He’ll be okay. Or not, if that’s what he chooses. It’s all on him now. I love him, and want him to be okay, but I love Mister a lot more, and if it’s better for Mister’s well being to let his brother choose whether to sink or swim, which I believe it is, I stand with Mister on that and will back him up all day, every day. And I say that even though our relationship is kind of in shambles right now. I have an appointment with my therapist tomorrow. I hope she gets some good rest tonight, because Imma need her to be on her p’s and q’s tomorrow. I’ve been talking to her in my head for a few days now lol. I’ve told DS that I’m in therapy again, because I don’t want him and DD to think I’m just telling them what to do when I tell them they should go talk to somebody, and I want them to know that I walk what I talk. I haven’t shared why I’m going, because that’s not the point. Anyway, this morning, I mentioned to DS that I’m so out of sorts that I’ve been talking to my therapist in my head for a few days, and him being him, he asked me in a serious tone “well, what did she say”, which made me laugh. I told him I never gave her a chance to say anything, so she ain’t said shit yet. I’ll let her talk tomorrow lol.
This is my child that will say crazy stuff and sound like he is so very serious. Like he told DD when she had just got her driver’s license and was nervous about driving her BF’s big boat of a car down a narrow, 2 lane street, that if she drove faster the car would get more narrow. He said it with a straight face, like it was fact, and DD was like “wait, WHAT”. DD told me the story first, and DS confirmed later that he did say that. So that’s just the kind of stuff he does, and one of the ways his sense of humor works. If you don’t know him, and he says something crazy like that, you might think he’s just stupid. But he’s far from stupid, he just has a weird sense of humor.
Last week, he was over here and convinced me to try to learn a dance routine with him, from a video I love on FB. While we were trying, I told him I learn better standing behind the person dancing, and mimicking their moves, instead of facing them, like we were facing the dancers on my IPad. So I said we should put the IPad on the opposite side of the room so I could be behind them. I wouldn’t have said something like that to anyone besides DS, because most people would’ve thought I was serious and just stupid, but I figured he would get it, because that’s the kind of crazy stuff he says, and even still he paused, like WHAT?!, before he started laughing.
On a serious note, I have been journaling, and trying to narrow down the main things I want to address tomorrow, so I’m not just rambling and all over the place, while she struggles just to keep up, and I end up not getting anything useful out of the session. She seems committed to actually giving me guidance and tools that I can actually use in my life, vs just being a safe place for me to vent, which has been my experience with therapy so far. So I have to do my part, to help her do her job, and give her specific things I need her to help me with. At least, that’s my goal now, and how I’ve come to see the point of therapy, after having tried it off and on over the last 15 years and never getting much out of it.

I got the sad news today that a longtime para that DS used to work with in our school system is struggling with long Covid. She is continuing to fight, but she's dealing with a lot of different issues, including loss of hearing, which no one knows if it is temporary or permanent. She has the sweetest personality, and although she is now retired, it saddens me that such a kind person is dealing with so much.

I’ve told this story before, so please feel free to scroll past it since I’m repeating myself. Way before COVID, long enough ago that it seems like another life now, I worked in operations at a bank. It was my first job after my ex husband and I separated, after having been a SAHM while we we married. The department I worked in, was solely dedicated to processing checks made payable to a corporation that had a huge presence in the area. The mailroom, where people opened the billing statements and payments, and the data entry side, where we keyed the payments, were in one big area, where one side was visible to the other. I worked on the data entry side. There was a middle aged woman, older than me (I was in my mid 20’s at the time), probably in her 40’s, that had been recently hired to work in the mailroom, and wanted to come work on the side I worked in, because that side was full time and had benefits like health insurance. The mailroom side was part time, with no benefits. She was a black woman that had a good job until she got sick with some illness that caused her to lose her hearing. She lost her job in the aftermath of her illness, and took the first job that hired her after she got better, except for her hearing loss, which was in the mailroom at that department at the bank. I don’t even remember how I got to know her and her story, because even though it was a huge, open space where we could all see each other, the 2 different sides did not mingle with each other at all. In hindsight, I guess there was a reason we somehow got to know each other. I remember one night, it was storming very badly when we were coming to work, and when she got to work, she asked me to call her Mom for her, to let her Mom know that she’d made it to work safely, despite the bad storms. I had 2 supervisors at the time, working different days, because our operation was 24/7, 365 days/year, to get this one company’s money in their bank accounts ASAP. I am just stating facts, and not trying to say anything other than what I know for sure happened. One of my supervisors was White, and the deaf employee was Black. That supervisor seemed to be a good person overall. But it ruffled my feathers when she said that she didn’t want to fool with the deaf employee coming to work on our side of the department, because it would be too difficult to train her. The deaf employee had learned to read lips well enough that as long as you were facing her during a conversation, it wasn’t much different from talking to a person who could hear, except she might ask if she was talking too loud. So it pissed me off that that supervisor acted like the lady was dumb, instead of just deaf. So I asked my other supervisor, who was a Black woman, if I could train the deaf lady to do my job, so she could come work on our side, even if it meant me staying late, after my shift ended. She said yes, I could do that. So that’s what I did, on the nights that particular supervisor worked. I trained her, and stayed late many days to show her how to do what I did. It wasn’t difficult, the employee wasn’t a dummy, you just had to make sure she could see your face so she could read your lips when you were talking to her. She was excellent at that. The only thing was, like I said before, since she couldn’t hear herself talking, she would often ask if she was talking too loud, which she never was, which I guess was from all the years that she could hear, and the habits from monitoring herself back then, idk. Anyway, she was successful at learning my job, and quickly. When she got a job working on my side of the department, because she excelled at it once I’d taught her how to do it, where she was full time and had benefits, she cried real tears and hugged me tight and told me how grateful she was that I’d helped her get the job. I was very happy for her, and valued how she told and showed me how much she appreciated me, but I didn’t feel like I’d really done anything special, I’d just treated her with kindness, stood up for her, and just did what I felt was right. I treated her the same way I would like to be treated. In some ways, depending on the circumstances, I do feel like “I am my brother’s keeper” when it comes to certain things. I do admit though, that the devil in me made me really want to prove a point to the supervisor that said it would be too much trouble to teach her the job. I’d never disliked that supervisor before then, but that really pissed me off, and I was glad that the other supervisor did not think the same way, which meant I ended up respecting one more than the other. None of that has anything to do with what you posted, it’s just a trip down memory lane.

