Ok, I'm up to 6 bags for Goodwill, not counting 3 winter coats, a snowmobile suit and a pack and play (I might try to sell those last two things). My room is now a huge disaster but I can walk in the closet and there's nothing on the bed. Can I take a wedding dress to Goodwill? Kind of makes me ill to think of dumping a $1000 dress, but it's been taking up a lot of space hanging in my closet.
It also makes me ill that I just packed up 6 pairs of black dress pants and I'm on JCPenny.com trying to find another pair because none of the ones we had fit Carrot and he needs at least one pair. I had DD1's first holy communion dress made out of my wedding dress. I have a half a wedding dress now. LOL.
I need MIL to make ring bearer pillows for the kids from my dress. I'll save some of the lace, and trash the rest.
Mine's been in a tub in the basement.
Halloween is coming up. I'm sure your dress would get put to good use. Or, at least it would in my neck o the woods. And good job on the progress. I should have gotten back to our bedroom this weekend.
I did not prioritize it. Oh well.

Hubs is wanting to buy meat at Odon. I told him I know we need some but wait. Let me keep cooking from the freezers and get rid of stuff before we buy more. If we don't, we will eat the new fresher items first and than end up having to pitch the other stuff. He agreed. I can pick up a couple of pounds of ground beef at Kroger when I am in the city. Today I cooked him a strip steak, only had one, and baked potatoes. Fixed DD and I some nachos. They weren't very good, think I will pitch the rest of them. Tomorrow I have chicken legs thawed out, I will fry those for she and I and top with mushroom soup, I like that. May thaw some hamburger for hubs and make him sandwiches, I think I'm about out of potatoes.
Going to try for awhile to do like I did in Washington and just buy enough for a couple of meals at a time, that is with veggies so they won't go to waste. This winter will stock up more so I don't have to get out all the time in the cold. I just ordered a stock of d/w rinse aid and laundry detergent pods, we are out. I'm using up the Woolite liquid. We are well stocked on TP, paper towels, and d/w detergent, plus soap.
Ordered DD bed pads and pants, she will need soon disposable underwear again.
I was going to finish the yard today but it was 90 out and humid. Hubs worked till about 1 and came home, he was hot, so I changed my mind.
I thought hubs biopsy was tomorrow, its Thursday so still have to wait.
I have an appt for the bump on my wrist tomorrow, sometimes its very painful and other times itches like crazy. Right now not bothering me at all. It's about the same size, no bigger, its at least 2 inches long and probably an inch wide. The thing has been there going on a year, so need to have it checked. If I hadn't had the giant cell tumor taken off a finger likely would think nothing of it.
Than in the afternoon take DD to the dentist to see about the tooth bothering her. Now all the doc visits start, Wed, DD's botox shots again, Thursday our endocrin visits. So we will be in the city 3 times this week. I want to go to Ollie's also. Like that bargain store.
Have to get up at 7 in the morning so about ready for bed.

Good morning, intrepid invisipeeps of Y Ma'am, confronting life's stream of inlets and rapids. Welcome to Tuesday. I hope you find this day to demand less of you than your full strength, but be rewarding your efforts. We got back home last night by 10. Wonderful weekend, perfect weather and great company. I'm so glad we went even with a broken hot water heater and needing a front end alignment and a pair of tires. It was so peaceful and relaxing. And we enjoyed a fantastic home-cooked lobster dinner, courtesy of YDB Saturday night. Will catch up on the last pages of thread after I get back from the beach with Franklin the Dog. This was yesterday just after dawn at Wells, Maine:

Dreading the next few days as we will be in the 90s, with heat indexes at or near 100 at the end of the workday. Mornings should be OK, but I am not good in heat. Need to improve my hydration for the next few days as I have been on the low end.

