That is a good idea, but not what is customary here. Traditionally, the family gathers either at the church or at an immediate family member’s home. I am very new to this kind of thing, so while I do like the idea of gathering at a restaurant, who pays? I will not ASSume that other people will pay for whatever they order, and not leave Mister with the tab. Another scenario where I might need bail money. Mister told his Aunt that he would like to just come home and go to bed. She respects that and so do I. We can have it said at the funeral that there will be no repast. That won’t necessarily stop people from coming to our house anyway, though. And I feel like there is a good chance that that will probably happen. I’m good on protecting Mister and not letting anyone disturb him if he’s resting in the back of the house. I will put folks out of my house and kick ass, to protect his peace. I just wrestle with do I ignore the doorbell, which would wake Mister up even if he is sleeping in the back of the house, and if I don’t ignore it, how rude I am willing to be as far as having uninvited guests in my house, knowing that they do mean well. A good hostess would have food to offer guests, and I just don’t feel like dealing with that. My refrigerator is mostly empty, we haven’t even bought groceries for ourselves, let alone trying to provide food for anyone else. We went and bought the steaks I grilled for DS yesterday, and some broccoli because he likes my broccoli. Idk what’s in the deep freezer in the garage, but whatever is out there, I am willing to cook so that Mister and I can eat, but not to try to feed his extended family and random people. Nor am I willing to agree or encourage Mister to try to figure it out. He’s said he wants to just come home and go to bed, and dammit, that’s what Imma insist he be able to do. When TD’s dad died, they had a couple trays of sandwiches, a couple trays of cookies, a crudities plate and a carafe of coffee set up in an adjacent room to where the funeral was. There was also a table set up that contained pics of his dad with the family. Afterwards, it was easy enough to same the remains from the trays and everything else. No one went to anyone’s home afterwards. This is typical around here. Most of the funeral homes have adjacent dining areas and serve food as part of the deal. People gather and eat there and not at someones home.

I’m not going to concern myself with it, especially since Mister said he wants to be alone after the funeral and burial. If they want to get together, they can figure it out. Brother can host them at their Dad’s house or whatever.

We went to our endocrinologist appointment today. the NP is concerned as DD's blood pressure was 88/62, he said too low. Mine was 98/72, I wonder because that is lower than normal for me. It was 106/72 the day before, hum. We have an appt with her heart doc on the 2nd of Oct, they suggested I try to get her in before that. I will call tomorrow morning. Her glucose, cholesterol and all that is perfect, but, both she and I had elevated ast/sgot but we had elevated eosinophils also. I told him I am worrying it was that paint we were exposed too. Even though I ventilated and aired the house, I worried, we likely should have gone to sons or a hotel for a couple of days. But he didn't want to say it was that for sure. So he told us both to stop her statin and my Nexlizet till our next visit in 3 months and in 5 weeks we are being tested again for just that. We will go back to the doc too for a check. Whatever it is, kind of worries me. She is going to stay on .50mgs of ozempic. She has now lost 70 pounds. She is 5'3" and 125 pounds now, he said everything is looking good, she only dropped a pound so that is ok too. It is keeping her glucose perfect. He told me I could do .25 or .50 whichever, he did say the higher dose helps protect the heart. But being on the lower has really helped my constipation issues, however, I'm finding that my sugar lows seem to be coming back some and I'm finding myself having to eat something more frequently to keep it from happening. While in Washington, I dropped 4 pounds, I'm sure here and the different eating they will be back. I asked if there was something they could do for osteoarthritis and they said sadly no. It just doesn't get the attention it should for people. She said I might talk to my other physician and see if he would try meloxicam that it might help more than duloxetine. When I see my GP I'm going to see if they will xray my right hip, I want to at least know if the pain is from arthritis or something else. Hubs said they will have the results of the biopsies on the 15th. He said he has a tumor there, his urine stream has been a problem for awhile. I tried to get him to go before, but he didn't till he saw his GP and had blood work. They took biopsies of the tumor and he said about 8 places altogether. I said did that hurt, he said it got pretty uncomfortable, for him to say that, it hurt. So until than nothing as to what they do, if anything. Getting old is such fun. Just have plenty of insurance is all I can say. He has $1800 deductible. I have the coverage where mine is covered, so it won't hit us too hard. I have plan F, he has G, both are good policies. DD goes back to the neurologist tomorrow, finally done for this week. Next week only 2 appointments. This is why they do joint replacements, so your endocrinologist lied to you. OA gets lots of attention, but unfortunately replacing the joint is the only solution for destruction of cartilage, there is no way to replace cartilage in hips. Also, you can use NSAID’s, and crutches to unweight your hip to help you remain mobile. Duloxidine is not an anti inflammatory. I thought you were already taking Voltaren or the generic version? BTW……did you ask about Sue Anne? Are her hips/knees getting xrayed too?

