Home from a football weekend. It was a good game but I was struggling after while waiting for traffic to die down. Everywhere I turned people were smoking. Tears were running down my face. My chest still hurts today.
My sister in law has offered to feed us dinner. Hoping to feel better tomorrow.

I want to make goulash soup today and have most, but not all ingredients. I knew this yesterday when I was out for another errand but I had forgotten that the weekend is the annual Art and Wine festival. The festival is in our Central Park, across the road from the store. The parking lot looked very full (people circling) so I drove right on past the store. Now I have to go to TJs and Sprouts to get the missing items, but I am so comfy right now... The tribulations I have to go through just to get my soup. Off to the stores it is.

well, I didn't get as much done as I wanted to today, but whatever. after the last week of anything from drizzly to near-hurricane strength winds and rain, I just wanted to be outside and breathe fresh air as the season gets shorter. I pulled the stakes around the patch of new grass out back, and retrieved the outdoor dog bed from the shed for LD. Punk is actually sprawled out on it right now, pouting in her sleep. I so hate that I can't go walk her, without him losing his mind. at least when I hit the beach for a bit over the holiday, he was still on pain meds, so he just zonked out. he's not on pain meds anymore.... I also went and bought 2pr of grippy 'utility gloves' at the Job Lot to replace the ones that got infested with larvae of some sort that I threw out the other day when I packed up the potential projectiles. I didn't actually pull any weeds today, and tomorrow's going to be another monsoon so it will be awhile again. I may still pull out the leaf blower to clear the junk out from around the fence gate.

I cleaned around the top of the countertop in the kitchen. I thought the top edge was just paint or something, egads, it was dirt. I had ammonia in the water so took it right off. Got the windows washed inside. Hubs had to help with one. The people before put new windows in all the windows except one?? It's kind of hard to get up and down, but has a storm window. So we took it apart to clean it. I caulked all around the baseboard in the living room and vacced, its done. In a very old house like that the baseboard doesn't always seal flush to the wall. Heck, some new houses don't and they do the same thing. It makes everything looked finished.
I looked at the bedrooms and see a few places I will seal. But I got tired today and dribbled some caulk on the carpet and decided that's when you stop before you make a big mess. I also wiped out the fridge. It's going to look really nice.
I most likely won't work over there tomorrow but will the rest of the week if needed. Hubs is going to wash the windows on the outside. If I would buckle down and work a whole day, I could finish it. I also want to rake a bunch of the lawn around the porches, there's debris around them.
Than we need to go to the mobile, we looked at it today and its dirty. Hubs said something about renting it and I said no. I'm not doing it anymore. I just don't want to deal with other peoples dirt any longer. We are thinking of putting it up for sale, for $5k, and they move it. It's in very good condition, never leaked couple of year old AC, the other central went out. Will come with W/D, fridge, and stove. I think it's a 90's or
something. But his cousin bought it for his mom and she took very good care of it, she was very clean. We replaced the carpet with carpet squares, last year. But its a problem renting mobiles, they attract a different type of people. We have lived in mobiles and a lot of good people do. But renting them seems like it attracts a certain crowd here. It's also a problem trying to sell a house with one in the yard. We have had that problem before.
I had leftover salmon cakes and stewed apples for dinner. DD had leftover spaghetti, the same hubs is going to have. So that will be done for this night. Need to take a bath and fix my hair.
And I need to finish reading the contract and start gathering the documents, I have them.

Waiting for Chinese Food to go. I was at DH’s office to get a CC feed added to my Quickbooks account. It is set up. Had to call the bank 800# 2x. I just have to go back and reconcile to beginning of year.

Imma going to go ahead and put most of Mister’s family in the same boat as the majority of my mom's family. I'm really upset for Mister. I so understand. Well, the good thing is his cousin that did come over made himself right at home and was a lot of fun, enough that OD and YD sat at the kitchen table chatting for a couple of hours with us. They usually stay in the back of the house whenever we have guests. The funeral Wednesday was my first time meeting him, and I liked his personality as soon as he introduced himself to me, so I told Mister to make sure he invited him when Mister decided to BBQ. And one of my cousins ended up coming over after I posted a picture of the shoulder I was cooking on FB. I hadn’t seen him since we first met at our family reunion in New Orleans over 20 years ago, but we’ve stayed in touch since then. He and one of his friends came by. They didn’t stay long, but I was glad to see him. They didn’t even eat, when the picture of the shoulder was what got him over here lol. It was fine, Mister and I were tired, just with those few guests lol. We very rarely have guests. DS was there, but I don’t consider him or the girls as guests. Now we have a boat load of food we need to try to get rid of. We’ll probably end up freezing a lot of it. Freezing the extra food is a great idea. It will make preparing meals easier, in the future. You may as well get the benefit of all you and Mister's efforts and expense.