I stumbled onto the first night or The Voice, and tuned in. Reba McIntyre is taking up "the country voice" as Blake Shelton ducked out after last season. I ❤️ Reba, so I was already likely to tune in this season. well, sorry for the spoiler, but rhe first singer that gets aired tonight? 33yo lady who strolls in and just nails "Fancy" she turns all 4 chairs, and the other three judges try to plead their cases why she should choose them. please, children, sit TF down. haha.

TheOtherMe I am sorry to hear you’re still struggling with covid. Am I remembering correctly that this is your second bout? I don’t like it at all that it sounds like it’s more severe Yes, I had it on March of 2022. I mostly slept for 4 or 5 days and it was over. Not as lucky this time.

Good morning, sagacious and supportive invisipeeps, keeping the lights on the world over. Welcome to Tuesday. I hope your day goes smoothly and that you enjoy sipping something delicious. And I hope, TheOtherMe, you feel better. And you, too, The Walk of the Penguin Mich--that fall could have been dangerous. What news, jerseygirl, on having more treatments? And is jerseyguy doing better now? I hope so. Today is the day DD moves next door. She and we have been getting things ready, boxing up the stuff she had out and planning for the great Relay of the Cats. Need to move them from the basement before the movers take the things out of the basement, so they won't escape, while keeping them from escaping the new digs, too. The movers are also my handyman and his helper and they do understand about the cats. I believe it will go well. They are also installing a grab bar in the shower today. It was raining all day yesterday yet again. No sun to take pictures of. So I looked back in my files and found this shot, taken exactly one year ago:

Today will be the 4th day in a row that I cooked for dinner. DH needs to acknowledge that I am trying to get back to some semblance of "normal".
We have been mostly grazing while we are working on things. Cheese and crackers, pizza rolls, sandwiches, etc.

ok. Now that may be my favorite, finn. I am having a day I didn't plan on having. Which I am finding to be rather irksome. I haven't heard yet from the job I reapplied to. I'm not sure how to take that. I will see how the day unfolds.

We have been in the low 60s with (much needed) rain during the day since Friday with lows in the low 50s at night., which looks like will continue until Sunday. And back into the 70s next week.

I’m in the midst of making dummy proof instructions for a couple of accounts. If this person doesn’t get it, I feel like she’s going to be fired. She was already taken off another set of accounts. She was given a task to do and goofed that up recently. Now I get her to take over something that I’ve been doing temporarily and had NO instructions. It was up to me to figure out.
If she wasn’t friends with a co-worker, I think they would have already fired her. Hopefully I’m wrong but…

Hubs and I are on the same page again. He is talking about moving again after telling me he doesn't want to. He knows what we need to do for DD's future so I'm sure that is part of it. I'm not pressing him, just smiled and agreed.
He liked working with the inspector for the post office yesterday, they found one critical item a wire that could shock someone, so hubs is fixing that. He also cleaned a gutter out and fixed a small piece of metal on the roof that could cause a leak so good in a way. That was all I heard about so far. I'm not filling out all the money transfer pages for the rent till we know for sure they are still taking it. Then I will. So I need a signed off inspection report.
I know we can look out further from Olympia, WA and find more house for the money. We want 3 bedrooms, a decent garage for hubs, and an acre or less really. They come up sometimes around Olympia but you have to be ready to act fast. We could go toward Lacey, Shelton, or Rochester, but I don't really want to. I want to be close to the kids, retail, and hospitals, for as we age all this is important to me. I no longer want to live 40 miles away from a major hospital. But we will see, we will go driving, see the areas, and take our time. We both agreed 1800 to 2000 sq ft is just fine for us. I would love to have one pop up with a small greenhouse too, they are all over up there. I don't think hubs would ever add one though.
But saying that we still have tons to do here. Hubs is having the junk hauler person back and get rid of a lot more, he said likely another truck load. Can't believe he is doing that. He has stuff around he kept for repairs of houses and equipment.
Ok, washing DD's hair and see if we have a dental appointment at 11.

First day back went great. I know how lucky I am that so far this has worked out but I don't feel like I just had surgery. I'm still taking it easy and I'm prepared that things could change but everything so far is great.
That said I absolutely hate needing so much help. Getting the kids to and from school and activities is a decent amount of help we had accounted for. Add in all the little things - dc bike is out of whack and needs to go to the repair shop - I need someone to take us there and it changes the school help plan. The check engine light comes on in the van and is shaking when idling, so we need someone to meet dh at the autoshop to drop it off and pick it up, check that can't be deposited through the mobile app. It's humbling to say the least. 8 more days.

Planning on driving today, first time since surgery. Just 5 miles to get pierogis, med for Jerseyguy and drop 2 records at the PO.
