Ugh.  Yesterday the middle school was temporarily locked down because a body was found in the community pool next door (used to be the school swimming pool way back in the 70s).

Turns out it was the body of a 12 year old, a recent student to the middle school.  Gwen said current update is that a bunch of boys jumped the pool fence.  They pushed the kid into the deep end and when he couldn't swim the panicked and fled.

IDK how much truth there is to that but still.   An email went out about 10 minutes after the body was found about there was a student death so it wasn't hard to put it together.   How sad.

holy hell, DQ. we've got a couple squirrely cases around here these days, one is a drowning of a kid that couldn't swim....at a house party where he may have gotten pushed in. what TF is wrong with people?

I have several lunch dates in the next couple of weeks with people I have not seen for quite a while due to their and my traveling.
And, most importantly, all my family (blood and adopted) and most of my friends are healthy and doing well. I would love it if all of my virtual village people here join that group 

Now off to find my latest electricity bill to reinstate my library card - for some reason they like that better as proof of residency than something like my driver's licence

My kids get mad at me when I exercise veto power on swimming.  They can swim to an extent but kids are dumb impulsive panicky animals.    If it is not a place with life guards or there won't be sufficient adults around either I/DH go with you or you don't go at all.   It's not worth it and the above is why.  It only takes one stupid incident.

I went with Abby to her first hotel pool party.  Abby was annoyed with me but the parents' of the birthday girl said I was welcome to stay.  One more adult with eyes on the pool is always welcome.

finnime, I am so sorry about the bad news. Hopefully your DH does well with dialysis. I know you’ve been relieved to be able to move closer to family, they will be there for both of you in body while we’ll be there for you in spirit. Hang in there 🤗 

NastyWoman, I am grateful for the good news! Good weather, HOA that takes care of business, meeting up with friends, most everyone being in good health. It’s nice to be able to see there’s good stuff in life with so many sad updates from many people here. Thank you for sharing 🤗

So very sad. That poor boy and his family. And those boys and their families. And all of the friends in school and neighborhood.
When my kids were in middle school there were several student deaths, it was always very stressful for the kids and the whole community.

Try rescue remedy.  You can get it at natural stores or a pet store.  The pet version is perfectly safe for humans to take.  It's all natural herbal supplement.  It will help with temporarily calming you down.

Son: I scored 4 tickets to Taylor Swift concert for favorite niece (DIL’s niece) He and DIL are almost like grandparents also. DIL,s sister had only grandchild at 43 so she is special to us all.

The drowning in Council Bluffs was upsetting.  What I read sounded like  the pool is closed for the season and wasn't open over the weekend.  An employee found the body when they went to work on Monday.  

A sad situation.
