised in Arkansas and Oklahoma and a different cousin that tried to move to Nashville I don't think having things in common is enough particularly for that area of the country. The outsider mentality can be very strong so unless you have a community to plug into its really isolating. I didn't get the impression that Mich's sister was very religious just a deep red politically. I could be wrong, but that's tough too. Church isn't necessarily a plug and play community but without it that hill becomes really hard to climb.

DH got fired today. Retail sucks.
Past that, I'm not sure about much of anything these days.
Being YM I guess I should say I bring in 82 or 83% of every dollar? Something like that. I haven't checked my spreadsheet lately. We are not in a bad position per se. The mortgage will still be paid. There will be food on the table. Kiddo will continue with all her extracurricular activities. DH did carry our benefits but I will take care of that tomorrow.
Things now are just.....different. I want DH home with us more instead of working so many nights and weekends. DH agrees. Based on my searches this afternoon there are also a lot of jobs available that he meets the requirements for. We don't need him to take any job anywhere immediately just to get a paycheck though. Thankfully.
I think, at least for a couple of months, we are going to look for something that has more traditional 9-5 type hours. Even if it means a "cut in pay" from his (now) former job. Kiddo will grow up fast. She already has. Having DH home at regular times is worth it right now even if it means a decrease in hourly pay.
So.....yeah. My day has been interesting to say the least.

I just found out they are moving my job to another division, which makes absolutely no sense. No word yet on if I actually need to move to another office, again, in another building. The only other jobs open here are jobs I don't want.

It was so sad seeing people sitting on porches on shanties. I wanted to cry. We vacationed in the Ozarks but I only remember the crappy cabin we stayed in.

It is now, and it’s just so obscenely expensive here. A really cute condo just went on the market. I was really into that story when she first disappeared. I had a daughter who was 4 years younger than Natalee, pretty teenager with long blond hair. Then a few years later we moved to the town she was from (although my daughter was in college by then). Glad the parents finally got some closure.
