Mister got in a mood late this afternoon, so I have mostly stayed out of his way. I detected the mood when he was leaving home to take OD a comforter she asked for. While he was gone, DS and I tried to learn a couple of dances from some FB videos, one of them is a line dance. DS can dance, me not so much, but I can usually do line dances. I’ve been wanting to learn this line dance for a long time. This one was too complicated for me though, I kept getting stuck at the exact same point lol. The other dance was just a video I like of 2 guys dancing, DS said learn it. I knew damn well…. But I tried anyway. It was fun. Imma surprise him one day and be able to do both. Maybe. We were still trying when Mister got home. I ended up asking him what happened to change his mood, he said OD wanted that comforter and the light bulb went off in my head, the comforter was in the room his Dad use to sleep in over here, and I was right, Mister has been avoiding that room since his Dad passed. I asked if it would help if I made the bed, rearranged the furniture, what could I do to help, and of the the answer was nothing, he’ll take care of it. He gets on my nerves with that strong, silent type shit and never needing anything from me.

I know, I still climb ladders, only tilted over one and landed on both feet on the ground. Talk about lucky. Well there was the one I slipped off of in the bathroom at the Washington house and bruised my thigh, but that doesn't count, LOL!
I'm getting those crazy sqiggly lines in my eyes tonight, haven't had that for quite some time. I wanted to read, may have to go to bed instead.
Have to get up at 7:30 in the morning to get DD to the dentist at 9 so better get to bed.

Close but not quite. I have been chatting with DB1 and, according to him what my recipe lacked is some kind of herbal mixture he always puts in. One guess what will be in my luggage when I return from vacation come January. I WILL get that perfect gulash soup.

OMG! That was SO good....and only takes about 7 minutes to make! The hardest thing was chopping up the garlic and parsley, which isn't hard at all. Recipe please? It's this one, but I tweaked it. I used broth instead of water for more flavour, and added a touch of lime for freshness. Oh, and I added green onions at the end. www.thelittlekitchen.net/white-wine-and-olive-oil-steamed-mussels/

Lots of different spices and herbs are added to the broth including the sweet Hungarian paprika (of course) plus caraway seeds, marjoram, dry thyme, parsley, garlic and bay leaves.

DH and I took DS on his first college visit today. we went to LeMoyne in Syracuse, a small Jesuit school in Syracuse. He seemed to really like it. Then we went to SUNY Oswego. I wasn’t as impressed. The campus is huge (although very pretty since it’s on the shore of Lake Ontario). And it’s right next to a nuclear power plant. We still are going to look at St Lawrence, Clarkson, Syracuse, and SUNY Plattsburgh. DD was talking about colleges last night. She seems to have her heart set on RPI. How in the heck did your DS get old enough to look at colleges? I remember years ago when you posted about being concerned about your kids walking to school.

I think I got everything on my list done for once. It wasn't a very long list to be honest, but with a broken washer and a forgotten baby shower I'm still impressed with myself.
The only exception being that my mom and I only made egg rolls and didn't get to potato burritos. I'll see if I can make those tonight, but I am training tonight and tomorrow so it may not happen.
Now I'm just wishing for sleep.

Good morning, handy and busy invisipeeps, working on your dinners and homes. Welcome to Monday. Monday, can't trust that day. I hope you emerge in the evening from the day unscathed and unbruised and ready to relax. Today it's supposed to rain all day pretty much. It hasn't started yet, but should any minute. I'm weighing if it's worth getting dressed for dog-walking or will that be a wasted effort. We don't go in the rain. I've decided to spend M, W and F on photography and T, Th on writing, to keep both fires burning.I'll see how it goes. Setting up a FB page today for photography, then sorting works to prepare for the show this weekend. Yesterday was a very calm weather day. I took this shot early enough that the sun was just beginning to color a patch in the sky's edge, and not yet tinted the world, which is why everything is gray and black. It's peaceful.

Weekend was ok, but man it ended too fast. Rained all day yesterday. Went to a small gathering at mom's for nephew's 7th birthday. Mom seems to be doing better. I only stayed about an hour and a half - that was my hard stop on being around BIL. He is just too obnoxious and narcissistic.

