Good morning, you beautiful invisible people. Welcome to Friday. I hope your day is satisfying and includes something sweet while offering relief from any unpleasant heat. You're coming this way at a good time, soupandstew. Highs are going to be low 80's and mid to high 70's, with night lows in the 60's. I hope you enjoy every moment. I'm going to see very old friends today to have dinner and hang out for a while in the town we grew up in, where 2 of them still live. Then tomorrow early we have to get out and set up our booth for the arts/crafts fair. Sunday is packing for leaving on Monday. DD tells me I don't need to color my hair just yet, that it can wait another week or two. I'm going to trust her. So today I do a lot of laundry and prepare a huge fruit salad for all to share. Yesterday's dawn was bright but I found the best shot for my tastes today to be this one, with an egret and a Great Blue heron bookending the sailboat:

Holy crap! I just found out, one of my grand dogs(5lbs?, 12yrs old), got attacked by a Goldendoodle today and had to have an eye removed! It was a relative's dog that did it. They were sleeping on the couch together. No one knows why it happened. So traumatic. Damn! How sad. Hope your grand dog is otherwise ok.

And, sadly, I'm hearing all sorts of stupid stuff about the new booster that should be available later this month-the usual crap about it giving the gubmint a way to track me, sterilize me, make me gay etc. Me, I can't wait to get my wide-load rear and DH's skinny butt to the first pharmacy or clinic I can find selling that stuff so we can both get the jab. I have mine scheduled. I'll get it on 10/3. I got my flu shot a couple of weeks ago. I'm trying to be proactive, since my DGDs started school last week and I'm old with health issues. That's my dad's birthday.

OMG! Is anyone watching the Chiefs Lions game?! Holy shit! I'm going back and forth between the game and my cookies and jello shots in the kitchen. I took KC in my pick em league so I'm gonna need KC to win by 7 or more. Looks like they let us down. It was a good game though.

Just posted a FB memory of flowers DH brought home on our 1 month anniversary.
He doesn't do anything on FB, but follows local sites because there is hardly any other way of getting local news.
I am very careful about what I post though because he does pay attention and usually reads too much into it.

I know. We aren't there yet. That's fair. I didn't block dh, but I've blocked fb because of dh. And I'd tell everyone he was the reason.

Oh thank God the smoke is going to clear tomorrow. I took Sudafed and snorted Flonase this morning. I am up and walking but I cannot hear out of my right ear due to congestion. Fun times. I risked taking Sudafed at night in order to sleep and it ended up helping instead of causing me to tweak. Guess I was that exhausted last night.

I've been getting a sore throat too, but I think Carrot gave me his cold and it's not smoke.

Why do children wear hoodies in the summer? T2 just left with her BF for the weekend and the boy was wearing a hoodie. It's 85* today.

TMR, sorry about your Granddog. My Dogs are aggressive with other dogs. I never let them get near any other dogs b/c I am afraid they will end up in a fight. I have work piled up. Have to get to it. Tomorrow we will blow the whole day in Chicago with friends, DH will probably ignore me (he cooks, so it is mostly unavoidable), so I will bring a book. I know plenty of people, and there will be alcohol. I just have plans with my family on Sunday (DS's birthday, so I can't have more than 1-2 drinks. NMD, I hope you feel better. Chiver How are your Dogs doing? Rayoflyte, are you and your DH still together? ETA Just got a "Breaking News Alert" from USA Today. Georgia Grand jury recommends charges for more Trump allies, including Sens. Lindsey Graham, David Perdue, and Kelly Loeffler. Lindsey Graham so deserves to be charged.

They're both goofy.

I am up and having coffee! Usually I do tea, but today is coffee.
Had some fun on the drive back to the condo - I was listening to Jim Harold's Campfire for the whole drive.
Need to dress and get ready for assisting a friend...It's gonna be a Advil day for sure.

I would so love to see Lindsey Graham go to jail. I've thoroughly enjoyed this summer of indictments.

Trying to figure out my next project. I'm too used to having something in my hands in the evening to do. Did you finish the baby blanket? Yep, last weekend. I also won yarn chicken with about 2 yards of yarn left.

Pink Cashmere , can arrangements be made at a nearby restaurant to serve at least coffee and some sweets? Maybe sandwiches? I'm most familiar with that sort of arrangement, which serves to let the bereaved not have to work extremely hard when they are not up for it. That is a good idea, but not what is customary here. Traditionally, the family gathers either at the church or at an immediate family member’s home. I am very new to this kind of thing, so while I do like the idea of gathering at a restaurant, who pays? I will not ASSume that other people will pay for whatever they order, and not leave Mister with the tab. Another scenario where I might need bail money. Mister told his Aunt that he would like to just come home and go to bed. She respects that and so do I. We can have it said at the funeral that there will be no repast. That won’t necessarily stop people from coming to our house anyway, though. And I feel like there is a good chance that that will probably happen. I’m good on protecting Mister and not letting anyone disturb him if he’s resting in the back of the house. I will put folks out of my house and kick ass, to protect his peace. I just wrestle with do I ignore the doorbell, which would wake Mister up even if he is sleeping in the back of the house, and if I don’t ignore it, how rude I am willing to be as far as having uninvited guests in my house, knowing that they do mean well. A good hostess would have food to offer guests, and I just don’t feel like dealing with that. My refrigerator is mostly empty, we haven’t even bought groceries for ourselves, let alone trying to provide food for anyone else. We went and bought the steaks I grilled for DS yesterday, and some broccoli because he likes my broccoli. Idk what’s in the deep freezer in the garage, but whatever is out there, I am willing to cook so that Mister and I can eat, but not to try to feed his extended family and random people. Nor am I willing to agree or encourage Mister to try to figure it out. He’s said he wants to just come home and go to bed, and dammit, that’s what Imma insist he be able to do. When TD’s dad died, they had a couple trays of sandwiches, a couple trays of cookies, a crudities plate and a carafe of coffee set up in an adjacent room to where the funeral was. There was also a table set up that contained pics of his dad with the family. Afterwards, it was easy enough to same the remains from the trays and everything else. No one went to anyone’s home afterwards.
