I asked hubs about going out to dinner. I was hugging him so felt him kind of sigh. I said oh we don't have to, just thought we could. He said I like going but there just isn't any place around here anymore where the food is that good. He is right, its just so so. I like Petty Pit Stop, but I just get a salad there and DD biscuits and gravy, so kind of our lunch place.
So I said what about spaghetti and meat balls, that was a big plus from hubs and DD. So I made some good meatballs, still have some home canned sauce and angel hair pasta. I also found some breadsticks in the freezer so it was good. I do need to buy some romano cheese, we like that bite you get from it. We have enough left for lunch and dinner tomorrow night. Did I say I cooked to much? Well I did, guess I thought son was coming, LOL! I wish I had made a small salad but didn't, will tomorrow night.
So I managed to use a quart of spaghetti sauce and a pint of seasoned sauce I home canned too. I brought up a jar of pickled beets I did a couple years ago. I decided to stew some of the free apples. They have been sitting there several days and have ripened nicely, they are really sweet now. I ate to many and they are big this year. I peeled 3 and hubs and I ate those. I also made my stewed ones. I had some left over light syrup I made last time I canned apples and had processed it so I used a quart on the apples. Another item used up. I'm getting ready to eat some of those, hope I don't get the runs as I have eaten a lot of apples this afternoon but they are so good and totally organic. I think we are pretty full. I still am not craving the foods I used to eat, but if I do want something, trying to eat low cal, bulky items so I'm not hungry.
Pink, that picture of the meat you grilled is mouthwatering. I can still almost taste it, bet it was wonderful, enjoy.

It is hot in here. I cleaned out the loose stuff in the oven and turned on self cleaning. It takes 3 hours and that last hour, wowzee, it heated it up in here to 79. I think I will open the door, won't be able to sleep tonight though it is 63 out.
I think I'm rambling need to watch a telly show or continue reading on book 2 of Lethal Rain.

TheOtherMe , are you following your college's football team at all? I have them on BLOCK. I do not like what is happening at Colorado and I'm afraid they are keeping our precious 95 year old Peggy so busy, she's going to end up sick. I know she loves all the attention and is lonely since her sister died, but they are using that poor woman for publicity. I hope she is getting paid something. She lives in a very modest home.

I busted my ass until about 1 this afternoon and have been in complete slug mode since. A long nap and a marathon of movies mainly. I should go to bed, but started another.

Good morning, founts of understanding and support in Y Ma'am. I hope your Sunday welcomes you to a day of ease and hedonism as the last of summer fades into autumn. It's a good time, as it always is, for ice cream. And mums. Like chiver78 commented, tropical storm Lee disappeared with a whimper leaving only a few small branches and leaves down. We are supposed to get rain starting tonight and going on all day tomorrow. As long as next Saturday is clear enough--we have another fair then, in a small beach town nearby that does this annually to support their firefighters. They end with fireworks on the beach. It typically attracts a good crowd. DD is over the bug she had. I'm glad about that. I need to nudge DH to call his nephrologist and make appointments. It's looking like October will be the best time for surgery for him, or maybe November. I don't know. I want him to be well and he's--not. Franklin the Dog and I walked yesterday at dusk down by the marinas just west of our house. We saw the setting sun light up the boats' windows.

azucena - recommendations for a starter model 3d printer? Ds has asked for 1 for printing minis which I can get behind. I think he could print some for friends to cover costs/make money. Dh is camping with my brother thru today but I have text drafted to send when he's awake. I know he'll be able to share great info for you. Feel free to bug me in a couple days if I drop this.

Finally had some hours free and got off my butt and weeded the front landscaping which I has let go thru the summer heat but the weeds thrived bc we had just enough rain. Filled 3 trash cans.
Have one bush in the side yard that is overtaken by some kind of weedy bush inside it. We cut it fully back in May when we put in new windows...the weedy part had grown over my head. Cut it all down to knee level. It's so thick and deep to dig it out. Will take hours. What can I put on it to kill it first? Don't need to grow anything there for a while bc it's not needed for privacy in the back corner of our house.

azucena I generally stay organic in my yard, but I do make exceptions. Make a fresh cut, and apply brush killer with a paintbrush directly onto the branches/stems you just cut. I also get those foam ended brush things that are like five for a dollar and just throw them away.