I moved in here two months ago and barely have any pictures hung. That's because I need help figuring out where to put the nail in and also I hate getting on even short ladders. But I couldn't take it any more. So I did the one over the fireplace, one over my bed, a few in the hall bath, and so on. But then one fell in the bath, breaking the frame. It was a cheap frame, but now I have to buy 2 more. Grr. So I quit. I like how the fireplace mantle turned out, though.

My longer than 10 year love affair with Sprouts is over, over, over. They should be honest and just rename themselves to "Who!e Foods Wannabees" we got the prices already.
I passed up all but two items (which I needed for the soup) and went to TJs. Now I am sorry I even bought those two items as TJs was cheaper for each and every fresh veggie/fruit on the shelves.
But be that as it may, it is time to get myself to the kitchen and try out this recipe. I have been looking for a good one for quite a while and the ingredients/proportions look right in this one.

I don't like getting on my 2 step, stool anymore, when I'm alone. I'm afraid I will lose my balance, reaching for something. Your new place is looking nice. I hope you are still happy you moved.

I’m not all that creative myself, so I enjoy seeing what other people do with their homes.

We started buying more of our fruits and vegetables from Sprouts after we moved closer to one, and a few times I’ve been less than impressed with the appearance of their vegetables. I’ve seen you all talk about Trader Joe’s for years, but I’ve never been inside one. I didn’t even know there was one in the area until a couple years ago.

DH and I took DS on his first college visit today.
we went to LeMoyne in Syracuse, a small Jesuit school in Syracuse. He seemed to really like it. Then we went to SUNY Oswego. I wasn’t as impressed. The campus is huge (although very pretty since it’s on the shore of Lake Ontario). And it’s right next to a nuclear power plant.
We still are going to look at St Lawrence, Clarkson, Syracuse, and SUNY Plattsburgh.
DD was talking about colleges last night. She seems to have her heart set on RPI.

And yesterday my friend needed help getting her boat hoist out of the river. Her son and a few buddies usually do it but he’s gone to,college this fall.
I brought DS with me and we had issues. DS went to get DH and it was still hard. I was so exhausted I needed a nap lol. And today I’m pretty sore.

Ugh the oven coil caught fire. Need to research replacement VS getting a new one. Our current one is at least 13 years old.
I swear the house is trying to kill us this year or at least bankrupt us.
Can't wait to see what else decides to blow up.

Cleaning, cooking, and working the 2nd job today. Hoping it'll be a slow day on that front. I'm so frustrated with dh. I know he wants to help, but the few things I ask him to do he waits so long to do that I end up doing myself. He's not thinking things through. Washer broken = laundromat = household laundry not individual. I've stated this explicitly. But he didn't put his stuff with the loads I took last night. When I called him he was already leaving the house and said he did it on purpose- he didn't want me to have to do his laundry. But it doesn't actually help me for him to spend 2 hours at the laundromat today when I just spent 2 hours there last night. If he had said - he'd do everyone's laundry today - that would fucking help. He has grand ideas that he's actually going to overhaul his entire side of the bedroom that is threatening to take over, buy a recliner, rearrange and set up the bedroom so that I can choose between the bed or recliner but he literally has today, and I just don't see that it's possible. He's a smart guy. He has a hard job that requires critical thinking skills and hes the go-to guy for how to do the really hard stuff of his hard stuff. So I can't figure out why he can't see this really obvious stuff. And unfortunately I'm out of patience to even try. It is so frustrating, isn’t it? Some very smart and capable people can’t replicate that it in everyday situations, home front especially. You would think it’s the best place to use their magic powers but somehow it just doesn’t work. I don’t know the answer but I want to let you know I sympathize with you. Would your sister be available to help out while you’re recovering from the surgery? Hang in there 🤗 The funny part is dh will be awesome post surgery especially with all the prep work done. Not that I'll need critical care support, but that is where he thrives and he'll wait on me as if I do need that kind of assistance. To be fair to him, he made a bigger dent in the bedroom than I thought possible. I can walk on his side of the bed which makes things exponentially easier. But dsis will come over the first day dh goes back to work, and my folks are amazing. My village is larger than most. I'm very grateful.

OMG! That was SO good....and only takes about 7 minutes to make! The hardest thing was chopping up the garlic and parsley, which isn't hard at all.

Can't wait to see what else decides to blow up. If it's an electric oven, they are pretty inexpensive to replace. And easy too. Our old oven seemed to eat them.

Can't wait to see happened else decides to blow up. If you don't already have a source I've had good luck with RepairClinic.com. In addition to selling parts they also are a good source for troubleshooting and I even found schematics for my stackable. Plus everything is returnable for a year.

I want to change out some pictures I have hanging on the walls but I am afraid to get on the 2 step ladder to do it.
So the stuff I no longer want on my walls is still there.

That looks awesome- thank you! Nicer than the ones he was looking at so he'll be excited. And so many fun things on their site.
