Tonight my next door neighbors from El Salvador have surprised me with their outdoor musical offerings. Usually they play lively, pulsing club music. Tonight, it's guitar solos alternating with harp pieces.

Jackson wanted me to scratch his butt so he parked it on the couch next to me. He's so big that he had all four paws on the floor still. It was so funny

Exhausted. We got home from the water park a few hours ago. It wasn't terribly hot while swimming but I was dying when the kids insisted on going on rides.
I took an hour nap when we got home and told everyone fend for themselves for dinner.
DH said he's actually glad we couldn't afford Adventureland. It's stupid hot, crowded and a long drive.
Fun Plex is 20 minutes from our house and the kids have the same amount of fun for WAY less.
We just don't enjoy the theme park scene anymore.
Might look into season passes next year.

Went out today to buy some local strawberries. There are now 3 flats (minus 2 pints I gave to the neighbor) soaking in the sink. I need to start hulling them. I'm trying to hedge my bets for getting strawberries. They double/triple in price in the winter. Its 17$ a flat now in our farmers market - even though its worth the price, its almost tripled in price since last year.

the regional differences in food names are really interesting. Here, minute steaks are the little steaks run through a meat tenderizer, because they cook through in a minute or two. Some folks also call them cube steaks. Same here too. I usually make chicken fried steak out of them. What we call beef tenderloin steaks here are small, about 2" thick and run around $30 a pound.

Not my favorite cut of beef, but won’t turn it down. I do want to buy a whole tenderloin some time and try to make Beef Wellington though.

In case anyone was wondering, I haven't seen any dogs next door since animal control came yesterday. I will say that the mama dog was also gone for months before she reappeared, so I won't get excited.

I got most everything done I wanted to do,except dust of course. I will try getting that done tomorrow. It's going to be pretty superficial, but its not bad, just our bedroom. With the windows closed the house stays pretty dust free. If we didn't have the kitties it would be really clean.
I was catching up paperwork so Smoke got in a file cabinet drawer beside me and went to sleep. He was so cute. They like to lie out in the yard in the front of the house and creep up on little critters out there or on a big rock we have in front of the house. They never go to far, don't think they leave the yard anymore. I call and 98% of the time they run up to me.

Did they get the quarter's out of the dryer's, so they could be used again? Yes, but no envelope with mine in them delivered to me. Perhaps I need to remind the office? I think they were emptied sometime on Juneteenth, Monday. You get your quarters back?

Good morning and happy Sunday, industrious and empatheric invisipeeps. I hope your day offers a reprieve from toil and tribulations. I'll be off in 5 minutes to the beach with Franklin the Dog. It stopped raining yesterday before 2, far too late for the cancelled festival. I was half-hearted but beginning to get ready for the arts and crafts show this weekend. I am disappointed yesterday's festival didn't happen. A red-winged blackbird, wings spread to sing his song.

Spent all day outside at a softball tournament, and it is DD1's birthday - she turned 9 today! Her team finished the day at 2-0-1 and is seeded third for tomorrow's rounds. We have to win two games to make it to the championship game. They played well today, especially DD1! So proud of her! Happy birthday to dd! Good luck in the games today!

I think I'm going to focus on the DS's room today. I have a pretty free week this week, so I've got a couple of options for picking later on. We also have a few other things going on.
And in his smart ass way, he was like, we need to finish my room. Which, he is right. And also, I am a little surprised that 19 months out from my last day of treatment, my kids don't even remember that I was you know, dealing with cancer during a pandemic. I'm glad that things seem to only be a blip on the radar. But, still.

Oh wise YM what does it mean when you dream you meet Micheal J Fox in a bowling alley and he tells you that he used to go to your high school?

I think today I'm going to do the whole sugar scrub, face mask kind of spa day at home. The high is only 89* today, so it may be OK on the deck under an umbrella. We'll see.

DH and I went on a beautiful 4 wheeler ride with some friends yesterday. Didn't get home until 1130 last night. Showered and in bed by midnight, and I slept 8 hours! Need to get moving now, think I will make some bacon for breakfast. Now that it is just DH and I eating most days there will be leftovers for my lunches.

Well darn, this is not good. I went to the bathroom this morning and have blood from the urine area, very pale but there. Thought I had seen something earlier and here I am getting ready to leave Tuesday. Think I will go to the minor ER today in the city.

what I should be doing: putting the stovetop back together and cleaning the bathrooms
what I am doing: sitting on the deck with the crossword from the Sunday paper, streaming the news on my laptop. it's only 70 degrees here now, we are under total cloud cover. I'll take it.

I was rooting through stuff again and came upon a folder of genealogy stuff my mom had been working on.
According to the script on the back I have a relative that marched with Sherman during the Civil War.
Trying to figure out how to validate that. Cause that's cool that's history right there.
I also found the photos from the year my mom entered the photo competition at the state fair. Those are going on my wall.
Haven't found the sketchbook yet but I did find one sketch belonging to my great aunt Del. I'm going to frame it eventually.

We just took a short walk and I'm literally dripping sweat because it's 85 degrees and 81% humidity. DH can go for miles and never break a sweat.

Looks like I will be dealing with a feels like temp of 87 when I do my laundry. Humidity around the 60% mark which is impressive given recent rain in our area. More rain in the afternoon. Hope I get more than this load of laundry done, but I'll do what I can. My sleep was off and I took bad records of my hydration. I'm sure I drank too much of my Jarritos soda because I like the taste.
I think I need to be better about sugar, but its hard not being able to get groceries I want at reasonable prices. Usually if I overeat it is things like nuts, hummus, and popcorn so my sugar intake stays reasonable.

Civil War pension file from NARA since he would have been a Union soldier. There are services that are cheaper than NARA and have a very fast turnaround. I got my file in 2 weeks from a private service. NARA is the National Archives and Civil War pensions are in Washington DC, not St. Louis.
