susana1954 I am sorry to hear about your MIL. I am glad you had a chance to visit her. TheOtherMe I hope you feel better soon. I agree with you on COVID- yuck! I tested negative for COVID. But my GI issues are back in full force. It’s been brewing for a few days, and now it’s gone from bad to worse. UGH! After the funeral, next week, I really need some time to pass with nothing crazy happening. At least a month, please? A couple of my -itises have been acting up off and on lately. In addition to my stomach hurting, my shoulder hurts, my arms, wrists and hands have been hurting, my feet hurt. It’s been a couple years I think, since I last had a shot for my arms and hands, so if they keep hurting I will make an appointment. The only thing I’ve ever been prescribed for my shoulder was to rest it. I did have a couple of shots for it years ago, but they didn’t help. Over the years since then, when it bothers me, it’s usually some stress involved.

I'm thinking of time to allow you to rest and for your body to recover from the constantly shifting stress. I'm not thinking of a vacation but rather time to focus only on yourself - journaling, eating properly, regular light exercise, re-establishing a bedtime routine and adjusting to your new work hours, time spent reading, gardening, yoga, cooking, even time spent just breathing. I'm working on something similar for myself, and this may sound crazy, but it's been hard learning to take care of only me and practice good self-care. The women in my family were never overly good at it but I'm getting there.

So sorry. Two relatives of ours in your state just got it this past week too. Do you have people who will help if you need it? Not really. Covid deniers but I think DN3 would help if I really need it. We made a deal back in 2020 and I might remind him of that.

I hope it isn't too bad and you recover quickly.

So I have a bit of a weird problem. I live in a 2BR/2bath condo. Both bathrooms are in perfect working order and clean (the bedrooms are irrelevant to my conundrum). This morning they came and painted my front door as part of the complex painting project. Now I have to go to the loo but I need to keep my front door wide open for another three hours. So I feel the need to stay in my living room to prevent anyone from just walking in. But I've GOTTA GO yet I can't, two available bathrooms but I can't go. So if you read in the next couple of hours about an explosion caused by a bathroom emergency in the Bay Area be aware that you have just read about my pitiful demise... I want to know how you solved your issue. Does your front door open to a shared hallway? In any event, I am impressed they actually did the entire door. The front doors here just get painted as they are locked. I always worry that sometime in the future they will do it and the paint will form a seal and make it hard to impossible to open the door. The smell can be intense. Did you have a piece of furniture to put right by the door to protect you when you used the loo? Or not?

Worrying about trying to make sure I can go to work, does add to my stress and sometimes contributes to getting me in a loop. My “new” PCP has already said she doesn’t do paperwork for disability at my first appointment with her. With the nature of my job, there’s no telling what might happen with my body, so I know I need to find another PCP. I just haven’t got around to it. She did give me a week off work when Mister’s Mom died. But she said again at the time that she doesn’t do disability.

My mom just got over COVID for the fiest time, and my dad also had it for the second time. My dad's was more like a head cold this time around. I've been curious about the symptoms from this current version. A coworker said something about back pain and stomach issues which did not enlighten me much. I have back issues, knee issues and sometimes stomach issues as apparently getting older means my stomach is less flexible and forgiving to whatever I eat. How long did it take mom to recover?

I was trying to enjoy my breakfast out on the deck this am, after a Walmart run. pups begged off to come inside for thr humidity. LD went straight to my bedroom and zonked. so, Punk and I have been hanging out downstairs. Shark Week is down to a couple days these days, and today I thought I might actually die at Walmart. damn cramps I've never had in my life til now. wtf?
anyway, we've been couch potatoes while the TV played a series of episodes of a show called "I Was a Teenage Felon" where I learned a lot. lol... but now, I'm watching a phenomenal US Open women's final. please find highlights. LFG, Coco!!

I might take the missy to a open house at a fire station today. I wanted to communicate to DD1 that perhaps she might enjoy going as well.
I loved going to firestations, as I grew up. My dad was a firefighter and my mom often took him lunch or dinner. Sometimes we got to go with her. I hope you went and that you both enjoyed it.

