We have pictures of a tornado hitting Greenwood, Indiana yesterday. That is south of Indianapolis, looks like it tore up several houses.

I messed up scheduling ds appointments. He had one for next Monday on the 3rd, which seemed inconvenient, I thought she could reschedule for 7/21, but it was 8/21 which is after school starts. I called 10 minutes later to change it back and they had already put someone else in that appointment for the 3rd. I don't do well when I can't see it, and feel rushed.

There is a lot of damage from the storm yesterday. DD was at a grocery store near my house when it started. The lights went out at the store, but customers stayed out until the store management finally told them to leave. By the time she headed back to my house, it was over and she said trees were down everywhere, a lot of them blocking streets, and a lot of people were outside all over everywhere, looking at the damage around their homes. One man had a huge tree that fell on all 3 of his cars. She said he was just standing there shaking his head and looking pitiful. There are also a lot of people without power. From looking at FB posts and pictures on the news, it’s really bad. Huge trees fell on houses, large branches tore through roofs, trees took down power lines. I’m not really surprised, because I was in the garage with the door up, watching it. I was shocked that the basketball goal fell over. The bottom is full of idk what, to weight it down, and there’s more heavy stuff on top of the base. I can’t move it, but that’s not saying much lol. A couple of big branches fell off our tree, but they fell out in the yard and didn’t damage anything. The deck got rearranged. I’m glad I let the umbrella down and moved it in front of the chimney, because it fell over. The sofa and chairs, fell over, the wood screen with the planters at the bottom moved, the grill moved halfway across the deck, my lemon tree and heavy pot with rosemary in it fell over. And there’s debris from the tree all over the deck. I JUST cleaned the deck Saturday afternoon. Oh and part of the remnant of a fence along the back of our property came down. But none of that even comes close to what other people are dealing with. I’m just sharing what happened here, not complaining. I’ll take all of that over the serious damage a lot of other people have. I saw something on FB where a lot of people called in to work today because they had to deal with damage to their property.

I decided to reinstate my boundaries today. I declined a meeting at 1230 and took the pups for a walk around the development up the street. I have another call at 2, so we didn't have enough time to go walk the canal today. but, we got out and walked. and now they are pouting because I didn't share my Triscuits and tuna salad snack when we got back.
ETA: I forgot to include - WHOO HOO!! I heard a car door close when I was packing up the pups to go walking. I turned to look, and I saw Mr unloading his car next door. that means I'll get to sleep in peace tonight without the whole backyard lit up like an arena. fantastic!!

Waiting at the dentist. Nothing like needing to be uncomfortable, and having to write a check for it at the end! No insurance, I get a 5% discount writing a check. So I write a check as I don’t usually carry that much cash.

And I got my first rejection letter. From the job I had a second interview for. The feedback I got was all quite positive and I was encouraged to apply for any future openings.

DD hooked the sprinkler up in the backyard and I am sitting on the deck watching Kiddo and my Grandbabies run through it. There’s a lot of stuff I need to be doing in the house, but this is more important to me. And more fun.
This morning they came out when I was looking my tomatoes over and I was grumbling about the grass popping up in the rocks. I turned around and DGD1 was crouched down pulling it up. She told me “It’s easy to get it out if you pull it close to the roots Nana”. She said she wanted to do it, so I told her I’d pay her and asked how much she’d charge me. She thought about it and said $5. Deal! It wasn’t a lot of grass in it, but since she showed me how to do it and got it started, I helped her. Then we dumped the 2 bags of rocks I bought the other day. It still needs more rocks, I’ll just keep adding them gradually.
Then I guess the debris on the deck was bothering DGS, so he started sweeping. That turned into DD showing them how to make it easy to just spray it off. I couldn’t just sit and watch, so it became a group project to get the deck organized and clean again. DGD2 even helped by dumping dirt out of small terracotta pots and stacking them.
And now they are running around the yard and playing in the sprinkler.

I'm glad you got no serious damage, Pink Cashmere , and that you didn't get hurt. Falling trees are no joke. And, getting them removed can take a long time, not to mention some tree services jack up their prices after a big storm like that. Did your neighbor with the nice cars in their driveway (the ones that thieves keep trying to steal) get any car damage? No, thank goodness. All of their trees are in their back yard. I don’t think any of theirs fell.