What the f*ck the entire left side of my throat is swollen up. I had Strep over the weekend and was feeling better but today I woke up with half my throat swelled shut. I took some Dayquil and we'll see what happens.
Ever since COVID any time I get sick it is a barrel of laughs. Last time I got stress hives. This time it seems a lymph node swelled up like a balloon.
I turned down the micro tech position. I did some reflection on my values list that I made with the career counselor and the job just does not fit enough of them to make it worth me taking it.
This job still fits better. Not great but better. We made that list specifically so I could avoid talking myself into taking jobs that aren't actually a good fit because it's the "right" thing to do or I feel guilty for not taking it.

If you want to donate clothes, I would choose any thrift store besides Goodwill. Salvation Army or St. Vincent de Paul are good. Goodwill pays its CEO millions, pays its employees next to nothing and charges way too much for what they sell. Goodwill is about all we have in this town, I'd have to drive 30-50 miles for those other two. There is one smaller place, but they're super picky and go through everything you donate while you're there, not piece by piece, but it's still way more of a hassle than the drive thru drop off at Goodwill. I NEED quick and easy or it won't get done.

Whew. Good weekend. Busy, but good. Saturday was all kids over, all the time- I bought an inflatable pirate castle island on amazon which was a big hit with everyone. Plus the ridiculously top heavy inflatable duck which is nearly impossible to ride or even mount without tipping and therefore presents an appropriate challenge for determined tweens I spent more of Monday than I like to admit trying to chase down a missing dividend. Don’t have the e-interface set up for my checking (I know, I know…). I was expecting it to land in the linked savings account and noticed belatedly that it hadn’t; couldn’t find the June statement to double check whether it landed in checking. So, I tackled my giant stack of mailings from the past 8 years to start sorting and filing. Eventually located it, along with the paper check that the custodian had mailed. So now I get to call and try to get the next quarterly dividend auto-deposited, which is due to happen in 11 days. Easier when it was auto-reinvested but this fund has a high expense ratio and a nasty tendency to spin off annual capital gains so I am following teen persuasion ’s sage advice and trying to limit damage and back out gracefully.

Goodwill is fine. I know they take wedding dresses I've seen a ton there. I just don't have the time or mental energy to sort through every thrift store and decide which ones are "worthy" of my stuff. I know I am supposed to take a stand and change teh world blah blah but I am getting SO SICK of that responsibility being dumped on me as an individual while those in power continue to line their pockets. When I can and it's easy I do it like donating the kids clothes to Big Brother Big Sister. Otherwise whatever. I REALLY do not have time to go through two old people's houses and decide which thrift stores in the area are worthy of their crap. They all way overcharge anymore because thrifting is popular not only as a way to be green but people are thrifting to turn a profit. There are thousands of videos on Tik Tok about how much you can get for certain things that you find at thrift stores. I can't entirely fault them for raising their prices to meet demand. It truly sucks though for people who need those stores and can't afford to shop elsewhere.

It's especially popular right now to scour thrift stores for things to sell on the web. I can't really fault them for raising prices to meet the demand every other business in America does. It truly sucks though for people who need those stores and can't afford to shop elsewhere. That’s a great idea! Thanks for mentioning. I always default to Goodwill bc I only have so much bandwidth and they accept basically everything.

They have bins everywhere here, several on my drive home so it's super easy to pull up and drop a bag into the bin. Goodwill is the only one here that will recycle electronics. Even our city recycling plant doesn't take them. I think possibly turning a profit for Goodwill is better than it all ending up in a landfill.

They used to have bins here for some place (I can't remember off the top of my head which) and I LOVED those. So easy. But, of course, there were too many idiots dumping actual garbage in them and they took them all out.

I have found Staples accepts electronics for recycling if you have them. There's a pretty long list of what they accept.

Another hot day so I will do courthouses and call it a day. It's too hot to visit cemeteries.
When I get back from the courthouses, I will research.
NIL's check from teaching at Michigan in July hasn't been in my informed daily digest until today. Nephew's arrived two weeks. She taught one more course than he did so my guess is that the check is for more money than his. Of course, I am not home to deposit it until Friday.
They had told her they don't cut all of the checks at the same time which makes no sense. I would think that all of the checks from that summer symposium would get cut at the same time. They were supposed to be direct depositing the checks, but in the 3 years that NIL has been doing this, her check has never been direct deposited.

