I went to the Oregon Redwoods week before last and back home just beat. I put over 1K miles on my car in 3 days! Over 16 + hours in the car just going down and back up.
GPS ended sending me up the side of a mountain in CA over 20 miles up and there was no hiking trail or trailhead parking! It told me I had to walk to get to the trailhead, and it went out due to no service.
Going up I surprised either 1 or 2 juvenile black bears in the process. So thankful I was in the car with the windows up. I turned around and headed back into OR where there were signs on the road pointing in the right direction. Still ended up by passing the turn due to how the signage was placed and was able to ask a jogger and get actual directions. On the walk I kept hearing stuff and was attempting to not wind myself up but what was running through my mind was " is that bigfoot moving around?!?"
I also ended up taking a chunk out of my left big toe at the beach due to rocks under the sand. It was a eventful and fun driving trip. I would have loved to be able to stop and get some photos because the views were just gorgeous. Though by the end of the trip I was really glad that I was close to home incase the tranny brain decided to act up. I figured that if anything happened I would just buy a car there and drive it back home.
Everyone take care with the fireworks that will go off. They started up last night in my area.

I've read that in addition to startling & scaring our puppers, that it also really makes the it ears hurt. Have any of you tried noise cancelling headphones on your dogs? GSD Tara's also hated thunder storms and one time I actually woke up with 90 pounds of GSD on my head, kind of like a Daniel Boon hat. Anyway, she used to let me softly rub her ears which seemed to help. Gizmo ignores it or sometimes stands on the foot of my bed, barking like," Put your dukes up and let's have a rea fight!" I tend to startle, especially with gun fire.

I'm going to need bail this weekend. I thought I was safe to sleep upstairs, LD was dosed, curtains drawn, white noise powered up. I sent Punk to bed and was brushing my teeth and I realized he was crying behind the closed door. he is now out cold on my bed, Punk has vacated, and I'm just stewing about the booms overhead. my alarm is set for 5 tomorrow, and I don't GAF it it is dry or not, but I'll be running my trio of M12 batteries through my leaf blower to exhaustion as of 6am.

The next town over has their fireworks tonight, and I can see some of them from my backyard. These are the first fireworks my newest dog has seen since she has been mine. They made her nervous, but pretty much everything does, so she was happy when I sent her inside. Dog #2 wasn’t thrilled either, so she went inside too while I stayed out and watched. My old guy stayed inside. I don’t think he really heard them. The past few years, he had gone outside to bark at the fireworks.

It's not even dark here yet, and I can hear neighbors already shooting off some fireworks. Way to waste their money. As if fireworks aren't enough of a waste of money as it is...

Feeling inadequate about the wedding shower gift for my granddaughter. I already bought an item from her Amazon registry. I have two red aprons and an LED candle. I gave identical gift to my great granddaughter for a house warming gift. Not personalized. This GrD and fiance have had a household for about 4 to 5 years so they have about everything. Her sister and Mom will probably go naughty. LOL. Happy 4th! My heart if full knowing you online.

We were all going to fireworks tonight. Son didn't know how far we had to walk, I told him DD just can't do it. Also they don't start here till 10 or 11, she would be exhausted, then I decided me walking a long way too and helping her wasn't the best choice. Yes, I would like to see them but not worth making her miserable. So I told little guy stay with dad and mom tonight and go to the fireworks I would see him tomorrow. He was ok with that though I heard him in the house when we drove up, there's grandma now, he had his shoes on, LOL! Love him but some things need to be done with parents if they are there and willing. I can't remember mine ever taking me to see something like that.
DIL went with me today and we found 4 nice chairs at Target for $26 each, we have 2 older ones we can use, but if I find 2 more of these will get them. Told the kids if they want to use any of this stuff here when I'm not here, just come and get it. Ended up buying a cooler, just told DIL, remember where it belongs when done, LOL! I paid more than I planned because we were pooped and I didn't want to look further. So I need to vac and start prepping stuff for tomorrow. I will mix up my beans to bake for tomorrow and put them in the fridge. Will bake my pineapple upside down cake in the morning. I will fix up the veggie tray. I also watered the flowers and unhooked the hose. Want to wipe the grill down so it will be ready. DIL gave me a beautiful purse today, I love it, so different. She had 2 but she liked the other one better. She was wanting to go looking at clothes today but I told her if I did, I can't resist and I have already spent to much, that I really have to be careful. Maintaining 2 places is expensive and I have to budget better. We went out to lunch instead, Mediterranean. It was pretty good. DIL said not enough spices, but since I have had the "back door trots" , being light on spices was fine by me.
I asked hubs about the kitties and told him keep them in on the 4th, it was after 3 and he said they were already in for the day. He said Smoke didn't eat this morning so he put Tig in the bedroom until Smokey ate then let Tig out. We want to make sure he gets enough to eat also. I can't believe he is taking such good care of my babies. He acts like he is really interested in taking good care of them, I appreciate it. A dog he doesn't mind caring for but cats wasn't his thing. I think they are working on him, LOL!
I miss hubs, but even he says he has to much to do right now to leave. He told me he is moving along on the rent house. But he had to take go down to his folks house and spend the day with the tractor cleaning limbs out of the yard, he said it was really a mess.
I have the house picked up so looks decent. DIL says mine looks better than hers, she says she has old stuff. Everything in this place was bought second hand. And most of the stuff in my house is second hand furniture too. I do buy new mattresses, curtains, and drapes. She liked early American now she wants Ikea, or plain. I would love to help her, she just needs to neaten up and put away the stuff she has. There is too much of everything. Clutter is not appealing. She has the 3rd bedroom full, if she organized that, she could put more things in there to give the more, I guess plain look she wants. She didn't like the big house up there, too big, now this house is too little. LOL! It could be a doll house. Yes she needs new kitchen cabinets, I agree, but when they do it, they will have to tear out a wall and things, going to cost and take someone that knows what they are doing to change it. Hubs could do it but he is not fast and would take him quite awhile. Plus he would need someone to help lift and stuff and I don't think he needs to get into a fix like that anymore. So if I were her, I would do what I did when we waited to fix out kitchen. I painted them all, and used them till we could afford to change it all out. No not what I wanted to do. And her having "friends" that give her a hard time sure isn't helping. They keep, they would just do it and basically worry about paying for it later, say what? I do feel sorry for her. But not much I can do to help.

