I'm going to need the freezer, body bag, and legal representation 'cause DH really shit the bed with me tonight, figuratively speaking. He bitched that I didn't tell him everything going on with our community association. Dude, you want to know everything, come to the meetings - I'm not telling you every word said in 2-3 hour meetings with all the back stories and nuances. And every word of every email and text I exchange. He wanted to know about a particular lawsuit; okay, how many hours do you want to spend while I read you every filing, every pleading, the judge's ruling; transcript of the arbitration, pre-arbitration online strategy discussions, etc. Oh, wait, I left out the sworn statement of the process server who had a gun put to his head while trying to make service. And I'm not doing any of that any way, because it's confidential and I have signed a confidentiality agreement. The man is making me crazy!

There’s a gap on the left side of the circle, so DH is deciding which inflatables I should order to fill the gap. 🙄 Have just finished dinner—DH made chili with Turkey and two toes of beans. We also bought a Chili’s cheddar bread at the farmer’s market yesterday. Ticking off some planning and bill tasks Watching MLB baseball playoffs. Will do the dishes soon and go to bed early to read.

Normally I'm here for you, but I just finished dinner and am kinda full. Hold off on needing help with the freezer.

Got in about 45 minutes of weeding; tomorrow should give us a nice afternoon to finish the job. I am having some plain seltzer after a filling dinner. I got in 4 -5 minutes of weeding. That's almost the same thing.

I am making chili. I’ve always used McCormick’s chili seasoning, this time I made my own. I had Mister taste it before I started cooking the chili and he said it was good. Well, it is not translating well in the actual chili. I am trying to fix it, but idk what the heck I’m doing lol. And I am very pleased to report that I have FINALLY had some decent sleep, 2 nights in a row. Yesterday I was shocked when I woke up and it looked like the sun was starting to come up. Our room is so dark, even in the daytime, that you can barely tell what time of day it is, or see the sun shining, but there was just enough light for me to see that the sun was indeed rising. I almost wanted to cry in gratitude that I hadn’t been awake since 2am. I practically skipped into work lol. I woke up about 20 minutes earlier this morning, but that was still GREAT. It’s been a very long time since I had some decent sleep, and for over a month, I have been only getting 2 or 3 hours of sleep, maybe 4 hours total of broken sleep. So the last 2 nights have been awesome. What did you put in your chili seasoning mix? Glad you got the good sleep - it makes world of difference the next day. The basic stuff I saw in most recipes online. Chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin (I think that’s the issue, apparently I don’t like cumin much, and it had enough in it that I could taste it), cayenne pepper, salt and pepper. That’s what I remember, but I might be leaving something out. After I started tasting the chili, I deleted the recipe I used lol. Thanks, good sleep does make a world of difference!

Cumin can overpower a dish. I use it regularly but I put about half or less of what a recipe calls for, taste and adjust.
If I just go off the recipe it tends to become inedible for me.
There is a product my company that has that blows my head off with Cumin. I actually gag at the smell of it.
I use cumin, anchor chili powder, coriander and a little bit of cocoa powder when I make chili.

Mister knows more about seasoning and spices than I don’t even know what half of the stuff we have is used for.

The dogs are being little jerks tonight. They want to go outside, but it's cold now, with a cold breeze. I'm not going to stand with the door open, and wait for them to make up their minds on if they're coming back into the house or not.

I make a pretty good chili. I don’t use ground meat, but chuck I cut into tiny pieces. I cook the meat in batches, put it aside. Add chopped onion to the pot, along with 3T chili powder, 2T of both garlic powder and cumin, and 1 T of oregano and cayenne to taste. I toast the spices with the onion awhile, and throw a bottle of dark beer and a can of beef stock in. Meat goes back in, along with 2 14 oz cans of chopped tomatoes. Simmer awhile, and when the meat is tender, throw in 2 cans of drained kidney beans. The meat is a pain in the ass to cut up, but I think it makes a good chili.

Went up to Vancouver this morning to see TD’s mom. Picked up take out dim sum. MIL has decided that when her daughter leaves, she wants to do it alone. TD is pissed, his sister is pissed. She clearly needs help. He said that he was going to come up anyway, and his mom said she’d send him home. Damn woman. She’s going to hurt herself again.

Good morning, invisible cooks of chili and soups, and eaters of same. Welcome to Monday. I hope your day does not overwhelm with cumin but offers a touch of brown sugar (great addition to chili or stew along with the cocoa powder) instead. Going to go early today to New Hampshire, right after Franklin the Dog and I get back from the beach. Enumerating things to be done first to myself. Sending lawyers, guns and money to soupandstew. Really glad you're getting the sleep, Pink Cashmere. Yesterday was a fine day over all, even though I forgot to get the salad greens and plums at Costco; it was crazily busy. It was rainy-ish in the morning but cleared up. I did get this shot of sundown over the hurricane barrier causeway.

finnime Thanks for sharing the picture. Well another night of poor sleep. Oh well, take one day at a time. I was scheduled to be off on Friday. I scheduled the day back in July. The COO scheduled mandatory training and wanted my boss to cancel my PTO. Since the training is on Zoom I am going to log in from home to do the training.

same. I've been awake since about 330am, after going to bed super early last night. I was in a foul mood and just waved the white flag on the day. I'm already over today, too.

I'm already thinking my workplace is mimicking the show, the office.
We haven't even hit business hours yet. I wish I would have hit "imitating the office" status on Wednesday, rather than right away on Monday.

I queued up Very Scary People for today's background noise, for the same reason. as much as whatever I'm doing now sucks, it could be worse - I could have crossed paths with the Golden State Killer, or the subject of any other episodes of this show.

I got up at 5 am & took a Covid test. It was negative, so went back to sleep. Most likely my congestion & headache is from my Fall allergies, which really weren't bad the last few years, as I had been wearing a mask whenever I went out in public. I haven't worn a mask this Fall, so I feel like my allergies are kicking my a$$ right now, but I have a lot to get done the next few days, so I must power through.

Feeling really lazy and ineffective lately and not healthy enough to try to fix it Gorgeous photo, even more than usual finnime The sky is stunning, all the more for having the contrast with the land.
