I went across the street to feed the homeless cats. Someone had put out a big metal container of water, and the water is as black as......my lungs. Raccoons. They wash all their food.

DS’ routinely comes with practical demonstrations. I may or may not have farted so loud and hard this weekend that the automated phone system DH was using to reorder his prescription picked it up. Even he had to admit that was impressive. www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8jeERv3/

Mr. T is still talking and Mister is showing signs of distress lol. I will NOT rescue him, after the way he acted when I thought I was rescuing him a few nights ago. He’s gonna have to tough this one out. And I am mean enough to be amused watching. Scootchie over, I want watch too! ETA - Missed it! I always miss all the good stuff! LOL

Good morning, fabulous invisipeeps, fighting the good fight. Welcome to Tuesday. I hope your day is smooth and productive as well. We should all wear pajama pants today, with little or nothing else. Maybe a pair of flip flops if the ground is rough. Today is an unplanned at home day. I think I'll get my car inspected. DH wants to go to the harbor we went to by boat on the seal watch, to photograph the seals eating the castoffs from the fisherman unloading their catch. We may do that if it's not raining. It was supposed to rain yesterday and it did a little bit. Not the thunderstorms predicted. The morning was again deeply foggy. I took some fog pictures and on the way out got these coreopsis, blooming away still in mid-September.

I cleaned 4 garbage bags of clothes, shoes, boots and hangers from my closet on Monday. And someone came and picked them up! I also gave away 2 shoe racks. There's almost room to put my laundry away in there! Bwahaha 🤣 I even dusted my bedroom. I'm impressed with myself! 😁

I’m writing instructions on a reconciliation for someone else to complete when I had no instructions to begin with. It was fly by the seat of my pants, but figured it out. It’s a for a person that should be able to do this based on her job title but isn’t performing up to her job title. Honestly, I think they are covering their bases before she’s fired. She’s gotten a few tasks assigned to her but since taken away because of the lack of results. They are giving her something easier now but we’ll see. I’m not holding out a lot of hope. I think if she wasn’t friends with a co-worker that knows her history (worked at a prior job together and now going through a divorce), she would have been fired already. To me, this seems like a last ditch effort…

Scheduling medical appointments so I can procrastinate more on the business/financial side. Although, I did finally request and set up a call with the crop insurance people. And, I picked the bogleheads brains for their collective wisdom…asking for advice on a message board is always inviting a lot of well meaning but “um, ya, already know that” responses. But good to know that donating MF directly actually is different than donating stocks

We are sitting outside on the side of the house, because I am still creeped out about sitting on the deck after that worm fell on me. Mister brought the dogs out, and then put Boy back in the house because he was being unruly and wandering off where we couldn’t see him. I went inside to pee, and Boy was at the door looking pitiful, I asked Mister if Boy could come back out if he promised to TRY TO behave. Mister said yes. So I had a talk with Boy, like I always do when I try to trust him outside, the same kind of talk folks have with their kids when they tell them they better behave before they get out in public, or go over somebody’s house, and they better not embarrass them. Y’all don’t know about those talks? Okay, but that’s a real thing. With children though and not dogs lol. So I had a talk with Boy and told him how he HAD to behave and not run off without permission to go play. He listened, we are all outside, and all is well. He is curled up between my feet. I have those discussions with the twins. Usually when I leave I tell Jackson to protect his sister and Macy to be nice to her brother. Also when Macy is cutting up I tell her that she needs to behave and be a lady. When Jackson's whining I counsel him on not being such a whiny bitch.

Just got the email to register for the bio-metric screenings to get the insurance discount. So much for all the great changes I was going to show...that year sure went by fast.

But yesterdays high was ONLY 98*, and our humidity was super low. DH and I had a whole conversation on how cool it felt outside, even though it wasn't. That's what an entire month spent over 100* will do to you, I guess.

I've not been happy with all betting commercials for a while now. And I really do not like that some baseball parks have betting sites like Sportsbook onsite. I have not entered one, but supposedly they do happy hours after games with free food. You do not bet there though - the staff refers you to their app.

Still working on SOPs. I can actually get a lot done if I just force myself to do it, there are just so MANY that need to be done.

I'm in Chicago for work and got in late this afternoon with nothing to do. The weather was rainy, so I ordered myself some dinner delivered to the hotel room, then took myself out to see Barbie. I really enjoyed it. It really does give you a lot to think about- it made me laugh, it made me cry. Off to bed as I will be up early for a run on the lakefront and then off to work 12+ hours to prepare for an event! Enjoy your time away!

Decided to ask the Medicaid lady about the wording in my POA about reimbursement/compensation. The answer is no I cannot bill grandma or her estate for anything I do. DHS expects you to do it all out of the goodness of your heart/sense of duty. Which on one hand I get it is an ethical concern if I am taking compensation. On the other hand this is almost a full time job if I want it done right. Just educating myself alone is taking up a large chunk of time. I am not expected to come into work and do it for free because "it's the right thing to do" to help the company. It seems insane to me that I am expected to navigate elder care and applying for Medicaid without a single penny. That sounds terribly greedy but it's true. I am bitter about the constant refrain of I am "doing the right thing". Which gee I don't see Bill riding up to take care of his MIL. Great Aunt has five kids and they dumped it all on the eldest daughter. If doing the right thing by family is it's own reward why aren't the other four kids ponying up? At least I asked. I have been doing it right by not so much as taking money for gas and I won't be kicking myself if I found out later I could have reimbursed myself. I am approaching the finish line. After this it is a once a year meeting with Medicaid till she passes. Not going to lie the fact that I will not be done with this for possibly another 20 years is not the highlight of my week but it is what it is. I am resigned to the fact that I am actually potentially going to inherit my grandma and quite possibly my great uncle. They both have to have someone represent them and if my dad goes before they do I'm the only one left. I should never have thrown that joke out into the universe. There are moments where I feel like because I said that it decided to take my mom and I need to be careful lest it call my bluff again.

