<<I certainly don't advocate anyone spending their last dime on hookers and blow (or even Amish chickens)>> Don't make me take out chicken from the freezer for dinner (I already have some baked and in the fridge to use up tonight). I ran this morning, and since I was already sweaty, I trimmed the hedges on the west side of the house, while it still had shade. Fixed cheese omelets for breakfast (all lactose free) and bagels with plant-based cream cheese (firmer than the regular kind, but it tastes pretty good). I have a pitcher of iced tea for myself for the day. Tomorrow, I am stopping by the fish store for shrimp for Tuesday and the local vegan market for some things for DH to try (vegan butter and Parmesan-style cheese). He is feeling a lot better with the lactose out of his diet.

Got the second coat on a couple of walls in DS's room. We just have two partial walls to go (it's like one). I want him to do a second round of cleaning out his drawers.
I think I'm gearing up to do another purge.

Any minute I'm getting up and bringing napkins up from the basement, grocery shopping and taking a shower, then testing the website.
Any minute.

When Mister got done working in the yard, he was in the kitchen, all hot and sweaty, drinking Gatorade. Mr. Messy was sitting in the den and asked Mister to bring him a wet towel so he could wipe his face because he was hot.
Mister said no, you know where the towels are, you can do that yourself. I was proud of him lol

I pay my dad for parts he doesn't charge for labor.
I consider it fair trade. We've paid far far less than if we'd had to take the cars to a shop every time.
But that's always been the agreement since I became an adult.
$3k isn't going to get very far purchasing a car anymore. $200 is a steal for the parts.
DHs stupid battery alone for the Nissan is $450 and that's with the discount to recyle the old one!
Dad took me to a private owned shop and he recommended a comparable battery. It fits it's just not the manufacturer approved battery. It was half the cost.
This is probably the last Nissan we'll own. No complaints about the car itself but parts are way more expensive than my Impala.

I'm getting frustrated sitting out back, trying to watch the Sox game. the stream keeps buffering. I may need to add another mesh network spot out here. ugh. I could just call it and go inside. it's disgustingly sticky out here today. I definitely need a shower, and might turn the AC back on in the house. it was cool this morning, so I opened the windows to get some fresh air moving around. yah, I think I'm going to close up the house and put the AC on for a little bit before I head in. it really feels like it's going to open up and pour at some point (please be after dark/overnight!! ) but it's bad out here. I stuck my head under the outdoor shower to soak the back of my neck when I first sat down. I'd been weeding in direct sun for a bit. my goal is to pull the 'tiny trees' of milkweed and something else that smells like mint today, some of the next size down in the am, and then douse what's left in Roundup when the pups are at daycare on Wednesday. ETA: I just went to check on my phone, sitting in the windowsill of the guest room where the mesh spot is located, and it wasn't even connected to the network. the stream quality is already better, but still not great. def need to look into this, esp before football and hockey season.

They should not have roundabouts in big tourist areas. Half the US has never seen one and doesn't know what to do. It's going to take me 30 minutes to make a 2.5 mile drive. Seriously! Roundabouts terrify me! You ought to meet the one surrounding L'Arc de Triomphe in Paris. TD and i spent a significant amount of time trying to figure out how that roundabout worked. We never did. It looks like organized chaos and I don't see how there's not a continual stream of fender benders there. There are a LOT of roundabouts in other countries. The US is really behind in this. Roundabouts don't bother me, we have a lot in this town.

It's weird to be on one side of the street and then the opposite and then the right side again.

Excited a good bit of tonight's dinner is from my garden. The heat has my lettuce going gangbusters and my squash plant survived rabbit attacks to start producing squash.
It's not near enough to offset current grocery costs but it is still satisfying to say I grew the salad on the table.
I pitched to my dad that we empty the sandbox my grandpa made and turn it into a garden next year. Archie lives in Ames now and the girls are older. Time to give it new life IMO.

I’m having a sad moment. I was getting my shopping list together in the parking lot when my nephew tapped on my window asking me if he could have $2. He didn’t realize it was me until I spoke more. He was just bumming cash. He’s a drug addict and I have to say he is looking every one of his 41 years and maybe a few more. It’s sad. Up until about 8 years ago he would clean his act up periodically and be really successful at life. But he’d use meth when he couldn’t afford heroin so I think that hope is gone for good. It’s too bad. My DB1 and DSIL are helping his ex with his son because he’s useless. He’s broken his son’s heart a few times because L will see his dad and K is too high to recognize him.

I'm listening to the glorious sound of RAIN on my roof and windows. it's raining sideways out there, and I hope it soaks every last unlit firework in the neighborhood after last night's bullshit. I'll be sleeping in my own damn bed tonight, woo hoo!

I also found my car key, which was also never really lost. Can you tell I'm a little more relaxed. I still don't know where the one knitting project went. I'm not sweating it, though. I don't know why people keep talking about a holiday weekend. Or Long weekend.
July 4 isn't until Tuesday. I have to work and then the peanut and I are packing meals for meals on wheels for a couple of hours.
I will say, it is nice to not think about applications/interviews for two days. That all ramps up again tomorrow.

I lput my keys in mom’s china cabinet for safe keeping since didn’t need them on the trip Found them when I was getting some champagne glasses for a party
Another time found keys in the freezer

Gah. Just realized I brought my neighbors pie server home with the pie. Now I'll have to get that back to her. I was kind of hoping to just avoid her for like...ever.

My company is going to be a ghost town. The only reason I'm going in is because all 3 of the other QT's are out and there has to be at least one there. I don't mind though because it will be totally dead. Easy money day.

Now they've replaced two of our set holidays with floating ones that you could take whenever. I think a lot of people used one of theirs for Monday.

Her Uncle wants $200 for the labor, but nobody told her the expectation was for her to pay him until after he was done. I feel like that expectation should’ve been made clear to her up front, since that’s not how we normally do things.

mamasita99 where are you? Are you okay? It seems like it’s been a while since you’ve posted, but maybe I just missed it. I’d like to hear more about life in Australia for you and your DW. Mostly though, I’d like to know if y’all are okay.

Mr. Messy came out and sat on the deck this morning while I was picking beans. After a few minutes, he said it was too hot and went back inside.
He’s come to the door off and on since then, asking if it’s still hot outside. I might have sounded a bit cheerful when I said “Yep!” every time. But I wasn’t lying, it is hot for real. I’m sitting under the umbrella with the fan right next to me.
DD and the babies left this morning to go swimming. They’re coming back after that. That’s why she asked if they could spend the night last night, they were already out this way, and had plans out this way this morning, so it made sense to eliminate some of that driving since they live about 40 minutes away from me. Plus the babies enjoy visiting me, and I love having them over.
Oh boy, they showed up at the gate while I was typing this post. DD went in the house and came right back out, and was telling DGD1, “don’t go in there”. I asked what was wrong and she said “he told me we gotta go in the living room and be quiet because he’s trying to take a nap”. I was looking crazy, trying to figure out how to handle that, because WTF. I said “Mister told you that?” She said “no, his Dad, I don’t know where Mister is”. Well, I knew how to handle that, and I took my ass right in the house and asked him if he told her that. He said “no. She asked me how I’m doing and I told her I’m just trying to be quiet so I can take a nap”. So yeah, he said it. He just tried to make it sound better when I asked him about it.
He got up and went to the bedroom. I’m so irritated right now. You don’t run shit over here sir, and you don’t tell my babies they have to stay out of the den so you can take a nap and make my daughter feel like they can’t even come in my house. The door from the deck is in the den. That’s all Imma say, so I don’t say anything really ugly.
