Funny thing about this car deal is I made T1 the same deal minus the $800 kicker when she got her car. She said she didn't want a Rogue. She went car shopping instead and came home with a newer Rogue. Dummy. I only owed like $6K at the time. So she turned me down and ended up buying a $20K car instead. I'm also going to be replacing my car with a newer Rogue so at the end of the day we'll all have the same model car.

Should be deciding what I can accomplish the rest of today. Moon Shadow is bundled up in fleece like a burrito to take a nap. I would like to shake out all the dirty fleece in prep for washing it. Really want to wash my hair today, so that may or may not go by the way side.
Not enjoying the current weather and dragging an umbrella with me for the rain and thunderstorms. It is not easy to use walking for a distance and I think I messed up my right knee and my mid back Friday carrying the totes, umbrella and my purse. For today's shift I skipped a tote in hopes of hitting the grocery store after work. Of course the skies opened up and I decided against it.
Tomorrow isn't looking very good rain-wise but I need to wash work clothes among other things.

Ha! I never watch for, or try to post on a certain page number.
This is the first time, for me.

We sat on the deck for a bit even though it's 97 and 45 % humidity. I rinsed and filled the bird baths too. Then I spent a few mixing the bird seed and shelled peanuts we use in the feeders so I'm now dripping sweat. Shower tonight for sure.
I'm excited to have my eye exam Monday and order new glasses later in the week. With any luck, I can beat the back-to-school rush and have better vision by mid-July or so.

Went out today to buy some local strawberries. There are now 3 flats (minus 2 pints I gave to the neighbor) soaking in the sink. I need to start hulling them.

Yes, but no envelope with mine in them delivered to me. Perhaps I need to remind the office? I think they were emptied sometime on Juneteenth, Monday.

OK. I will stop pouting. We are brainstorming solutions. We have one, AND, I get a place that's not a bed or floor to work on.
Covid used up my tolerance for using my bed as a desk and then kneeling on the floor when I was taking meetings.

I have packed 108 boxes, bins, totes, and bags so far. In my defense, a lot of them are from the liquor store so on the smaller side. And it took three boxes just to pack the photo boxes you get at Michael's. I need to rethink those . . . if I ever unpack them.

Glad you see a solution, giramomma. That must have been crazy difficult, working on the floor and bed. I have seen amazingly slim desks, some that fold up onto the wall, to use as laptop desks.

I printed off the doctor's notes from my 3 visits about my blood clots. Dr. #2 says my stomach problems are psychological and Dr. #3 says my blood clots are just the cats scratching my legs. No wonder the original doctor doesn't want to refer me to a hematologist. This is a 15 minute appointment that will definitely be taking longer than 15 minutes.

My old supervisor messaged me to sit up taller because my head was getting too low on the screen during a meeting I was making a pitch during. The good news is I am motivated to finish up DS's room now.

bean29 My goal is to keep paying into the retirement system. Luckily that gives me a good amount of options: state, county, and local government, along with the school district. (Getting certified to teach in the public schools is a longer term option). If I health insurance is good (meaning I still get access to the hospital where I was treated), I may have an opportunity to switch to the federal government. Shorter term option is going and getting an accounting certificate under my belt. That will give me a ton more options.
There are a range of insurance programs available for federal employees. www.opm.gov/healthcare-insurance/healthcare/Some have networks like with HMOs, some are PPOs, and some are fee-for-service. You can follow some of the links on the above website and fool around with it to see what you can get, and what it would cost. I'm fairly confident you could find a good plan that will allow you to keep your doctors and preferred hospital. The pension system is different than what you are paying into now, of course. I know nothing about your pension system, but the one in my state for state employees is 2% of your high-3 or high-5 average salary or something like that, and last I checked the employee had to contribute 8% of his or her pay into the system. Feds are different, it's 1% of a high-3 average plus you pay into SS. Together, contributions for the pension (FERS) and SS might come to around 8%. It's been a while since I checked the details, so you would want to be sure of it before making a move.

Dinner was good, minute steaks (little tenderloins), corn on the cob and mashed potatoes and gravy. It was pretty tasty. Hubs keeps wanting me to cook less and less. So 4 ears of corn, a small bowl of potatoes, and gravy made with 2 cups of milk. We have a little bit of potatoes left and some gravy. I cooked 3 of the tenderloins and we didn't eat all of them, they weren't very big either. DD and I definitely eat less, but so is hubs. He is working hard to drop some weight and has. Likely makes his knees feel better. Less weight on old people is a good thing as I think the joints and bones have a hard time handling it. But its hard for me to cook small amounts, but I'm learning. Now to clean my table and kitchen.

I am so grateful for the cooking I did before the trip and the food I put back in the freezer. What with the allergies kicking our rears, neither of us is up to full-on cooking. Tonight was 1 oz of farfalle pasta with a bit of meat sauce and some grated parm. Tomorrow night DH is doing gumbo from the freezer with some rice. Next week I'll have to actually cook stuff and that's okay too. I suspect chicken tostadas will show up one night, a veggie burger another, maybe pork chops and green beans ?

Here, minute steaks are the little steaks run through a meat tenderizer, because they cook through in a minute or two. Some folks also call them cube steaks.

We now have 2 parakeets! The cage was delivered yesterday (and we set it up) and today was spent getting other things that weren’t delivered by Amazon this afternoon. For some of the items, it was cheaper to order it through PerSmart and Petco, and do an in-store pickup. After dinner, I took DD1 to get them and they are in their birdcage now! The birdcage is in DD1’s room with the door shut (due to the 2 cats we have).

sitting outside with the laptop and Pretty Woman streaming on my phone. debating calling it a night, but it's only 815. I'll be wide awake at 1 or 2, only to find the backyard lit up like a stadium show. at least I have times and shit from this week, to be able to bring it up with Mr whenever he gets home. bc this doesn't happen when he's home. and I'm beyond over it, and her fucking pacing in front of my house every day that he's home (I have also noticed this hasn't been a thing this week....) so WTF?

Spent all day outside at a softball tournament, and it is DD1's birthday - she turned 9 today!
Her team finished the day at 2-0-1 and is seeded third for tomorrow's rounds. We have to win two games to make it to the championship game.
They played well today, especially DD1! So proud of her!

So did my sister. Her response was ‘OMG! These taste like candy!’. They do, they are little berries and sooo sweet. Normally they come out early June, so glad they were still producing.
