Sorry to hear, finnime . Feel better soon! I think the highest risk of infecting others is early on, combination of viral load and you don’t know to take precautions. Fingers crossed your DH stays negative.

I did a Covid test this morning and it was positive. So the cold I got on the ship was not just a cold. Ah, well. The worst symptom I've had is a loss of smell/taste. I'm going to have DH take the test, too, just to be certain he's okay. I'll break out the masks for the next 5 days. I have been washing my hands religiously. Whoops! I suspect that there was far more Covid on board than we know. I know the other night at dinner, about half of us wound up in Covid jail. Neither myself or the kids have ever had Covid. I figure a week on a boat with 5K other people next week will be the ultimate test!

Does anyone have any experience with tax planning software (distinct from the annual Turbotax calculation type software)? Having trouble so far finding a CPA to talk to and would also like to run some scenarios but it looks like there are major tax changes currently slated for 2026 as the 2017 act expires. (Not all of them are terrible; it’d be great to lose the 10K cap on SALT But, makes it hard to project.)

I just love how Trump set all those individual tax cuts to expire after his (assumed) 2nd term. But the corporate cuts are permanent.

You can do all kinds of what if scenarios in it.

I have less than two minutes to answer each interview question for my first interview coming up.
I'll file that under things that make me go hmmmm

I am horrible at interviewing. And I learned recently that speed of answering is most important to a lot of interviewers, not necessarily what you say.

I need to do the same and see what it will cost us if we sell another house this year. We really need to, I expect with the 200 or so damaged or destroyed by the tornado the one here will sell easily and for a decent profit.
Also If we cashed in an IRA and paid the taxes will this take the place of our RMD's or do we still need to take them. Probably should go to tax questions. I'm sure I can dig the answer up, but I also figure some of you know this off the top of your hea
Hubs filled the dumpster with our stuff and some from the house. He cut up the couch and put it on the burn pile. Also will throw away the items on the front porch at the rental. He said the stuff from the buildings he will put in the dumpster weekly. Still not like the one in the other town he had to shovel load after load out of. I told him will go over in a couple of days and start cleaning the kitchen cabinets and see what I can do with the stove. He thinks its a lost cause, I don't know. Also clean the fridge and dishwasher.
I forget to clean the filter in my dishwasher monthly, I did yesterday and oh my. It definitely needs done monthly, pretty gross.
I phoned in his pills and going to go get them. He also loaded 3 old junk TV's in my car, will take them off tomorrow, have been trying to get rid of them for a year. And I need to get plates for his one small trailer, somehow we overlooked it.
Routine chores done, sweeper is running, and I have been working a crossword puzzle and of course loving on a Tigger cat. He has to have his daily loving. Smoke gets his when I'm sewing. He goes from room to room to stay by me. Asleep on a shirt on my sewing table, behind my head on the couch when I'm sewing on buttons or hand sewing some areas. Trying to lay on the fabric when I'm cutting pieces out or lying on the ironing board when I'm pressing things. My boys.
Sewing note for today. Dressmakers hams. These are used to put under curves so you can press without wrinkling them. Used a lot in very fitted jacket sleeves or in the breast area if the pattern has curves built in. I only have 1, it has a covering like wool on one side and canvas on the other. I imagine they are stuffed with something like sawdust or sand, pretty heavy. They also have clappers that can help flatten areas. I don't have any of those, I just use my steam generator iron, it does a great job.
I found some pretty pearl shell buttons I have. Looks so pretty on the lavender and white. I have some gold colored ones that I may use on a shirt, but that is a pretty fancy fabric. Need something a little more subdued. Hobby Lobby has them on sale sometimes and they do have some really unique buttons that adds to whatever piece you are mkaing.

The weather right now is perfect, no AC or heat needed. Saving on the electric bill for sure.
The firm doing the warranty work has never made an appointment. I may have to see if the local firm has an accredited repair person, his had left a couple of months ago so don't know. We have a 1/4 of our panels out. It says on the inverter what is wrong, but can't fix it ourselves or it voids the warranty. We could, they are just snap in items, that is if we could get them. I can't even get through to Generac, sat on hold forever and noone ever answered. They put the installer out of business. They had a faulty part they sold and was installed and the company could not get them to replace it. It went to court and was found for them but apparently Generac did not have the inventory to do so, they were found at fault, but didn't help the installer. Now Generac is being forced to fix them at their cost, so they are likely dragging their feet. We are getting lots of sun and with no AC or heat doing ok, but it should be better. Last month our bill was $24, that's the lowest it can go as we pay $10.54 for the line $9 something for the outside light and sales tax. It offset our bill in Washington, which was a good thing.

I'm hoping my CPA will do that for a minimal charge or maybe as just part of our tax prep fee.