WFH today. The AC has not been working in my office/building for nearly 2 weeks. I'm not looking forward to going in on Wednesday since I doubt it will be fixed by then either.
DH did not repeat the weather forecast to me correctly. Triple digit heat indices start today with forecasted triple digit temps (before heat index) by the end of the week. DH left for work a little while ago. We spent the morning going through the list of chores and things to do. I will spend the afternoon prepping more fruit and snacks. I just rearranged the fridge to make room for more refillable water bottles. With this kind of heat, they will cut back on outside activities in summer camp. But, we still have to stay on Kiddo to drink water in this weather. We also cheat by pushing lots of water filled fruits like melons and berries. Right now there is a breeze so while it is hot, it isn't miserable. If it stays that way, I may get a couple of quick and easy outside chores done. Need to make another grocery store run too. Will have to do it either Tuesday or Thursday because it has to be a day where I have time to do it first thing in the morning.
DH would also like for me to grill for the holiday. I am thinking with this heat I'm better off just putting something on the smoker for the day since it will be set-it-and-forget-it. I do have to figure out a menu for sides and such so I can grab all that from the grocery too.

Hoping it is not raining when I leave work. Was lazy yesterday and did not go grocery shopping so I need to stop on way home.

Baking a pineapple dream cake because I have had a sweet tooth. I also have a sinus infection, so I deserve some sugar.
Update**** I have Covid for the first time. Seems mild, mostly a headache. The vaccine is doing it's job.

so my 2pm call ended early, and I was looking for some background noise to put on after I hung up. I stumbled onto the movie "Salt" that was about 5min in, so I put that on. I haven't seen it in years, but I love Angelina Jolie. it's a good thing I'm doing mindless shit like filing emails today, because I'm paying closer attention to the movie than what I'm doing.

I dont like buffets - even if we go to a buffet, I will try to order something from the menu. I am probably weird but I have known that for a while now.

I miss the buffet. I love the cruise ship buffets. Lots of variety but do love the formal dining rooms for breakfast DSis loved buffets anywhere since she had limited reading ability. Reading about all of you going on cruises is making me envious!

Reading about all of you going on cruises is making me envious! I was already perusing to book something else in the airport waiting for our flight. I didn't want to leave. Everyone else, was, "Man, that was fun, but it will be nice to be back home too". And I'm thinking, "Noooooooo!!" It was all so perfect (except for the having the party room part). It was way too short for me.

I am too old to pull an (involuntary) all nighter. And since this has been followed by an inability to take a nap I now have a low level headache and I am cranky. I need to go to the grocery store but I am so tired my head is "off", so no driving today either. Grumble, grumble, grumble

Reading about all of you going on cruises is making me envious! We really mixed it up a lot. Usually we did seated dining for breakfast after running through the onboard Starbucks for caffeine (opened at 6:30 a.m.) or the buffet (opened at 5:30 a.m.). We tried seated dining for lunch one day and, after filing a formal complaint with the restaurant manager (complete with photos) of the dangerous contamination of DH's burger (over 1 tbs of hard gristle and many bone shards) we switched to the buffet for lunch. The buffet had really awesome salads and great international food like pho and full-on Indian including lamb curry . We did seated dining every night, including two nights at the "specialty" dining. The first night was at the Italian venue and it was equal to or better than anything we have here in Houston, and I told them so. The second "specialty" night was at the French restaurant. The food was barely edible and the service non-existent, and I told them about that as well. After-dinner drinks and espresso should be served with dessert, not many long minutes later. And I should NEVER have to ask for the return of my room card (which was linked to my CC). Just because Madame has a second glass of wine, does not mean Madame is stupid. Madame is well aware that card can be used to purchase unlimited quantities of jewelry in the onboard shops

There was just so much to choose from even for breakfast that even my vegan cousin had zero issues heaping her plate. I stuck with the basics of bacon, scrambled eggs and french toast every morning while Carrot had sushi, some indian dish and Starbucks. The service on this ship was phenomenal...even at the buffet! They were still filling our glasses and getting us stuff from the bar. The only semi-grumpy person we met was the one running the robotic bar. I think he was just bored with his job. LOL Sit and watch the robot go and make sure kids weren't ordering.

I placed another service ticket on my dead camera system and got a text saying the issue was being kicked up the ladder to a guy I know has his stuff together and understands my system. He's supposed to call at some point and try phone diagnostics. If that fails (and it probably will), a visit will be scheduled.
I called my old author guy (who called me when I was in Alaska) but no answer. I'll try again tomorrow after the grocery run