The stupid tax has been paid. I left my Sun Pass in the rental car. Reported it lost and requested a new one. I guess it was probably bound to happen at some point. I made it 3.5 years before I forgot it.
Wasted a hour this morning to end up finally turning around 3 miles from home. GPS was slacking and didn't pick up the complete closure and route me around it.

LD is all settled, I think I'm okay to head out for a few hours. I'm going to leave the "tv" streaming tennis on my laptop, which he'd be listening to if I were home. the A/C is on bc it's stupidly humid out today, so that's going to drown out the road noise as well. I'll be back to check on him when I bring Punk home. they said 2pm when I dropped her off, but in all their visits it's only been that late once. with my luck, I'll get myself settled in the sand and I'll get the text that she's all set. lol...

I've been thinking about the hair rinsing discussion for a few days, and I have to say - you all really rinse your hair for 5-7 minutes?!
I've been timing myself, and I always actively rinse for less than a minute (using my fingers to massage scalp, comb shampoo through hair, etc.). I mean, my hair gets rinsed longer as I go about my other shower business, but I spend less than a minute paying attention to rinsing my hair. I spend about the same amount rinsing conditioner out as well.
Sorry - this has just been bothering me, and I had to circle back to it! haha

I rinse till I don't see anymore suds. So maybe a minute? Maybe two? Definitely not 5-7 minutes.

But my hair is long and thick and coarse. After two minutes I'll still have suds coming out. It takes a lot of work to get that stuff back out. It's kind of like get the worst of the suds out of the scalp first. Then turn sideways to get most of the suds out of that spot on the side of my head behind my ear. Then turn sideways for the other side of my head behind my ear. Then tilting my head to get the back of my head and behind my neck. Then repeat that. There's also a flip to get the suds from the underside. Once all that is done, I rinse through the ends because the suds that leave my head end up in the ends. It's a whole thing really. It's also why I don't like summer. I get sweaty and have to wash my hair all the time. Washing it is a time consuming PITA most days.

Sometimes I'm not even in the shower for 5 minutes. I have shoulder length curly hair. I get in the shower, wash my hair, rinse about 30 seconds, then condition the ends. I soap up, rinse off, rinse the conditioner, and them i'm done.

I'm a 5-10 minute shower person total and wash my hair everyday. It's shoulder length, but very fine and thin.

About to go to a local work site for a surprise visit, which likely won't go over well with some people. I do know some people that will be happy to see me.
My nerves are shot today. I was barely able to choke down half a can of chicken noodle soup. Some of that is work, some personal. I'd like to take a nap.

My hair is shoulder length and thick and fine. I get it colored about every 4 weeks, so I use shampoo for color treated hair. I use Biolage Color Last shampoo and conditioner. I also have a bottle of Nexxus something in the shower. I have had issues getting the soap out in the past, I suspect it is the type of shampoo you are using and maybe that you are not rinsing it enough. Once I get in the shower I tend to relax under the hot stream of water, so I don't usually take a short shower. I also obsessively shave my legs pretty much every time I shower, and I also use a loofa scrub on my back and use Dove Body Love Moisture Boost Body Cleanser on my back to try and alleviate my dry skin itchiness, so I tend to take a long time in the shower. I think if you really don't want to spend so much time in the shower, you should try the kind of shampoo that is gentler on your hair so that it washes out faster, but idk. Maybee ask your beautician?

My showers are short. 2-5 min max if Im shaving. In a tub I'll let product sit on my hair for a long time bit I still rinse very quickly and I have waist length average thickness course wavy hair.
I've never had an issue with product build up though. I do a lot of natural hair care stuff including vinegar rinses if anything feels off. I don't have hard water either which would complicate things.
