My puppy has discovered slides. He's in love with them! Macy loves slides. She's so weird. She'll just walk around with one of my slides in her mouth.

Also, the guy who works at the gym that has been asking me out went full on creeper yesterday. He was there yesterday when I never see him on Tuesday. Fine, it's a free country. Go to the gym when you want. However, I was doing my boxing class last night and I noticed him out of the corner of my eye. He was sitting in a piece of equipment facing us just staring. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt, but I was uncomfortable. He has one more time to ask me out and I'm going to not be nice. I'm telling him in no uncertain terms that if he doesn't stop that I'm complaining to the gym about him. I don't want to mess with anyone's job, but he can't keep doing this. What is with these creeps? Do they really think staring at someone is a turn on? Or are they trying to intimidate? The guy is kinda weird IMO. He's always talking about how he has all these hoes etc. Ok, then leave me alone and go be with them. That makes you even less desirable. I'm not afraid of him or intimidated. I can handle myself. Plus I'm never alone. Both gyms are in sketchy areas, so I don’t just walk around alone there. I was telling a friend about it last night and he said something like he'd never had anyone make him feel uncomfortable like that. I told him that's because he's not a woman. We deal with it on the regular.

Y'all need to move down here by me. There's a really nice 1,400 sq ft, 3 bedroom, 2 bath with large yard and storage shed renting for $1,850 plus utilities and yard maintenance, just a few blocks over. I'm a good neighbor No, thank you. I don't want to live in a place where you need security to walk you to your car after shopping at Walmart. I prefer to live where I am, with no bars on the windows and where people often don't lock their doors. And no guns. You are overly generalizing. I don't need security to walk me anywhere including my front yard at 3 am if Penny needs to go. There are no bars on my windows. And don't tell me people never get robbed or shot where you live. That place is somewhere over the rainbow. If those are your only requirements, the bar is pretty low.

We decided we are not going to rock the boat with the nursing home. Doing the math that is not a shit ton of Tylenol and being blunt she's probably not much longer for this Earth so it's not likely liver damage will catch up with her. I got the shitty granddaughter lecture because I forgot the meeting. She's also livid because according to her grandma's mail shouldn't be forwarded to my dad she "blocked that" and he's "not allowed" to have it. Pfft. No where in the decree did it say my dad can't have mail forwarded to his house. I can also talk to him as much as I want, the only thing he cannot do is sign the checks themselves. I went over this with the lawyer beforehand he said the nursing home cannot forbid me from talking to my dad about his mother in private. Just don't be dumb enough to do it in front of them it's bad optics. According to the lawyer the nursing home cannot yank medical POA my dad did nothing wrong in that regard. They certainly think they did though. IDK what she thought she won because if something happens to grandma we're her only next of kin. She and the nursing home certainly are not authorized to make any decisions for my grandmother in the event she ends up in the hospital like MIL or my mother. Since according to her there is no POA it defaults to my dad and myself as her closest living competent relatives. So suck it bitch. I also according to the rules have every right to question why she is being charged for 186 Tylenol a month because I am looking out for her financial best interest but whatever. They cannot tell me "why" she is taking them but they damn well can confirm whether or not they are actually giving her that many and the bill is accurate. But whatever. We are so damn close to the finish line and we are so fucking tired it's not worth kicking the hornet's nest over. Dad has an offer to buy the business. $60k so he would come out $20k ahead from what they put into starting it. He is burned out and his heart is not in it anymore now that my mom is gone. Him and J have buried the hatchet. She asked for the opportunity to try to come up with money for a counter. My dad gave her a payment amount he wants to see upfront and agreed that if she can do that he will stay on to help her and she pays him $1000 a month till she reaches the $60k offer. She misses a payment ownership goes back to him. If she can do it he will sit down and get it all drawn up legally. He would prefer it go to someone who truly cares about it than someone who just sees dollar signs. So we'll see. I would be sad to see it go but would prefer even with all the BS drama for it to go to J. She has earned the opportunity from a business perspective. I think it is time for my dad to start planning the next phase of his life and if selling the business will help him continue to move forward he has my blessing.

question for some of you (I know there's more, but andi9899 is the only one coming to mind at the moment). I should also post this in the tax forum, I think. what's the personal tax impact to be working remote from your home, for a company located in another state? trying to educate myself in advance of negotiating salary/benefits/bonuses for remote opportunities. TIA! You only pay taxes for the state you live in. Even though my office is in TX, I'll only pay KS state taxes along with federal. This really depends on state. After I left KY and had established myself in WA, the income I received from KY I had to pay taxes on as a non resident.

soupandstew , many, MANY, years ago I used to watch a couple of Soap Operas, but your neighborhood beats them all as far as plots, drama, and an "addiction" to finding out what's going to happen next!
Is it possible at all for you to post a picture or two of the now "famous" fence? I have a photo good neighbor sent me, but I'm not comfortable sharing it at this point. If I feel differently at some point, I'll ask someone to post it for me because I'm clueless on photo posting

The nursing home won't be able to bill Medicaid for Tylenol. Medicaid does not cover OTC drugs. That's assumed to be included in the monthly amount they get from Medicaid. They can bill the Tramadol to her Part D plan but that's it. No coverage for Tylenol.
Legally dad could demand the medication dispensing records but I understand the burn out on this.