Countrygirl your IRA needs RMD taken out every year. If you cash in your IRA it will cover the RMD if that’s the only IRA you have. If you have 2or 3 IRAs then there is a specified RMD amount overall. If cashing out one IRA doesn’t add up to the total RMD needed to be taken, then you’d need to take remaining RMD from the remaining IRAs

a British friend of mine posted this earlier tonight, and I felt like I took a kick to the teeth. the first thing that came to mind was a new poster here - do any of you remember the young soldier that somehow found our board a number of years ago? I want to say that young man was Russian, but I honestly can't remember. what I do remember, though, is that his colleagues took the time to find this board to let us know he'd been killed in battle. *I'll edit this post if the formatting doesn't translate. www.facebook.com/623305376/videos/252499764049163/It's not working. I'm sorry we lost a poster in battle. Although, I am wary of a Russian poster. In case we were chatting about military conflicts. Sad. 🥀

After the great day I had yesterday, guess what happened last night. Back and forth to the bathroom because I’m feeling that pressure again. I swear! It’s not as bad as it was last Friday, but it’s still pretty uncomfortable. I called my PCP, and thank God she had an opening this afternoon. So my stomach starts to improve, and now I have the UTI from hell. Fuck me. Anyway, yesterday I ran out of charcoal when the pork butt still needed to cook for a couple more hours, so I finished it in the oven. By the time it was done, around 8:30, I was over it and ready to go to bed, so I told Mister it was going to have to be dinner for today because I wasn’t cooking the sides. I gave him the sacrificial smoke sausage I’d put on the grill to eat for dinner. Don’t fuss, but I didn’t eat anything. I just went to bed, I was pooped. When we unwrapped it, Mister said he felt like Boy must feel when Mister is fixing his food lol. He’d already tasted it and wanted to dig in. So I decided to see if I could shred the edges and just leave the middle to slice today. Man, the edges practically fell apart, it was so tender and juicy. Mister was nibbling as I was pulling it. He ranted and raved about how tender and delicious it was. I dipped a couple small pieces in the sauce I’d made. The sauce had calmed down, and Mister raved over it too. The funny thing was, I couldn’t taste any of the seasoning he was raving about, or even the sauce. I told him my taste buds must have rebelled after I set them on fire trying to make that sauce that had my nose running like a faucet for a while. So I had to just take his word for it that it tasted very good. Mister talked about that pork until we went to sleep lol. He said he couldn’t wait to get off work today to have dinner. I’m pretty proud of myself since it came out so tender and he liked it so much, especially since it was my first time cooking one, ever. I learned a lot about what to do next time to make things go smoother and possibly make it taste even better, even though Mister says “better” is impossible.

y'all, I'm so tired today. I clearly can't hang on a school night anymore. either that, or this morning was too much peopling and not enough solitary screen time. definitely a combination of both. the first half of the day-long meetings ended at noon, where I got to call in to a working meeting to talk about slides I built mostly this am while listening to the primary call. I've got one call this afternoon, at 3. until then, I have taken my laptop outside to sit in the fresh air and crank out more PowerPoint work. oh happy day.

I "liked" your successful cooking, Pink Cashmere, not the UTI. My stomach was upset yesterday, but we'd attended a graduation open house this past weekend, and I wonder if something I ate there disagreed with me... The air quality is going to be bad this afternoon, once again due to the Canadian wildfires. I hope they're starting to get the upper hand on so many fires.

I will be happy to finish this conference up today. The west coast time has me all messed up. And I'm cranky because it's a partial day so no true lunch break.

There are no kids in my family young enough to appreciate Finding Nemo. The last is my nephew who is now 16. I am both the oldest and the youngest(at heart) in my family.

Six juveniles from 12-14 (yikes!!) just arrested in next town for stealing a car. Seen on ring doorbell at 3am taking a red car from a driveway. When car wouldn’t stop, Police started a high speed chase but ended it due to safety concerns. Car crashed afterwards nearby and 3 kids taken into custody. Other three were found shortly later. All released to parents except one who already had a monitoring device on back to Essex county youth house. Sadly don’t see a good future for these kids and sadly not a good future for folks who work hard What kind of a dumbass commits a crime wearing an ankle monitor? The same dumbass who leaves his paystub at the scene breaks into a house through a door with a ring camera on it. burns down a house in broad daylight when the neighbors all have ring cameras leaves their prescription bottle at the scene leaves via window and walks in the snow back to their house runs drugs at night in a car that has a headlight out breaks all sorts of traffic laws while running drugs. posts pictures of themselves on FB committing the crime, or with the proceeds of the crime. They are living among us, and they breed.

My kids had tests this morning, so they came to get me at work to go out to lunch with them. I had to pay, though.
They were telling me about the senior pranks this year.
Kids drove to school with boats, jet skis, utility trailers, or whatever tow along they have, and parked haphazardly all over the school grounds. The faculty and staff had to park several blocks away and walk. It was "bring your dog to school day." There were also a few other critters like a chinchilla and a bunny. The bunny had it's own picnic basket with a blanket and snacks. Then they taped down the activation buttons on the drinking fountains and turned the nozzles so the water spout went to the hallway. They were kind enough to put kiddie pools to catch the water. Then they went to the band room and turned all the drumsets upside down.
I give them points for creativity.

Our seniors put a huge auction sign on the school marquee. It listed XXX sq feet with a pool, library, two basketball courts, theater, and 3 elevators. Opening bid $1 with the main school number listed to place bids. They also replaced the head principal's desk chair with a toilet. He allowed them to enter his office while he stood in the corner with his eyes closed. Funny and harmless.

I heard on XM actually about seniors at a high school in my state listing the school for sale on Zillow. The listing stated all 15 bathrooms had sewage issues. Lol.
