I had to see "the pan". Nice! I just finished watching Expedition Unknown. I used the TENS then iced my knee.

Pink Cashmere regarding Boy always licking Newbie in and around the mouth, that's just something that dogs do. It's part of being a pack and I think why my dogs get upset when I won't let them lick me. Mostly its been part of showing respect for their elders with my pack but it is a bonding thing. Regarding Boy hassling Newbie, he might be playing and he might be trying to establish whose boss. Summer Bear, Lexie's mom, used to always start hassling Lexie at the beginning of a walk. Most of the time, it was nothing. If Boy backs off when Newbie shows she's upset, it should be fine. Lexie finally had to bite her mom bad enough to need stitches but after that they were good. If they never play or Newbie displays aggression every time Boy is nearby then you can worry. I know that when things are already stressful, the dogs tomfoolery can be too much. Mostly, though, they will work it out. Bear might be bigger then his mom, Stevie but she can still put him in his place when she wants to the same as her mom, Lexie, puts her in her place. I hope something starts to settle down for you soon. I've been there where there are just too many things happening at once and most of them you have no control over.

My niece wasn't able to come in May for my Dad's 93rd Birthday so she came this week. I had lunch with the two of them yesterday.
The day before she had taken my dad to get a passport type photo which was awesome because it's been hard to organize. The photographer asked what it was for and when he learned Dad needed it for his Metis Citizenship application, he gave the pictures to Dad for free.
Now I just have to confirm with my cousin that Grandma's Baptismal Certificate is good enough or if he has a copy of her birth certificate we can use and we're good to go. The website says that processing time is about 36 weeks so that's a bit much but hopefully he makes it that long. He has a deceased friend who started bugging him and I about getting it 25 or 30 years ago. AD had some committees he wanted us on but I didn't have the time. We'll see if the family name really means enough to speed things along or not.

Watching TV with Ed. He's such a nut job. He got shaved and looks naked without all his scruff, but I'll bet he'll be a lot cleaner without all the long hair.

On the topic of large raptors, we've got an American eagle nest in our community. Rangers, or whatever they call the group that keep tabs on the eagles, do go up & peek into those nests occasionally. (Those nests are just massive--you could fit a Volkswagon Beetle into one!) But they've found dog & cat collars in them. Just so you know... I don't want them eating my pets, but they are amazing to watch when they're in the air. Oh, and yes I know they're called Bald eagles. We've just given them the nickname of American eagles.

Nice. Netflix kicked us off Ex's account a few weeks ago with their password sharing crackdown, but apparently my phone account still works fine. Watching shows on a 5 inch screen isn't ideal, but I download stuff to watch when I'm just sitting in parking lots (like now) waiting for Carrot. Look into screen cast or mirror cast. I use it to watch things wirelessly on the TV through my tablet.

You aren't losing your mind, you’re just being human with all the good and bad that entails. Acknowledging our blessings is always a good thing, but sometimes it's just not enough to address the hurt we are feeling. It's sort of like taking a Tylenol for a broken bone. Even when we embrace the good in our lives, the bad is still there. Saying I'm glad I got hit by a little SUV instead of an eighteen-wheeler doesn't fix my car or my body; I'm still broken and in pain. I understand what you wrote, but I’m just SO angry, about so many things. I try to be a good and honorable person in all aspects of my life, I try to treat people the way I’d like for them to treat me, and what is my reward for that?! Having more and more bullshit to deal with?! It seems to me that my life was much easier before I spent a few years doing the work to try to be a better me. My prior self, everybody and anybody I dealt with might be upset by things I said and did if I felt they deserved it, but I was always good, no matter how much of a fool I acted, as long as you learned not to play with me. After I started doing the work, because I didn’t want to be that person anymore, I was happy to be able to live in a zen kind of state of being. But since I’ve discovered that that was even possible, my life won’t let me stay there. I have memories of how it felt, but I haven’t been able to get to that state of mind for several years now. I use to be a real bitch, that didn’t care what I said, whether it hurt feelings or not, and I was reckless with my actions. I did a lot of work to try to be a better person. But it seems like I had more peace of mind back then, when I really just didn’t give a fuck. Pink, I have lots of thoughts, but I just don’t want to get theological. I’m sorry you’re hurting and struggling. I hope you can stop being upset with yourself for being upset. It’s okay to have your feelings.

Oh, egg pans. I have stopped arguing with DH about how much money he spends on those. He’s almost as serious about his pans as he is his knives.