Well, an unexpected “ gift” from traveling- influenza A. The worst is over but I’m weak still. A few more weeks and I’d have had my flu shot. I usually travel in October so it’s never been an issue but omg, the flu is awful. I can’t even remember the last time I had it, it’s been that long. Of course it started last Saturday and I couldn’t get in to see doctor until Tuesday. Too late for tamiflu but she suggested a B complex to help combat the lack of energy. I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired!! Fortunately, DD didn’t catch it from me so she’s ok. Ugh. Hope you feel better soon!

Trying to decide what to do tonight. Need to swap out Moonshadow's fleece in the cage, however he has not been a happy or uncomplaining camper lately. I expect advanced complaining and unwillingness to stay in place when I do the swap. I gave him a taste of some hay with herbs, but he did not touch whatever the tiny, dried flowers are. I used to get a similar small bag from a different company but wanted to try this. Rain in the forecast all weekend so not sure when I will do my work clothes laundry. Actual predictions of when it will rain have been off the last day or so and constantly changing. Some of it has been huge downpours too Beautiful cool breeze earlier, but I did not stay out to enjoy it as a heavy thunderstorm was supposed to hit in a couple minutes. Might have been close, but we got lighter rain for whatever reason. HB to all grandmas and DBs, etc. I need to write my sister as I missed her birthday last week. I kept forgetting to drag something in to mail this week as we had a heatwave, and it was tough going for me. She can work any day at almost anytime so I am not sure what to do. Last time I called, she was at work, which I did not know. I said sorry, but she wouldn't hang up and just wanted to berate me for calling her at work. So even though it's the weekend, I don't know of a safe time to call.

Something is in the air. I did the same last week. I intended to go to the zoo this week for the first time in years, but it hasn’t happened yet. It’s a relatively tiny zoo compared to others, but I do enjoy watching the otters frolic. And I’ll think of Virgil when I see the snow leopard. Ours used to have a monorail that went around the park enclosure from above that my oldest loved to go on. About 12 years ago they shut that down, and just a few weeks ago it has been reopened as an elevated walking trail. I can't wait to check it out. That looks so cool! And a great utilization of the old monorail.

I’d never had cramps, and the rare times I did, they were mild and only on the first day. That was one of a few things that changed drastically, for the worse, when I was in perimenopause. Anyhoo, sorry for the cramps, and I hope you have a chill, relaxing evening.

It usually doesn’t rain when they say it will, and it rains like crazy sometimes, when there’s no rain in the forecast. Trying to rely on weather forecasts is one of the reasons I had problems with my tomatoes this year. If you don’t know when it’s a good time to call, how about texting her and wishing her a happy belated birthday, and asking her to call you when she can?

The American girl doll beauty salon set.i scored Abby off Ebay is a huge hit. She turns nine tomorrow. We had her birthday party today. Had pizza, cake and let them run wild in the park. Happy birthday, Abby!

What a day. Around 11 my mom texted to let me and my siblings know our grandmom passed away this morning; that obviously warranted an immediate phone call. We've been expecting it; my mom had been a primary caregiver since last August, so it just feels like a weird relief right now, for my mom's sake. She put her life on hold the past 13 months. Grandmom passed a few days shy of her 95th birthday, not too shabby.
I already had plans to have my birthday lunch with my dad today, and he's leaving on a Viking European cruise tomorrow so I didn't want to cancel on him. Husband and I did have a good lunch with Dad, so that was good. Then we went to Grandmom's to sit with my mom and aunt as they waited for the funeral home to come collect her body. I'm glad we were there for my mom and aunt.
So now I'm home with some wine, Indian leftovers, and catching up on today's chatter here. I hope everyone is well.

I've never needed those parts, and would have happily taken them out if I'd been allowed to. tonight will definitely be chill. I'm about to go fix pup dinner, later than usual but they have both been sleeping all day. we will come back down for the rest of the night if it's still stupid humid out. I'm not sure when that is supposed to break.

Cookies Galore , I’m so sorry for your loss. When my grandparents passed (within 10 months of each other) it was both a relief (for my family who were their caregivers, and for all us knowing they were no longer in pain) and heartbreaking. I hope she lived a long happy life!

have you guys used bar keepers friends on glass top cook stoves? I have and still do, ever since Archie recommended it to Chloe, I believe. So crazy to remember that post and the names but it was a great tip that I used ever since

I just finished rolling in balls 2 hanks of yarn. One was a tangled mess. The local yarn stores will not do this unless you buy yarn from them.