I'm LMAO. there's 3 chipmunks chasing a squirrel up, down, and all over one of the huge oak trees over the fence in my neighbor's yard. the lot of them are super chatty! my two goobers are at attention, just watching the show from the deck.

Because of this thread I was thinking about fences when I was driving around waiting for Carrot to get done with tennis last night. so I was checking out yards in town. I'd say half in town don't have them, but of the ones that do, the most common backyard fence is definitely picket or wrought iron around 3 feet tall, then chain link, very few privacy fences. But, like I said before, the yards in town are small. A full lot is 50 feet wide, and many houses are on half or 3/4 lots. When your yard is 25' x 30' a 6 foot tall solid fence all around makes it seem even tinier and you get no breeze. My entire lot is 2200 SQ ft. We all have privacy fences in at least part of our postage stamp backyards. People on corner lots have chain link fencing or hedges.

Our half lots in town are teeny tiny and they are 25 x 150 so 3750 square feet. The houses are long and skinny, then a tiny yard and the garage in back on the alley.

Our half lots in town are teeny tiny and they are 25 x 150 so 3750 square feet. The houses are long and skinny, then a tiny yard and the garage in back on the alley. Easy! It's a 1911 semi-detached home, so it's been this way for over 100 years. Both my lot and my connected neighbor's lot are 2200 SQ ft and our houses are 1480 SQ ft. I live in a dense suburb. Most houses here are old semi-detached or row homes. There are some single homes atop the hill. When we finally put a parking spot in back it will take up a little of the yard but it won't take up any garden space. We have a reel mower but it's easier to cut the grass with the weed Wacker. I love my tiny space; I have a garden, two small Japanese maples, a rose of Sharon, a patio with table and four chairs, a giant umbrella, and still space to lay in the grass if I want. I could easily buy a house where the structure would be larger than the lot size, so a 2200 SQ ft lot is not bad at all, especially for someone who doesn't want a lot of land to take care of.

Gradually knocking out the adulting list. Haircut and dog checkup scheduled, kid doesn’t need wellcheck till July. Still need some present ideas for DH for bday and father’s day. Trying to figure out a party for DS’ bday, which is going to be delayed more than a month as we wait for the pool to get up and running. Neighbor and her daughter (in DS’ class) are helping with the guest list...a little too much! She randomly invited another neighbor’s kid (same grade) to DS’ as yet hypothetical party I don’t mind them coming at all, I just would’ve preferred to wait until I was sure the the party was going to happen. Trying to swallow my annoyance at the dog boarding place. They charge 70 a night, plus a daily fee of $30 for *drumroll please* one activity and one treat The idea is to upsell to the $40 daily fee which includes a walk or two...but seriously? Off to read the 55 page disclosure so I can move forward on the beneficiary IRA.

But deeply offended at the breakdown of $30 for one activity and one treat. Pretty sure one activity = we let him out to play with a couple other dogs for half an hour

They can bill the Tramadol to her Part D plan but that's it. No coverage for Tylenol. Legally dad could demand the medication dispensing records but I understand the burn out on this. I know we can. I also know by law they have to provide us with her care plan even we are not medical POA because we have a right to know how our family members are being cared for and if they are doing it properly. I also by law as her financial POA have the right to demand proof that she is actually taking 186 Tylenol before I pay the bill. I can refuse to pay any bill at any time unless I get a full accounting of her expenses and by federal law they have to give it to me. Her monetary well being is my responsibility as Queen Bitch regularly likes to throw in my face. To her that apparently only extends to shutting up and writing the check. If we were farther out than we currently are money wise I would fight harder on it but we are so close to it being Iowa's problem. I'll just count it as yet another dollar amount that goes towards spend down that I don't have to worry about coming back to haunt me since prescriptions count. Nursing homes are such a racket. I know it is YM sin to say it but some things SHOULD NOT be private industry. They provide an essential service yes but the fact that there is next to no oversight allows them to abuse the shit out of that. There should be more in place to protect old people and their money. I shouldn't have to fight so God damn hard to get what we are legally entitled to and advocate for my grandmother. What about people who don't have that at all? I also don't blame families for getting burned out. I used to judge when I'd see old people sitting alone with no visitors. I don't judge anymore. My heart still breaks but I realize that it isn't always because sonny boy is waiting for mom to die to get her money. They may have gotten harassed, and road blocked to the point for the sake of their own mental health they had to essentially abandon their loved one. It's sick.

Dammit! Jackson was playing with something and I went to see. There was a small black dot of the floor. When I tried to take a closer look, he snatched it up and ate it. I really hope it was a fly and not a spider.

My lab swallowed one of those black wasps. When she started pawing her face I told her that's what you get for being an idiot. She's lucky she didn't swell up like a balloon.