I only like percale sheets, they last forever and don't pill. I have made 2 sets of white with percale and still have a bolt of it. Wonderful material, but many times hard to find in xlong.s I am exhausted tonight, we went to Westport, had lunch, shopped along the strip there. Got some pictures of fishing boats in the bay and walked a ton. The clam chowder was to die for, but I'm like DIL, wish I had just gotten our bowl for lunch instead of a cup. We had fish and chips and the kids had shrimp and chips. I was going to buy fish but ended up not dong it, not sure why. The only thing I really like is shrimp and they did have prawns. DIL drove so I got to look at scenery was very pretty and a pretty day overall. We finally found me a little makeup table at a Marshalls in Aberdeen and DIL said she has a chair for it. I also got a sun hat, forgot to bring one. I think with all the walking all of us was tired. DIL put my clean dishes away and washed the ones in my sink, I told her she didn't have to, but thanked her for doing it. She is taking little guy swimming tomorrow so took him home, I'm glad, he is a busy kid and I am getting old with less energy. I had a rough night. ate raw cauliflower too late I guess and was up sick for about 2 hours with severe gas, It hurt so bad I was walking the floor and taking gas ex and felt like I was going to vomit. So didn't get the rest I wanted. This will help. As far as son, he has never asked for a dime from us in his life. He always made it on whatever he made. But he is 54 and a 30 year loan would make him 84, really? I'm sure he wants money to live in in retirement besides just making a house payment. And yes his interest rate is below 3%, 2.9 I think. So I understand why he is wanting to pay it off. I have no idea what his balance is. Also his property taxes are going to raise. I'm getting a bath and crashing, I'm dead tire. I think DD is already asleep. Why are you eating raw cauliflower just after you've had episodes of really bad diarrhea for several days? That's probably the worse thing you can eat...anything in the cruciferous family. When I was hospitalized for digestive issues, I was able to order from a sizable menu. Even when I was well enough to be discharged, they wouldn't deliver my Thai food. The kitchen called me and said 'Sorry, but you can't have that. Doctor's ordrers. No cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, or anything in that family.' I ended up eating an incredible salmon dish with a creamy dill sauce, but that's neither here nor there. You really should be paying more attention to the food you're eating.

I know that was stupid, but I really like all kinds of raw veggies, DIL, said the same. I've just never had a response to raw veggies before like that, but I guess this getting old sh** is getting me. And it could be the ozempic also, who knows.
I'm still up watching TV and should be in bed. As soon as this show is over I'm heading to bed and hope I can sleep tonight.
DIL today was turned completely around and said oh they get along great?? Yesterday she was getting ready to leave, LOL! That's why I'm careful what I say.
This has been relaxing, no matter how much I love grandson, he is young and full of energy and I'm old with less. Most of the time I do pretty good though. But I don't want to admit sometimes he is too much for me if I'm tired.
At least I'm relaxing tonight.

Good morning, you beautiful invisipeeps of Y Ma'am, making your ways through July. Welcome to Thursday. I hope your day finds you on a roll, with satisfying productivity and time for play. Summer is on full here. DSis and I visited my town beach yesterday, it's for residents only. It's gorgeous, a very long--looks like .5 mile--stretch of white sand on Buzzards Bay. Ah! Plus we had ice cream from the local creamery for lunch. DH had a nephrologist appointment yesterday and he's continuing stable. He's in a curious state. Ordinarily with his level of kidney function he'd be on dialysis, but since he is otherwise remarkably healthy and stable, it isn't indicated yet. I am very grateful for that. THe sun rose yesterday free of the haze that has been obscuring it for most of the past month.

I should probably get out of bed. I've been snuggling with Punk this am. my alarm never went off earlier, bc the phone was off. I didn't set it correctly on the charger last night, so it wasn't charging and powered down. oops. I do know my first meeting today isn't til 10am, though. whatever.

Well my short getaway for next week has turned into a full getaway, but still close to home (I have a broken tooth that requires a dental visit on Thursday). We will switch locations on Wednesday and come home Saturday. I also finally booked a hotel for the end of August beach vacation. A little over $3,000 spent on accommodations this morning. And will likely spend that much on food and experiences during those trips. No regrets, these are much needed breaks. We only took a one week beach vacation last year for far less money due to DH's schedule, and are really feeling the burnout right now. So, 1 week on the river and 1 at the beach. Might even add in some long weekends before fall, and some after. We both still have 2 weeks of vacation to use before year end, and I would really like to see Kentucky in the fall. From family experience I would never live there, but it is a beautiful state to visit.
ETA - Will have to look at DH's schedule, but I really want to see Colonial Williamsburg's Christmas Village and the way the holidays fall for me this year I would only have to burn 2 days to get the entire week of Christmas off - plus the following Monday. We talked about going this year since we have no kids at home, but have not made definite plans. If his schedule pans out like mine I will be making reservations ASAP.

Well, another day to muddle through before I get my rejection letter. Actually, two. I took a first interview 3 weeks ago. I know that moved ahead to the second round without me, since they didn't email me for a second interview. But, three weeks for second interviews/filling the position should be plenty long enough for them to get their stuff together. It's been like over 6 weeks now. That's slow.
People are also peeing in my cheerios. I know I'm not always clear. But, it gets tiring when no one communicates with me, other than my children.
But you know, I'm told things.
Man, and I stitched and watched two episodes of Will and grace this morning.