Holy crap! I just found out, one of my grand dogs(5lbs?, 12yrs old), got attacked by a Goldendoodle today and had to have an eye removed! It was a relative's dog that did it. They were sleeping on the couch together. No one knows why it happened. So traumatic. Damn! Sheldon was playing with Harpo, scratched his eye and we wound up needing to remove it. So it’s entirely possible it was an accident. Regardless, as a result of needing to remove Harpo’s eye Sheldon got declawed. I thought we’d get pushback from the vet, but as he had tried for 4 weeks to get Harpo’s eye to heal unsuccessfully there was none.

Trying to get an appointment at the vet. Harriet has had diarrhea the last few days, and this morning it was bloody.
Need to go get flu shots this afternoon, and I want to make a run to the yarn shop and get supplies for my next project. I suspect that there’s gonna be lots of cussing involved with this one!

Why do children wear hoodies in the summer? T2 just left with her BF for the weekend and the boy was wearing a hoodie. It's 85* today. In their attempt to revert to toddlerhood, hoddies are like their security blankets. At least that's what I tease DD15.

I hope your granddoggy is OK!
My 12yo beagle only has one eye - she had it removed 4 or 5 years ago. Hers was glaucoma / a mass behind her eye, but it has never limited her in any way.

Perhaps it's like the old McDLT's for her. She keeps the hot side hot and the cold side cold. or something along those lines.

I have mine scheduled. I'll get it on 10/3. I got my flu shot a couple of weeks ago. I'm trying to be proactive, since my DGDs started school last week and I'm old with health issues. That's my dad's birthday. It was my dad's birthday too. He would turn 99 if he were still alive

Y'all, these people work my nerves! I have deadlines to meet and people not doing what I ask them to is not helping me meet them. But best believe that if they get shut down, they'll be blowing my phone up!

Hoodies in the summer (Carrot) shorts in the winter (my oldest).
They're both goofy.
I just don't understand it. I really wonder about Gen Z sometimes. I don't know. The shorts in winter was something my brothers did as well and my oldest brother predates the boomers (not by much but still...). I don't believe hoodies were a thing until my kids were little but if they had been DB1&2 would have wearing them - a badge of honor if you will to show they were tough

So I call the grocery store about my order I'm supposed to pick up at noon today, since I never got a text that it was ready. They say nobody from that department came in today. Sigh.

I didn't want to wear stirrup pants** under skirts, and my only other option was support pantyhose, which I hated with a passion. (My mom was worried about me getting varicose veins, so I had control top, supportive pantyhose while I was in HS.) Tights came out maybe my senior year in HS, and then in college. I'd wear those, some.

I should be hearing about the last job any minute now. I'm betting they were all like "Thank you, next." The waiting is getting to me.

Mister said that the Pastor of the church that Mr. Messy use to play music for called him, asking if there would be a repast. Mister told him he didn’t want a repast, so the Pastor said his church was going to give Mister some money so the family can go to dinner whenever they want to.
I thought that was kind of him to reach out to Mister.

Brother told Mister that he did get tested for COVID and he tested positive.
We were around him Tuesday. Is it too early for us to test? Do we have to go somewhere or are the tests everybody received in the mail still good?
I am having trouble thinking right now and trying to figure shit out, because I’m overwhelmed.

Schadenfreude.
Old supervisor reached out to me a couple of weeks ago with a request to review and edit a paper they were including me as an author on. Didn’t get to it within four business days, so he emailed again, a week after initial request I responded with a couple of answers but noting that I hadn’t had the bandwidth to do a full edit…he responded reasonably enough that X would take care of it.
Had lunch with X today. She said he was upset I didn’t respond to the email immediately (she tried to point out I don’t work there anymore, deaf ears). Also, the group is as toxic as ever, everyone’s frustrated, he won’t maintain equipment and keeps pushing people harder and harder, and he has a massive budget shortfall that may mean he needs to lay off the two new hires that have been there less than a year. I was one of two workhorses in the group; he drove me out and the other one is retiring next year.
I feel terrible for the new hires. But I’m really glad I escaped. X is looking but hasn’t found her ideal fit yet. Other coworker Y joined us too; she has a new job with actual growth potential and is mostly happy.

It’s reasonable to test after 3 days, and they keep extending the dates on the mailed tests-you can look up the new expiration dates online I think? If you don’t see a control line pop up you shouldn’t trust the result. Negative today isn’t a totally clean bill of health though. I would definitely test again before Mister Messy’s funeral. All the hugs.

I've heard mixed things about those at home tests and expiration dates. I did see at home tests at CVS for 4 for $20 recently.

I am really out of sorts, and I appreciate you trying to help me think.