But I’m not living large at all. I just enjoy being outside and try to make the deck as welcoming as possible. I have plans to have another seating area or 2 out in the yard ASAP. I’m good with visitors, and even overnight guests since I live so far from most of my family and friends. But moving in…. That’s a hard NO!

Well, I just had to give Speedy one of his pills (so glad the vet gave me a prescription for him). The fireworks are too loud for him, and he needs some help in calming down. Lola seems to be handling the noise a bit better.

Love the deck lights Pink Me too! DGS helped me wrap them around the rails a couple years ago. I rarely turn them on because I don’t sit out here at night anymore. I mostly forget they’re there anyway lol. I had some strung overhead too, but they came down in thunderstorms a couple years ago and most of the bulbs broke, and I never replaced them.

I feel super bitchy, but I'm helping dsis and sil this week and I'm having to chase them down for any info. Just a quick text with times, or a response, or anything would be nice.

A storm popped up over us out of nowhere. It's a pretty small one, but hoping it gives us a good dousing of rain before it passes by.

Well now I've got Lola sitting in my lap, and drooling so hard that I'd better call the vet & get her a prescription some day soon too. She's 10 pounds lighter than Speedy, so I don't dare to "share" his medication. I'm not happy with the neighbors right now.

I have everything picked up, my cheapie plates and glasses washed and the radishes cleaned. The broccoli is soaking to make sure its crispy. Cauliflower is next, then the grapes. Dip will be added tomorrow along with the cheeses. Also the crackers tomorrow.
Just need to finish vaccing the living room and that is finished too.
I've been tired all day. Glad DD and I are not going anywhere tonight, I couldn't handle it. Sometimes I just wear completely out. I sat down for an hour or so, will again after I bathe and fix my hair.
I have all kinds of Damp Rid in here, most are half water or more now. But it smells musty or stored in here. The humidity out is only 40% so that's pretty dry. I was wondering about a dehumidifier but don't think I need one this time of year. I have lavender and vanilla odor absorbing gels too. The closets are the worst. Maybe I just need to open all the cabinets and doors during the day and all the windows.
Nothing is wet in here or outside and the home is on a concrete foundation plus there are vents all over around the bottom. I suppose its just been closed up to long and us not being here doesn't help. Once I'm in here for awhile I don't notice it, but coming in from outside I do.

I wanted to get a nice patio set, but not this year unless its on sale. I saw one at Lowe's I really like but it would have been about $1200 on sale. I will eventually find a nice set for a reasonable price, likely at the end of the season though.
Pink, your patio looks welcoming. Mine is long as the home and covered, about 50 foot and I like it. But it needs "prettied up". The painting hubs did really made it look much better but still needs a lot and it is all concrete. I want outdoor rugs too. Just takes money. LOL! Just need to budget it in. And hard to do stuff like that and then leave it for months on end. Like buying hanging baskets is pointless for just 2 months.

Our deck isn’t as big as yours, I think 26’, and it’s not covered. DD just did some dance I’ve never seen, to a song I’ve never heard, with the babies. It was so cute that I asked her if I could post the video on my FB page. I have never posted my Grandbabies on my FB page, but this video was too cute to me.

Down the lake here there are some over million dollar waterfront homes. One was bought last year. I have a feeling they are putting off some of these huge fireworks I've been hearing for over an hour or more. I likely could have gone to the pier in our subdivision down at the end of our street and seen them but I just don't seem to have the incentive this year. I used to love stuff like that and we never went. Hubs has when little guy was down. We miss having him. I said next summer let him come for a month than I can still come up for 2 months. Grandpa will like that and I think little guy likes coming down there too.
Honestly, I like just kicking back in peace and quiet, cooking what I want, and eating what I want. Makes me feel selfish saying that, but it's a nice break. We were so used to living alone for months on end, I think we both still enjoy times apart.
Need to dry my hair, I'm ready for bed and thinking the big fireworks are over. It's so dry here and all these trees, kind of worried me.
Hope all of you have a good evening. And I was wrong, just heard a huge boom, shook the ground, just wow.

Moon Shadow was very impatient for his pellets this morning. I got up a little later, less than 45 minutes, and he apparently wanted them earlier. He got a few clementine sections too so hopefully that has made him happier. Need to do exciting stuff like emptying the dishwasher and checking to see if the boil water advisory has been lifted. I think there are only a couple hours of no rain this morning but need to see if that's improved.
Happy 4th!

Wishing I hadn't gone back to sleep. Woke up around 4 and fell back to sleep around 6 for about an hour. Now my head is killing me.