I've been pondering the last couple weeks, why it is that I'm up and moving on weekends by 6 or 7, and that Monday rolls around and I'll hit snooze in my sleep for 2h. take today, for instance. I'm still in bed, listening to the steady rain. well, and the 🤬 construction trucks.
oh, and my sister tested covid positive this am. she said she felt like she got hit by a train over the weekend. she teaches at the boarding HS with kids from around the world. they all moved in last week.

raeoflyte, not sure when your surgery is scheduled, but I know it's soon. Best of luck for a successful surgery and quick, easy recovery.

I moved in here two months ago and barely have any pictures hung. That's because I need help figuring out where to put the nail in and also I hate getting on even short ladders. But I couldn't take it any more. So I did the one over the fireplace, one over my bed, a few in the hall bath, and so on. But then one fell in the bath, breaking the frame. It was a cheap frame, but now I have to buy 2 more. Grr. So I quit. I like how the fireplace mantle turned out, though. That's lovely! I moved in a year ago and still have stuff not hung on the walls, or just hung on top of a nail set in the wall by the previous owner. And then I had a second door between the living room and office closed up to make the living room fireplace wall more balanced, with plans to add shelving to both sides of the fireplace. So now my office needs to be repainted, and in the process of trying to make it more livable in the meantime, I decided the place I had hung my race medal rack isn't working. Of course I have some lovely wall anchors in that place that I'll have to pry out and fill. Just a few more anchors for removal to add to the anchors placed by the previous owners.

Had a propane delivery this morning. $492 at $3.90/gallon. Wish we could bill our electric company cause we only use propane when electricity is out. Maybe I should try??

Loan was approved we can proceed with the furnace repair.
We would have regardless but this way we don't have to drain our cash reserves in one shot. I only have to use a little bit to get us through the end of the year. Then debt starts to drop off and I can cash flow the payment.
I think repairing the stove is the better bet. DH keeps insisting on new but we are already dropping $5k on a furnace which is a NEED if we don't want to die in our sleep. A new stove is nice but not a need. I don't care that my stove doesn't look great I just want it to work. I'll look up the model parts when I get home. Just because DH is not mechanically inclined doesn't mean I can't teach myself or have my dad help.
If I really want to I can clean it to be almost brand new looking and probably should at some point.
Doing it this way maybe I can save up for one of those awesome dual stoves Gwen and I have been drooling over.
I however DO NOT need a $5k oven with port/starboard attachments, Wifi and whatever else it had. Good grief I just want to cook on it not take into outer space!

I had to research. Looks like the east coast is always the most expensive for LP since it's so far from the source and transportation costs drive the price up. Although, I'm not sure why the same isn't for California and the PNW unless they are getting their propane from somewhere other than the Midwest or Texas. I suppose just a lot less demand too.

www.afamilyfeast.com/beef-goulash-soup/ Thank you weltz. I will most certainly try this recipe but I am trying to recreated a goulash soup we (it was a family vacation) had in Graz, Austria. I am not even sure whether it is that specific recipe or the memory of the taste I am chasing. It is all so long ago -more than half a century. And after I have this it will be on to Klagenfurt and Serbische Bohnensuppe. My youth through soups LOL

I put "Contagion" on for background noise. It is freaky how much of that movie came true.

Trying to get the farming stuff sorted out here. Had a discussion with the crop insurance lady about SSNs being sensitive; her assistant promptly posted both mine and DH’s on a docusign thingy that was not even password protected Also on the near-future docket: call and argue with TIAA some more about cost basis and method for non-covered shares. It may actually be a good thing that the original donation request didn’t go through. Either way I’d like the cost basis they have recorded to be associated with the specific lots by the time I inevitably give up and roll the whole shebang over to Fidelity. Nice weekend here that included apple and raspberry picking and pies. Need to go reactivate our science center membership too.

Pieces have been replaced on it, and will continue to be replaced until they are no longer available. While we were gone, it croaked so my sister ordered and installed the lower element. While we were on the cruise, I took a couple of cooking classes and got a chance to try out induction cook tops. Until then, I was all about getting rid of our stove and going gas. After the first class, I’m firmly in the induction camp now.