I am going to be part of a Nielson survey for listening to radio between the 14th and 20th, its pretty neat. It was a random phone solicitation and when I heard it was from Nielson, I agreed. They gave me a whole $2 to participate so I see. Hubs and I don't mind, we figure we are a totally different voice and opinion from others around here so good deal. I need to remember, but out listening is strictly in the car or when working in the garage or at a rental.
I am so tired as usual. I'm hoping stopping the cholesterol drug for 3 months and also stopping ozempic for awhile will make me feel better. This will be the first week without ozempic, my shot would have been yesterday. It was the smallest dose for the last month and a half at least. I think my gut, liver, and kidneys likely need a break. That is the reason for the cholesterol pause to see if DD and I improve on the liver numbers. My side already feels better as of yesterday. It had been 4 days without it. I will need to be careful what I eat though. I had bacon and eggs this morning, so really need to dial back on those. I never thought about Nextilzet causing that, though its not a statin it reduces the cholesterol so works in some manner. My side had hurt for 2 or 3 years. Had several x rays nothing. Going to get my right hip xrayed if the pain people will tomorrow and think its just osteoarthritis too. But since I have fallen a lot over the last year won't hurt to look at it.
I started some vitamin B, I imagine that will help me have more energy.
Hubs is talking about moving to Washington, can you believe it? It will take us a year or two. If they offer me enough money for my post office I will sell it. We are selling too much this year, but might as well go ahead, I told him we will pay dearly in 2 years for medicare premiums. But if we sell this house and PO this year, than all we have left is his folks place. The man who called about buying the post office is getting back with me Friday, there is an offer on the table, they buy them up throughout the country. Whether he will sell his folks place or not is up to him. I don't care. We will need to sell ours too. I want to gather up enough cash that if we find a place we like up there we can pay cash for it and not get into our other money. Also we will have bargaining power with that. They are dropping prices a lot up there for those that have to sell. I found one we would both like, but can't do it right now, it was $489k, they had dropped it a lot. Had everything we needed, garage, nice house, and a couple of acres, though we can use less. Like he said we can live in the home up there till we find what we want. I am going to suggest an auction of a lot of this stuff just to get rid of it. It would be cheaper to replace it than make trip after trip hauling it up there. A lot will go. Out of the basement all I want is my sewing and it could be reduced, and my canning equipment. Maybe some decorations and our stash of supplies. Everything else can stay with the house or be sold. The exercise equipment will all stay in the basement, the couch, end table and things like that. It would be a moving sale. Neither of us is getting stronger or younger, it's time. I think if he gets a bad prognosis the time table will move up.
I would sure like to invest the proceeds of everything for a couple of years, but we can't just keep waiting at our ages.
So things are kind of sorta looking up, but I'm worried about hubs, the 15th we will know. I want to go with him this time.
I'm just not up to working on houses anymore, I told him, we need to let them go, he is agreeing.

DH is down.
He knows he needs to start planning on getting the port in place for peritoneal dialysis and he is not up for it, the medicalization of our lives. It scares me, too. He has had complications after every single interventional procedure in the past 15 years, and there have been about 20. The caomplications are a function of diabetes and CKD. The dialysis will address the CKD.
I've started looking at rescheduling our trip to New Mexico to perhaps October. That may be later than is good for DH, with his numbers falling.
I wish it were different.

I can't remember how at this time, but hubs was allowed to take $1200 a year from his mom's money. We had to declare it on the paperwork but he actually got that. Since he was driving miles a week to see her 2 and 3 times it did help some. Of course I was doing all the paperwork, but that's ok, it helped with gas. He spent a lot, I think it was something like 80 miles round trip each time for a couple of years.
Honestly, I'm glad all that is behind me. I took care of mom and her needs, MIL's paperwork, clothing, and all that. Hubs did the visiting and pill part. I did the hospice part for her, so its' done. We did get some money as it was taken care of years before and we didn't even know it. My mom did the same, but hubs and I even if divorced or widowed would not have blown their money and they knew it. Hubs said me not signing stuff over to the kids is going to cause them to lose our money to the state. Well, I trust son to not spend it, but I'm afraid if DIL knew what we had she would go crazy with spending if something happened to son and we would end up in poverty. He can't keep her in control now. When up there she was saying she wasn't spending but had all kinds of nice jewelry. Things she would say oh this was just $400 or $500 or this purse was only $100 and than wonders why they can't work on the house. I bit my tongue but even though he makes good money I don't know how he keeps up. I think they argue about it, well I know so. But again I try to stay out of it. But I don't want to be broke if something happens to son, as we have enough to live a good life for the rest of our life. That is a problem for us. I'm sure he has money in his pension fund for the future and will have SS. He also has other savings, how much I have no idea and is still saving into his 401K, but they will need it. So he tries to keep her under control, but it must be stressful to have to do that daily. I would not go clothes shopping for me or DD so she didn't have an excuse to buy. She would say well I can look and not buy, you can't? I told her no I can't. Not true but it was a good excuse. DD and I went a few times alone but I didn't buy anything.
She is a good person, but she does have a problem, I have to be really careful too as I can do the same. We had necessities to get when I came back, but now I have reined in again. So I'm doing good.
Well, time to go help hubs,, he ended up having to put a new toilet in at the rental, there was something wrong with the other one, so he is doing that today. The place really looks nice.
Later all.