11AM, I am moving, fed DD and having a cup of coffee, will have some stewed apples with it.
Hubs went to the house to fill an area below the back step, we think its a trip hazard. The area has sunk a bit so he is just making it level. I'm going to spend some time over there and try to finish today. If I don't I have all week except Monday only day with appointments. Of course when we put it up for sale we will need to vac, mop, and clean windows again. I'm also ordering curtains today.
Wednesday we are going to lunch with his classmates, they have get togethers in town for lunch with their classmates, we go if we are around. It's nice, but they are losing people too, sadly. Of course none during covid and it kind of slowed down. People are going again. But seems like quite a few people around here are getting covid again, not good.
I do need to gather what the buyer of the PO needs, they are putting a $5k earnest money deposit down. Need to read all of the contract, though most is just boilerplate. Need to pay our fall taxes, and missed my deposit time for the 3rd installment of state taxes, so need to work on that stuff this evening.
I'm starting to get back in gear, I'm doing my, you can be as happy as you want to be mode.
Hubs is in a good mood today too, which is important to me. He ordered the piece for my mower and he managed to get the brush hauled back to the burn pile with patching it 3 times, but he got it there. A ball dealie had broken, he said just wore out from wear, the mower is at least 11 years old. Kubota's are really good mowers.
Ok, out of here, another load of laundry will be in. Boy do I need to clean here this week. Will put my robot on duty, it helps control the cat hair, but I need to do more, like mopping. Oh and there is that thing I don't like, dusting. Well the most obvious is under the TV in here to I did that.

I wish this house didn't have such a big yard. If not we could keep it and the other one and travel back and forth. But this is a lot of work to keep up. Now I know why the lady sold it. You have to pick up limbs quite often and hubs keeps after the moles to keep the lawn nice. If he didn't it would be nothing but bumps.
I hate to let this beautiful place go, we sure won't have comparable up there. Decisions, decisions

Baked an apple pie and sliced the rest of the apples I'll use for baking later today. Taught. Off to run some errands. I'm on dinner duty tonight. Ribs, cauliflower, corn bread, and apple pie for dessert. I think the shade I for our bedroom is a bit too orangy. I'm either going to love it or hate it. I don't want to paint it and hate it. Football is on soon. I am excited to watch it again.

Just sat down with a cup of coffee and my ipad. Dogs walked and fed, my sister off to church. Today’s gonna be an eggs Benedict sort of day, I’ll start it when I finish my coffee.
Harriet needs some lap time when 8 get up, so she makes herself comfortable on me. I think Sheldon is jealous, so he gets up on me too. In the meantime, I can’t move. I guess it’s a good thing I don’t need to!

However, I'd want to be closer to my children more than I'd want a big yard.

The hoopla is that she never leaves a game. I used to go to the games. They did leave when they were horrible. Peggy and Betty used to attend all of the graduation ceremonies for the athletes. I would guess they still do. They support the student athletes of every sport, not just football. She has said she can't travel to bowls any more but I bet they figure out a way to get her to a bowl game if CU gets there. Still I won't be watching any football games this season.

My husband doesn't like the idea of incontinence either. The sexual part is not a concern. But neither he nor I want to go the radiation way, they said if they do than they can't go back and do surgery. So he is opting for that. I just think he sees DD with problems and I am having issues, no pants yet though. I get up in the morning and can't hold the urine and get my jams soaked on the way to the bathroom and have to change many mornings, it is likely to get worse. It is just humiliating, if you know what I mean.I don't know but he seems to be moving forward with us selling and moving. I will not jump to any conclusions and assume he will have surgery no matter what. Why don't you wear one of those Poise pads to bed? There's no shame in that. Lots of women wear them due to pelvic floor collapse during childbirth, leading to incontinence.

Well, the good thing is his cousin that did come over made himself right at home and was a lot of fun, enough that OD and YD sat at the kitchen table chatting for a couple of hours with us. They usually stay in the back of the house whenever we have guests. The funeral Wednesday was my first time meeting him, and I liked his personality as soon as he introduced himself to me, so I told Mister to make sure he invited him when Mister decided to BBQ. And one of my cousins ended up coming over after I posted a picture of the shoulder I was cooking on FB. I hadn’t seen him since we first met at our family reunion in New Orleans over 20 years ago, but we’ve stayed in touch since then. He and one of his friends came by. They didn’t stay long, but I was glad to see him. They didn’t even eat, when the picture of the shoulder was what got him over here lol. It was fine, Mister and I were tired, just with those few guests lol. We very rarely have guests. DS was there, but I don’t consider him or the girls as guests. Now we have a boat load of food we need to try to get rid of. We’ll probably end up freezing a lot of it.

Found a small bookcase at the thrift store.
Abby has been complaining she doesn't have enough room for her books. This little case is just the right size.
Which hopefully translates into some more room on my bookcase in the sun room so double win.

I finally finished digging up the hell strip in my front yard. I should have finished probably in July, but it has been an excessively hot summer. I ordered liriope/lily turf/monkey grass starts from Etsy, so should be able to get it planted out next weekend. I'm just so damn happy to have the hard part done!

Beef stew is in a slow oven, stewing(!!) It should be good. The gravy ingredients include tomato paste, cocoa, espresso--I used coffee, brown sugar, garlic, beer and stock; salt and pepper. And a couple of other things will be added once I take it out, like Worcestershire sauce, lemon and balsamic vinegar.