Creighton was so slow I actually forgot I had applied by the time they called me in for an interview. Then once it was a hiring freeze but they left all the jobs open "just in case" I found out through a friend that still worked there what was going on. So interesting tidbit I learned yesterday is I should start probably writing down the specific machines I've worked with. It's been almost 20 years since I worked with the confocal microscope at Creighton so I am hard pressed to remember who made it. I do remember it had four lasers. Same with HPLC I forgot what type it was. I knew it wasn't ion but I wasn't confident anymore about whether it was normal or reverse. Boss boss didn't seem to mind he asked me what the mobile phase was made out of and I remember that. Found out he REALLY doesn't like Shimaduz machines. I shared that sentiment. Too late for those jobs but good for future reference. I still know all the principals and stuff behind all of it but it is helpful to know specifics. R got her job with my previous company because she had specific experience with that specific type of sequencer. So having that information could give me an edge someday.

Normal phase HPLCs are pretty rare, especially for biology. Reverse phase is a safe bet if it’s not ion exchange or something weird like HILIC. I actually stopped using our Shimadzu because I could.not.remember. to do one thing and not doing the one basic thing blew the detector out of alignment and made my coworker very, very angry. My fault, of course…but it’s an easy thing to forget and actually pretty typical for it to happen accidentally and therefore I feel Shimadzu bears blame as well for terrible engineering. Luckily we had some old Waters systems to fall back on.

I've been in such a bad mood at work lately that I decided I had to make myself walk the dogs before work. Ds joined me so we got in a longer more enjoyable walk before it was boiling out, and I should always ask ds to be my walking partner. He's about double my walking speed, talking the whole time about his latest d&d battle so I'm racing to keep up. The dogs are thrilled, I feel good and got time with the teen. Doesn't get better than that.

Luckily we had some old Waters systems to fall back on. I didn't like how they were built it was really hard to take care of them. I had to tell my boss at one point either you keep telling me to do it and I ruin a $75k machine or we shell out $2k to have someone come deal with it. Don't get me started on the Thermo Fisher Flow Cytometer. That thing was a POS but the head of our department had $150k to blow and thought having our own was a good idea. The stupid leak sensor was faulty and would constantly go off. Leak detector going off would mean the machine wouldn't run so you'd spend a good chunk of your time trying to get it to shut up so you could run your samples.

My will to work this week is officially dead and my brain wants to enter vacation mode. It's a shame we don't leave until next Saturday and there's still a full work week to get through. Sigh...

DH woke up to the surprise that I took all of next week off. He already was because of his work schedule. He was shocked. I will have to login for a short call or 2.

Dammit. I poked around on bath and body works website and they popped up an offer for free shipping on $25+ if I ordered within an hour. I’m only human…but I did keep it to $26.07

My will to work this week is officially dead and my brain wants to enter vacation mode. It's a shame we don't leave until next Saturday and there's still a full work week to get through. Sigh... I have no vacation time coming up but ditto. I used up all my spoons yesterday running a 4 person interview gauntlet. Now I just want to crawl in a hole and sleep.

Everyone has highs and lows sometimes the lows are REALLY low. That doesn't make you ungrateful for what you do have and trying to force yourself to do so can be engaging in toxic positivity. No you don't want to sink into a pit of despair so it is good to sometimes change the narrative. But its okay to feel like you do Pink and it's a 100% normal response to all the shit you've been through lately. It's your brain telling you that you've reached burn out and something needs to change. What that is is different for everyone. I've found "purpose" in my work with pictures and the quilt I'm repairing. It doesn't have to be a lofty Nobel purpose. It just needs to be something to work on or towards. Preferably something that provides a tangible reward like a ripe tomato or seeing the quilt on my bed once it's done. Something small that's all yours and you can say at least I did X and that's enough. Hugs Pink - I hope something changes/you find answers to your health issues. Drama - have you shared pictures of the quilt and how you are repairing it. I have a quilt my Grandmother made for me and it is quite deteriorated. I might think about attempting to repair it after I retire in a few years.

I agree. I had the same thought. I love Cooked Cauliflower, but it is on the do not eat side of the Low Fodmap diet the Gastrointestinal PA I recently saw gave me. I listed off all the foods I had identified I can not eat and she gave me the low Fodmap diet. There were only a few new foods on it that I had not identified as causing me problems. Surprisingly, I had thought I was completely lactose intolerant, but there are some cheeses like cream cheese and mozzarella that are listed as ok. I am slowly testing to see if I can eat them. I had cream cheese on a bagel on Sunday and did not have any issues. I suggest you review this list and test it out. Definitely you should keep a food diary (I admit I never have done this, I just figures out what was causing me issues over about 20 years until I finally went to a Gastroenterologist). www.idealnutrition.com.au/fodmap-food-list/
