I got a frantic, tearful call from DS today. "There's a raven with a broken wing on the ground. The other ravens are surrounding him and yelling 'Get up! Get up!' 'What do I do? What do I do? The hurt raven is screaming!' Not a whole lot he CAN do. Being so empathic hurts his soul. Sad. I'd be feeling the same way he was. Is there a division of wildlife, or rangers there, he can call and ask for advice? There are, but nobody is picking up. The government is warning people to stay indoors. We have 115 fires burning. Montreal air quality ranks worst in the world as officials urge people to stay indoors globalnews.ca/news/9792167/air-quality-warning-quebec-fires/

Getting the peanut somewhat on track with her math packet. This way, DH gets a break from doing school work with her.
I may have put all the lego sets she wanted in the cart and told her every time she fusses I'm taking one out. Girl finished her problems quick as a wink, and very politely, too. We can't afford to buy her all that she wanted. But, It doesn't take much to get to free shipping. So I'll get a few here and there.
We also have to get a book finished this week and a one pay report done on it. And, yes, these are assignments due the first day of class.

Watching an isolated thunderstorm rain down its fury on us. I hope the phone is right and this will be over in a half an hour. Want to go to the drugstore and pick up allergy meds and some snacks. I am out of my preferred allergy meds, but will live until tomorrow after work if needed.
Making dinner, running the DW, and dealing with laundry remnants. Need to do more work on Moon Shadow's cage and make lunch for tomorrow.

minnesotapaintlady Your photos are awesome - the whales were much closer to you than to us. That 3-4 hours of darkness thing sort of sucked but was cool at the same time. I never before got to get up to pee and take photos at the same time

I have to find a place that the peanut can volunteer at. 11 is pretty iffy, in terms of age.

They said we had to stay 100 meters away from humpbacks and 200 meters from orcas, but the orcas kept swimming at our boat and getting way closer. At first I was thinking "awesome!", then I remembered about the orcas in Europe taking out all the boat rudders and got a little more uneasy about it.

I watched the end of an amateur golf tournament. The men's winner matched the course record twice. He missed the putt to make a new course record.

Does your church do something that you both can volunteer at? I think mine regularly makes sandwiches which go to a charity which hands them out.

Oh wise YM what does it mean when you dream you meet Micheal J Fox in a bowling alley and he tells you that he used to go to your high school? What does Michael J Fox mean to you? Anything you learned in HS seem relevant to your current reality?

Oh fun, now there is a warning for severe weather for a half hour. It really came down quickly before, some nice ponding which hopefully will drain soon. Maybe I should make tomorrow's lunch now and plan on not getting my stuff tonight. Really want some chocolate though.

Opti - here is a great chocolate recipe. Either no sugar bakers chocolate or 1 package mini chocolate chips (I use these). Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave bowl until melted (1 minute then check for melt then 1 minute or less). Open a large can of pumpkin then mix the two together. Very chocolatey, very low calorie. Mousse texture.

I am now the proud owner of an old sewing machine cabinet turned into a desk. It needs to be refinished. The details make my heart sing. And if I dont like it, I paid $25 for it. So it can go without guilt once DS moves out.

I think today was the first really gross day we have had. It was hot yesterday, but today was just so much worse. I need to get Kiddo's pool set up this week because DH said there are triple digit heat indices being forecasted for the holiday weekend. It is so stinking hot and humid that I froze watermelon and blended it with vodka so DH and I could sit on the back porch for a few minutes. While the frozen drink was necessary that vodka sure does hit different in this heat. Just finished cooking dinner so we are going to heat and relax inside for awhile.

Yes minnesotapaintlady your pictures are awesome.
Filed 2 overdue WI Sales tax returns for my Mom. She should be retired, but hard to convince her. I may have done it. Will see what next week brings.
Mom’s close friend is in ER she fell on her porch last night. Mom said no railing on the porch.
My back is killing me. Several hours at Mom’s yesterday. About 6 hours today. Every pro-life group and politician is begging Mom for $$. WinRed processes every donation as a recurring donation. TG Mom keeps the amounts low. Friday was a Funeral for DSis’s SIL, and took Mom to Lunch, banks, and shoe store. Mom went to that shoe store b/c they would stretch her shoes. It is expensive, but if you have foot issues, worth every penny. So I encouraged her to buy new shoes if she needed them. The sales lady said that b/c of her bunion she needs a wide width. She had to transfer from another store. Mom needs to visit a podiatrist. She was going to ask a friend for a referral, else I will talk to my brother.
I have done nothing at home in a few weeks. I need to clean next weekend. My back hurts so bad RN I am on a heating pad.
Tired. Could fall asleep and it is only 7:10 pm.

I took a nap after the baseball game was over, woke up and decided I wasn't cooking dinner tonight. so I called in an order for a calzone, and was told 30min. ok, that's longer than usual, but whatever. I showed up just as a couple was picking up probably $250 worth of food on a Sunday night. yikes. so my 30min turned into almost an hour, but the calzone was tasty once I got it home. I've got half left for tomorrow. chicken/broccoli/garlic. yum!

He could scoop him up and put him a shoebox with towels until someone answers tomorrow. It died. I'm sorry both for the raven and for your son. But I'm also glad your son has that empathy which many don't; they could just walk on by and never see it. I've always believed that our ability to experience joy is only and ever equal to our ability to experience sorrow.

We just had a bad storm. The rain and wind is slacking up now. I hope it doesn’t pick back up. Our utility lines are buried, but the lights still kept blinking constantly for about 10 minutes. Our garbage cans blew down the driveway, lots of stuff blew over on the deck, including the lemon tree. Mister dashed out there and brought it inside. The basketball goal even fell over in the driveway. That’s the first time that happened since we’ve been here. This storm was actually kind of scary. I put a cheerful sunflower spinner in my tomato bed yesterday. The last time I saw the flower part, it was across the yard, I don’t see it now. I got my birdbath up and running today. I like it! I guess it’s good I got a concrete one, because the wind just now was really crazy.

I love refinishing furniture. So I hereby decree that it is going to be a beautiful piece and will be handed down to your children over the years!! That's the gospel according to NNP so it is etched in stone!!!

We just took a short walk and I'm literally dripping sweat because it's 85 degrees and 81% humidity. DH can go for miles and never break a sweat. Same here, and it pisses me off to where I don't want hike with him.

A thunderstorm or something pulled one lily almost out of the ground. Its one of the ones I thinned out and put around the corner in part sun. It had been leaning heavily was almost horizontal to the ground. Not sure if the storm or something else that tried to pull it fully out of the ground, earlier today I shored it up a little and attached the top to the fence near it. Also attached the shorter one to the fence as well in hopes they both survive the thunderstorms in this week's forecast.
Hope you find your sunflower spinner, storms have been pretty heavy in parts of NJ recently.

I don't sleep so well at night these days. So I'm tired and have to drive 30 miles away to go to a funeral. My daughter won't be there: her kids have Covid. My ex and his wife will be, though! Ugh! So sorry.
